Interesting experiences, Allanon. Let me ask you some questions.

You have seen Jesus by OBEs, why do you feel that the rest of us cannot find the truth as well? Why is it that we all must be influenced by Satan merely because we seek to find the truth in the same manner as you?

You have seen Jesus, how does that make the Bible absolutely true and unchanged? It may reaffirm your beliefs in Jesus, but that does not mean that what men have written and copied has not been changed.

Is Jesus by any other name not the same? What I mean is, you go to the Spirit Realms and you see Jesus. Someone else goes and sees an enity that they perceive by another name. Is it not possible that they are seeing the same thing, but perceiving it differently?

I do not think that humans can know the abosolute truth because we are not capable of perceiving all things from all angles. I think that is how one can know absolute truth, by perceiving all things from all angles. Humans will always only be able to see a few sides and not the whole picture. If there is no absolute truth, then is that not the absolute truth?

I was told that if a woman gets an abortion that their will be a hole (for lack of a better word) in her aura for the rest of her life.

Peace,
Paul

Maybe this "hole" is the reflextion of the woman's feelings on the abortion later and not caused by the actual act. Something that is rarely talked about is the effect that aboration has on the woman's emotional state. I have read articles where most women who were studied had emotional problems because of having an aboration. I have spoken with a few and they all felt really bad about doing it later, probably to the point where they need to get some counceling. They may still feel it was the best choice, but it still effected them deeply emotionally.

What I really mean about abortion is that IMO, it should be treated on a case by case basis. To say flat out that it is wrong 100% of the time or even right 100% of the time is not the right way to go about this.

I will agree that it should be a case by case basis and that it is not 100% right or wrong. I am actually torn in two directions on the issue. It is each person's choice, so unless it is my choice I will not worry too much about it.

That is interesting about about the mothers experiencing the spirit of their child before birth, or even conception.

Interesting post, pmlonline. Thanks for posting it.

Humans have not gone very far beneath the surface of the planet, not compared to how much there is. So is not everything about Earth's core only theory?

Just to let those who might want to know, I just saw on the news that they removed the monument today.

The news also showed how different the commandments can be between the religions that use it. Like for the Jews, they said that the first commandment says nothing about "having no other gods" only "I am your Lord God that brought you out of Egypt", or something like that. The Christian divisions they showed all had the "no other gods" clause.

Why is it so easy to find things to argue about and so hard to find ways to get along with each other!?

Well on a message board opposing views tend to keep it alive with discussion. For me nothing I post is intended to be taken as arguing. So I hope no takes my posts as such. I like to discuss issues, and sometimes I will bring up things just to make people think. Everyone has the right to their own opinion and I respect everyone for that. I hope I come off as such.

American politicians seem to be declaring war on Christianity and I can't figure out why. It's scary!

When I was a Christian I thought the same thing. Now that I am no longer one I see things differently. It has nothing to do with any hatred or dislike with Christianity. I just have a broader view now than I once did. I think this idea stems from what most are taught in church, that it is the world against the Christians. For some reason Christians (and I use this in general terms so no offense to anyone) seem to have this desire to have their symbols posted all over, as if they need to mark their territory or something. Any threat to those symbols they take personally as if the person, organization, etc is attacking Christianity and the person. I see now that this is not true. The government is not waging a war against any religion, but instead it is trying to keep equality between them. Some religions such as Christianity have a very out there approach while others are more laid back and do not practice "recruiting". This being the case, Christianity comes up more in the news and such. Christianity and Christians have a lot of freedoms, you just see the negative because that is what is put in the news because that is what sells.

I agree that we should not worry about the future but instead live in the now, for now is all we have.

I did not think WalkingThePath came off as being fearful, only seeking information. But since the fear factor has came up, I wonder if as 2012 approaches if the doomsayers will not become worse than they were as the year 2000 drew near. 2000 was seen as the end of the century and had no true indication of any kind of end or change, but their are references to 2012. It is the doomsayers and fanatics I dread more then the year or any kind of change.

