Quote from: xxshimmerxxThe weird thing is, while everyone is telling my not to be lying on my side when I attempt to AP, I always achieve it much faster while on my side!  So I was lying on my side, and the vibrations came. I started to float upward, and towards my window.  Unlike other times, everything I saw in my room while out of body, was exactly like it was in the physical.  And for the first time, I could actually WILLINGLY move my astral arms and legs.
I think the position of the body is personal preference. just do what works i say!

QuoteAs I'm floating towards my window, I paused for a minute and thought on whether I should look back at my body or in a mirror. I figured I wasn't ready for that.  I know it's nothing to fear, but i just don't feel ready.. so I continued floating. I floated right through the blinds and curtains on the window.  It was easier than I thought! I was finally outside, and everything was exactly how it was in the physical.  I tried looking around for spirits, but the place was empty and quiet. I decided to fly around.  This time, I didn't have to "swim fly." I just floated.  I wanted to shout "Wahooo!" But as I opened my mouth, nothing came.
Haha...i flew myself for the first time a couple days ago. right around my neighborhood. i actually willed myself down to the ground and "bounced" back up like the Hulk! it was awesome!

QuoteI don't know WHY... but I decided to go to the moon. First I tried flying there. Then I thought I'd close my eyes and picture the moon.  That's when everything went blank. I couldn't see anything... I felt myself floating somewhere but didn't know where I was. I felt like I went blind. It was all blank. SOooo I went back to my body.

Yeah, boring but oh well. I decided I had to write it down somewhere.

any opinions?
I have felt this too. Im pretty sure you are in the 3d- blackness in this stage. when i had it, i was coming out of a lucid dream at my grandmas. i could SORT of feel the position of my body but not really. it felt like my feet were way in the air and my body was upside down. I think felt myself literally glide back into my body.

Good experience, keep up the practice!

Quote from: interception[Raises eyebrow at Ben K]

I assume it is known that Frank is lost in the "we are not in Kansas anymore" sense of the word?

And maybe Frank is happy where he is and does not want to be found...
Frank owes people money...believe me if he thought it was appropriate to tell everyone what was going on he would. Hes not a scam artist, hes not in some kind of coma in the astral, hes probably just sick. Im sure he'll be back

Now, it would be technically possible to seek out one of franks focuses because we inhabit every area of consciousness already. but that doesnt mean frank will give himself an objective knowing of your contact with one of his non physical focuses. But it is more than possible.

also just consider it a sign that you are shifting your focus farther and farther away from waking consciousness.

its a reaction to your bodies loss of physical stimuli.
#105
Well its also quite possible that you actually had these experiences at one time and are just now remembering them...maybe that was your intention all along?
#106
Yeah i can tell you from experience you WILL notice a huge difference. Just gotta stick with it. Have fun!

Ben
#107
Maybe you are remembering your dreams? We often set "reminders" for ourselves in waking life that will trigger a memory of a dream. I get this often, as a circumstance i am in triggers a memory of a childhood dream. and i had some crazy ones ;)

Quote from: DiViNEBen K: Wonderfully put! I think back especially to the two mild mushroom trips i've had in my life, those experiences really teach you something. You get feelings inside you, that are virtually indescribable, ranging from understanding, being at peace with the universe, to seeing the infinite potential and power we all posess to influence reality. The MDE hallucinations, with such intense clarity, shocked me even MORE, being amazed that the mind is capable of producing such an effect! Really got me thinking just how 'REAL' our reality is o_0

DiViNE

Have you read about DMT? http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dmt/dmt.shtml

Now that sounds like something i would like to experience!
#109
Underdeveloped? If anything i would consider it OVER-developed with all the beliefs and conditioning humans go through nowadays!

Its normal to not be able to see things crystal clear in your mind. Some people might have the "TV" ability but for the most part us humans are required to relax our awareness to achieve any non physical stimuli like that.

Heres a website your gonna love- http://www.winwenger.com/imstream.htm

Have fun developing your mind :)

Drugs are not bad at all just misunderstood in this day and age. Hallucinations not real? Then please explain to me your definition of real! Not-Of-Physical-Origin i can accept, but "fake" they are not. They are creations of your own mind.

The trick is realizing that ALL reality is merely a creation of your own mind. It makes a whole lot more sense then.

