Hi All,

In the last couple of months I've been getting to grips with the joys and pitfalls of what the Monroe institute would call focus 12. It's taken me a long time; well just over a year to be able to achieve a reliable method to get a stable focus 10, or MABA state. Quite often I've just not tried going any further, just enjoyed some quiet time, shutting the physical world out and doing a bit of peacefull contemplation.
But in recent months tho, the lure to new adventures has introduced me to the somewhat surreal perceptions of focus 12, never ceases to amaze me what will appear out of the blackness. Typically I get swirling colours to start with, mixed with a few hypnogogic snapshots of people I've known, or complete strangers, or place I've never been to in the physical. One thing I found is at this point if I try to remember dreams the recall is absolute, it makes no difference to how long ago the dream was, quite often I'll get something appear that's happened several years ago. I find this rather rewarding, it's like finding something you'd gotten irked at being misplaced.

While all this is going on in the visual dept the internal hearing seems to switch on and I get all kinds of stuff. Bits of music, snippets of conversations, computer like beeps and all at varying volumes. It's proving quite tricky not to jump (As it were), at some of the really loud sounds, lol. I can't wait to try out the 'Listening-to-music' in focus 21! I suppose I can hold varying degrees of focus 12 for about 10 Minutes or so, at which point I'll get dumped out for one reason or another, have to try again.
Finally I'm starting to get to grips with what the transition sensation feels like. As a visual metaphor I'm somewhat reminded of a cinematic technique called forshortening, it really does feel like that, but in mental terms. There's a shot in the the film Jaws, where the character Brody is sitting on the beach and he witnesses with horror the kid on the lilo getting killed. At the point where he realises what's going on the scene foreshortens. It's a dramatic effect ;) Or to put it simply, as I said to Selski once it feels like... zzzzzzzzzpt! :-D

I'd be interested to hear your experiences of this state, or any tips to push me onto focus 21.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi,

Saw this at the w/e, thought of something that Frank talked about some time ago. I wonder if this along the lines of the "Machine" that'll induce a transition to F2?

Hi,

I've been thinking of doing a retreat, or maybe going to the Monroe institute, noticed there seems to be a new focus level to play with. Focus 49.Interesting stuff, begin to wonder if this is along the lines of Franks focus 4?

There was I, minding my own business and enjoying having a bit of a lay-in this morning, pondering the universe(As you do), and all of a sudden I found myself having a full on overlay experience....In the fish tank! :D

I could see all the stones at the bottom, the reflection/ refractions and the surrounding water, guess it lasted a couple of minutes. Very weird, but also rather funny! ;)

The other night I was doing my usual practice, just getting into bed and donning the ear-plugs and looking inward. I've been thinking a lot about the problems I've been having, in getting any hypnogogic images to pop up and have been making/modifying my mini run-down to see what happens as a result. What has spurred this stems from a conversation I had about going through a rundown, paying particular attention to noticing if anything happens out of  the ordinary, i.e. something that I hadn't projected/ generated in the scenario.
So in my little run-down all I've set up is a small, circular two level tower, a bit like a converted windmill. I  walk in through a door at its base, which I take as being(In subjective terms), moving from the waking world into the subjective. The ground level is treated as an area containing the sum total of my life knowledge, is represented as a library. So the walls are lined with books of all sizes and colours, there are tables and chairs for me to sit at, mull things over. If nothing else it's just a fun place to visit, even in 3rd person while I essentially wait for the physical inputs to dull off. The floor is covered with these black and white tiles, each being about 8 inches in diameter. In the center of the room is what looks like one of those poles you'd find in a fire station, surrounding it is a flat circular disk ,which acts as a lift, will take me to the upper level of the tower.

I stand on the circular disk and do a count to ten, generate the sensation of the disk rising with me on it, so when I get to the count of ten I'll have shifted my focal point from behind my eyes to that place roughly where the 'third eye' is. So the lift goes up and I get to the upper level and look round the empty room to see what happens. I've deliberately left the upper room empty of generated imagery, other than this copper coloured carpet(Don't ask me why it's that colour, as I've still got to figure that out), to promote the possibility of me seeing anything that I'd not deliberately put there.

