Just wanted to say congrats on the train experience steve, strange in your first post you mention the train also, might become a recurring theme :D.

Be sure to keep us posted on your progress.

Its funny you mention being out of sync while jumping. For some reason no matter how hard i concentrate i cant imagine myself walking. Now i dont use trampolines... ever.. but i walk alot and i find it strange that something as natural as walking can be hard to visualize, my arms are always out of sync etc.

Anyways break over, congrats on the experience sarah :D

Russia Threatens US With Force If Space Weapons Become Active:

Russia would consider using force if necessary to respond if the US put a combat weapon into space, according to a senior Russian official.

Vladimir Yermakov, senior counsellor at the Russian embassy in Washington, on Tuesday told a conference on space militarisation that Russia was working through diplomatic channels to urge the US not to move towards fielding weapons in space. But he said Russia would have to react, possibly with force, if the US successfully put a "combat weapon" in space.

I say again.... lets just hope it never happens eh.

Although not specifically aimed at bush, im not liking the look of this either:

http://www.commondreams.org/headlines05/0518-02.htm

Its strange how a country's government/military etc can preach peace and world stability while simultaneously developing more unique, effective and efficient ways to kill people (and causing other countries to develop the same type of technology in order to feel protected).
I know nearly ALL countries develop better and better weapons as a habit but i think taking them into space is way overboard.
Lets just hope it never happens eh.

Im not sure about movies or visuals but i had the same idea. Ive been looking into using NLP Anchoring to induce lucidity but am having trouble finding something that i can reliably work with in the dream state to anchor to.
Really what you would need to do is create something like a simple flash animation with music or to be honest anything that would stick in your head (and you would dream about), then do reality checks everytime you see it while awake to anchor the two. So i suppose the main problem is influencing dreams, if you can find away to make sure you'll dream about a specific thing then from there it should be much easier to get lucidity.

Hey apmac,
the methods i use to reality check which ive had success with are the following:
Every now and then i just think to myself "Am i dreaming?", i'll look around and usually find some text on a poster or something, i then pick out a word and try to replace it by looking away and thinking of a different word.. then turning back. I usually combine this with trying to change the colour of something (any coloured object/text etc you see around).
To be honest i dont actually think it makes much difference how you reality check aslong as you really question it as SomeBloke said. I usually end a reality check thinking "Ok, i must be awake because if i was dreaming i would of noticed the text / colour change or something equally odd happening". I add the bit in at the end so I get a second chance to realise im dreaming e.g. "hang on.. something did change during that check", instead of just saying "Ok, im awake". And as a closure ill also add that my first ever lucid dreams came from the colour reality checks.
:D

Good Luck!

Welcome to Dreams! / Dream recall
May 02, 2005, 16:48:39
Just a little update,
Had my first lucid dream of my dream recall project lastnight/thismorning. Really good vivid dream and ive never flew so gracefully and with such control (if you dont count my inability to slow down to anywhere near the needed speed to land on a roof). I think the reason for the lucidity had alot more to do with affirmations than anything else.

Anyway, gotta fly  :P

Welcome to Dreams! / Dream recall
April 30, 2005, 22:07:56
Thanks for the info all.
Well.... so far so good, i started my mission on the 20th of april with the aim of getting my dreams back. Before that i was remembering about 1 dream a week if that. From the 20th till now ive remembered about 8 dreams (a big improvement), the latest being the most clear and also giving me the first signs of lucidity (i dream't i was dreaming and being judged on my actions in that sub-dream).

Humbled thanks for the tips, ive also started using affirmations, ive found them to be very useful in the past. Also depending on how i get on in the near future i may also be taking you up on that offer of help   .

Wisp, ive read a few of your other posts in which you mention your dream recall problem. Strange that after many years of good recall you could just lose it even though your performing the same practices(journaling etc). My guess would be that there's a reason for it, maybe a week or so without dream recall caused you to worry which made the situation worse?. Im guessing there definitely wasn't any obvious lifestyle changes before recall began to wane?

Welcome to Dreams! / Falling in my Dreams
April 30, 2005, 21:28:00
Hello Sally,
If your friend is telling you that death in dreams causes actual death then i can assure you they're wrong and that there's no reason to worry.
Ive died many times in dreams, infact as far as im aware dying in dreams is quite common. Usually after i die in a dream i wake, but ive had times were the dream would simply fade out and id enter another dream, no ill affects.

