Kiuma,
On reading your last post, I agree you shouldnt restrict what you think you'll find, but Id say it might be easier for some people (myself included) who have been brought up in a non spiritual, non religious background to believe in this stuff more readily if presented in a more scientific way. 2 months ago I would have said "this is all crapola", until I saw a discovery channel special that was presented in a very scientific manner. That in turn led me here amongst other places. People on the other side of the coin are used to just "having faith".

I also think Robert Bruce is quite successful in getting through to people such as myself, because he tries hard not to use the classic arty farty terms that make people like me reel in terror :) He also never (or rarely) names "gods" as Jesus or Buddha, and lets the reader have his own beleifs which I reckon is awesome.

Cheers.

Hi Astral boy, I think this has been covered a fair bit in other posts. Go to the search bar at the top and type meditation or meditation technique and you should find some stuff. I think I posted how I meditate at one stage too.

I think you can focus on nothing, but its the hardest way to go, because when youre thinking of nothing its very easy to let other thoughts in. If you focus on breathing or repeating a mantra in your head etc, its easier to stop other thoughts entering your mind.

I also like focussing on all the crazy colours and shapes (sometimes faces and stuff) that appear too, so you could try that as well.

Cheers.

Crazy,
Kiuma I could barely understand what you were on about in reply to my first post. I was merely presenting research which reinforced my belief that OBEs, NDE's, etc were real, and hoped that the links pointed others in the same direction.
Not sure what you meant by me confusing this with parapsychology, I assume thats some "field" that encompases "some strange stuff", but to me, if "strange stuff happens", then other "strange stuff" is more likely to also exist. Yes I know, not very wordy but I bet you understood it :D

Cheers!

Howdy,
Ive noticed something similar 2-3 times. Sometimes whilst meditating and sometimes while going to sleep (although Im concentrating on my mental state while drifting off)
The ball of light I see doesn't "come at me" but seems to wander within my visual field from left to right. It usually hangs around for a minute or so then I dont see it again. Also I dont find it so bright I have to look away. Its not like the usual waves or gobledegook of colour/light. Very interesting I must say, dunno if this is the same thing as youre experiencing though, it sounds a bit different :)

Ive read a couple of posts regarding vibrations and how powerful they are, but Im more baffled by whether mine were (its only happened once) actually these vibrations or just my body shaking for some reason. Do you find that your physical body is actually shaking/vibrating or does it feel different? Same when my heart goes nuts, I find it very hard to believe this isn't my heart, it feels physical, when I expected it to feel at least slightly different.
My vibrations were almost only felt in my legs, and it felt a lot like shivering when I get cold (and come to think of it I felt a bit cold all over, even though it was a good temperature in the room) They weren't constant shaking/shivering feelings, but were like a semi constant low level shaking combined with almost like waves or bouts of heavier shakes... Felt so much like my actual legs, but not sure what would cause them to shake... Any ideas?

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / meditation

I go:
Physical relaxation by tensing/relaxing every muscle you can think of,
Full stretch,
10 deep breaths,
Close eyes and sit, get comfortable,
Focus on breathing in and out, I say in my mind on the exhale "I am calm" breathe, "I am peace" breathe, "I am energy". Dunno where I read that but I like it and use it.
Theres techniques for deepening your level of trance but I dont find they really work that well for me, unless I just havent given them that good a go yet.

The thing Im more interested in is what people hope to acheive through it (exept for OBE), apart from feeling very very very relaxed. Im keen to find a meditation book, but I havent had any suggested to me. Has anyone read one thats really good?

Hi Analyze,
While Im starting to beleive in this sorta stuff, when I read about your aura thing, it sounds like a completely normal visual effect. Youll find if you stare at a black shape over a white background youll see it the easiest. Its just something to do with the light "burning" into your eyes. I think its similar to the phenomena where you if you look at the sun (dont do it tho haha) you get suns spots in your eyes. Youll also find if you stare at a black shape over a white background, then move the shape and stay looking at the white background, youll still be able to see its outline. You can even find tests and eye tricks in books and probably on the net that create optical illusions. Also if you look at say an orange object over a white background then take it away youll get the opposite (?) colour show up, in this case blue.
I wouldnt say this disproves any astral sight stuff though, I swear I saw my astral hands last night while doing energy work. I read in Bruces book that if youve been meditating and try and move your astral hands in front of your face with your eyes closed you can see them... It wasnt easy and I didnt seem to have complete control over it, but I swear I saw them :)

Cheers

Mykungfu- Yeah Ive literally always got that sort of tingling, low key buzzing going on in my feet, I cant say Ive ever noticed it was even there until I started concentrating on this NEW energy stuff, then I noticed that the feeling I have in my feet is the same feeling I can produce elsewhere in my body by using NEW. Odd.
I haven't actually had RLS for ages but I seem to have trouble getting the feeling to raise past my knees, dunno if this, combined with the old RLS, may mean I still have some sorta minor blockage there. Or maybe its just harder to move energy up past your knees??

Nay - Would you just say its a similar or identical feeling? Its always hard to know if Im describing or experiencing the right thing or its some physical feeling Im generating...