Now...A new and interesting thought occurred to me, it's an extension of a sub-conscious guiding technique I'd learned a while ago. So in my right hand I imagined a glass ball about the size of a grapefruit, inside which contains a little golden arrow, and points/pulls essentially in the direction I need to travel...It's a bit like a three dimensional compass. The compass I say has the ability to take me to where I want to go. In this case I asked it to take me to the place that was holding the belief that's blocking me from perceiving the non-physical. The room disappears, there's a bit of movements(I'm still aware of the physical in the background btw) and for a moment I'm standing in some city, which I mentally say "OH WOW!", as I'm starting to fully materialize there in first person. Of course the effect of 'wowing' knocks it right off..LoL. But I carry on with my compass anyway and am thinking about a session I had a few weeks ago, which I'd been imagining talking to the aspects that hold the fear/perception beliefs. I'd said to them that clearly I wasn't going to be able just switch the whole thing on straight away, since I just balk as soon as the shift starts to occur, so have been focusing on allowing a 25% perception, whilst still in the physical until I get fully used to seeing these things.

So I'm holding this thought in my head and it starts to work. I'm getting various scenescapes appear and I find myself walking down this gently sloping street, again in an old city. It just has this lovely ambiance, feels like late afternoon at the end of the summer. To my left there are these small stone pillars which line the path I'm walking along(About 5ft tall), I can't say i pay much attention to them until I've stopped and happen to turn and glance to my left.  Just  for a moment I can see this woman half hidden behind one of them and she was spying on me!
She ducked behind the pillar and disappeared as soon as she realized she'd been seen. LoL, I wouldn't have been able to ask her anything anyway as I was just so surprised to see her there!
I've been thinking this morning whether I'd just managed to dip into somewhere in the F3 region, since she wasn't behaving like an F2 aspect usually behaves...Or are aspects in the habit of legging it, when they've been spotted? :D

Thoughts?

Greetings!

Been doing a lot of trawling through many of the older posts here, searching for various bits and pieces to broaden my over all perspective of the subject. In one of Franks post I see mentioned something called 'the nine inner senses'. Now for some reason this seems to have peaked my interest. I suppose five of these could be replications of our five physical senses, which would seem logical. I wonder about the other four, though. Curiosity might be one of them, though I suppose it depends on what you define as a 'sense'. Anyway I'd be interested to know if any of you have found out what they are.

Cheers, thanks in advance ;)

This is going to sound really weird  I was wondering if any of you have this happen to you as well?

Essentially what happens is I'll be sitting at home, doing whatever, if I'm in a relaxed state of mind and looking at an object for a few minutes, i.e the tv, or a book I start to see things moving, or rather floating round the room. Normally they'll start in the periphery of my eyesight, as long as my eyes don't snap to the movement I can watch them moving around for several moments. Some of them come up really close, I wonder if they are actually people who are non-physical? I've tried talking to them in a non-verbal form, but haven't got any replies as yet. I always used to see them only in the evening, when the lights in the house were usually low, but now they are appearing, or rather I'm becoming aware of them during the day as well. They don't have any colour as such, they're more like a dark point, or maybe a shadow moving.

It'd be nice to know I'm not losing my marbles ;)

Cheers,

Steve

Welcome to Astral Chat! / What do you do?

<sigh>

I'm getting to my wits end here. I don't go out drinking, gambling, womanizing and all the other 'zings and 'ings that you could think of, yet what do you do when your partner won't give you a little space of an evening to practice meditation, or phasing? She'll clatter pots and pans in the kitchen, turn on the hair dryer full blast, last night I said I was going to practice and she started tiling the bathroom! (huge noises). She knows how important this is to me, when I said that I was going to practice last night she gives me this look of total resentment, like; 'wtf are you doing that for, you should be sitting here with me watching soap operas!' :( I can't stand soaps, btw.
I mean, it's only 45mins tops so what gives??!!

<sigh> I'm really starting to ponder that 'D' word...