Drugs are simply a way to mix your everyday waking consciousness up. Sure we can all OBE and enter the RTZ but a drug trip is like having a lucid dream in waking life. A great reminder, those drugs.

Please keep in mind that im talking mostly about harmless psychedelics, like pot and mushrooms etc. i do not endorse the more harmful drugs like coke, heroin, etc. Addiction is a bit**.

Quote from: mactombs
Quoteso you dont have anything to worry about as long as you realize that you CANNOT "leave" your physical body behind until you DIE

I'm beginning to doubt this is true. I think it is very well possible to leave your body behind - I think the truth is it is DIFFICULT to leave your physical body behind until you die, and to do so is probably a result of a specific intention to do so.
Oh i think anything is possible. But like you said to totally leave your physical body behind i think would require alot of practice an knowledge to do so. So newcomers are really in no danger.

QuoteThis is also debatable. If you are never "in" your body, then what use is it to have this terminology? Would you suggest making all of our references to where we are and how we relate to things as a society moot and start over? For all intents and purposes, I think it's very reasonable to say there is an "in" and "out" ... and that it may indeed be facilitated by non-local energies such as etheric or astral bodies.

Other than these points, I agree with Ben.
The reason I say this is because the belief that you are in your physical body leads to more incorrect beliefs. It is quite fine to "consider" ones self as "in" their physical body. Im definitly not arguing that. But if your going after the truth, the fact is that we are NOT in our bodies. Technically, our bodies are "in" us! Someone holding this belief is liable for other potentially damaging beliefs, like the belief that they can leave there body and another entity will return instead of the original projector. So my point is for beliefs sake, try to think not in terms of "out" and "in" our bodies. It only leads to confusion.

If you realize reality is just a sum of beliefs, adding the belief that "iam in my physical body" can complicate things. alot.
QuoteSome board members have a "focus" model rather than a "spatial" model for OBE. But this doesn't mean that the terms "in the body" and "out of the body" are meaningless, as Ben K suggests. Regardless of your opinions about the nature of OBE, the vocabulary is still completely meaningful.
I never said they were meaningless. I think its helpful to think of ourselves as "in" our bodies during waking life actualy. But when you enter NON PHYSICAL reality with this belief you might run into some trouble. Thats all im saying.

Theres also a matter of PREFERANCE. And i cant argue that   Believe what you want to believe. Just realize reality is a direct reflection of that.

Welcome to Dreams! / Dreamt I had achieved an OBE
November 29, 2005, 18:05:29
The only difference in DREAMING you had an OBE and actually having an OBE is your level of awareness.

There are many different levels of awareness, in fact infinity. Think of it like a cup with water. The cup is your consciousness and the water is your awareness. When dreaming, the cup is empty. The more aware you are the more water in your cup.

So technically, you DID have an OBE. You just werent aware enough to realize what was going on. Which is completely understandable for beginners.

Quote from: RonnieHi, first post here.
Cool forum, great info.

I've just started following with interest the OBE stuff due to some experiences in recent meditations. Im sure that I am nearly there with regards to exiting.

Couple of weeks ago I was in deep meditation, detached from feeling any physicalness and intentionally tried to merge with the darkness of my inner space experienced with my eyes closed. At this point I heard a loud ripping noise which startled me. I understand that this could have been me exiting though once startled I opened my eyes blah de blah. I noticed at this point that there was much heat around the back of my neck
You will hear lots of strange things when you get into the F10 state. The tearing could have been "mind chatter" as i call it. For me its anything from a strange sound effect (last night i heard "BOING") to a voice. If anything view this as progress ;)
QuoteWhat I tend to do is meditate deeply until I can see images, shadows and symbols arising from my subconscious and then much like in Eckharte Tolle's teachings I connect or associate myself with the feeling of my own energetic presence, and its at this point that I begin to feel a bit wobbly or feel part of me outside of me but not as yet not a complete detachment from all of my physical body. What do you think, am I on the right path with this method
What kind of "images" are we talking about? I dont subscribe to the belief construct of a "subconscious" but i will assume you are talking about the sort of "mini-dreams" you get right before you fall asleep? The trick with these is not to get carried away in them, because if you do you will just fall asleep and wake up later wondering what happened. You have to almost look past these images and visualize your OWN scenario. If you havent heard of the mental rundown, check http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17413
QuoteI've still got some fear barriers to get beyond, feedback to the following queries will greatly assist me.
quite normal, i think we all have this issue at one point or another ;)
QuoteI'm sometimes concerned that due to the depth of meditation that I may stop breathing altogether or my heart may slow right down even to a stop. Who is going to breath or beat my heart for me if I leave my body   lol
Haha, well its the same person that breathes when your sleeping! Sleeping and "astral projection" are actually VERY similar actions, so much so that we often confuse one for the other. Breathing is nothing you have to worry about. Your brain will make sure you breate while your consciousness is "gone" :)
QuoteWhen exited, how do I get back in
Has anyone ever experienced any trouble in getting back in
First of all, you are never "in" or "out" of your body. It only seems that way to us because we chose for it to be that way. What fun would life be without bodies? We have a subjective link with our physical bodies until we die, so you DO NOT need to worry about "getting back in" or "being possessed". not possible. You may read stories of people who DO have trouble finding a way back into their bodies, but the experience is a result of that persons individual beliefs, so you dont have anything to worry about as long as you realize that you CANNOT "leave" your physical body behind until you DIE. And you cant die from OBEing, unless someone kills your physical body while you are "away".

