Welcome to Astral Chat! / Growing A Garden

I got this daily tip today and thought I would share.  :-D

Daily Tip
Growing a Garden

Each Sunday in August we will devote the Daily Tip to the benefits of gardening. Enjoy!

Gardening is a great way to connect with the earth, reduce stress, increase creativity and promote relaxation. Three good reasons you should get down and dirty in a garden:

Gardening is therapeutic. There is even an emerging medical art known as horticultural therapy. People with all types of health conditions, schoolchildren, even prison inmates, are encouraged to learn about new plants and envision creative ways to arrange them in the ground as a way to provide a sense of accomplishment and improve self-image.

Gardening is spiritual. Aside from delighting your senses with color, texture and scents, gardening enables you to connect with nature. Digging your hands through the soil and handling delicate plants can feed the soul.

Gardening is exercise. Gardening is a low-impact activity that improves flexibility through bending and stretching, and has been shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. However, don't let it replace your walking regime or other regular aerobic exercise - do both, for maximum benefits.

I think he left one off though. You get to eat the fruits of your labor.

Those are pretty funny.

I remember I got one that cracked me up, unfortunately I don't remember what it was now. It seems most I get now is just a jumble of numbers and letters that really make no sense. If they are going to email me, they should atleast entertain me!

Biometric passports used by the UK, US and other countries have been cloned by a German security consultant, raising further doubts over the £415m UK scheme.

Lukas Grunwald, a consultant with DN-Systems, told a Defcon security conference in Las Vegas that the data, stored on RFID chips, could be copied on to blank chips which could then be used in fake passports.

You are permenant, but everything else is inpermenant. You will exist forever, and have always existed, but that new car will break down and rust. What good to you is that job you really want after death? The new house with the fancy technology will crumble. Computers break. Earth will some day pass away. If you are eternal, then what is all of these things here on the physical but an illusion?
#105
That is really cool. So you just knew where things were, you were not "seeing" them?

I have been doing energy work for many years now. In my experience energy is neither "good" nor "bad". It just is. I guess runlola described it best as universal life-force energy. The only "good" and "bad" I have found have been within me, and if energy seems to take on those qualities it is because they have been filtered through me to do so.

Yin and Yang are not about good and evil. They are not even about opposing forces but rather the two energies that are throughout the universe in all things, masculine and feminine. These energies are working together, not opposing each other.

I do not know about taking energy from other entities. I have never tried, nor have I ever had the desire to do so. One thing I have always enjoyed doing, even before I knew anything about energy work, is to go into the woods or any area with alot of plant life and just feel the energy. I still myself and just feel. I don't take or give, though it does feel like a sharing is going on. It is very refreshing.

It looks like they have already made the remake. I have not seen anything about it other than here. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450345/

That is pretty wild, Sarah. I really like that quote/poem too.

The Wicker Man is pretty good. I own it and enjoy watching it from time to time. It is worth seeing, especially if you like the older early 70's films. There are two versions, so be sure you get the extended version with the added footage.

I don't know about the remake. I have heard weird things about it that will totally mess things up. Wicker Man is one of those films that is prefect the way it is and should not be messed with, but that never stopped Hollywood before. It would be like remaking The Rocky Horror Picture Show.  :-(

I think I could turn and live with animals - they're so placid and self-contained. They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins. They do not make me sick discussing their duty to "God". Not one of them kneels to another, or to his own kind that lived thousands of years ago. Not one of them is responsible...or unhappy...all over the Earth. - Lord Summerisle

Well that is interesting.

I watched Signs last night. It was pretty good and interesting. I thought it was really cool how in the middle of this big world changing event, that is not really the focus of the movie.

Actually we don't know if his friend is happy now, or if he was unhappy before. I have known some pretty unhappy people that were really into religion.

What is an individual soul? Who are you really? Are you the person sitting at the desk typing or is there more to you?

A drop of water in the ocean still exists. It is still water, yet it is changed but it is still the same.

I have no experience with them, but my memory falls in line with Novice's. I don't remember very clearly, but I do recall a big discussion about it and I think the general concensus was it was not very positive and that it was kind of controlling cult like, but I could be wrong.

My advice, if you get an odd feeling listen to it. There are plenty of other, positive sources for information.

This offer has been around for a long time. Either Randi has no intention of giving the money away and accepting such things, we are all delusional and such things can't be proven or are not real, or no legit people have approached Randi.

I went to see Lady in the Water this weekend. Wow! It is a great movie! I loved it! When is it coming out on DVD? lol

The half muscled guy is so funny. lol

I guess I am going to have to check out Signs some day.
#118
My guess is superstition. I have never actually heard of this before.

I doubt it - it's just one of those things.

I've been doing it since I was a child.  :-D

Sarah

Maybe you are enlightened and you didn't even know it! lol

I don't think its a way to become enlightened, but I think it could be a good way to gain awareness.

What is enlightenment if not gained awareness?

I have never heard of donating blood being associated negatively with karma. I have heard of some religious sects that do not believe in it for some reason or another. Donating blood would be considered an act of compassion and would be a good thing karmicly speaking.