Just venting folks, normal service will be resumed shortly.

Hi,

I've noticed periodically, when I'm awakening first thing in the morning I get some odd effects...I'm not sure whether I'm having a focus 15 experience/overlay, or something? What happens is I'll be laying there, just enjoying being warm and cozy and I can hear my alarm clock ticking (After I've switched the alarm off), in the background. I'd think to myself 'Gee this is nice, it'd be nice to slow time down, so I can just stay here a while longer' LoL. So I lie there and listen to the ticking in a sort of absent minded way, could swear that the spaces between ticks gets longer and longer, to the point where I just don't seem to hear them anymore. I'll then wander off into some reverie, mulling things over for what really seems ages and all of a sudden think YIKES! what's the time? I'll be late for work!! My eyes will snap to the clock, see only a few minutes has gone by.

Anyone ever experience this?

Hi all,

With things being fairly quiet on the boards I've been pondering a great deal as to why I seem to have such trouble with my phasing practice, end up spending so much time just goofing around focus 10. I'll lie there, watching the swirly colours and go through run-downs of all kinds, still no real whoosh(Although things have got pretty close on occasion). I get all the usual hypnogogic snapshots and all that stuff, but still there's been no tangible events. Many people I've spoken to have said essentially that you just can't rush these things (Almost like "You must pay your dues" scenario), in some respects I'd agree with them, though my argument with all of this has been if you really desire to do this why is it that so many of us seem to spend an almost unbearable amount of time and effort to get a result of some sort? For some time now I've had the feeling that somethings been blocking my progress...

During the last few weeks I started trawling the web again to see if I could find something that might help, came across a part of an article that was on Bruce Moens website about how to change blocking beliefs, regarding the ability to perceive the non-physical worlds, amongst other things. Having read through the procedure about ten times I begin to wonder if it is indeed the case, that these aspects hold our entrenched beliefs, apply them (Like filters of a sort), to our physical waking consciousness, literally colouring our perceptions relative to those beliefs?

So anyway...The other night I thought I'd have a go at trying to contact one of these aspects, just to see if they are really there. Made my way down to a somewhat flaky focus ten(On my way to sleep), said to myself "I want to speak to the aspect that controls my ability to perceive the non-physical worlds". At this point I usually I start talking to myself in an imaginary form, though just as I start the conversation a shimmering blue entity appears off in the left of my peripheral vision, says "What seems to be the trouble, sir?" I must confess that I was so surprised that it worked straight off the bat, knocked me right out of the state. LoL.. When I get another chance I think I'm going to have a chat with my new blue friend :)

Has anyone else tried a method like this to un-block themselves, so to speak?

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / A control question
September 26, 2005, 07:47:21
 I seem to be full of questions lately :D

One of the problems that's been plaguing me more than anything else these days, is when I've reached a state of mind where I'm comfortable and am getting some good hypnogogic snapshots all of a sudden I'll have one image that appears out of the blackness(Quite suddenly/randomly), which sticks and tries to pull me into it at a vast rate of knots. I suppose this must be what's termed the 'whoosh' and boy is a whoosh! Now this seems to trigger the protection mechanism in me that Frank (I think) has talked about and pulls me back to the physical. I can only guess this is the same mechanism that wakes you up, when you're falling in a dream and are about to get squished...

Is there a way (perhaps via some F10 type repetitive affirmations or something), to either slow the 'whoosh' down, or to get the protective mechanism to ease off a touch (to allow the transition)? It seems that the two processes are opposing/fighting each other, ending up with me I suppose in a bit of a 'push me-pull you' loop here, having worked diligently to get into the right frame of mind, only to get kicked out again just as the whole process is about to work.

Thanks in advance :)

Hey yup,

In the last week or so I've been considering what my progress has been over the last six months, realized how rusty my imagination has become over the years. If I'm brutally honest with myself I realize that my imagination has become the equivalent of a 250Lb couch potato, what this has to do with what's (I think) has been throwing off all my attempts to gain access to focus 2 and beyond. I can lie there quite happily in varying degrees of focus ten for an hour or more, still my FoA won't budge an inch. I'll listen to the Monroe cd or some track with a bi-neural beat, will have the breath shallow out, feel the brain power-down, the eyes will switch off and still I'm left with the notion that there's something fundamental I've left out of the mental equation...