This old post discusses the issue of "death in dreams" and im sure from reading it you will be reassured :).

Welcome to Dreams! / Dream recall
April 26, 2005, 18:29:25
After having many lucid dreams just a year ago I now have very little dream recall at all. The reason for this is almost certainly because of my new job and the fact that I get about 6 – 7 hours sleep a night, coupled with my lack of dream journaling and effort in the subject. I’ve only recently realized what a huge mistake it’s been to stop practice and have now started measures to reclaim my dreams (which is working).
It would help me immensely if people could provide 3 pieces of information. Your average hours sleep, the rating you give your dream recall from 0 – 10, (0 being no recall, 10 being clearly remembering multiple dreams a night) and whether you usually sleep through till morning or whether you usually wake during the night.

Mine would be:
Hours sleep: 6.5
Dream recall: 1
Usually sleep through till morning

Thanks for your time,

Although i seem to have alot of control over my lucid dreams and there environment some things can still cause me problems, changing scenery by will for instance (ive only managed this twice).
It got me wondering how much control we can actually have in dreams and how much we can bend the rules where used to from normal life. Now I tend to plan ahead of my lucid dreams so that when i get them im not wasting them (if thats possible). I maybe set little experiments to try out while lucid, small tasks to perform etc. The only problem is I dont have LD's every day and when I do get chance I dont always get round to trying out things. My idea is to put a list of tasks I want to try on here (other members can add to them), then if people want they can try the tasks and report back on what they found. Im not asking people to sign up to anything or spend lots of there time.. just that when there lucid they could take a few seconds out of there busy lucid dream adventures to try one or two things [:)].

Heres a few i had/have planned (also added in other detail tests):

1.) Walking through objects and methods used - I've done this once and i struggled like crazy, its strange when you feel the object, feels so real against your hand, and then you try to move through it, takes alot of will power.

2.) Changing scenery - something like a tropical island or a scene from lord of the rings such as the final big battle in number 3. Could your mind recreate that, and can you change scenery[?]

3.) Sticking to walls and ceilings - never tried it but always wondered how good i would be at it.

4.) Shape shifting - Saw this in another post and im intrigued.

5.) Telekinesis in dreams

6.) Size changing - Growing taller to a giant size and shrinking to insect size

7.) Flying - How fast, how far, hows the detail, how did you do it.

Other possible detail tests:

8.)Water - Water in my lucid dreams always feel cold and real, never really explored underwater though.

9.)Fire - When near fire in a dream do you feel its warmth? what happens if you step into it?.

10.)Exploring sense of Taste and Smell - Ever eat a big juicy steak in a lucid dream [:)]? How did it taste? A must try for my next LD.

11.)Accessing memory - While lucid remember and think about what you were doing yesterday, How easy is it to access memory while dreaming and how accurate is it?

12.)Suicide - maybe a little wacky to you but i always wondered what would happen if i looked down the barrel of a gun and pulled the trigger in a lucid dream, or jumped off a building head first (never had the nerve to do it though).

13.) Climbing - If you climb in a lucid dream do u feel muscle strain? a recent lucid dream for me seemed to suggest it.

14.)Looking in a mirror

15.)Stopping hands melting - is it in your mind? everyone seems to say your hands melt if you look at them but ive found if you remain open minded it does nothing. This got me thinking whether it happens because we expect it, if so then we could use it to our advantage in normal dreams to become lucid (expectations = reality).

Thats about it for now, sick of typing. For those that might not remember results ive found commenting in lucid dreams helps me greatly when remembering because i nearly always remember what ive said, e.g. "my arms are aching even though this is only a dream".

