I dont receive any vibrations. I feel my body drifting close to the edge of sleep and then i force my mind awake. When I do this I feel an immediate separation from my physical body and I roll onto my floor. It feels as if I am leaving a container (my physical body). I feel extremely light and sometimes float right out the ceiling :)

Quit trying so hard. Thats the first step. Short and Sweet.

A quite short and simple answer for me. I am naturally curious about everything in this world and when I started having them spontaneously I wanted to learn how I can help others with these experiences through God (and I still do)

To answer your first paragraph:

It's very much the case. Although this is my opinion: I feel that much of the capabilities for traveling is within the power of your own mind. There has only been one experience of mine in which i successfully traveled to a friends house. Most of the time during my experiences I stay near my home or outside of it. I have had two experiences in which my body feels as if it is shifting around the world and I am looking up at the stars and I see the angle of the stars change (as if i am moving extremely quickly). I've never asked anyone to travel. It has always been a conscious decision while in an OBE state. I have asked for guides but only "sensed" 3 join me as I traveled outside. This has occurred only once as well (as I only sought that as a goal during the experience).

In terms of praying, I only pray to god. My journeys have only strengthened my christian views and relationship with god.

I'll always say that you educating yourself on the subject is fantastic but you will learn the most during your experiences/travels.

I have insomnia...wake up every 45 minutes so yes I think it contributes to my OBE's. I also wake up extremely easily...even the slightest noise. I am extremely mentally tired the day of an OBE.

Maybe you shouldnt try so hard. I know thats easy advice to give but maybe you need to give yourself a break and try again at a later time. Quit focusing on it so much and it may just happen =)

I think "intent" is extremely important. I make goals for most of my projections (before I project). This means I set plans for what I will do in the OBE before I even try to attempt it. This is my push factor (and increases my experiences). I reach my goals and ask many questions. If you go in with intent -- you can get to the point in which you will exit your body and then consciously think "Ok, what do I want to do today?"

Commands such as "Clarity Now!" has only worked once during my experiences. Staying out of body longer has made things more vivid and memorable for me. I just recently bought a digital voice recorder so now I wolnt have to get out of bed to record my results on paper and then go back to sleep.

There have been "Accidents" in my OBE's...For example I would try to reach a goal and something would block me or I just would get caught up in something else i have seen. In those instances I either retrace prior goals or look back at my body or check to see if my silver cord is attached. I remember on a few occasions my goal was to go outside and try to fly. Instead of flying I would do sort of a long jump and land...i would then just sit down on the grass and look up at the sky with such clarity and just thank god for the experience in general or try to shout other words and see the effects. (usually when i shout it feels like im inside a television or it sounds somewhat electronic/ambient.) :)

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: First obe?

To be honest it could have been a OBE or could not have been. Most of my lucid dreams vs. OBE's are completely distinguishable from one another through clarity and the aspect of the experience being as vivid, or conscious, as being awake. I have had a few OBE's in which things were extremely Grey until I would get further from my body...I've had many monochrome and experiences in which my environment was brown/Grey.

I never receive vibrations (but have very strange sensations when returning such as hynpogogic/buzzing noises). Did you feel as if something was blocking your vision?

I've always felt some attachment to my physical because usually all i have to do is think about exiting this state and i return to my body. The experience is what you make of it. i'd advise you try to repeat what you did and see if you get any additional results. Did you feel as if you were seeing through your eyelids or anything similar?

Here is some of my journals depicting the astral/silver cord during my experiences:

5/28/08
   1) 10:40-10:45am – I was able to reach my first goal today. A few nights ago I set
down a cup of water out in the kitchen in order to project to the cup and pick it up. This morning I successfully projected while lying on my side facing my door. Separation was a bit different because I was fearful for some reason. Yesterday when I projected I was not able to see how I was tethered to my body. Today I went to the door and looked back before I went any further. I noticed a grayish cord tied to the bottom of my foot. I went and detached it from my physical body and took it with me as I went to get the glass out in the kitchen. The glass that I picked up was the same one that I placed the water in and had some color. Everything else in the experience was not as vivid. From now on I may just stay in my room and see how long I can stay out of body without fear for not being able to return. It seems the cord is rather short from my experience. Maybe this relates to my experience as a novice? Once I am able to stay outside of my body longer inside my room, I will plan attempts to visit my mothers bed and see if there is anything I notice unusual.