I've been looking through a lot of the older posts, reading up on the use/training of the imagination, and engaging the senses within a rundown, specifically getting myself to move around within the 1st person, instead of the previous and easier 3rd person-release-abstract/woolly sense of movement. In the last two weeks I've essentially put the phasing attempts on hold, have been working exclusively working with building up my imagination  muscles. The scenario has remained the same, will go through the rundown viewing the various rooms/areas I have created, tho now making the point of improving the visual aspects. It's been a slow process so far, find even within a single room, e.g My 'energy conversion box room' there is a sup rising lack of clarity, when compared to either a hypnogogic snapshot, or waking life even. But the thing that's come to me in the last few days is that my perception of the 'minds-eye-world' is getting better with practice, things don't seem quite so far away/abstract.
I'm wondering if anyone has tried this at all, or have we all been using what we're given, so to speak ?

I'm not sure if this is right, or not...But to me it seems to boil down to a balance of 3 things;

1.Intention
2.Imagination
3.Relaxation

Just some thought/ramblings :)

Thoughts? Comments?

As always, ;)

Hi all,

I've been having a read through some of the older posts about the WaveII cd, specifically the 'Introduction to focus 12' track. I bought the Wave I cd a few weeks ago, found I can (within reason) maintain a reasonable focus 10 state, but that's about as far as I can get with it. It's a really nice sensation, get swirly colours and the occasional flicker of the hypnogoic imagery and all that, but that's as far as it seems to go...So I'm wondering if any of you have found the 2nd cd has been of help? I know I might sound a tad impatient with all of this, but just trying to be a little pro-active is all, wondering if the wave II might give me an additional prod in the appropriate direction ;)

Cheers in advance,

Steve

Just out of interest I did a search here to see if anyone else has read his books, the funny thing is no returns came up  :?

Or am I just not observing the fact that they're required reading, no-one needs to post about them? ;)

The funny thing for me is that my copies of JLS and Illusions never seem seem to get tired of telling me something new, especially since I've started to learn phasing they've taken on a whole new dimension! Literally!! :D

Any-one else read them ?

Hi All,

After all the 'tension in the head' ramblings, I've have been making a concerted effort to achieve a stable focus 10. I've been practicing Frank's noticing exercise more than anything else, tho I've had the odd dabble with trying to phase to F2oC.  I've read through Major Tom excellent essay on recognizing a Focus 10, can relate to alot of the things he's said. I get the enlarged space in the head, the loss of perception of body parts, etc...
So my question is; Once you know that you've arrived (figuratively speaking), at Focus10, do you just keep looking/focusing off into the blackness, wait for the shift to happen, or is there something I need to do on a more 'pro-active' level?

Cheers,

Steve

How do :)

Umm...I've had another funky overlay experience, was wondering if this is the famous fz? It basically looked like and inside-out golf ball. When I say golf ball, there were points of light at equidistant positions, kinda like the dimples on said golf ball. I thought it looked rather cool! :)

Yea? Nay?

Cheers,

Steve

Greetings!

