Ceriel N, I wasn't trying to dump on you when I made the 'Smart or smartass' commment.  I was merely trying to explain my position better that while I may not know what your true intentions are or what your real credentials are, that it's still important to pay attention for nuggets of truth and knowledge in what you say nonetheless.

By the way, we should move these off-topic posts to a new thread... hmmm... what shall we call it, hmmm...?  "College Smarts vs. The Self Taught"

I think both are valuable, but considering what this thread is really about, I feel almost that where the topic is heading, is a little too high-brow for it.  So allow my "Frasier-esque elitism" show...lol!  Moderator of this forum or thread or these posts... please move this conversation (at least where it split into something of academic value) over to a new thread?  Thank you.

Hmmm... I wonder if that'll work?

alt0xff wrote, "In order to have a fruitful discussion on these topics and how they relate to each other, one must possess strong background (at least doctorate) in traditional modern physics and be able to work with related mathematical apparati (that require a doctorate on their own), be a philosopher, and have thorough knowledge of esoteric concepts and be aware of the planes of existence other than physical. There may be a handful of such people on this planet, and I'm not one of them (are you? If yes, I humbly ask you to direct me to your list of published books/articles"

While that it is an important point to bring up Alt, (and I hate to play devil's advocate), but one of the current leading star-boys in all of physics right now (and a controversial one at that) is a guy who only finished a few years of physics then went his own way.  But because he was so brilliant (or so damn different, I'm not qualified to judge...) the physics community right now is split pretty much 50/50 on whether this kid is just full of excrement or another Einstein... He has a new theory of time by the way...

All I'm saying Alt, is great ideas often come from left field, you should extrapolate what you need and discard the rest untill someone wiser or luckier than you comes by to correct you (either intentionally or accidentally).  So even if he had those credentials, I'm not sure they'd make it easier to handle for you.

I don't know if Cerial N falls in the smart or smartass category, but enough of what he said sounded spot on that maybe something in it makes sense, then again, I could be grasping at straws.

So very well said Nagual!

jc84corvette... he has a major point, what is your preferred mode of learning?  Having it served up to with an extra heaping of personal bias and hidden agenda or do you want to read those words of truth and/or see it, hear it with your own eyes and ears, by your own hands?

And not just that, since most of us see things differently (we can't help it, I can't be you and you can't be me...) we'll automatically have a different take on the "truth".  Now, while facts are black and white (2+2=4 , the sun rises in the east, death and taxes, etc...)  they're all hard-as-nails facts.  But the truth my darling is such a different thing all together.  Fundamentalists adore it because it bespeeks of such finality and has such a permanent ring to it, scientists see it as an almost eternally ellusive creature and most just stick to facts, distrusting the "truth" even though they know it's there.

You can almost boil down the answer to this, truth is that which the facts fear to point to, but nevertheless, help to point out just the same. The truth is the inevitable conclusion you will come to after gathering all the "facts" around you and assembling them in an order that makes sense to you.  That's why so many people, and so many organized (and some un-organized) institutions hate it and love it sooo much.

I hope this makes sense.

I wonder if Leyla's allright?

Problem solved, thanks  Links Shadow and Adrian!!!

Thank you..here goes...

WHOA!!!  I checked it out and it's probably one of the if not definately the best source of info on NDE's that I've ever read.  Thank you Shaman.
#108

I used to have them a lot when I was a kid, but they all but died off by the time I was 12... I blame it on puberty myself, not an N.D.E., lol!  Further, since I haven't forgotten them, that is one of the reasons I pursued spirituality like I did.

Shaman, thanks for posting that link, I'll check it out.

One reason I heard that soccer is outstripping hockey, baseball, football and basketball for growth among teenager's sports in junior and senior highschools in Canada (it may be the same here in the states, who knows?)

a.)- You don't need to (as a parent) spend hundreds or a few thousand on good (not even the greatest, just good) gear.

b.)- Rink, court, and other playing fees are non-existant to few and far between.

c.)- Being a Six-Foot/250lb. muscled and steroid filled freak of nature ain't a prerequisite.

d.)- You need some intelligence to play it.

That and since it's played by EVERYONE in the world, it's a great sport that can bring us all together.

Enough of that, the new Governor situation in California...?  I wish you the best of luck with Arnold, like I said, I'm a great fan, BUT... I don't know how well a politician he's going to be, that debate he was in scared me because of his obvious ignorance to the political situation in the state, nation-wide, and world-wide, that did scare me.  He' going to run the fifth largest economy in the world?  Oh...sheeeeiiitttee!  I only hope he runs the state as well as his successfull businesses.  I really do.

Anyone read the book "body-flow" by Scott Sonnon?  Good one on getting your overall body mobility back at any age.

Leyla... "got me on my knees, LEYLA!  I'm begging darling please, LEYLA!"  Lol!  Sorry, couldn't help myself, lol!