Anyway this was just an idea but anyone is more then welcome to add to the list or add experiences with dream control and detail on here.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / visualization

Is anyone great with visualization through meditation?
I was just wondering how powerful and realistic the images can be. Ive heard stories of people actually stepping inside visualizations as they become more real, so they become a 3d world which they can move around and experience (would that be classed as more of a WILD?).
How difficult would these type of experience's be to achieve and what techniques can be used?
Thanks for any input

Welcome to Dreams! / Pain anyone?
July 03, 2004, 20:02:35
Hey all.
I had a great morning of lucid dreams yesterday, had lots one after the other with small unconcious dreams in between. One of them in particular worried me though.
While lucid i came across a women in distress, although i was lucid i was following the dream and felt sorry for her. I decided to comfort the woman and put my arm around her, i went to kiss her head in a comforting manner but as i made contact i felt an excruciating pain in my sides. The only way i can describe it is like the pain you get if someone digs there fingers into the sides of your ribs (that really tender part). Now imagine the fingers where 5 times bigger then normal and there where 4 in your right and 4 in your left side.
I can imagine getting peirced by 8 spears at once would feel about the same.

I had no idea it was possible to feel this level of pain in a dream, ive felt what i thought was pain before but now i realise it was more like me thinking about being in pain, this time it was actual pain..

Id love to hear from anyone who's had an experience with pain in dreams before or has any input on the subject, how bad can it actually get?

Afternoon all,

Today i had a strange experience, after waking up this morning i got on with my usual saturday routine, i began running a bath and made my way downstairs. I soon found myself in a conversation with my mum and brother in the kitchen and i poured myself a glass of orange juice, while i got made fun of for having spiky morning hair.
After checking my hair in a mirror something unexpected happened... I woke up again. Ive had false awakenings before so i went down stairs and theres my mum and brother again in the kitchen, i began telling them about what had just happened. I checked the mirror to find my hair wasnt spiky and then after a while i decided to go for a walk outside.
Not long into my walking (in a field near my house) i witnessed 2 dogs with large snouts attacking some other type of animal like a deer, after this they began running for me. After scrambling up a fence i realised i was still dreaming and once again i woke. This time getting up i was laughing (and confused) and made my way downstairs to tell my mum the crazy mornings dreaming, but before i had chance.. bang.. i woke up for the fourth (and hopefully last) time as my dad had entered my room and accidently woke me.

My own mini-groundhog day [:)].. if this happened every morning it could send you insane though...

RooJ

PS., ill leave you with a quote:
Morpheus says, "You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he expects to wake up. Ironically, that's not far from the truth."

Welcome to Dreams! / Advanced biological attack.

About 3 Years ago on holiday in cornwall in the UK i had a dream that i often think about today. Im not sure why its so deeply imprinted in my mind but every now and then i get the memories of it flooding back.
I wrote the dream on the back of a letter i had at hand at the time.
========
Dream:
Im looking at 2 strange objects in a cloudy nights sky. Each is a basic 3d rectangle shape with a 4 sided pyramid at one end. They have writing on the bottom, the name of a country followed by numbers (what looks like a serial code). Although the country is from the middle east (cant remember which coz i didnt write it down, ive just got scribled in the top corner "country started with the letter A"), I get a strong feeling these "craft" are from either china or japan.
Theres a feeling of wonder at this point in the dream as people have no idea what these objects are and more people take to the streets looking up at them. I get the feeling of airships but there made from hard metal.
The objects split up and carry on moving. I realise theres hundreds of them in the skies above england. Suddenly they begin to arc down, hundreds of them all in unison, perfect synchronicity to the precise angle.
When all the crafts pyramid ends were facing the ground some kind of weapon fired and a shockwave of light spread from the ground outwards. I expected to be killed but instead it passed me by, it passed everyone.
After that i awoke in a hospital (still dreaming), i had a scar on my arm, it was in the form of a triangle with a symbol in the middle. I then talked to other people who had similar scars in different shapes such as squares etc, a nurse said it was so they could tell who was "infected" and to what degree. She also said it wouldnt affect me for 6 years and that by then the government will have came up with a cure.
After that there was a feeling of fun in the air, everyone comparing scars etc, maybe it was like in world war where people just get on with it and be thankful for what they have.
=======

I see alot of similarities to independence day in this dream and thats why i try not to pay it too much attention. Just apparently my subconcious wont let go lol.

Just thought id share.

Im not sure this is the right location for this or if its been said before but anyway;

I see the phrase "Anything is possible" thrown around all over these forums all the time and ive probebly used it in the past, its also used on films like American pie and others but how true is it?

