Is there a feeling about a method/author that has gotten consistent success testimony for OOBE? There's so much out thre... Bruce, Raduga, etc... but, based on posts here, any kind of summation about the most successful method should be gleaned after being familiar with posts over years at this forum. I realize this is pretty subjective because everyone responds differently, but there must be an idea based on posts that results in a recommendation. I achieved partial OOBE spontaneously once a few years ago, but all I can say about that is that I kept on thinking about OOBE and then it just happened. I would like a discipline to make this something that I can induce voluntarily.

Experienced need only apply, please.

Thanks.

http://www.gizmag.com/visualized-heartbeat-out-of-body-experience/28728/

My first thought is, how can I set up the same thing at home on the cheap? The  real-time flashing graphics is probably fairly easy, but is there an alternative to getting the peak of your heartbeat in real time with an expensive electrocardiogram machine. I'm thinking, the graphics set-up can be triggered by the peaks in sound (ie. microphone on chest).

We can expect someone to come up with something and probably make a business out of it.  Meanwhile, I'm going to put my thinking cap on about this. Gotta be a way. :)

On several occasions in the past three years, I have been able to see with my eyes closed. This happens usually just after waking up, especially after a nap. The vision has a much wider angle than normal vision. It lasts less than a minute.

How can I develop it?

Is it an indication I have a particular natural ability to achieve an unusual skill of some kind?

And, no guesses please, anyone know for sure what causes this and maybe how to use it in some way with my efforts to astral project or towards any other skill?

edit: this may or may not be relevant to what I described, but since a teenager I've had clairvoyant dreams also hundreds, probably thousands, of significant coincidences, clairvoyant I guess you call it. This would be on the order of several incidences every week for decades.

I've been reading about this technique and bought a book called Between the Gates by Mark Stavish.

All sources, including the book, have in common a description of transference, or duplication of, consciousness to a separate "body of light". But a little searching for actual experiences in a forum or blog /diary type thing hasn't turned up anything really experiential yet.

One webring page ends a Body of Light how-to with the enigmatic statement 'The Body of Light technique brings you closer to something even more exciting than stepping out in your etheric body. It introduces you to astral plane projection.' I assume this page author is saying that imagining yourself walking around in detail is like practice for more well-known OBE techniques, but I don't know. There's no further explanation.

What is the goal of full-fledged Body of Light technique, what actually happens, what are its uses? And, is there anywhere here or elsewhere that describes experiences of those who have mastered it ... and what were they able to do with a Body of Light?

I also want to know if it's a difficult thing to achieve and how is it different or the same as OBE?

The situation was: totally relaxed, between sleep and awake - with the intention to leave the body. At this point, I experienced a strong feeling of vertigo or maybe tugging from outside. Also, a definite sense that something was about to happen.

To cut to the chase, next time this happens, what is your suggestion to get out?

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / starting out

I've had a couple of lucid dreams in the past. I did this in the late 90s and it was amazing. I used dream journal, reality checks, and beginner's enthusiasm. I've since tried over the years but haven't been successful. I tend to give up after a couple weeks.

So... I'm trying again using a little reality check method where you do frequent checks during the day, accompanied by doing a jump each time. I'll be doing the dream journal thing of course also. I will also be doing daily aerobic exercise to get me energized. I was having a very active lifestyle at the time of my 1990s lucid dreams, so I figure I should try and duplicate the situation from the past when I was able to achieve LDs.

The general plan is to achieve lucid dreaming and then explore OBE.

I'll check in here from time to time with any reports or questions. The idea being, keeping the whole subject and effort in the foreground, ie the enthusiasm factor.

Welcome to Members Introductions! / Hi

Hi. I was able to have two lucid dreams in the late 90's. I've tried recently to get that going again, but haven't been successful. I'm now therefore getting very interested in AP. I had one of those once a long time ago when I was very sick with a high fever. It was spontaneous.

Anyway, these experiences tell me I have the ability to have either type of experience again. Found this forum while searching around for info on Ophiel.

I'll be around.

Thanks.