Having read through Franks post about his 'squishy' ball technique at the w/e, was so impressed how much easier it's been doing the relaxing 'thing' this way, rather than going the 'from-the-feet-up' traditional method. I'd guess it took me roughly half the time (20mins Max), to reach the border of f1/f2. Even though I've not managed to cross that border yet, It's great  to spend much more time now (1/2 hour_45mins) tackling the reasons as to why I'm not able to make that final step. I'm beginning to suspect in a big way that it's the brain itself that's sticking the spanner in the works. I went through the process of finding areas of the brain that had tension and was either using Franks method, or something along the lines of mental Acue-pressure. The mental Acue-pressure is basically the same thing as the squishy ball, but making a mentally constructed thumb and making small circular motions in the area and visualizing the tension dissipating until the sensation of tension is gone. A curious thing I've noticed is that I can steer/herd the tension area around, as it doesn't seem to be fixed. What the tension is ultimately (Other than just tension), I'm not really sure but in the process of removing it the bodily sensations disappear rapidly. Since starting the practice I've noticed that my perception of noise has increased dramatically, several times I has to remove my ear-plugs as I thought something external was really happening..LoL..Pops and bangs, or rather it seemed like knocks and bumps, oh and distant voices and the sensation that someone was prodding my feet! Weird!
Last thing to report for the day is again with the 'mental-massage' is if you make a 'stroking' sensation across the brain, or particularly along the gap, between the two hemi-spheres (Top of the head) I get an almost 'ziiiiiing' like sensation, with a sense of motion? Again very odd, but fun :)
I did briefly find what appeared to be the 'off button', but I got so excited about finding it it switched itself back again on not long after. <sigh>

So what are you supposed to do after you manage to switch the thing off anyway? Focus on the rundown scene?

Cheers,

Steve

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Mind sick?
June 21, 2005, 09:39:31
I got some time at the w/e to do a little practice on finding that point in the mind, to focus on. Having found what I can only presume was it, I was trying to persuade it to shift into the scene I'd been building. It was having none of it, so after 15 Min's I switched to the noticing exercise, was getting various swirly patterns appear, tho nothing to make me go "Whoa! Here we go!" So got to musing about I must be not looking in the right place, began probing around on the inside of my head to find the "I". It felt a bit like having a mental finger inside my skull, probing/feeling/tracing the contours until I came across something that had some resistance, or more like something that went 'Dink' when touched. Aha I thought this 'must' be it. Anyway not alot was happening on the imagery front, so in the end I thought I'd have a bit of fun with it, before stopping for the day.
I some how managed to grab hold of it mentally (A bit like putting some mentally constructed hands around it), and tried pulling and pushing to see what would happen.
Now...Here's the strange thing. I play one of those binural beats/waves through some headphone (mostly because of the external/distracting noises, where I live.), In the background of the sine wave I have that crashing ocean wave pink noise, gives that nice whooshing sound, so I start pulling and pushing to the sound of the waves, after a few moments the FoA starts to move! (although in physical terms it could have only been a few mm, or maybe 1/2 cm) After about five minutes or so of this pulling and pushing, really concentrating I got it up to quite a good speed, could see movement/ oscillations/ripple in a sort of deep silver blue colour...Then all of a sudden...LoL.. I start getting a quite strong wave of motion sickness, and had to stop. After the sensation had stopped I laughed like hell :D

Ideas?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi,

I'm still trying to find that comfortable balance, in which I can make the transition to F2oC, at least trying to reduce the time I need to get to that border. It might be part of the reason why I'm getting such flakey results :?
So I was wondering what everyone tries to keep in mind when making an attempt? Is it focusing on that point in your mind? or perhaps getting your breathing right? or having a quiet space. Is it just letting go, or maybe a combination of these things? I get the feeling that in some respects it's a bit of a juggling act, know everyone will have their own essential method, but I'd be really interested to hear what you have to say :)

All the very best,

Steve

Here's a question I've not seen here yet..

So after we've finished our current earthly experience, have returned to f3/4...Do we still keep the ability to access our f2 area, or is it something that we only use for our f1 experiences?

If I were to ask myself the same question the obvious answer would be 'yes', since it's part of our continuum of consciousness, but I thought I'd ask as it seems an interesting question.

Cheers,

S

Frank, Guys & gals,

I must be doing something wrong here, as I've been practicing pretty much every day, for the last two weeks here and still not making the transition to f2. I'm sure it must be something fairly simple, but what that something is...I'm not sure :(
I've just begun switching the 'run-down' to the method that Sarah talked about on her thread as mine was just too complicated it seems, so I'll carry on with the trampoline for the time being.

So I do a few breathing exercises(calming), bounce around on the trampoline for about 1/2 an hour, whilst listening to some music as my mental rundown, which I find, even at my approaching middle age is alot of fun and chewing a stick of gum, for the flavour effect.

