sometimes vampirism comes from having alien(not composed of the local etheric matter) energies in your energetic essence that doesn't mix well with environmental energies.  so you have to take people's energy- after it has been processed.

and the people who feed off of the depressed and clingy are smart predators, regardless as to other characteristics.

i love toast.  it has to be the right kind of bread, though.....

to get to the heart of MY concern with this thread.  so what if the catholic church has been influenced by heliopolitanism?  As a rule, i consider myself pagan and do not see the danger in this.  what exactly was the point that you were trying to make with this information?  was it purely scholarly or...?
#104
draining another person's energy does not make you dependent on other human's energies.  i have made a practice of feeding off of crowds, and in a low energy setting, such as an office or classroom, have fed off of classmates.  i have never experienced side effects.  when i stop feeding off of people, my energy body returns to gathering energy from the environment i'm in.

human energy is just another form of energy.  there's nothing special about it.

just as a thought, current thought at the vatican was that the perfect manifestation of matter would be a sphere.  perhaps the priest was embellishing his vision with the philosophy of the time.

i think that the error was that 19 (user) was not experienced in dealing with or trying to do his christian duty and help those who don't know jesus to know him.

in time, if he really is sincerely interested in helping others and in getting them to convert- he'll use this thread as a learning tool.

if you wanted to split hairs, the priest's account of Jesus (the vision he had) COULD be construed as just him having some sort of overwhelming divine light emanating from him.  as for him (jesus) being described as an orb.. any alternate thoughts?

i have been listening to "in absentia" (porcupine tree) it's like accessible prog metal.

and aphex twin (selected ambient works vol. 1) is incredible ambient techno.

the book of the sacred magic of abra-melin is not crap, not in the traditional sense.  most people would find the system too rigid, unrealistic and stifling- but there are a lot of things that you could glean from that book that are VERY useful.

apparently my information is wrong.  i apologize.  it would appear that i need to talk to my ex catholic friends

and i didn't mean to pull the abusive priest card like that -that was cheap.  any religion can have that problem, it's just that catholicism has had the most publicity.

1. zoroastrians came from persia. the concept of the struggle between good and evil started back in the old traditions as the conflict in mankind's heart.  later traditions described the conflict as arising from an external source (Angra Mainyu).  these later traditions went on to influence a number of cults in rome, including christianity. this was actually the first monotheistic religion (dating before the  brief sun worship of egypt)(read "from the ashes of angels" or the classic "what the great religions believe")

2. in defense of you, robert, i will say that anyone who knows about the philosopher's stone and tries to use it to convert lead (or is it silver, i can't remember) into gold for money will lose the ability to do so.  i have no doubt about your credentials.

3. i'd like to see your sources on the druids. (just curious)
4.  i actually know someone with the last name of baird, so it doesn't always have druidic connotations.

any group that secretly condones and finances the nazis is not on my "i love them" list.

1. catholics are discouraged from reading the bible, because a lot of what it says contradicts church doctrine.

2. catholics pray to saints and to mary instead of praying to jesus, the real go-between for god and man (according to the bible) (no false idols, no other gods before me)
3. they need priests to absolve them of sin  (if you accept jesus as savior, then you are automatically forgiven, according to the bible)
4. eucharist.
5. there is no emotion in a catholic mass, only people droning.
6. the catholic church is declining in membership (anglican church is almost bankrupt)
7. the long-held practice of refusing to fire priests who abuse children by high ranking people in the church.

do i need to keep going on?

and the druids worshipped a lot of things.  so what if they worshipped the sun.  they had a completely different symbolism and archetypal layout.  i'm tired of people citing the druids as being one of the few of the elite the bearers of secret occult knowledge.  here's a hint for you, just so you don't get sidetracked:  secret occult knowledge has to do with a person's own level of development, not conspiracies.  you need a mind capable of comprehending it.

or how about how modern christianity and the concept of satan is based on the intermingling of zoroastrianism and messianic judeaism in rome.  or how the ten commandments were ripped off of earlier writings by egyptians.

so what.  we know that every religion is a hodgepodge of religions that came before it.  you're presenting the information in a sensationalist way... wahoo.

and lucifer is not satan.

douglas monroe (merlin books) is also a classic example of a grimoire writer in that he wrote down all this information without using it.

half of the ritual incense would kill people if they were exposed to it over a brief period of time (a couple months)

when i do ritual i do it naked.  when i do magic i do it with a special set of clothes because of certain associations that i've built up over the years.

for "vibe" overload:  run naked in the middle of a thunderstorm.

the 21 lessons of merlin is an example of a classical grimoire.  full of information from a host of genres that the author ripped off and sadly incomplete in its philosophy.

Hypothesis:

i think that are urge to do psychedelic drugs on a regular basis stems from our familiarity with taking medication or other pills on a regular basis.  we tend to lump anything that we put in our mouths for non nutritive reasons in this category.  we think that we aren't getting the benefit of the substance unless it's taken repeatedly.

obviously, this isn't the case with most psychedelic plants/drugs.  in my opinion, our cultural distance from nature and the real world also disconnects from any viable practice of using psychedelics in magic.

the 21 lessons of merlin and the sequel to that book.

anything by anyone with raven, moon or wolf in their name automatically sucks

i also don't really care for the Cicero folks who are redoing Regardie's books.

dion fortune is too victorian for my tastes.  psychic self defense had too many christian undertones.

there are no real differences between mundane and spiritual besides the ones that you make.

i would like to do it in real time (i.e. an instant messenger of some sort)

if you don't want to download one of those, which is understandable, i will just use your astral pulse screen name as a focus.

i will do it for free if you pledge to do 10 hours of community service.

i'm of the opinion that carlos castaneda was just hypothesizing.