QuoteCan anything cause you any harm at all wether during the process of trying to get out or whilst out and about
Nope. All harm you may feel is a direct result of YOUR belief. So believe no harm will come to you and no harm will.

QuoteThanks for any feedback.

Again, nice place.
Cheers

No problem, i have alot of free time right now ;)

Also, read all the topics

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=46

and

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=44

The main thing to realize is that your beliefs are everything. literally everything you will experience, wether it be in life or on the "astral plane" is a result of your belief. your beliefs create your reality. So dont go into the "astral" believing in demons or devils, because you WILL SEE demons and devils! On the other hand, realize there is no such thing as these things except in your MIND and you will be fine.

Good Luck!

Ben

Cuz hes lost!
#116
Yeah theres really no such thing as "dreaming" an OBE. You are either out of your body and aware of it or you arent aware at all.

The reason for this is dreaming and astral projection takes place in the basically the same area, PF2. Some people project to PF3, but for most people its their own private area of consciousness, PF2.

Read this topic - http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17413

The problem you had, which is common for us beginners, is losing awareness. This can lead to slipping into dreams, like mactombs said. The only way to improve this is with practice and the use of a dream journal can help as well. Just write down your dreams on a pad of paper every morning directly after you wake up. This leads to much greater memory and awareness when your in the obe "state".

Wow crazy experience!

I know that feeling of hanging on to lucidity. Its like at any moment you can float away into a dream. Im sure control comes with practice.

Keep us updated on the hunt, i know frank could probably use some help where he may be.

each person is different. i would definitly consider this progress. just keep practicing is the best advice i can give :)

now that you are familiar with that state, get back to it and take it a step further. next time take it a step further than that. keep up that pace and progress will come fast and noticeable ;)

today i was sick all day. couldnt eat lunch with my relatives, and i was stuck in bed.

I did mention to get to the "astral eyes" stage, where I could see my room with my eyes closed. It was pretty cool to see because everything in my room had taken on a "Victorian" style look.

The biggest problem I now encounter is actually remembering my experiences. I didnt even remember this one until a second ago. Any tips on this? Maybe I should start a dream journal?

Quote from: Pineapple manIve read many articles on AP that say science is starting to take notice and tests are being caried out in an attempt to prove/disprove AP.

does this mean therefore that if/when AP is proven by science,
(which seems perfectly resonable to me as the astral plain/ astral body is all to do with different vibrations and frequencies, things that are already common scientific knowledge)

life after death will be proven by science too, (as death will be just a permanent separation of the astral from the physical)

Then, maybee the theory of life after death (permanent separation of the physical from the astral) will beome as accepted as any other scientific thoery such as gravity or photosynthasis.

I realise ive jumped the gun tremendously, and its all just theoretical, but the futures going to happen some time and i do think that, just like the first discovery of the earth being round instead of flat and other such revelations, is Astral projection or even the accepted norm of life after death going to be the next?

And what then will be the impact on a world wide sociological and religious scale?

Just a few thoughts,
What do people think?
Haha, you are exactly right!

You will see this scenario happen in your lifetime. Science will discover all the focus stuff, (if you count http://www.monroeinstitute.org/ it already has) and it will become common knowledge.

