If anyone is interested sigmachat has a free java chat that works fine :D Anyone can create one and if you want to chat you can just post a thread saying so and put in the appropriate link. There is also PhpOpenChat that can be made to work with the memberslist from phpBB (this forums script). If anyone wants to do free voice chats there's always ventrilo which can also do instant messenger and IRC chats ... though the free version is limited to 8 people  :(

personally I thihk it's easier just to make those silly rings but ... if anyone wants to use less than honorable means the guy is using the "zedo" tracking cookie ... after you click a banner and visit his site just search for "alexchiu" in your cookies directory and delete the file that looks something like this name@www.alexchiu[1].txt If you take a look inside the info will be something like this ...

2ndgroup
tyciol
www.alexchiu.com/

If you have a spyware blocker and it asks you if you want to delete the "zedo" cookie that's fine too.

Anyhow just click the banner and delete the cookie every once in a while and your count should rise nicely. Just don't do it all at once or they'll identify you based on time and IP number. 8)

Forums Bugs Reports and Questions / Usergroups?
December 23, 2004, 05:24:50
Actually usergroups are used for things like giving special powers to certain users in specific forums like letting GroupX members create polls in certain forums or allowing certain members to act as Forum Police in all forums without being mods in each forum or an admin. They are also a nice way to let people have access to hidden forums 'n such.

Anyways, they are nothing like yahoo usergroups if that's what people are thinking.

"usergroups" are something that the admin can setup and others can join ... it's the link near the top right.

Usergroups are really quite handy but it's more for things like forum permisions and access.

Quote from: TyciolThat's just the thing, I never open attachments, only sometimes occasionally the e-mail (which shouldn't do anything... right?)
Uh it depends on your system   it's best not to open it at all. As for the virus thing ... it's a good idea to run a few different virus scans over your system if you are not sure. However, odds are good that your name just happened to be chosen randomly to make it look like you sent it even though you didn't ... this is very simple to do and just involves the virus fiddling with a "reply" address.

Ummm you may wish to look up the definition of "copyright" claiming something is copyrighted implies that you have a document certifying your work has been reviewed and copy protected.

I don't mean to be picky or rude but there are a number of issues of ownership when "original work" is produced on what might be considered collective public media.

Quote from: GANAMOHA... I still am confused why my pictures aren't showing anymore. ???
It's called "leech control" they don't want active links to the pictures on their server. It steals or "leaches" (hence 'leech') their bandwidth which they have to pay for. You should try putting the images on the free space your ISP gives you.

That's not a "bug" it just happens to be standard emoticon code for that smilie. You can always check the "Disable Smilies in this post" checkbox to turn it off or you can just do this 8)  8)

You may want to try changing your "board style" I'm not sure how many this place has but some "styles" don't support that popup.

Oh and I'm assuming that you haven't changed browsers or installed any popup blockers

I think there was a problem with the email notification. I never got one letting me know that this place was back in business :(  so maybe it's quiet because there are still a few people missing.

Ummm the first planetary hour on Thursday is "Jupiter" hence the term "Planetary Hour". I'm just curious ... where did you get the info that it was "Lemon Balm"? It's probably just a tradition that I wasn't aware of but I would appreciate knowing where it came from. Thanxz!

If you are just interested in the "voice"  you can just connect an Audio Out to your sound cards Audio IN (aka Recording socket). I don't know how old your camcorder is but most have a connection for direct to TV viewing so you just need the audio connection. If it's really old and doesn't have that you can use the audio out from your VCR.

Yes, I'd like more than 10 too if you don't mind ... I believe it's in the admin control panel.

Oh and I was just curious how big is the SQL database? I run a phpBB board and this place is very much larger so I was just curious  :D

You may do better with a full spectrum bulb if you can get one for your fluorescent fixture. Also many people get fatigued by computers because of eye strain especially with the old style monitors. The old monitors flicker more and coupled with the 60 Hz flicker of the fluorescent lights ... it's more than  some people can handle. Some other things that lead to eye strain is siting too close to the screen, especially if one wears corrective lenses, and being confined to a cubicle ... eyes need to focus at greater distances once in a while to kinda stretch.

I used to insert subliminal messages into my signature but people get wierd about stuff like that [B)]

Anyhow here's one between the arrows..

==> <==

... if you can't read it select everything between the arrows and wait 5 seconds [8D]

How do you know that you "always" turn to see when someone is looking at you? Maybe you miss 99% of them and are just jumping to conclusions based on the 1% you know noticed.
#118
I think the idea is a good one! though I think it would have been better to just call it a VIP club and/or an area for private discussions ... just to avoid the apparent confusion. All in all it sounds good!!! [:D]
#119
Just curious ... but are you looking for some additional features or just a formatting change? I run a couple of phpBB boards and they are nice but pretty much all of the features can be found in this snitz board. If it's just the look then that's just some html editing. The phpBB is a fair amount faster but it also uses more storage space ... anyhow I think this place is plenty fast enough [:)]

Hmmm still thinking but wouldn't it be best to record EVP's with 2 identical recorders side by side? If a voice were heard that would be pretty good evidence that it's a real sound. Doing this without two mics would also be a good experiment. A third interesting set of experiments would be to split the mic feed so one mic records on two recorders ... followed of course by one mic-less antenae split to two recorders. Depending on the results one should be able to demonstrate if a mic is needed and wether the sounds are true audio or true RF. Of course if only one recorder picks up the ghostly phenomenon then it would either be random noise or one would have to assume that the recording is not following normal physics ... like say the voices are being embeded directly onto the tape ... no recorder necessary[:P]
#121
Actually that's a thought recording without a mic ... my recollection is that people do not usually hear the voice message when recording but only on play back. So are the voices actually being imprinted via the regular microphone mechanics ... (sound wave rarefaction jiggling a membrane that translates the sound waves into electrical impulses) or is the ghostly phenomena being picked up by the microphone wire (like it was an antenae)? Ok did that make sense [:P] basically a ghost voice could be real sound or an electrical signal.

Just thought it might be neat to see if you can get an EVP with the mic covered or in someway blocked off. It even makes a wierd kinda sense since ghostly phenomena are often associated with strange electrical malfunctions 'n such [:)]
#122
Well I believe EVP is real but I don't think it proves anything about an after life. Since some "ghosts" are considered to be just residual energy recordings it seems to me that an EPV could just as likely be an audio residual energy recording. Neat site though [:)]
#123
Have you tried http://www.farsight.org it's the url for the Farsight Institute. They basically teach Remote Viewing ... there's a lot of info here and they also have or atleast had a free downlodable remote viewing course it was like 25x30 min audio recordings.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / PC Bug!

Actually it's neither adware nor a virus it's an unscrupulus person installing a script that modifies IE and claiming it's legal because you didn't fully read and understand the "terms of service" [xx(]

Anyways to keep it "legal" they usually put a "cleaning" program on their site so you can undo the damage. Here's a place that does exactly what I mentioned http://best-search.cc/contact.html they offer a "cleaner.exe" that may work for you but I recommend looking through the site you are sent to for the specific program ... though even then I wouldn't trust them [:(!]

If you wish to get even ... look up the owner of the website on samspade.org then look at the advertising links on the offending page ... then send the advertizers an email message saying that you were spammed by "owner" of "offending website". The advertisers are always more than happy to withold payment to the offenders [:D]
#125
Well it's quite easy to put messages on peoples computers which are in a way marking them ... as an example you can have a random "cookie blessing" placed on your computer here http://www.sbwave.com/bless and you can verify it is on your computer by looking for "bless" in the cookies directoy. An evil person could certainly put less pleasant things on someones computer if they wished.
