I'm into it because it fascinates me.  I don't really know another way to put it.  I see possibilities and potential and want to take that red pill and see just how deep the rabbit hole goes.  I know it's not everybody's cup of tea, but from my perspective it's hard to understand why everyone isn't fascinated by spiritual things.  It's just so awesome!  Haha

I think things like that will only really make sense when I've reached that state.
#103
I thought M theory has 11 dimensions.
#104
Actually in theoretical physics the terms "universe" and "dimension" are completely different.  Dimensions are like the three dimensions of space and the fourth of time and all the others string theory predicts.  All those dimensions are aspects of this one universe we're in, but there are supposed to be infinitely many more completely separate universes.  But I do see a lot of people confuse the terms and use dimension like universe.

If nobody who can help joins maybe one of the member's guids could help in the same way.  I've seen more people on here who communicate with their guides than who can consistently project or lucid dream.

I can't consciously project yet and am living in Hong Kong right now...so I'm probably not sleeping at the same time everyone else is if most of the members are in the US, but I am totally joining this group.

When meditating I count my breaths and try to think about nothing but the numbers.  1 - 100 and then repeat because if I go higher it takes longer to think the number than it does to take a breath. haha

About the urge to move; I read somewhere on here a while back that the urge to move, usually to roll over, is the body's way of seeing if the mind is asleep yet.  Apparently the body likes for the mind to go to sleep before it does.  So if you ignore that urge the body thinks the mind is asleep and it goes ahead and completely relaxes.  I don't know if I completely buy that theory but it has worked that way for me a few times.  I just remember to ignore the roll over urge and almost immediately after that I start to feel exit sensations.

I've never heard of anything like that but it sounds awesome.  I tried it and it doesn't work for me but I think you're really lucky that it's so easy for you.  :-)

QuoteHow do you guys take care of saliva build-up before you shut down and stay awake?

I can't consciously project yet, but saliva build up isn't a problem for me.  When my body is sufficiently relaxed and thinks I'm sleeping the swallowing reflex kicks in.  When enough saliva builds up in my mouth my body swallows it all on it's own, just like it does when I'm sleeping normally.  It can be an odd feeling if you're not expecting it.  That state is very easy for me to get into consciously but I can never actually project.  I think that most people's bodies have that reflex so if you learn how to let it relax enough and take your focus off of it saliva build up shouldn't be a problem.

I wondered the same thing one time so I made an energy ball underwater in a pool.  It felt just the same as it does in the air.  I think the energy you manipulate when you do that is on a completely different level of the...spectrum of existance (maybe there's a better phrase for that) so there's no need for the water, or air, to move out of the way for it.  I also think that when you feel it, it's your energy body doing the feeling, not your physical body.  But then spirit energy can and does affect matter in other instances like psychokenetics, maybe because it's denser.  I don't know.  That's my opinion on the matter anyway.  :-D

Well I wasn't trying to do anything.  I was just in the perfect state of mind trying to stay awake while driving and it happened spontaineously.  I'm sure it would really interesting to do while just riding though, not driving. haha.  I only learned about astral projection after I was old enough to be doing all the driving though so I don't get the chance to try it now.
#113
I once had a partial exit while driving because I was so sleepy...not fun.  It scared the mess out of me.  My astral head flitted back behind my body and I panicked and snapped back to full awareness instantly.  It's a very odd feeling, different than the separation feelings when just sitting still because there's also the momentum of the car.

Quotedear jarrod,

receptivity is important.

When you ask for guidance you need to be able to accept what is happening to you.

When "nothing" happens to you, then there must be some kind of a blockage.

kind regards,

Paul

a blockage hu...That may be.  I went back and looked at my diary.  Three days after I asked my higher self for help I had an awesome spontaneous projection and then another the next day and a close call with intense sensations the next.  Then a period without much activity and about a week later I started doing awareness targeting to try to develop my energy body.  Perhaps l had a blockage like you said and my higher self actually led me to start doing that to clear the blockage.

