Blood was once thought of as the seat of the soul.

I'm reminded of some movie i saw where two kids gave each other some blood of theirs and became "blood brothers"

Even in present day Christianity...they talk about being "washed in the blood" and "saved by the blood" and "the blood will set you free"

things like that....of course they believe Jesus was the supreme sacrifice to buy back mankind from the supposed stern king-judge-god.

In ancient days mithraism and christianity were very similar.  The ritual of dipping your fingers in supposed holy water which Roman Catholics practice today actually originated from the mithraic cult.

Of course the idea of sacrificial redemption was deep-seated in men of old.

Ancient men could only get back the favor of their gods by some sacrifice...since they were always in debt to the spirits...which later evolved into gods.

Energy? pressure? sounds like my situation. For me this pressure in my head is probably some repressed anger/fear/frustration/hurt the list could go on.  But basically...emotion is energy.  Anger is energy.  When you get angry your body tightens up as if your going to fight or kill someone. It's also helpful to know that anger is the shadow of fear. So...basically...if you feel a strong emotion...and don't let it go...or express it in some way...it can get trapped in your body...as muscle tension. I mean...emotional energy isn't very dense.  What it does is make your muscle part more dense where it is trapped. Or you could say it makes it more tense/tight.  So this pressure your talking about might be from fear...or perhaps confusion...like in the physics class.  Only you can know. You could try asking yourself "whats going on inside me right now?" to see what emotion is there deep down.  But then again...too much self-evaluation can be harmful...so perhaps you shouldn't go down that road...i've been there....with the help of eckharts book...but thats another story....but...you could start praying...but if you do...let me give you a few principles for effective praying as praying has been the ancestor of much peace of mind.

1. unselfish--not alone for oneself.....       also...pray for values...not things

so...Godspeed

I remember i smoked up with my boy ramone at the mall back in the day....this was like 6 years ago...anyways this was some crazy excrement...and i smoke much more than ramon...we did it all ghetto and excrement...like we put it in a cigarette and blazed it outside the mall....it was so hot...i knew the excrement was strong but i puffed and puffed and puffed...and so we went into the mall...and some crazy excrement started happening...my head started bouncing....it really felt like i was bouncing...i was like Ramone!....i'm bouncing man!

And then i think i began to get all paranoid and excrement...about cops and security guards and excrement...i mean i was so gone....see...when fear gets a hold of ya....it holds on tight. i think the key to peace of mind and to God...is to be sincere..to be honest...despite the consequences...true with yourself...other people...and with God...but to also embrace wisdom with your sincerity...there's a teaching in the bible and the UB...that says don't give your pearls of truth to swine so that they trample them on foot and turn to rend you"

its a paradox...we are a part of nature...yet we can transcend nature...dust to dust...ashes to ashes...now...How can we transcend nature you ask.   We created cars...air conditioning...airplanes...we can experience lucid dreams...perhaps obes (i never had one).

The material self...the ego...depends upon the physical body for its survival.

"The soul is the self-reflective, spirit-perceiving, and truth-discerning part of man which forever elevates him above the level of the animal world."

So....the soul is what separates us from animals.

Ah...the soul is also potentially immortal if it chooses to "do the will of the Father in heaven"

Now...the reality of the soul is not material or spiritual.  It is morontial.  This reality called morontial is in-between material and spiritual reality.

The personality...the way i understand it is that quality in reality that does not change in an otherwise ever changing creature experience.

Of course...there's more to personality than that.

For one...everyone's personality is unique.

One aspect of the personality is Length...the direction and quality

As well that personality is a gift from the Universal Father.

Much love

Greetings Meedan!

From a philosopher's standpoint...sin is an attitude against reality...what is real...Truth, Beauty, and Goodness...manifested in personality as Love, Mercy, and Ministry...shown on nonpersonal levels as Justice, Power and Sovereignty.

God is real...so sin is a knowing rejection against God who dwells in the reality of an all-encompassing Love.

Your right...there are natural consequences from the choices we make..."we reap what we sow."

God Bless

"There is in the mind of God a plan which embraces every creature of all his vast domains, and this plan is an eternal purpose of boundless opportunity, unlimited progress, and endless life. And the infinite treasures of such a matchless career are yours for the striving."

"There is a great and glorious purpose in the march of the universes through space. All of your mortal struggling in not in vain. We are all part of an immense plan, a gigantic enterprise, and it is the vastness of the undertaking that renders it impossible to see very much of it at any one time and during any one life. We are all a part of an eternal project which the Gods are supervising and outworking. The whole marvelous and universal mechanism moves on majestically through space to the music of the meter of the infinite thought and the eternal purpose of the First Great Source and Center."