Hmmm, interesting topic and sure to be controversial, esp with the abortion debate and so on.
I've always thought that if re-inacrnation is a fact then the hang ups about abortion would not be nearly as bad. The worries about abortion seem to stem from the belief that an individual has one life only, making it all the more precious.

However, if we knew at what point an individual entered the 'body', that would help (assuming re-incarnation is a fact).
Interestingly, the notion that the spirit is present or indeed is created at conception is a relativly newer concpet of catholicism, this being decided around the 10th or 11th century I believe. I'm sure Thomas Aquinas has something to do with this, but I might be wrong, someone might want to check it out!

It seems to me that this change was made to reinforce the belief in 'one life only' as promoted by christianity. Think about it; if it was not clear when the spirit arrived and some might have speculated that it arrived after several months and so on, this would get people questioning just *where* this spirit came from- not a good idea as far as the church is concerned. Therefore the 'present at conception' idea neatly tidies up this dangerous area, as now the physical act can be seen as being the absolute starting point of life (with god's help of course).

Because catholics seem to get particularily hung up about this area they tend to be the most rampant anti abortionists.
You can probably tell that I am pro-abortion. My ex-girlfriend was not.
She says that her mother almost had an abortion but was 'persuaded' not to by the catholic church, which my girlfriend is thankful for as without them 'she would never have been born'.
When I pointed out that its not a major problem as she may well have been born somewhere else instead (my re-incarnation belief), she did not take kindly; probably why she's my EX-girlfriend hehe!

Just pointing out that if re-incarnation turns out to be true then a lot of heat would be removed from this debate (or raging argument in some circles!)

Douglas

Douglas, I disagree with your reasoning on abortion. So what if reincarnation is a reality. Why does that make it ok to stop one's incarnation this time around? My soul might be eternal, but I might have had big plans for this incarnation. Maybe I was going to bring about world peace, but oops screw that idea. Clearly the idea of reincarnation devalues life to some, but to me it changes nothing. Each incarnation on the physical is as important as if we only get one chance. Life is precious reguardless of what form it takes. Using your reasoning I could say it is ok to go around killing who ever I wish because they will just come back again anyway so it is no big deal.

I think that there is an absolute truth, but I do not know what it is. If we all follow the same path, then we will all find the same truth. But how do we know that it is the absolute truth for one path leads to one destination. If we all follow different paths and everyone finds the same truth, then it is much more likely that it is a solid and absolute truth since it was tested by many different means, ideas, and people. So we each need to follow our own path to do our own tests to do our own part in seeing what is the absolute truth.

To me it sounds like your dad does not want to quit. You cannot make someone do something they do not want to do. So the only way I can see that you can help him to quit is to give him an incentive to quit. Something I can think of is to tell him that you would like to spend more time with him. Do something you both enjoy such as going to the gym, sports, or whatever. Then tell him that you really cannot stand the smell of the smoke and that you care about your health and do not want him to smoke around you, so ask him not to smoke when you are going to be doing your thing together. Hopefully he will enjoy spending time with you more than smoking.

There is nothing wrong with alcohol when used responsibly. In moderation wine and beer have health benefits. Alcohol was made illegal at one time in the US, but it caused more problems than it cured. People still wanted alcohol, so criminal organizations gained power by supplying the demand. The use of alcohol goes beyond just wanting to get drunk. It is part of many cultures, used a lot in cooking, etc. And contrary to popular belief most are responsible drinkers. But like with anything, people can become obsessed with something. But this is usually to make up for other problems they have, which is probably your father's problem. He may well be substituting smoking for dealing with some problem he may have. Spend more time with him and maybe you can find the real problem and help him deal with it.

I found Secret of the Soul by William L. Buhlman a good read. It explores more of what astral projection is and experiences while not talking much about technique.

According to the Christain Bible Jesus said to obey the government authorities that rule over you. So really this judge is going against the word of God that he claims to believe in and is not doing the right thing for anyone. In which case it seems that he is only after attention and nothing more, which from an article I read awhile back is not uncommon for this man. If this is something that he truly wishes to do, then he should work within the law to accomplish it.