I tried that about a month ago.  I used as strong of an intention as I could instead of words but either that night or the next day, can't remember, I spontaneously had a pretty cool experience.  I've tried the same thing again but got nothing.
#116
Maybe it does have a function, and we just need to keep developing ourselves spiritually until we figure it out eventually  :-D
#117
It would be cool if it had some kind of purpose, because it feels like you're doing something.  I used to focus on moving objects while exerting that strange "effort" but nothing ever happened.
#118
I think I know what you're talking about.  For me it's kinda like the chill you feel running the length of you spine if you get cold suddenly or if something moves you emotionally unexpectedly, but I can feel it at will, like I'm exerting some kind of effort and can make it more and less intense but I can only hold it for so long before I get tired.

Quotei don't see why not.  if we are all connected at a quantum level (which psi research shows is true) then it shouldn't be a big jump to go into the dreams of others.

Hey PR.  This "psi research" interests me.  What else do you know about it?  Psipog.net was actually where I started to learn about all this.

The Pythagoreans viewed numbers as quantitative and qualitative.  So not only a representation of quantity, but symbols with qualitative meanings.  Modern science has forgotten about that.

I haven't seen anything that's impressed me much with numerology.  I like the concept and it makes theoretical sense, just haven't found anything meaningful with it.

Shortly after finding out about astral projection I went to a university play on a field trip with my high school and AP was referenced in the play.  It startled me because I assumed that it was a very little known thing.  I can't recall the name of the play or even where it was at, just that it was about psychics that could read each other's minds.  My principal was caught off guard because he'd been expecting another play but once it started...all he could do was sit there and look uncomfortable, which was just as entertaining as the play.  Haha.  I've seen the term Astral Projection all over the place since then, in songs(mostly allusion), fantasy books, and sometimes it makes its way into the mainstream.

I don't think you need to explain all about how it's more than just dreaming.  Just explain about the skills needed, focus and control (the opposite of tripping on mind altering drugs)  Tell them all about how awesome it is and explain how the effects of hallucinogenic drugs will hinder their efforts, at least as far as "doing whatever they want" in dreams because it takes control and lucidity away from you.  If they actually listen and get good at lucid dreaming then maybe you could fill them in on the larger implications of what they're doing    At that point they would have enough interest to accept the idea.  I've learned that sometimes if you tell somebody everything right at the beginning their mind doesn't accept it and they lose interest.

I've requested the same thing at a few different places, including here.  I'm aware that developing the skills yourself is the only way to master it in the long run, but the first experience is very important for a beginner so a little assistance wouldn't really hurt anything I don't think.  And also, couldn't the assisting person try to find you in your dreams and help you to achieve lucidity rather than pulling you out of your body.  That seems easier.  I think a little assistance would really help if the person used the experience, and the memory of the experience, for practice and to motivate them, and didn't just rely on it like a drug.  I've also asked my guide(s) to help me become lucid while dreaming.  Never gotten a response.

QuoteI'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was boasting, it took me a long time to get to this stage (I initially followed all of Robert Bruce's meditation and energy raising techniques for about an hour a day for a year or so, then something just clicked in me).

I was just playing.  I really respect people who've put in the practice and have something to show for it.  About a month ago I started doing Robert's awareness targeting exercises and I'm getting noticeable results so I'm going to keep going with energy development rout  :-)  I hope something eventually clicks in me too.

Quoteand living with two Reiki masters, I've given it a fair trial!

Really?  You live with TWO reiki masters and you haven't experienced anything interesting?  That's kind of disappointing.  I was hoping to get into reiki some time in the future.

QuoteIt's probably come about because I'm an atheist with a degree in astrophysics.  When I read an interesting book and the authors try to throw physics into the mix I see massive flaws in what they're saying and end up getting irritated!

Now that's impressive.  Somebody who actually knows what he's talking about physics wise.  Astrophysics has to do with the physics of really big things right, like special relativity?  Have you studied quantum physics?  That's always interested me because of the subjective vs. objective confusion that's going on down there on the tiny level...but I don't know much beyond the basic concepts because once math gets involved I lose motivation. haha
