a few questions regarding to my post:
1. Even after asking/stating for clarity and the the use of my legs I was unable to move once "stuck" and still felt like I was drunk.
2. I know most people as soon as they have a successful obe start looking every which way for their "guide." I do not think that guides will make themselves known at first to everyone, but if a guide were to appear, the chances of him taking an appeariance resembling my father (read post) would be the most likely, as my father is a very warm and gentle person who has always been someone I look up to.

This lead to me the question: is it possible for someone still living to be a spiritual guide without knowing it?

However, I think that I saw this person behind me because I got a feeling of "oh no, I think there is someone behind me" and thus created it in my mind.

okay here is my post:
------

I've had lucid dream induced obe's before, but this morning was my first wake induced one, sort of.

Anyways after getting to tired i rolled over to my side and went to sleep. I ended up having an obe, without knowing I was out of body at first. I got out of bed and I felt really really drunk. I had LOTS of trouble walking, and just kept thinking "how strange, I dont even remember drinking last night"

I was so "drunk" that I could not leave my room. the closer I got to my door, the more energy I felt rooting me to the ground. I felt so sick that I called one of my roomates over that was in the living room. I realized It was an obe when I could "hear" him coming, but instead of from the front he was approaching me from my back side.  I realized I was seeing a full 360 degrees a vision. I also could not actually see my roomate, only hear his voice getting closer.

So I asked for clarity, and to have full use of my legs, but to no avail. I still could not move from my spot. I also remember the recommendation by RB to quickly return to your body during your first wake induced obe.

This was the first time I attempted to return by myself. In previous obe's I would just wake up, or snap back to my body unwillingly. I thought about my body, stated my intention to return and to wake up, but nothing happened. Frustrated, and a little confused as to why i was still out, I closed my eyes, and leaned back onto the wall that was holding me up. I floated through the wall downward as my feet raised up. Now with my eyes closed and hovering in the air I once again stated my intention to return, and I did.

Only not really.  I got out of bed, everything was normal, went to leave my room and was stuck to the ground right by the door, and expiranced the same drunken feeling. Realizing that I still had not woken up physcially, i decieded to have some fun and try to force my way out of the room. With all of my might i only made it a few feet past the door. Once outside of the room I immeditaly felt a presence appear behind me, and thought to myself that I shouldn't look because seeing a stranger behind me would scare me. Then I realized I could see in everydirection and saw A tall man that had many facial features as my father, and resembled a younger version of him.

This person looked straight ahead of them and did not awknowledge me at all. I got very, very frightened and decided "okay, its time to return for real this time." And instantly opened my eyes in real life, waking up.

Well lets see, to start off I am not new here by anymeans, but I have not visited this forum in quite sometime.

I have been expirancing very strong lucid dreams lately which has sparked my interested again, having gone dorment for some time. These lucid dreams came on by their own will, I have not been "practicing."

On to my question.
Usualy when I meditate, I reach for the "mind awake/body asleep" state, the trance state. When practicing to AP, I raise my frequency to induce the vibrations, which is effective for me. However, I thought about trying to lower my frequency instead, to see if the meditation would be different.

Upon concentrating on this, everything began to slow down. I felt as if I was shrinking inside myself, being just a tiny tiny dot somewhere in the back of my head, my feet felt as if they were miles and miles away from me, same with my hands. My body felt lifeless.

What felt different also was that normaly when I meditate, my mind is in a trance and I have to focus on maintaining this trance. Here, my mind was not in a trance at all, it was as if I was awake doing my day to day things, but instead my body was in a trance.

---
Does anyone else practice this type of meditation?  What are the benefits of meditating in this fashion, and is there any downside to it?

Also if there are other types of meditation I would love to hear it.

Sorry if my english is bad, and thanks for listening.

i started to ap while i was sleeping last night, and the vibes were much more stronger than usual.  I was focusing on my heart beats and after awhile it wasn't that it felt like my heart stopped beating, but that it was floating away from me and i couldn't feel it.  All the while it was like my entire body was  inside a huge church bell while it was ringing. And any faint music or sounds sound like they are suttering, or coming inshort bursts that i can actually feel.