I believe everyone has a divine purpose or plan for their life. Of course this plan is true, beautiful, and good...for these are qualities of the divine...so it would make sense to me that this plan is perfect.  Yes. But...we have also been given the gift of free will...and it would make sense that we can use this gift to reject all or some of this divine plan which God has preordained. There is a teaching in the Urantia Book that says Thought Adjusters (fragments of God indwelling us) are always subservient to our will. They are kind of like perfect and divine compasses showing us the way...but of course we can choose to go a way of our own choosing.

God bless

Hey Adkha and everyone else...interesting name ya got there. Have you ever had a deja vu?  Where it feels like your experiencing something strange...but yet  familiar? It's quite...thought-provoking.

Speaking of dreams...I understand how you feel...in certain dreams we live out our fantasies...we become the hero...we become brave etc etc....yet inevitably we come back to reality. But then you have to ask yourself...what is reality?

I want to share some truths with you that I have learned.

"God is real" and "God is divine"

"Divinity is creature comprehensible as Truth, Beauty and Goodness, correlated in personality as Love, Mercy, and Ministry, disclosed on impersonal levels as Justice, Power, and Sovereignty."

Now....given the meaning of divinity...it makes sense that to become more real...we must follow God...who is divine...and become divine ourselves...for the command which has been spread throughout the universe of universes is "Be you perfect...even as the Father in heaven is perfect."

One of the greatest commandments Jesus ever proclaimed was "the Kingdon of Heaven is within you."

You should expect conflict from the life as it is lived in the flesh to the life as it is lived in the Spirit. "He who lives fully in either realm...there is little or no conflict."

Remember though what the Son of Man once said..."the gospel yoke is easy...and the burden of truth is light"

Sincerely,

Arie

Fredhedd.....you seem to like plugging holes in what I believe in.  This could go on forever.  I state what I believe....and then you plugging holes in it.....and then I answer that and so on and so on.  I don't feel like doing it.  Anyways you can't change what I believe in.....and I doubt I could do the same to you.   I started this thread because I was interested in what other people believe in and there reasons for it.   It seems that I'm the only one doing it.....and I don't like it.

I would be happy if anyone could state what they believe God is.....what they believe worship is....and if they do worship....why.

I already stated my opinion......and I why enjoy reading all of yours.

Yeah....that really sucks that you have to go through this excrement.  Personally I've been overshadowed twice by a neg.....and that really sucks.  I don't really believe in that neg having karmic relations to your family.   Well....actually its because I don't believe in past lives.  Are you a christian?  Most christians I believe don't believe in that stuff either.

About getting outside help.....maybe you shouldn't trust anyone but yourself.  It looks like you already found an attachment point.  Good luck.

#113
professional?  You mean like an exorcist?  If I were you I would find one.

Good Luck!

ps-  What exactly did the neg look like?

Hey zarklon ......I just did the breathing technique.  And nothing happened....no vibrations no hypnagogic imagery....nothing.   I only counted to 100 though....I didn't feel like going longer.   How long did you do this for?

I feel like I've gone deeper than that on my own.

Fredhedd......your right....I think I just opened a big can of worms here.  In order to have this discussion everyone has to state what they believe God is and what they believe prayer and worship is.  You all don't have to unless you want to but since I started this thread I guess I should state what I believe.

First off I believe there are different levels of God.  I believe there is a level of God that is all knowing all powerful and everywhere present.  Now I do believe this God is a personal being.  If he wasn't then how could I talk to him.  Now truthfully I don't know if this level of God is in time and space. I don't know.  If I do pray or worship....which I don't....this would be to the God that I would be praying to.  Now there could be a God in time and space such as the Christian Jesus....but personally I don't believe in Jesus because I don't believe in the bible for various reasons.  If he really is God I want to meet him myself....and see what truth he unfolds.  Now I also believe there must be other levels of God that isn't personal.....and to tell you the truth....I don't know how many "levels" there are.  Maybe seven....maybe one hundred.

When I say prayer I do not mean just intent....I mean supplication....that is to me what prayer is.   As for worship.....I mean adoration.....thanksgiving.....praise.....honoring....etc.  I can't think of any other words.  To me when someone is "worshiping" God there not asking for anything.