5/30/08

1)   9:20-9:23am – I was able to project two separate times this morning. Most likely encompassing only around 5-10 minutes total. The first projection was brief and was only for validation of a few things. I checked to see where the "grey cord" was attached. Today one end was attached to my head on my physical body and the other end was attached to the head on my physical body. The cord seemed a bit thinner this time as I did not see it right away when I projected.  During the second projection I detached the cord from my head on my physical body and traveled to goal #2 (which is where I will be placing the card to identify later on). This area is within my room on top my desk. My intentions for this projection was to stay out of body longer than usual. Everything was mostly grey. However I noticed when I detached the cord from my physical body, my physical body began to shake). Things then began to take color in my room such as my monitor, my walls and curtains, and my desk. I returned to my body after reattaching my grey cord out of fear (because my physical body appeared to be shaking). I also experiences immediate hypnogogic hallucinations upon return.

1)   I triggered four OBE's today (1:40pm) but all of them were very short. After the first one I realized I was in a state to trigger the rest of them so I repeated my induction method. I pretended I was swaying on a swing and I rolled out of my body each time. I believe the last OBE turned in to a lucid dream. Infact, two out of four had lucid-dream elements.
The first occurrence I swayed out of my body to the left of the room. This was a validation experiment. I turned to look at my body and I wanted to view my clock (as I have wanted to do that for a while). Unfortunately the experiment was unsuccessful. The clock was extremely blurry! During this first occurrence everything was in black. I then returned to my physical. During the 2nd occurrence I swayed and exited my body to the left and opened the door to my room. Outside of my room were circus-like dragons floating in the air. It was kind of neat but at the same times a bit scary. They were not moving but fixed in the air. I remember during this 2nd OBE that I looked down at the floor and noticed my silver cord again. It looked transparent today! After this OBE I wanted to roll out of my body to the right to go through the wall and go outside. Unfortunately, my attempt failed. I hit the wall and did not float through it. Since I was unsuccessful, I decided to just take a close examination of my silver cord. I held it and noticed some very strange hieroglyphics along it. These hieroglyphics appeared as a light green color on the silver cord itself and had a repeating strange pattern. The symbols I could not make out exactly but they were grouped in "twos". An example would be "AA BB CC". That is how they appeared on the cord itself. I would say the last occurrence was the longest. It was also the only occurrence that had lots of color in it. The reason why I say it was pretty much entirely a lucid-dream is the fact that in the lucid dream I was trying to exit my body. I opened my window and adjusted my body to sit beside the window. I then inducted the swaying method within the lucid dream to exit my body and look out the window. The window was covered in snow, so I thought, why it is snowing in June. Outside my father was mowing and the grass wasn't actually covered in snow. (He looked much younger than he does now). There were also a few cars that went by and some lady in a car waved to me (as if she had seen me). I thought to myself, am I in RTZ? This occurrence was entirely a lucid dream because I was projecting within a projection.. These OBE's today were not as vivid as some, but I induced them in a slightly different way. I imagine myself on a swing when I am waking up and it feels like my body is swaying. I am then able to roll out of my body during an arch of the swing. The most vivid part of these experiences today was the hieroglyphics on the astral cord. Last night I actually didn't plan on projecting this morning, but was pleasantly surprised with the repetition of exiting without problems.

I wanted to answer your question thoroughly. I have seen my Physical body many times in my bed. I have also experiences no body at all within my bed....(but this has been on very few occasions)...

Yes. I have a journal with 10 pages of experiences since march. You can PM me your email address and i could send you a few of my entries.

Well I have insomnia so thats what helps my projections. I wake up usually every 45 minutes or so and get a drink and lay back down.

I would recommend focusing on something instead of drifting off. Some things that may help are continuously tap the side of your leg. I often can control the state where i find my body drifting to sleep and that is when I use my mind to jolt out of body. If you have a focus point to stay awake, often reiterating words in your head like "Stay awake" may help as well. I've been recording OBE's since March but have had them since I was about 16 years old.

I made an analogy a long time ago that went something like this.. "Usually I notice my body fall asleep and I consciously take control and decide to separate my two distinct bodies. Basically i can describe it as following. I can feel myself drift closer and closer to sleep. Sort of like diving into a big lake that gets colder when you go deeper (and darker as well). When I reach a certain point I conciously say "ok time to try to exit"."

