Welcome to Dreams! / Dream about death..
March 19, 2006, 19:18:40
I've killed people way too many times in dreams. Sometimes I get the feeling there's another me living in an alternate universe, going around murdering thousands.

As far as dying, I've died about 10 times. Rather brutally actually...

Cobalt, to answer your original question I'm going to have to say, judging from my most recent experience, that it is one of those things you can miss. Usually when I'm non-physical, everything is super-real. Like, when I wake up I know 100% that it took place. However this morning I got a taste of what it's like not to be so sure.

Started off by a short meditation. I must have dozed off because I began dreaming about lying in my bed, talking on the phone with my friends about a dream I had with them earlier in the night. Their voices started to fade and I started to feel disoriented. Then, I was plunged into the 3-D Blackness. From there, the vibes picked up and I tried focusing past them like I would usually do. This time it was somewhat harder and I found myself having trouble staying in the void. I kept being pulled back to the physical in which I was experiencing the strong vibrations. At this point, I was pretty much fully physical (I could feel my bed sheets and was consciously regulating my breathing). It was kind of like having your foot stuck in one reality with your other foot in another.

Anyway, the vibes died down and I must have gone through.. dual awareness or something. It was as if a part of me was floating around going through my bedroom wall, while the other me (the "main me") was lying on my bed thinking if I should open my eyes or not. I decided to just end the situation by sitting up in bed. I began to question the reality of the experience. I thought about how unreal it was for the other me to be floating around. It just seemed like it was a part of my imagination and never took place.

My point is that I now can understand why some people wonder whether or not they were really "OOB" or not. Sometimes they're just not as real as other experiences.

I suppose dissociation is a good word for it.

Meg, you described it perfectly.

This morning I experienced it again and instead of "reaching back to the physical" I decided to stick through it. It felt like I was being pulled downwards into the...void... and I found myself momentarily within it. Then I must have snapped back to the physical(?) or something because I started to endure some rather strong vibrations in my head.

Lately it seems like I've been very physical when such things occur.

Although I saw it in dream, I'll post it here anyways...

ubiquitous, the name of the actor is Jeremy Davies. I suppose if you wanted to, you could do a search and see if there really is a resemblance or not. (I think so!)

lol. Wow that brings back some sad memories. About a year ago I was walking home in the dark, with a candle in my hand, when I got scarred by my own shadow.

Yes I've phased but only about three times. The first two times was like a 30second thing where I didn't even notice the shift. The third time was recently. I made a thread about it in Astral Experiences. As far as techniques go, I usually start off with the noticing exercise and then onto visualization/"sensation experimentation" (lol i just made that sucker up). Problem I'm having is slowing down that shift. It's quick!

And about that quilt of light thing you encountered. I think about 2 months ago I was "seeing behind closed eyes" when i noticed this thing on my bed. It was like a 3-dimensional grey cube pattern right in/on my bed. Like your 'quilt  of light' , it was probably a portal of some kind. Too bad we didn't enter the thing! Wonder where it would have led...
#110
yeah. that thing was enormous.

Well. There have been about two times that I've gone through something similar. One was while I was in a trance, feeling as if someone was lying in bed right beside me. That definitely creeped me out.

Another time I felt someone massaging my back while I felt the inner-workings of my brain (such a weird sensation I tell you...). Both times I felt "fully physical".

Eloquence, those spiders are freaky! Awhile ago I had a false awakening in which a spider was right above my bed. Then when I walked outside my bedroom I bumped into some person in all black. lol. Goodness that scared the crap out of me. Funny thing is, when I actually woke up I went into the kitchen and I found myself confronted by a HUGE cockroach.  :gone:

As I fall asleep, I find myself feeling as if I am about to lose it completely. I don't mean that I'm about to fall asleep, but rather that I am going to get lost...somewhere. It usually happens when the blackness behind my closed eyes become more prominent and my physical senses start to dim. It is then that this feeling overtakes me and I desperately try to reach back to... physical reality? I'm simply trying to figure out what this is and why I feel so panicky when it starts happening.

