I have had bouts of sleep paralysis on and off throughout the years and have never been able to turn them into successful projections. Each and everytime I freak out about it and will myself out of it. For the last few nights I've experienced sleep paralysis more frequently than ever. The other night I kept waking up after willing myself out of it and everytime I went back to sleep it would start again. This happened a total of probably 4-5 times. I know this condition is supposed to be extremely conducive to projecting sucessfully but I can't seem to make myself surrender to it and project. I freak every time it happens. I keep telling myself that when it happens again I will let it happen and not try to wake myself up. Is there anything I can do get past this and use it to my advantage?

I have practiced for many years to consciously make the exit, but only the last 3-4 months have been spent with serious devotion to the training involved. I have had a atotal of three (that I can remember) projections (or lucid dreams, I can't really distinguish them beacause they occurred during sleep). A few years ago, at a time when two of those projections occurred, I was having episodes of sleep paralysis several times per week..but only that one projection. Frightened by them, I got to the point where I would actually catch myself going into the initial stage of sleep paralysis and through sheer force of will I would fight myself out of it. It was just like a fight or flight response...I couldn't think "oh cool, here's a good opportunity to try to project." So eventually the episodes of paralysis ceased altogether as well as any more projections.

I guess my question is have I somehow progranmmed my mind in a way to be resistant to projecting now and what can I do to begin reversing it?  I think had I not had the fear and let the sleep paralysis come on, I might have been able to succeed in projecting.

Don't know if this has already been discussed here, but in an Art Bell interview I heard RB talk about spending an intensive three days raising kundalini successfully. Has he ever discussed what methods he used to do this? I know he says it is not safe, but I am curious to know what all he did within those three days. I also think I heard him mention that he plans to write a book about Kundalini at some point.

I have never heard RB give any sort of opinion on how he feels about magick, whether it be ceremonial magick or such things as Wicca/witchcraft. Does anyone know how he views the practice of magick in general? Does he have any theories about it and how it works?

Something I find odd in my failure to achieve a conscious exit is my seeming ability to visualize in almost perfect clarity for 20 minutes or more. I can reach a deep level of physical relaxation, have done pretty extensive energy work for a few months and I haven't really come too close to projecting. I've read Astral Dynamics and Mastering Astral Projection and highlighted the ever-living crap out of those books, but I still can't nail down what I might be doing wrong to prevent success. Even after 45 minutes of relaxing, raising and stimulating energy, and holding my awareness outside of my body, there is still no indication that I am close to getting out. Any ideas on what I might look at in terms of troubleshooting.

I just thought I would share this technique I've been using in my attempts to make the exit. It seems to be getting me closer to it and I feel some definite lossening when I do it. Since I was little I have always enjoyed jumping on a trampoline and didn't get rid of my trampoline untila couple of years ago when my parents moved and I went off to college. I always loved doing back flips on it and probably have done thousands of them from childhood until I got rid of the trampoline. So while I was trying to project I tried to recreate that memory of doing the backflips, feeling them from the moment I jumped until the moment I landed and what I could see and feel in the process. I then imagined myself doing flips off clouds in the sky and imagining landing on one a little lower. This exercise produced some sensations and dizziness like I haven't ever felt before. I have never been able to consciously project..so far, but this trampoline method seems to be getting me closer and closer to being able to. I'll update this thread if I have any major success with it. But it seems like this flipping is really getting me a hell of a lot closer to my goal of projecting.

I have been recently experimenting with using elixirs to assist in opening and activating the chakras. Although I have not finished it yet, I am basically taking one mason jar filled with spring water and an appropriate gemstone for the particular chakra (ie amethyst for Brow, Citrine for Solar Plexus, and Carnelian for Sacral). In another jar I fill it up with spring water and then wrap it in a color fabric swatch associated with the chakra. I make each one on the planetary day associated with the particular chakra and then consecrate it by holding thr jar in my hand and willing my intent for the elixir (chakra opening and balancing) When all seven are completed I plan to mix several drops of each into a dropper bottle and add brandy or applecider vinegar for preservation. I will then take a few drops in water 3-4 times per day.

I'm just wondering will this likely help with energy work?
It's definitely been a rewarding and spiritual experience just going through the process of making it. I have always been fascinated with flower essences and gemstone elixirs so I figured I would try to make something that would help with my energy work.

My biggest problem in developing the skills for astral projection is developing my visualization. I practice several times per day but I'm not getting significantly better. Can anyone share any tips, techniques, aids, that might help me with developing this skill? Thank you