I hope this can be of some help...

i used boxed nirvana before but did not have any results. Although all of my OBE's occur when I wake up usually and not when trying to meditate or listening to these tapes before sleep.
#113
wow thats a big jump for  a validation experiment. While dont you start off with something in your own house, such as putting a playing card face down in a different room.
#114
Sounds like you are having some interesting beginning experiences. However, I also believe when you have more of them, you will be able to distinguish that it is not just in your head. On a scale of 1-10, how realistic was your experience(s) to physical consciousness?
#115
I agree with Stookie. Maybe it is time you take a break. One of the largest things that is against you is the fact that your beginning to not believe.
#116
I try to be open minded but this seems like something right out of the matrix...Sorry.
#117
Mostly all of my projections have occurred while lying on my back. I wonder why that is...I can never fall asleep on my back so that may be the reason why. I agree with Psan in the position should not be extremely comfortable but not so you can easily fall fast asleep.
#118
Well I am no 'advanced' adept at OBE's but I have them quite frequently. To be honest, from what i've read/know, alot of people experience OBE's after a full nights rest. Personally I wake up myself and get a drink and lay back down and they occur or I induce them. You can have OBE's with dream interference. I've rarely had any that are real time but I have also had experiences a few minutes off from when i've actually physically awoken. The largest thing that distinguishes lucid dreams from OBE's to me is a different heightened sense of awareness. I can usually remember exactly how I exited my body as well as the sensations incurred from doing so. i've had many OBE's where there have been odd furniture and stuff...or my room was positioned as it was 5-6 years ago.

try some verification experiments such as viewing a clock or putting a card face down in another room and trying to go visit it during one of your experiences. You can also try going to bed extremely thirsty and will your mind to go get a drink instead of your physical body. I am 90% of the time in my room to start off. If i have an easy time exiting my body though I often find myself flying right through the house accidentally :X

#119
Well i cant have them before I go to sleep or in a meditative state. I can however induce them 85% of the time at will during the morning after a full nights rest. Practice helps but also keeping a positive attitude about projecting.

I can physically wake up and lay in bed and sink into a state where I force my mind awake while my body is still asleep. My best analogy when you are falling asleep is you feel yourself sinking deeper and deeper into a large lake (heading towards being asleep). As you reach the bottom of the lake you are extremely cold but jolt your mind awake. I have also induced them by provoking a swaying motion in this state (as if I was in a boat on the ocean)

I have had hieroglyphics appear on my astral "cord" before. They appeared in patterns of two letters/symbols together and looked awfully strange. Thats about all i can relate to what you said. Thanks for the tip though.

I induced an OBE this morning, as I can usually do by laying on my back after waking up several times. This morning however was a bit peculiar. I had no problems separating from my physical body this morning to wander my house. The house was set up differently this time however. For example, our living room was in our current bedroom and our kitchen was in our living room. The walls were painted different colors so I am assuming my experience had many dream elements. Everything was in vivid colors and it felt like our house was at an "older" time. There was no TV's etc and the lamps were completely different.

The really odd thing, which i'd like some opinions on, is that when I awoke I was breathing pretty heavily. I (believe) a hypnogogic hallucination occurred because when I was  breathing out I could see these small black particles exiting my physical body and going towards my ceiling. Eventually it stopped, but they dispersed towards my ceiling each time i would exhale. I've had strange things happen when I had problems awaking from my OBE but nothing like this. I would also like to note that I stayed out-of-body a lot longer than I usually do. It reminded me of the movie "Green Mile" where the one guy sucks the sins/injuries out of people and it appears like black dots.

Does anyone have any opinions on this? I am only reporting what I had experienced and am hoping I can get some open minded opinions without thinking I am crazy. Thank you.

Mine occur mostly on weekends too but are really dependent upon my mind. Sometimes I will have two days of OBE's in a row and then none for 10 days...It really depends
#123
Personally, it has been all dependent on how determined I am to have an OBE. Some weeks I can have many, and sometimes I can only have a few a month. Sometimes they are not planned at all and other times purposely induced.
#124
did you feel like you were stuck to your ceiling?
#125
I tried this the other night (i usually experience OBE's in the morning)...I barely slept at all!!! I did not project at all . I did have a complete sense of disorientation (meaning i had no association with my limbs.) But when the tape ended it took me a bit to realize it was even over. I may try this tape again but in the morning some time. I did have a lot of dreams that night but slept horribly.
