Recently I had a period where my breathing started to slow down and a warm feeling came over me. The feeling spread and everything turned white followed by a strong vibrating feeling. There was a brief moment of unconsciousness which ended up in total nothingness with only thought and emotion present.

Any thoughts would be welcome

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Light Body Activation?

Hi, it's been a while since I last posted but here are some experiences I thought would be worth recounting

One night I was sat relaxing on the sofa just listening to music then I began to feel a pleasant comforting warmth which started off as mild.

It then grew stronger and stronger and everything around me turned into white and I felt my entire being vibrate and I passed out. I came around bemused but fine.

Later I experienced a dream where live fish were coming from my mouth and then the entire dream went completely white along with a crucifix in the centre. A still image then appear with a man standing next to a well. I asked "Are you Gabriel?" and the answer came back "Ariel" at which point the shock woke me up

I now can see light coming from my body and it is flashing on occasions

Any thoughts would be welcome

After being awake all night I went to bed around 9.30pm the next day and went to sleep as normal except I became aware of being in total darkness and had a feeling almost like my whole being was being sucked away somewhere and I had an automatic fear response to fight it which brought me back to consciousness but with no mental strength to maintain it. I must have fell back to sleep as I can't remember any other problems from that point on.

I found this book to be easy to read and it covers quite a lot of areas to do with Buddhism(in fact there was a lot of information contained in here which I acquired through reading a lot of other books on the subject) It was good on price and it is also partially readable through google books which helped me decide whether to buy. Once read it also works as a good reference as it is easy to dip back into any of the individual sections. Definitely one to check out if you are interested in an easy read about Buddhism.

I have had this happen to me a couple of times and it is odd to watch the dream dissolve and waking reality come into view.

Is it possible to pick up individual thoughts from people nearby because I have had experiences where I have heard a comment from but I wasn't sure whether it was verbally said. It tends to be very direct comments people could normally think but keep to themselves in situations where I have never met or know the person. I'm just trying to decide whether it is a psychic issue or just that I have met rude people :|

From all that I have read it seems to be a supposed raising of consciousness to a more spiritual level.

Is it possible to increase the flow to a higher level by reusing this symbol during a healing?

Hi
I read this recently and found it to be an interesting book which was easy to follow. There is another companion book called indestructible truth which I haven't read but would be happy to know if any others have read it. Both are written by Reginald A Ray.

Just finished reading this one. Dealing with Chan Buddhism (chinese zen) and written by Chan Master Sheng Yen this book is an easy read and I liked the way it addresses stages within meditation. It isn't too heavy on dogma explaining more about the practice of retreat and meditation in a straightforward manner.

Welcome to Book Reviews! / Need a recommendation

Can anyone recommend any Buddhist books that give a comprehensive study on emptiness? Most of the books i have read do discuss emptiness but they seem to skirt over a really detailed discussion of the subject. Yet this seems to be one of the most important concepts to understand within Buddhism.

Hiya,
Can anyone help. I have been attuned to reiki 1+2 and after the first attunment I see a light in the sides of my vision field which wasn't there before. I can only generally see it if my room is dark and if I close my eyes and rotate my head left to right I can see a light effect similar to waving a light source in the dark. I can also make this light grow brighter by meditating or relaxing. Is this the beginning of auric vision because I cannot see light around other objects or people, only around my head.

Hi,
Is it possible to treat two people at the same time by placing one hand on one person and the other likewise? I haven't tried it but wondered about doing it.

Hi,
In regards to the ego being that which is "I", what is that which is "Me"? are they the same i.e both are empty of inherent existance. For when one says "me" or "mine" it seems to be a possesser of emptyness. Do you see the point.

Just a question. In regards to the statement "Thoughts are things", can this statement then be applied as anything that does not have the animating life force within is nothing but thought form, and thus illusion?

Hi,
I'm finding this book by Patrul Rinpoche helpful. In regards to price and content it is probably best suited to those who have accepted the fundamentals of Buddhism and want to go further because the teachings challenge the ego on many levels that could be uncomfortable to some. Otherwise, worth a look

Yes.
Images and feelings are a far more common way for your higher self especially to communicate with you than through words. Intuition is primarily this type of communication.

Words require the communication to be routed through the language interpretation portions of our brain, sometimes leading to errors in translation, as it requires your own vocabulary and understanding of language to achieve this.

Although a lot of "clairaudiant" spirit communication will use words, and they definitely have their purpose, but more often the really important messages from Spirit will come through in the form of visual images and feelings, things that don't rely on learned language.

I once met the spirit of an elderly Hopi Indian woman. Couldn't understand a word she was saying, but that wasn't really what was important. The fact that she beckoned me to sit with her, shared with me a ceremonial peace-pipe, and directed me to look at something happening outside the dwelling, that was the more significant message.

Kind regards,
James.

Thanks samsara, for the book recommendation! [:)] I had heard of Christmas Humphreys a few years back, when I was attending the local zen center. However, I haven't read that book, so I think I may now take a look.

Very best,

I agree, it's a good book.  I'm a Christian, but I think that any belief that attempts to bring peace and understanding to life and death is one that should be somehow applied to everyone, regardless of religion.  I liked how it gave a basic history of Tibetan culture to help you understand the book more.  It's a good one!

Isn't this strange.  I was just about to look at your thread and as I was entering, I was thinking to myself, what it would feel like to be able to just say the words, 'I am Buddha' and really mean it, to use the words, Buddha and not Little Buddha.  Then I looked at your first sentence...

"has anyone here seen little Buddha."

...is this a warning by Buddha, that I am still too little to take him on? [;)]

One of the biggest reason of failer with new projecters is that they make it to the transtion stage and then they get scared, or excited, or they think the moment this starts.  I also have to admit it was also the reason I failed so many times, but with my failer I learned. Most people expeirence this right before seperation when attempting to leave there body, I would say that this is stage right before projection.  Hope I helped.

Samsara,

Yes, but not the beach specifically, but I have dreamt of beautiful surroundings and the dream was very vivid and clear and peaceful. I have plenty of dreams like that and when I wake up I always feel so... blissful.

But it doesn't sound like it was lucid/astral but it does sound like a great dream overall.

Blissful

Hi Samsara,

In answer to your question, yes, I've been told by several different mediums that I am a healer.  I had already been interested in things like hands on healing, and I guess being told kind of spurred me on to look at different kinds of healing and what I might be good at.

Am pleased to say that I have found I AM rather good at it to[:I]

What about yourself?  What made you ask the question?