It's never been this strong before.

I've always read about people getting sleep paralysis, and how it scared them. I never could understand what could be so spooky about that until about 2 nights ago.

I have very vivid dreams, and have great dream recall, mainly because I keep a dream journal.

I was dreaming that there was a reporter and a tv station van reporting something on tv about my house.  The reporter didn't feel right to me, so I walked over, and grabbed his microphone out of his hands. As soon as I did this in my dream, I was wide away in my bed with heavy vibes.  It was just such a surprising switch. From dreaming, to being fully awake with intense vibes.  Usually when I get vibes, it will feel like my entire bed is shaking violently, and my heart is beating rapidly.  But these vibes where different. It was like a circuar motion inside my chest,  like someone dipped a wooden sppon in my chest and was stirring it around.

This spooked me a little bit, so I went to sit up... but I couldn't. Than it felt as if that circular area, like of like an electric feeling as well, was pulling me inside it. I couldnt' move.  Had I not been shooken up, it would have been a great exit.  Than I remembered the countless times I've read to wiggle your big toe to break paralysis. So i did, and than moved my foot, than everything just ceased.

I shook it off, and went back to sleep. Started dreaming that I was somewhere, about to light a firecracker, and it happened again.  I was back in my room wide awake with the vibes and paralysis. But this time, the vibes and pulling sensation where so over whelming, never felt anything like it before in previouse obe exits.  it was like something was trying to pull my entire body through a tiny tiny little hole or tube that I just could not fit through.  It was so overwhelming that I had to focus so much effort into just wiggleing my big toe, just trying to get it to budge, finnaly i did and was able to break the paralysis.

I kind of regret not going with the flow of things.  This was my frist time getting SP, and it shook me up a bit.  At least next time though i'll be waiting for it.

any thoughts or similar expirances? I'd love to hear them.

Has anyone ever had an expireanced a WILD, or, wake induced lucid dream like that in RB's Astral Dynamics?

In his book, he woke up from a dream, and than projected back into the dream without ever having a break in conscience. The difference, he said, was that he had more awarness, felt stronger physical senses such as gravity, touch, pain sensations, smell, taste.  Instead of dreaming, and becomeing lucid at somepoint in the dream, he was able to go back into the dream, being conscience from the start.

For me, lucid dreams are more spontainious, and no matter how many reality checks I do, they never seem to really help the number of lucid dreams that I have.

If you've expireced a WILD, lets hear it.

Or if you just want to comment on a lucid dream you've had, your methods for becoming lucid, extra.

Usually the only time I have a lucid dream is when something in my dream is chasing me. From there, out of habbit i guess, I always stop and face what ever it is thats chasing me, and it aways stops and disapears, and I recignize it as a dream.

Just thought I'd be a cool discussion of where you meditate,  or project.

I have a small sectioned off area in the corner of my room with a small rug.

Other than that at night before I go to sleep, in my bed.

During the day I usually aviod the bed though, this just leads to me falling asleep :)

The majority of the time I try to project/have an obe, about 4/5 of the time, I end up having very realistic and vivid dreams of my sourounding area.  In my graphics class in school (hichschool, my wrestling coach is the teacher) there is a couch in the back room that I use to practice everyother day when I have his class. I always end up getting close, but I guess I slip into a dream. Anyways I always wake up to having vivid dreams about being in his class, doing the things I normal do. I usually can remember about half of the dreams I have in a week with some detail, but these dreams I can remember everything, perfectly.