Now here is where I seem to run right into my mental brick-wall. Should I be continuing to visualize the bouncing(and all that), when I'm trying the phasing for real, or should I be doing the noticing exercise instead?

Last night I tried the continuing the bouncing, just to see if I could step into the scene I'd made, needless to say I didn't. I find the generating a scene in a relaxed, kinda day-dreaming way, quite easy...Tho concentrating on something I want to step into, getting the image to stay in my minds eye is really hard. It just keeps dissapearing, have to pause for a moment and re-visualize again, only to have the thing wander off again :(
I don't know if it's relevant or not but as I was about to give up for the evening I got a series of really strong images and moving scenes, was really impressed with them, as the were so vivid. One was of me inside a train carriage, looking out at some mountain range. I'm not sure what it was, either the beginnings of a lucid dream, or maybe a f2 experience?

Yours, thoroughly exhausted...

Hi All :)

Some time ago I d/l'ed a useful little tool(free) for converting text files into .wav files, which you can load onto the likes of an mp3 player, etc. I found this really helpful as I don't get much time to sit down at the pc and read through some of the lengthy posts, here on this forum. So all I need to do now is to cut and paste the text from an interesting topic into the program and just convert/load it into the mp3 player. Again I find it really helpful as I can review topics/concepts I find hard to internalize. I suppose the only downside is that the voices are a bit mechanical sounding but once you get used to the way they talk it's still worth doing. ;)

Here's the link.

Anyway...I hope it might be some help :)

Hi all,

I began some phasing experiments last night, after getting my commentary under control, started to get some quite clear images coming through. Mostly they were people looking at me, kinda made me feel like a bug under the microscope. LoL. It felt a bit like I was being scrutinized in  way that you observe a bug that's hatching from a cocoon

Anyone else ever get this feeling ?

Welcome to Members Introductions! / My intro :)
April 26, 2005, 07:06:45
Firstly,

A warm heartfelt hello to all of you. :)  Been quite a while since I traveled the psychic road, S'kinda tough to shake off all these stupid world beliefs I've been carrying around for the last ten years or so, hopefully with a bit of help from you guys it'll make the transition alot easier. Practice makes perfect, right?
I did a psychic development course years ago, trained (If you want to call it that) with a lovely lady, just south of London, here in the UK. It was alot of fun, am kicking myself alot these days for not really continuing with it all, tho as with these things you never really close the door to that stuff once its been opened.
The funny thing with me finding this place was I was having a conversation with some other guys about OOBs, said to myself that I was fed up with all of this mystical messing around (Have done alot of that in the last 6months)and wanted to cut straight to the heart of the matter, ended up (somehow) looking at the posts Frank had made about his phasing model. Wow!    I'd heard very similar things about the wider nature of reality from the lady I did my training with, tho I was given the 7 levels of 7 instruction at the time.
As for personal experience I guess most of what I've accomplished so far relates to F2 levels, on the odd occasion managed to get OOB. I also made a hemi-sync about 10-15 years ago, did quite a bit of experimenting with that too, weird sensation when you can feel your brain switch off! :D

The only other major experience I can think of at the moment was I remember waking up during a dream, found myself in a conversation with a being that was a flame shape, the colours were amazing! For some reason I felt a pressure on the top of my head, felt like that part of my consciousness was being put back to sleep. But the episode remains vivid to this day :)
Tried working with Franks Phasing model last w/e, after wrestling with that stupid running commentary that the F1 consciousness gives managed to get both the swirly star field effect and the swirly colours. They were these beautiful pastel golds and reds, mixed in with them were a kind of wave shapes you'd see from looking down on sea waves, were a sort of silver colour. I can only guess that somethings happening, tho not sure quite what yet. I'm trying very hard to maintain simple awareness, not letting the commentary loose, also during the working day as well. Still getting mixed result, but I guess it's still rather early yet, after 20 odd years of neglected practice! ;)

That's' pretty much all I can think of for the moment, so really look forward to getting some advice about how to progress. F4 just sounds awesome!

Take care all, thanks :)

Steve