After having a conversation with a good friend of mine he pointed out that the statement in itself is actually impossible lol.
Put simply if anything is possible then it would be impossible for something to be impossible and therefore something would be impossible.

I was trying to find a way round it such as "any outcome is possible even the possibility of the outcome being impossible" but i think i just dug a hole lol..

Ive read many sites that said dreams happen during REM sleep and that this state occurs after about 5 or 6 hours of sleeping.
If this is the case though how can people have WILDS without sleeping for a while first. also, i noticed that when my father fell asleep the other day infront of the TV after about 10 minutes he began talking in his sleep, no more than 5 mins after that he was laughing in his sleep and when he awoke he said it was because of a dream he was having.
My mum also confirmed she dreams the minute she falls asleep so whats the deal? can anyone shed any light on this for me please.
Thanks

It occured to me today that in all my years of dreaming, lucid or otherwise ive never experienced weather such as rain, thunder hail or snow.
Sure ive had cloudy or sunny dreams and time of day varies alot, I think ive also had dreams where snow was on the ground, but Ive never experienced this type of weather in action.
On a side note i live in England which can be a very wet place to live, yet even with maybe a week of complete rain in my mind i never experience that in dreams.
This also got me thinking about OBE's and wondering if anyone of you had experienced this type of weather while traveling. As its thought that the astral is created in part by the mind would you not expect these type of weather phenomena to be present in at least a few projections?.

Welcome to Dreams! / Just Sharing 2 experiences
November 13, 2003, 11:48:48
Just 2 lucid dreams I thought Id share to motivate others to keep practicing :).

I've had about 6 lucid dreams all together but my last 2 are definitely my favourite. The others where small dreams where I just get chance to fly and then wake up, another I knew I was dreaming but then went on a trek to prove it to my dream companions. Don't get me wrong I enjoy any lucid dream.. just prefer the longer ones.
All of my others seem to last only a few minutes at the most but the last 2 I had, within a month of each other the latest being this morning, seemed to last ages. For instance I woke today at 8am and decided to go back to sleep, id checked my watch, been to the toilet and got a drink (not outta the toilet) and when going back to sleep I seemed to fall straight into a dream and had the same lucid dream until I woke up 1.5 hours later :S.

LD1.

Affirmations:
I don't use affirmations often because they never really work for me after the first time. This was the first time I used them, they were as follows:
"I will become conscious and aware during sleep", "I will lucid dream tonight" and "I will remember my dreams".

I went to sleep as normal and soon realised I was dreaming, after becoming lucid I looked down, focused and said the word clarity as this has helped in the past. I then realise where I am. I'm outside my house, I looked down to see a bike, I can still remember even now how it was shining in the sun, this was at this point the most realistic scenery I had ever experiences in a dream, the clarity was amazing.

I ended up walking down the street and coming across a table in the middle of the road, it had documents on it which where covered in strange symbols, I began to study them wondering what they mean. It wasn't long before a guy approached and asked why I was looking at them, I replied "because if I don't study them then ill forget them when I wake". I felt paranoid because I knew as soon as you wake you begin to forget.
I met many people I knew in this LD and laughed at most when they tried to make a point, I remember (with help from my notes) saying to a few of them "What you say doesn't matter because your not real, this is just my dream and your in my head". I ended up in a shop where a guy was having a go at me about something, I told him as it's my dream im basically neo from the matrix and I then proceeded to throw him across the shop to prove it.

After the random violence and after walking round for what seemed like a good 20 minutes (with my dream cat following) I began to think about the situation. Id never done this before but id kinda got bored of walking around being lucid. I thought about how I was actually asleep and told dream people that I couldn't believe how long the lucid dream was going on for.
I decided to go to a friend's house but never made it there, on the way images began to get fuzzy and the clarity decreased, I realised I was waking up and couldn't fight it.

I woke and looked over at my bedroom door and noticed the outside light was on, strange as it's normally off by 12:30am and I went to sleep at about 2am. I quickly got a pen and some paper and began writing my dream down and then my sight began to get fuzzy again. I checked the time on my watch and it said 12:00, I then woke properly (I hope :P) and was less enthusiastic to get out of my warm bed to get a pen, but forced myself to while I was still half asleep and wrote it down. It felt like the whole dream lasted about 30 mins.
And if you're still with me after all that thanks for reading and feel welcome to comment. Ill write the dream I had today as reply I think.