Does anyone else feel like this when your meditating/phasing/going to sleep??

Quote from: StookieThis month marks my first full year of daily practice.

For the past two months I've been telling myself "Okay. From now on I'm going to practice everyday!" and...I don't.   I definitely could use some more self-discipline.

Anyway, I was just wondering how your daily practice has improved/changed things since you've started? And in what ways?

Yes. I'd have to agree with you Gothika.

It's ironically coincidental.

Hmm.....

Isn't it exciting?

*blinks*

You keep having crazy experiences!!!

I'm jealous.

QuoteDoes anyone have memory tips that would allow me to better recall these kinds of events? Is it common to forget things that are actually very startling?

Well. I have the same issue. Although lately, it seems like its happening a lot less.

The only thing I would consider suggesting is setting your alarm clock for the middle of the night, at a time where you know you'll be smack dab in the middle of REM. Usually, at least for me, it has been easier to recall dreams during this time. I tend to lose hold of the dream when it was earlier in the night. Even though, in the past I would remember every single dream (5+/night) without using that method.

The only thing I was doing different back then were affirmations. I think I said "From now on, I will remember every dream" once before I fell asleep and.... I did. But that has slightly worn off since then.

As far as forgetting startling things go, I think for the most part it is common. There have been times where I have this amazing experience and yet i don't remember it until HOURS later. Which makes me wonder, just how much do we forget a night? A lifetime? I bet it's an astonishing amount.

Anyway, I don't know if that helped much but I figure its worth a try. Best of luck!

Quote from: Major TomProbably as common, or close to it, as dreaming about being naked in public.

Last night I dreamed about being topless in class. That would be my first "naked in public" dream. Funny.

QuoteI once dreamt that I had extremely huge testicles to the point that I couldn't walk anymore and everyone was taking care of me cause I was handicapped. I then learned that there was such a disease... But still... it was a really odd dream :o

But... not as funny as your dream kiwibonga. lol. Now THAT'S funny.
(sorry to those who really have the disease    )

Quote from: projektrI agree. One's mind is yet to be completely understood. And i believe that it is one of the greatest gifts we all have, which we don't realise or pay attention to. I also have a belief that everything that has happened is in record somewhere in our mind. (what are your thoughts on that statement?)

And may i ask what are your beliefs? Are you a religious person? Superstitious? Skeptic? etc
You do not need to answer these questions if you don't feel like.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, it is much appreciated.

Regards,

projektr

Sorry, but are you asking what are my beliefs, etc. or TheAlphaOmega's  ?

Gothika, that's interesting.

I happen to be a brunette, slim of face and figure and...... that's about it. But. I have had at least a dozen dreams which have taken place in classroom (who hasn't though?).

It'd be strange if your "dream girl" was named, specifically "Leilah".

Yes. That would be really strange. Because, now... here I am talking to you. I would have manifested from your dream world... to the AstralPulse forum!!! (ok OK, I'm just joking   )
#123
Better yet, Don't be a soldier untill youv'e read "Civil Disobedience" by Henry David Thoreau.
#124
OH, ok. That's your point. I thought you meant it.. differently.
In that case, I really couldn't say. I hope were not learning the same things over and over again. Unless, were doing so because we didn't really learn it the first time around. So it'd be like retaking Algebra II because you failed it. But then again, I don't think anyone can fail in life.

It's a thinker, that's for sure. Although... I don't even think you can find the answers to such questions through thought alone.

Since it wasn't MY point, I will explain how I interpreted it.

Basically, I viewed it as a nice - "combat" - to the whole thread. Because it's funny. Here we are, on a forum where mostly everything is considered ridiculous by the "normal public". Would it be that surprising, or ridiculous to see a thread about time travel??

I don't think so.