This will of course, wreck religous institutions once and for all. They are already irrelevent anyway, of course, but IN YOUR LIFETIME religion will be gone, dead.

The implications are astounding, batman!

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Astral Screen?
November 24, 2005, 02:54:53
I believe its an f2 overlay ;)

I get this effect on and off, i think it would be a nice thing to learn to control it. Il report any findings :D

and good link hannah!

One of the differences may revolve around a stronger sense of self in the astral screen effect in that you watch a movie screen with a strong background effect of the self doing the watching. Also, in focus 10 there is the tedency to revert far more asier back to the physical context, and as such the images of focus 10 are far less stable. In a sense then, focus 21 (with the astral screen) operates with a diferent background context (non-physical sense of self).

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Frank's virtual classroom

Quote from: SliderI am assuming there has been no news or word on Frank?

I have been trying to do the Phasing techniques for 3 months or so, at least as much I can understand of it.  I keep trying to relax and notice and sometimes I see things like star fields, feel lighter and a little bit of a conscious shift  but they seem far and few in between.

Yesterday after work was weird... I got home from work and was a bit tired since I cleaned up all of the leaves the night before.  I sat on the recliner and got comfortable. I was just trying to do some visualization affirmations for something different to do.

I found my barely able to keep attention and focus as I was drifting into and out of sleep.  I was really trying hard not to fall asleep.  I never got through all of the visualizations  which only takes 7-10 minutes.  Into and out of sleep I went....  The next thing I knew I had these vibrations I don't mean tingling I mean vibrations.  I've heard of people having these before OBE's.  Even though I've been trying the Phasing stuff (don't really no too much about it) I thought this was an opportunity that a lot of newbie's hope for.  If I thought about the vibrations they seemed to diminish.  I tried to go with the flow and let them happen and they got more intense.  It felt like someone was squeezing my heart and it felt as if it might explode.

Being the first time this happened to me I didn't know what to do next plus I was nervous about the whole thing.  It did take me awhile to be able to open my eyes and come back and move around.  I did want to continue but didn't know what to do or to expect and was nervous.

It was weird because like I said my body was tired from the night before and full day of work and the whole episode I barely tried to do anything, I mean I could barely keep focused.  Maybe I just got lucky with the whole thing.  Looking back I guess I should have let the vibrations get really intense to see what happened.

Any advice as to what I should do if I ever have this happen again?  I really do hope it happens again I would like to experience an OBE even though I think I have been practicing the Phasing techniques.

Thanks.
I really dont think this is the right thread for phasing questions, so you might get more help if you make a seperate thread for your question.

However, it seems like you answered your OWN question when you said "Looking back i guess i should have just let the vibrations get really intense to see what happened". MOST people who get the vibes dont get very far their first time, its just too weird of a sensation to ignore if youve never felt it.

Keep practicing and you will get the vibes again. Whats better, now that you are familiar with the state it will be easier to get back. So good luck ;)
#124
I honestly think your doing everything you can. Changing beliefs(which is what your doing when you "practice", changing long-standing beliefs about what is and isnt possible) is always hard, especially in regards to this subject.

Just keep practicing, ignore all the unwanted sensations, and try to make every practice session count. If you cant stop the vibrations, dont worry about it, just learn to ignore them. They will decrease with time, along with all the other unpleasent sensations you are experiencing.

PS I dont think its a case of "focusing". The whole trick is to get the focus OFF your physical body and ONTO non-physical reality. So too much focus can be a bad thing.

Quote from: RooJCongrats on the excellent picture knightlight... ohh, and nice experience there Ben   .

Seriously though, when i first started out, this was my ultimate goal, especially after reading a post by mustardseed about a phasing type experience he had. My goal was to be able to come in on a cold and rainy day from school/work and spend a good 30 minutes soaking up the sun on a tropical island or maybe exploring a huge mystical forrest etc. I suppose it was escapism that first pulled me into this somewhat underground world.

As knightlight said, it seems alot of us are beginning to have more/better experiences... and maybe, just maybe i might be able to reach my goal also   . Certainly a great experience Ben and i wish you many more.

>RooJ
I think escapism is justified in this piece of blank world we now inhabit. Who wouldnt want the ability to do whatever you want?

Im sure you will be able to one day reach your goal. Just a matter of time. And time is nothing!