Good luck and do keep us posted.  I'm here in Houston too if you need to p.m. anyone...this is cool, it probably will work out.  Got a good feeling about it.  Normally, I wouldn't, this situation reads to sketchy to trust, but my gut-feeling is is that it's an A-OK situation.  Again, good luck and keep us posted Leyla... "I'm begging darling please, LEYLA!"[;)]

Like I said earlier, flush him out.  Waiting is just gonna make you more anxious and nervous.  There's a 50/50 chance he'll hurt you.  If you survive and thrive within his friendship than keep us posted.  Other than that, asking more questions isn't gonna solve things, you've asked enough, and enough answers have been offered here for you to mull over almost all the possibilities.  Which means you are prepared, you are ready, and now the only question is, are you able...?  Keep us posted how the meeting goes.

Although I've been a passive listener/reader to these posts on this thread and even though I've not probably gotten off to the best of feet with Mustardseed, I AM glad to see you back.

Go on gentlemen, sorry for the intrusion, I'll continue listening to the two of you...[^]

[?]I originally posted this as a seperate topic but I have deleted that and reposted the question here as it is better served to me and others as a question and not a seperate but quite alike post elsewhere... so here goes.

Now I know that Hinduism and Buddhism are seperate and enlightening theism's in their own right. But I notice a lot of similarities and was wondering if one of the major differences between Hinduism and Buddhism is that Hinduism is more spiritual whereas Buddhism is more philisophical?

Also, where did Buddhism draw its influence from Hinduism mainly or was more interdependantly thought out?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

Gandalf, thank you for your insight into this matter.  You've cleared up a lot of misconceptions I might have had about Satanism...  afterall, Lucifer does mean "Morning star"... but according to the guy at this site, Lucifer and Jesus are but one in the same?  What would proper Christians have to say to this, ha ha ha!  It's even got me a little confused, maybe I'm reading it wrong...[;)]

http://www.jesus-is-lord.com/nivsatan.htm

Ha ha ha, actually I do know what they're getting at but outside their little quackery of a church group, no-one will really hear it or care.  In my mind both the NIV and the King James Bible are good enough versions of the bible to use and worship by.

SCRATCH THAT... I take it back, there are MORE disturbed and worried christians out there than I thought, lol!  Serves me right... here's one more link to the worriesome and somewhat looney christian right...there are more, but this will suffice for now, a good search engine can find you the rest if you're concerned enough to look into it.

I should've made that clear about when I thought the New World was discovered... but I'm glad you agree with the facts I brought forward.

I do believe the New World was discovered even earlier than the Viking settlements would suggest, I'm Scandanavian myself and adhere to the Viking's as being the first Europeans over here.  However, there has come to light, ancient Chinese maps that are quite startling, and you won't hear of any classically trained historian speaking up about those maps discovery either... (I could never figure that out, train all your life in the pursuit of the truth of the past, then when you find something startling, earth-shaking, cover it bloody-well up...strange to me...) These maps have a very detailed drawing of the west coast on them.  The Chinese were in California long before their (much-later-arriving) progeny were forcibly situated there to build the railroad and help with it's fledgling economy...at least the maps would suggest that.  But you won't hear of this on the History channel, not yet at least.

But even taking into account ALL of the above... the advent of a uniquely Eastern-orientated Chinese Christianity is STILL older than all of that.  Not that it's age matters. But it ranks right up there with the fact that I like to point out to most folks over here in the southern states, of, "So you think you're the christian epicenter (other than Rome and Jerusalem of course) of the whole world?"  "Then you'd be suprised to know there's more Christians in China than there are PEOPLE breathing and walking in these here United States."  I say this, not to point out that they are unimportant, but to help them realize that Christianity is a HUGE and wide-spread movement and the tiny ripple it's had over here, while being important, isn't all that spectacular.  Of course, it was taken wrongly so I stopped saying it LONG ago, lol!

But that gets us off the point of this post... if anyone out there knows of more sources for this information, please post the weblinks or the books ISP's here, anything would be helpful.  Thanks.

This would be cool but, who else lives in the Houston Texas area?
#117

There is two other books that you could get that would be full of "Preventative Maintenance" style exercises... they are as follows...

"No B.S. Fitnes"- Matt Furey

"Body Flow" - Scott Sonnon

And how's it going with the running?
#118

And all this is going on right here in the good-ole'-Houston area...hmmm...?
While I understand if you are hesitant about phoning this man, I would think that if he got beside your bedroom at night ONCE, he can do it again and again and again...  And you don't know if he hasn't been in your apartment/house before that point or since that incident happened.  He could be visiting once or twice a week, standing off in a corner or beside your bed and just calmly looking down with his big, psychic eyes at you... you never know.

