goingslow, is that book fiction or nonfiction? If nonfiction, how was it written?

For me personally, if I had to spend more than a few months in such a condition I would want to die. Starvation might be a slow way to die, but it is faster than decades. I see little to learn in such a terrible condition. It does not benefit anyone. You are miserable and your family is left with a large debt, all for what?

But, what about us? Those of us that know about AP? If in such a condition we would have plenty of time to perfect our skills in leaving the body. What else are you going to do? It seems that after awhile, we could just stay out of the physical and never return if we so wished. Our consciousness would have no need for the body, and the body would have no need for the consciousness.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / serious problem?

Do you know if your daughter even comes to these forums? I have never seen anyone on these forums, or even Robert Bruce, tell someone not to seek medical help when needed. In fact almost everyone on here advises people that experience any kind of physical problems to check with a doctor to be safe. I am sorry to hear about your daughter. I am sorry that she will not seek professional medical help. But you are placing the blame on the wrong place. Most people here are rational and would never tell your daughter not to get medical help if she needed it.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Pulling out

Reading in Astral Dynamics I came across this topic. Robert Bruce says that though he has heard that people can help you out he has never actually experienced it or has any personal experience with it actually happening so he does not really think it can be done. What he does suggest if someone is going to help you out is have the projector to be go to sleep and have the person that wants to help wake you up once you have separated in sleep. He said he has done this many times. The down side is that the sleeper usually never remembers the experience. So basicly what I got from this is, until you can do it yourself there is not much point in getting help as it seems you are not developed enough to remember or be effective. So just keep trying on your own. You will do it some day.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / NEW Energy
August 08, 2003, 05:17:11
I know many times I have been practicing NEW and suddenly felt like I could leave my body and did. So I think it can help. Also having more energy will help you better remember you experiences.

I was reading Astral Dynamics last night and came upon a section about meeting others in the Astral. Robert said that unless you have a close, positive relationship with someone that it is difficult to go to them when out of body. So I do not think that you have to worry about someone coming to spy on you, unless they have good intensions.

Kazbadan, that dizziness you felt was probably just an exit sensation. I know that many times I will start to feel like I am spinning around before I exit. Sometimes this can be a little uncomfortable if not all of you is spinning. I remember one time it felt like my body was out and spinning but my head was still attached. My body was floating and spinning all over. It was uncomfortable, but that was about it. APing will not hurt you physically, so do not worry.

Thank you, Nick.

Thinking about it, I do not think there really is anything to actually see in the Astral. I think it is just how we interpret what we perceive. Those of us that can see rely heavily on vision so when we perceive something in the astral we make a visual interpretation. I remember reading someone's experiences who, though not blind, had many astral and RT experiences where he did not see visually yet said he knew where everything was. He actually knew more details about everything than one would by seeing it visually. So I am wondering if those who never had sight may not have an advantage in the astral over those of us who are more visual. Due to the way we learn to see, we tend to focus on one thing or area and disreguard everything else. Taking this habit with us over into the astral can really limit us in what we experience, unless we break from this habit when we go into the astral. Maybe we should strive to not be so visual and more open to knowing what we are experiencing instead of just seeing it.

I was reading Astral Dynamics last night and came across meeting others in the astral. It was kind of brief but Robert said that if the person is asleep or already out of body, as you are about to exit or just trying to exit you should call out to them, not vocally but with your mind. If you are already out and wish to go to them you can think about them and feel for them. Feel as in each person has a certain feel to them, if that makes any sense. Basicly think what it feels like to be around that person and you should go to them.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Hi
August 08, 2003, 04:39:49
I have not experienced the voices but I know many people have. Robert Bruce says that is it most likely that you are perceiving the energies of exiting the body as sound, interpreting them as voices. Just ignore them until you are out of body, if that is what you want to do. If it continues once you are out, unlikely, then try to find out who it is and what they are saying.

I wonder how many conquerors and dictators have spoken these same words. haha No offense [;)]

Your laws sound rather nice.

I am not worried about finding the right person. I already know it will happen, in this life or the next.

What makes you think that any of us are meant to find a right person? Or that there even is a right person?
(I am just asking, I hope I do not come off sounding rude.)

but in my opinion the single most important factor in what makes a relationsship work is HAVING THE SAME GOALS.

I think this is very true.

- One of the things that scares me about the idea astral travel is that there would be without a doubt people that would use it for negative or "voyeuristic" purposes. This makes me a bit uncomfortable. Are these people able to indulge in their desires?

You can do whatever you want on the astral. So yes people could spy on you with they so wish. But it is unlikely that anyone would. Once you get out it can be a rather overwhelming and enlightening experience. Most people do not think about doing such things as spying on someone else.

The astral can be all about your desires, but there is a catch. To truly be able to navigate out of body you have to have control over your thoughts and emotions as they can color your experience. Emotions on the astral can be very in your face. They are much stronger there and can easily overwhelm you. If this happens you will most likely find yourself back in your body. Being calm and passive is a must for any real astral work.

quote:
- Could I meet a long lost friend (still alive, but lives far away) and see them as they are accurately? How about someone I've known but have never met before?

I have never gone to meet someone when out of body, but yes it possible. Though it can be difficult, especially if you have never met the person before.

quote:
- I read in a book that through astral travel, one could travel into the past, which i find pretty interesting. An example the author gave, was that you would be able to see the first preformance of Hamlet if you so desired. Will it be the real thing, or something constructed out of the imagination? If a person experiences this, will they hear all the lines exactly as they are, or only the ones the person remembers from reading the play? what if a person has never read Hamlet at all?