Are these failed projection attempts obe's that I just have no awareness/control over, that are just dreamlike to me? I have to stress that they are very realisitic. At my house when I practice during the day, I usualy end up dreaming that I am walking around my house, eating with my family, and doing things that I normaly would do, nothing out of character or dream like about it.

thanks for the help!

been awhile since i posted aorund on these forums. here goes:

About every night now when i try to project, i got through my normal routine, get very relaxed ect...  when i get into a trance state, after awhile i loose awarness and start to drift into the verge of a dream. then all of a sudden i am awakened my a huge "WOOSHHHHH" of energy that just hits my body all over and wakes me up so that im not like out of bed awake, but still focused and in control in the trance state. the huhge rush of energy feels almost like a shock to my whole body. its hard to explain. this usually happens about 3-4 times before i end up waking up in the morning heh.  any idea of what this is?

Another hard to describe topic, when im practicing, I can seam to i think either raise my energy level, or just expand my energy feild. what ever it is im doing its definitly something. it feels like im pushing out energy almost from the base of my spine, and my whole body starts to buzz. Its like i have to concentrate on holding this, and have trouble doing it while im breathing. ex: i'll take a deep breath, and when i let it all go, i can, as i stated above, kind of push my energy in some way. Then when i breath in its like I cant "hold" this energy thing anymore.   any help on this would alsp be greatly appreaciated.

last one, promise.  Alot of times when i'll start to project if say the lights are on during the day, i'll get in the trance state, i guess slip into the brink of a dream, and the next thing i know im looking at my room, seeing through my eyelids. Everything usually looks a little different, like im not seeing clear. usually grainy or pixelated looking. As soon as i realize im seeing through my eyelids it makes me, i guess get excited, or jump and i loose it.  How can I stay focused at this point? as its not a gradual shift, just an all of a sudden thing with no warning.

thanks all!

since i usually fall asleep when i try to project on my bed, last night i got a pillow and layed down on the tile floor.

I kept concentrating on maintaining awarness, and to ignore any imagry or sounds that came up, and to keep a clear mind of nothing. first i had about 2 or 3 "flashes/glimpses", the things i wrote about in the other thread. It was getting glimpses of what was like the inside of a tiny, brown wooden room with very very bright lighting. It was like i was right under the lighting. After thoes glimpses, i keep focusing on staying aware, and it was like all of a sudden the blackness behind my eyes got brighter and brighter, as if in my room, someone turned on a light bulb and put it under my eyes [my room was pitch black]. Then all of a sudden it was like i was in this room again. Like a wooden room, but i couldn't see the room or anything, i could just "kind of tell" that it was some kind of wooden structure, very small, like the size of a sana, and that there was very intense, bright lighting that it seemed i was directly under.

it would only lasts for a few momemts, and then i'd slip back. This happened about 4-5 times. Each time, the same bright, woodend box, or tiny shack.

Anyone wanna help me make sense of this? id be greatly apreaicated.

sorry about making so many threads lately heh.

I've been having trouble because i end up falling asleep before i hit the vibrations. For a while i was doing really well and progressing, had an OBE that lasted for about 5 seconds, and now its like im not able to concentrate/focus at night and i end up just slipping into a dream.

My question is what do you guys do to help you not fall asleep? Or what things do you know of that helps with maintaining strict focus without slipping into a dream once i hit the trance state.

Post your methods. Thanks!

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Glimpse/flash
October 25, 2004, 20:26:31
Havn't posted here in awhile. Been having trouble getting decent hours of sleep, so all of my obe practice went to crap.  Anyways i have a question

sometimes when i start going to sleep, usually when im not trying to have an obe, and right when im about to drift into a dream, i get like a "flash" or a quick "glimpse" of my surroundings of where im at. Almost as if i opened my eyes, looked around real quick and closed them. Only, its a little different then as if i'd seen it from my physical eyes. I still have yet to project, so im guessing this is what its like seeing threw your third eye.  The thing is, these things are only quick glimpses or flashes.

anyone expirance similarthings? comments or anything on this nature would be nice.

Hi EnderZ

...and welcome.

I have recently found "spinning" a very useful technique.  Once you're in the trance state, just imagine yourself spinning round and round.  I find this gets me out fairly effectively, and gets me spinning round my bedroom.  Eventually I seem to slow down and am floating in the air.  It's just one technique (of many), which may or may not work for you.