I have read the Christain Bible many times. [;)]

We could ignore the whole religious issue and look at the other things this judge has done. He asked if he could put up this monument, he was told no yet he does it anyway. I wonder what kind of judge breaks the laws just to please himself. Next, did he get a building permit to erect this monument? hmm ... Then, this is public property not his own, so why is it that he gets to put whatever he wants on it reguardless of what those above him says? This is his place of work. If I should go to work and put up something that those above me have told me not too I might be lucky to have a job the next day, but you can be sure that whatever it is I put up would be gone.

To me, by the government having religious monuments it is "respecting an establishment or religion" or promoting it. To me this part of the Constitution says that the government cannot promote any religion. So what this judge is doing is wrong.

If the founders of the US wanted government and religion to co-exist then they would have stated that the US was a Christian government and nation. Instead they clearly did not want the two to mix by stating "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion ...". If they wanted the government and religion to mix, why then did they state that no laws shall be made respecting any religion?

I have read and watched shows about this (scientific sources). It seems that there is scientific evidence that this will happen and has happened in the past. I have no idea when it will happen, and neither does the scientific community. It seems to really be anyone's guess. I have heard it could happen soon or it might be hundreds or thousands of years.

Maybe so but this is not really healthy and it does nothing for someone who wants to loose weight and keep it off because when they start eating again it will come back.

This is a good idea, though I am not sure about making sure all portions are correct. But it is a good idea when we eat to not keep eating until we feel full. It is best to eat until there is no more hunger, but stop before the full feeling.

I must agree with no_leaf_clover and goingslow. The government is suppose to remain separate from religion. By displaying religious rules they are endorsing a certain religion. Though many of those rules are common sense rules (do not steal, do not kill, etc) others are clearly religious in nature. Not only is one religious in nature, it flat out states that this religion is THE religion and that no other ideas are allowed, Thou shall have no other gods before me. That statement right there is rather offense to anyone that does not agree with this religion. The US government is not suppose to alienate any of its citizens. It is there for everyone. As the statue mentioned, it is there to blindly serve the people reguardless of their race, sex, or religion. So basicly this judge is trying to force his views on everyone else by displaying this on a government building. He is free to do so on his own property, like everyone else. He is free to stand on the corner and preach all day long. But he represents the government when he is a judge and must obey the laws of the government he represents.

How would you feel if this judge was Hindu, and was putting up idols of his god all over the government building and putting up religious Hindu text? Ask yourself, why do you support his actions? Is it because you agree with his religion, or his actions?

Yes this lack of breathing is normal. While concentrating on your breathing can help you relax, once in trance it is best to ignore your breathing. Thinking about breathing will keep you in your physical body. Your astral body has no need for breathing so when there you will not.

I have never been attacked by anything. If you are afraid and think you will be attacked then there is a good chance that you will be. Nothing can really hurt you in the astral, so even if something confronts you it is important to remember this, try to learn and understand the situation, and remain calm and passive.

I read about this recently in Astral Dynamics. Robert Bruce seems to think that it is not possible, though he does not know for sure. This idea seems to be like an urban legend, everyone has heard about it but no one has experienced it first hand. It seems that nonphysical beings have an idea about what they are doing as I have read of people being helped out by them (not astral projectors), and possibly experienced it myself though I am not sure about it.

I will guess and say that it is possible to help others out of body, but I do not think that the way to do it is how you would think. I do not think you can just grab someone and pull on them to pull them out of body. As Robert Bruce says, to the one being pulled out this will probably just feel like a psychic attack if anything. So I really am not sure how to do it. Robert Bruce does state that you can awake a sleeper and go off an adventures with them. He has done this many times. The problem with this is that the sleeper never seems to remember the experience. So it is my belief that it is best to just learn to do it on your own, because if you are not developed and ready for the experience it will probably not be a good experience and you will probably not remember any of it anyway. Likewise, when someone else does help you out, I think they only can if you are ready to experience it.