There is no time in the astral, only that which you bring with you in your perception. So yes you should be able to do this. I have never thought about it or tried so I cannot tell you much about it.

quote:
-I do plan on buying Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics, but his second book, Practical Psychic Self-Defense, also caught my eye. I don't want to scare myself needlessly, but it if it will help me protect myself against anything that could happen in an AP I would like to have it. Would anyone recommend it for this purpose, or should I skip it?

I strongly suggest that anyone new to AP not read Practical Psychic Self-Defense. It is not a book for everyone, only those that are plagued by this problem. The main reason I strongly suggest against it is because, as Frere has stated in recent posts, it gives a gloomy outlook on AP. Since the astral is very thought and emotion sensitive and you enter with these gloomy negative thoughts you can find yourself in a gloomy negative place. It can also lead you to believe that common, normal sensations you feel while trying and during projection are more than they are, or more negative. I have projected many times, though not to the extent of some on this board, and I have never used any protection other than to try to remain in control of my emotions and thoughts and keep a positive attitude. If you remain positive, calm, and passive then you will be fine in your travels.

I do not know about moving things between planes. I have heard of people that are suppose to be able to bring things from the astral into the physical, but they will return to their original plane after awhile. I do not know about taking your physical body into the astral. I really would not want to even if I could. Could your physical body even survive on the astral?

Yes it is possible to meet others on the astral that are projecting. It might be a little more complex than just both projecting at the same time, unless maybe both can go to the Real Time Zone at the same location. I have never tried this so I do not know exactly. I do know that there are those that have astral meetings and such so it is possible, but it requires the people to know what they are doing in order to meet.

Years ago, one minute I was sitting in class the next I was standing in this field surrounded by trees. Years later a friend told me what had happened and I started doing research.

Based on a Mayan calendar, Dec. 2012 is suppose to be the end and/or start of an age. Christain armagadon beliefs have taken this to be an end of the World thing when the Mayan's did not see it as such. Maybe an end of the world as we know it, but not the whole end of time thing. It is merely suppose to be a transition, a change. As to what kind of change no one truly knows. What will be, will be. Do not worry about it and just enjoy the ride.

Have you started practicing the NEW method? If you want to work with energy you are going to have to develop your energy system so you can work with it. The NEW system will help develop your energy body to make it stronger. Once your energy body is well developed then you can start seeking out ways to use it.
#1241
Trying doing a search for this. It has been discussed a lot so you should be able to find a lot of posts containing helpful information.

I think that energy work is important but not necessary for having OBEs. I find myself having OBEs when I was originally only planning meditation and energy work. Many times when I am just working with energy and my chakras I will find that I will get the exit vibrations and start to leave my body or come close to being able to.
#1243
I have been looking for some good books too, so thank you all for the suggestions. There are so many books out there I am not sure what is good and what is not.

I do have a suggestion, The Truth About Chakras by Anodea Judith. It is a really small book, but I think it makes a great pocket guide. It gives you the basic details about each chakra but it is very informative, plus it has a table for quick reference. It should not cost you any more than a few dollars. I think I picked it up for $1 or $2.

Meditation itself is really simple. You just relax your body and clear your mind. What you do while meditating is entirely up to you. You may wish to just stay in this cleared state for awhile, do energy work, go into a trance, try to project, reflect on yourself and/or something that is bothering you, anything. What is it that you are wanting to do?

It is ok. We don't want our mods getting bored. hehe

They are basicly the same thing. The online tutorial is more detailed I believe. If you are totally new to energy work then the one online might be better for you. Also if your main interest for now is energy development, and not just projecting, then go for the online tutorial. The methods are the same, though.
#1246
As to what happened all depends on what you think dreams are. If you think dreams are only in your mind, then it sounds like you had a lucid dream. If you think that dreams take place on the astral, then I would say you became lucid in your dream, that you were dreaming, but yes were projecting at the same time. I do not think you were in the Real Time Zone but most likely on the Astral. I am no expert on dreams and moving out of them though.
#1247
I will admit that at one time I had the same idea that you have. But now I no longer think that it is like that. I see it like the physical plane is like our larva stage where we are born. When we mature enough we move off into other stages of our development. You can have sex beyond the physical, but it is different than physical sex. It is more like an exchange of energy and emotions.
#1248
Umm I don't know. It really does not say anything about his theory, atleast not that I got out of it. Either it is too vague (there are no instants in time??) or it is just too complex. It just does not give any details, which would really help a reader get an idea as to whether this has any merit or not.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Astral sex?
August 06, 2003, 12:36:58
You know, travelinbob, guys might have a bad rap for the unemotional just straight sex but I think this is unfair. From my experience and chats, women seem much less interested in exploring the depths of emotions and spirituality with sex than men. (Maybe we are just too good at what we do that we leave our women not wanting a change. [;)])

Maybe her husband does not want anyone to see her because he knows that her family is uncaring and upset her. Maybe her family are the ones that only want her money. Maybe her hubby asked her if he could see other people and if she wants to die and she said yes. NOTE that there is one piece of information that is clearly missing from this, Terri's wishes. If she is so responsive why has no one asked what she wants. Or have they?