Now I'll state my opinion.  When you look at the universe....and even eternity.   We are little babies....in this vast universe.  We don't understand alot......we each even have to define what we believe God and worship is.   Maybe if you believe God helps you in some way.....then I could see why you would want to adore him....give him thanksgiving.....honor him.   But in my life I have no proof that he has done jack for me.   And I want proof before I worship.  To me I have had to fight all my struggles myself. Maybe God believes that we're not ready to see him.  Maybe the difference between us humans and God is sooo inconceivable that it would be impossible for God to help us.  I don't know.  But until that day when God does something for me....I can't worship him.  Thats my opinion.......and I would love to hear all of yours!

"when struggles are finally overcame, who's to say (if there is a god in the way that some think) that the person in question was the one who overcame? "

Are you going to tell that to all the people who have come out of the worst experiences of their lives....that "hey guess what?  Are you sure you did that your self and it wasn't God?"  Think about it.  If I just came out of a bloody war where my best friend just got killed....are you going to tell me that?  If so....why didn't God save my best friend?   Why would he let this war happen?  Why didn't God perform some miracle where all the guns didn't work?

To me....there must be some natural laws....as to why God can't influence are lives.....we have to do it ourselves.  If not then whats the point of existence....if we don't have to do any of the bad stuff ourselves....we'll just rely on God.

"if someone believes in prayer but doesnt see results that are expected, how is it known that results never occured from it at all?"

From this I can only speak from experience......when I prayed....I prayed for specific things....not generalizations. And guess what?   Nothing changed.  Nada....zilch.   Soon enough....it felt like cold water has been splashed on my face.  I believe I've been brainwashed into thinking my whole life that prayer is of real value.....if your in need...pray about it.  Its almost become commercialized.  I can already see the bumper stickers saying "God answers prayer"  ahhh that is such bovine excrement to me.  Now....I'm not angry....and I don't hate God for this......but it made me realize NOT to rely on God for my problems.  It made me realize that staying true to yourself is the most important thing in the world.  Because who do you have to rely on if God isn't there for you.  Yourself.......it may be the cold hard truth....but to me its true.

If God really could break natural laws....don't you think he would do it.   I mean I don't see God watching all of the starving children in afica and just laugh.  I don't see God doing that.  I don't know.....maybe God has a reason for all of this...maybe even a plan.....but right now in my existence I have no clue what it is.   I think its way to early in our existence to even contemplate that stuff.  All I know is that "God" doesn't really matter.  Thats why when I hear of people beings atheists etc....I'm thinking good for you......I have absolutely no care in the world if someone doesn't believe in God.  Because to me....it doesn't freaking matter.   I could believe some old man is up in heaven watching over us all....haha....and that is God.  It doesn't freaking matter.   If you all want to pray....then pray.  I used to pray...but not anymore.

If you all want to worship....then worship.  I used to worship too.

"how can anyone be sure prayer doesn't work. also, what is prayer?"
I already answered this question.

Geez this is freaking long.....I would love to hear all of your opinions.

Adios

Zarklon.....you just breath in and out and on the end of each in breath you count one second and the same for the out breath?  Just keep counting each breath and if you lost count start at zero?  Sounds very simple right?  Its usually the simple excrement that works and not the hard excrement.  I'll try it out right now.

#117
Zarklon.....your right....I am following your questions and the answers that follow very closely.  I've never gotten the vibrations yet....and I'm going to try that breathing technique.  I'm envious that you got the vibrations.  :-)  Your almost there dude!  Fredhedd thanks for the answers.

fredhedd thats freaking hilarious.  I've been ticked on actually twice by my brother.  I think I'm going to tinkle on his grave to retaliate. HAHA

Next time you encounter a vampire just smurf em.  First form a golden bubble around you.  Then turn the vampire blue and make him small like a little smurf.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / perfection
November 01, 2002, 13:26:29
I wonder how someone would define perfection outside of time and space.   Maybe there is a God that is static.....who always was perfect and always will be perfect.....the first I AM.   Then maybe there's a God inside of time and space who evolves.....and is not perfect in the beginning.  But how can God not be perfect?  That doesn't make sense.  Maybe the God in time and space is perfect but can still evolve.  But how can he evolve if he is perfect?  Maybe the I AM was always perfect but he comes into time and space to know what its like to experience finiteness.  I dunno.   I guess there has to be different levels of God.  I don't understand how God can love us if he doesn't understand us.  Thats why I think there has to be a God that experiences finiteness.  I wonder what eternity is like.  Eternity being a place that time and space doesn't exist.  I guess we really can't conceive of what that must be like.

I think I'm going to start another thread on worship.  :-)