Hey all, Ive just had a very strange experience.

Last night i got in late from a friends house, I ended up looking through the forums and didnt get to sleep till about 3am. Id been reading about the mind awake, body asleep method along with other posts.
When i went to bed i started to practice the method but i was way to tired and must of fell asleep. The next thing i remember im dreaming, although i cant remember what of exactly. I believe i was in that state where your about to wake up but your still dreaming.

Suddenly for some reason i got a thought about the mind awake, body asleep method (i think it could of been part of my dream) and i decided to do it (as i said im not sure whether this was part of my dream like i was lucid or this was actually me on the verge of waking and i was thinking it). I thought the statement "mind awake, body asleep" and said it in my head only once and then it all kicked off.

I heard a very loud noise like that whistling you get if you listen to music too loud. It was as if a grenade had gone off beside me. I felt a strong sensation all over my body like a very strong wind, and i could also here a sound like water crashing onto rocks above me.. as if i was underwater it was like thunder. It was all nearly deafening and took me by suprise. While all the noise was around me i suddenly felt myself falling and i got vision.
I found myself falling through what looked like cloud, the wind sound seemed to tie in with me dropping like a brick lol. Then i seemed to pierce the bottom of the cloud and i saw what looked to be an island below, for a second the colours where amazingly vivid, i could see golden sand and the sea around it, trees on the island etc.
But i could also feel my actual body aswell, i could feel my teeth clenching and i tried to fight it by opening my mouth this stopped the experience and i seemed to return/wake. For a few seconds i couldnt move and i still had the buzzing in my ears, i could feel the hairs all over my body standing on end and my whole body was tingling.

It felt even stranger actually when i woke and realised there wernt road works going on in my bedroom or sumthing. lol.

And that was my experience it only lasted a few seconds and after it i quickly written it down on scrap paper, sorry if i babbled abit but i was excited, never had anything like that happen before.

                                 Roo

*note* all comments are appreciated.

ps whether it was some kind of OBE or not i enjoyed it anyway so im still happy [:D]

Welcome to Dreams! / Flying in a Lucid dream
September 08, 2004, 12:48:20
Your mind cant let go of the fact that there should be gravity, try giving it an excuse to believe you can fly such as imagining a jet of light from behind you or some object that would allow you to fly. As you fly more it seems to get alot easier (at least in my experience).

Very interesting, thanks for the reply.
Do these types of projections tend to be harder or easier than the usual methods of projection? I mean on average.
#124
Rastus, I used to have a dream island which cropped up many times in my dreams, no dream home though.

osprey1_5, Ive noticed the same about nightmares, but its since i began having lucid dreams that ive never had any nightmares. Even when ive had dreams that should of scared me ive always been in the hero frame of mind and been the person to go explore in the darkness fearlessly.

Kazbadan, I think for me dreams are an escape from reality more than anything. Sure ive had many dreams which have affected me and even taught me things about myself, and theres always a good feeling after a good dream that can stay with you for days. Its lucid dreams that have the greatest affect on me, that feeling you get afterwards walking through the street when just hours ago you were flying above it, running up walls etc. Its probebly just the feeling of true freedom, the fact that you can do basically anything... Id say they probebly have a greater affect on me than i realise.

Welcome to Dreams! / Making other dreamers lucid
August 26, 2004, 10:59:40
Interesting topic, My last lucid dream was a few days back and i became lucid about the same way. I was walking through a crowded street and 2 homeless guys were walking towards me. As they passed they were both staring in my direction, i asked them if there was a problem and one of them smiled and spoke "question reality". I then realised i was dreaming and had a great lucid dream which included me trying to wake a friend up from my dream.
Ive never seen evidence or heard from anyone i knew that dream sharing is possible and although this doesnt disprove it, even for me, from my own experiences id have to agree with loco that its probebly a dream character.
Would be interesting to do some testing to see if you guys can come up with any shared experiences though.
Anyways, if it is just a dream character lets hope that your brain keeps giving you these clues to help you into lucidity [:)].