So it would appear to me that you have but ONE course of action, flush him out.
Now, there have been some good suggestions on how to do that here already and having your friend talk to him was one way.  Another would be to phone him from a payphone, and keep it at that venue till you get to know him better.  Don't invite him home just yet...you never know what he's capable of, since the most dangerous men are usually the most charming and emotionally disarming gentlemen you'll ever know.  And if his motives are of a purer sort than taking the slow and steady approach will just let you get to know him better.  On terrain that's more of your choosing than his...

Good luck and keep us posted.

It's definately possible that something like that could've happened to him, especially given the fact that most of his inventions are still only "Top-secret" projects or Science Fiction fantasy still at this day and age.  Also, most government, military and scientific officials will say his inventions will never come to pass.  I don't believe them, they say this because they want to keep his secrets to themselves till it serves them best to reveal it.

As far as the lifetime Astral Projection goes, I don't know, but his ideas had to come from somewhere... given the time he was from, he only could've come up with just so much on his own, the rest had to have been influenced.  Sometimes I wonder if Jules Verne had a similiar gift since he was talking about the future LONG before it came to pass and most of what he wrote about and said came to be.  Who knows?

So... the more intense the experiance the more of yourself gets invested...?

You know what?  I'll take you up on your offer and I will as often as I can post these shows coming on in advance. Some of what you said suggest that it was probably fairly straightforward why the church supressed these gospels.  If they suggest what you say they do, they'd be dangerous in the hands of young, budding, free-thinking minds.  A concept that clashes dangerously with established/state religions, world governements and other powerful groups who had a vested interest in keeping the people ignorant.

I'm glad someone else knows about the Gospel of Mary and St. Thomas.  Did you know that some Catholics do as well?  My wife for instant, knew of these texts, but I guess it was a case of, "didn't ask, didn't tell".  Turns out that when she was going to university, she had to study some of these works, but I didn't go to a private catholic university.  I'm a community college grad myself, before I went on, and didn't hear squat about these texts.  I guess I have to be like the wise man who admitted there's so much more I DON'T know than I know.

So in the spirit of opening eyes and ears... I'd love to post some showtimes and dates for this FINE group of astrally-minded folk.

Aaaah... TorosDead speaketh some sense.  And to play devil's advocate (ha ha ha) if you woke up the rest of your curiousity you'd research this further and realize both are basically just spiritual manifestations of a culture who doesn't yet realize it can stand on it's own yet.  Then you'd understand both are imaginatory and belief in one or the other (or even both) is just plain pointless.
Have a great day.

Hmmm... jc84corvette said, "Chrisianity, Islamic, and Judaism.

"The Big 3" as some call it. My point is, all three of these religions are under lots of controversy with rape, war and other things. Is this the work of the devil? Or is it humans doing it."

Hmmm...is it the work of the devil? Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! No, those big three religions were f*cked up since conception.  First, all three religions that you mention are close copies of one another.  First came Judaism, then Christianity then Islam.  They didn't have the courtesy to make their own tales up, they just modified older tales from FAR older religions.  Famous examples, Noah's flood, the parting of the Red Sea and the Isrealites exodus from Egypt, the birth of Jesus... all are modified rip offs of older more established (but mostly now defunct) religions.  With all the controversy, wars and strife these big three religions have caused in the world, they are now finally meeting their chaotic, karmal destinies.  What that is, remains to be seen, and whether it will all play out within our lifetimes is completely up to the universal powers that be, but it should make for an incredibley entertaining spectacle while we can see it.  If not a bloody one.

"The birth of a concept, person, act, idea, or emotion is also the very defination of it's end." ~Kevin L L a.k.a-GhostRider (I said that)

I just think it's a cop-out to blame anyone but themselves for their destructive ends.  Especially the devil...lol!

Welcome to Astral Pulse Island! / Astral Locale
October 03, 2003, 22:37:48
I just want to say thank you to you guys for creating a place where a newbie can work the kinks out of his/her O.B.E.'ing skills.  And as soon as I can go where I "want" to go to I'll point my way to this island as it is, everytime I try I end up somewhere else, the last time I did, I think I got close, I was in water, deep, dark water, so I imagined a raft, that raft started grow (as I am afraid of deep, dark water in real life) untill it became a bigger boat, about twenty feet long with robots rowing for me and a couple main sails.  I finally bumped into an island but all the while I was in calm seas and deep fog, I couldn't see more than probably two hundred yards in front of me at the most.  so I felt like I was being wrapped up in it.  Next time, I might have more success. Then again, it might have been a VERY lucid dream, who knows...lol!

I always thought that when the body and mind were truly unconscious that the consciousness itself remained asleep.  When you were asleep, but still partially conscious, then the mind/consciousness wandered in a O.B.E. or dream state, depending on the perspective of the dreamer her/himself.

But in actuality, I don't know, I always thought the consciousness was the REAL you. And the body was just the hardware you peered at the world with and manipulated your way around in, much like a corporeal suit of armour.  And if it is indeed the REAL you, then you can no longer seperate the consciousness from yourself than you could the sky from the gas that makes up the sky.
