There are subconscious dreams which occur just before the separation from the body. They can seem almost as real as physical experiences. With astral projection itself it is hard to tell. You could end up in the same room, in another room, or in a completely different area from your house.

Rapid heartbeats are sometimes associated with the separation in astral projection.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Eyes

The only experiences that I've achieved are with the eyes closed, although I've never attempted it with them open. A good reason for it not to work is that an amount of awareness is lost to the outer senses with the eyes closed, allowing attention to transfer to the astral body as the physical one falls asleep. With the eyes open, the attention will still be directed to the physical world; and, if not impossible, astral projection might be more difficult. Although, I know someone who claims to have achieved a conscious separation with them open.

I recall having a at least one or two spontaneous experiences when I was a child. I think that some people have the experiences because they are interested in psyhic phenomena. I personally used to be interested in "magic" when I was a child, or generally things that were different from everyday existence.

I don't know how to bring about such an experience, but I know how to bring about the separation through the use of 'techniques'.

In the past I have been exposed to that same ideal, to the belief and concept of "questioning". One fundamental error in that concept is that it has originated from another being. It is a swallowed personal value.

It is undoubtedly inevitable and absolutely veritable that we are bound to the concepts of our fellow men (even those who find themselves innerly free).

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doeth, these the Son also doeth in like manner."--VM Yeshua

We can do nothing of ourselves, but only that which we take in from the world around us. Just as the father teaches the son, so to does the world teach us.

Another error in such a concept is that it is too unspecific. People want to know how to question, but how shall they go about questioning; what is there to question? We must always be specific.

Another error we do not want to incur is the timeless error of the blind and willfully disabled follower. It is neccessary to be more mild, so people can gain there own knowledge through experience and support themselves. Many fanatical cults and skeptical sciences have been founded upon extreme values expressed enthusiastically and eccentrically.

The above mentioned statement has been expressed based on the impractical nature of that specific concept which was mentioned. We must be more specific...

A good part I find in that post, that of value, is the suggestion of a dream journal and daily meditation. I used to use them, and they helped much in remembering dreams. To add my part to the suggestion, I posted a mantras for astral projection within the forum:

It sounds to me like your bodies (astral and physical) are misaligned. What might help is to ask your being to realign them. Just a suggestion...

Scroll down until you see FA-RA-ON. The mantra has helped me several times with successfully achieving astral projection (falling asleep consciously).

paker,

In my experience, when you're lucid dreaming you are already in the astral. I used to fall asleep remaining conscious sometimes as I was a child, of course, at the time I didn't know I was asleep and in another dimension.

I've never experienced it myself, but the rapid beating of the heart has been experienced by other people before astral projection. Also, in my experience, the muscles do not have to be relaxed by will, because they relax naturally when we remain still to go to sleep.

A mantra that might help in achieving astral projection is TAE RE RE RE RE:

The key is saying the above phrases over and over again while going to sleep.

Pronuncation:

TAE (as in my heartbeat); This phrase is spoken prolonged.
RE (as in rem); the R in this phrase is a Spanish R.

RE RE RE RE RE is spoken in succession after TAAAAAEEEE

1. Sit or lay in a comfortable position in preparation for sleep. Do not move once in this position, as astral projection may then after be unsuccessful because the physical body is disturbed.

2. The mantra is said mentally. Inhale slowly. While exhaling mentally say the phrase TAAAAAEEE.

3. Before inhaling, after TAAAAAEEE, say RE RE RE RE RE

4. Again inhale, and repeat TAAAAAEEE RE RE RE RE RE, while exhaling.

Inhale...
(exhale) TAAAAAEEE RE RE RE RE RE RE
Inhale...
(exhale) TAAAAAEEE RE RE RE RE RE
Inhale...
(exhale) TAAAAAEEE RE RE RE RE RE
Inhale...
(exhale) TAAAAAEEE RE RE RE RE RE RE

The amount of REs said after do not usually matter. In the past I have said them between four to seven times.

The key is saying the mantra for what feels between an hour or two before stopping to go to sleep.

If you want a sound file of the mantra, to know how it sounds, then send me a personal message.

In my experience the cacophonous sounds are actual noises from the astral plane (the activation of chakras). The other noises: music, voices, etc. are hallucinatory fabrications of the subconscious (which has its residence in the astral plane)--because there is an actual embodiment of subconscious (the cause of all dreams, daydreams and extraneous thoughts).

Also, the subconscious does not only have mental influence, but it has physical influence as well, whereas it is commonly only associated with the mind.

The above mentioned statements are based upon my personal observations and experiences. For someone else to discover this I'll give an obscure method, because there is not yet a precise procedure to discover the subconscious (only to discover the manifestation of subconscious elements within the physical body (thoughts and bodily reactions)).

For years I studied subconscious invasion and manifestation within my own body, knowing that certain microscopic actions and thoughts that were provoked were involuntary (they were not caused by me). The actual realization of the subconscious came from the increasing of consciousness (essences of the spirit) and retaining consciousness through the process of sleep.

The key is to observe the anatomical reactions that occur within the physical body: to 'feel' the barely (subtle) scopic reactions of fizzing muscles, to learn to 'feel' the subtle mental tension that is caused by the impression of a single thought, to pay attention to the movement of bodily fluids and the subtle sensations that are caused in the digestive track, etc..
(the sense of 'inner touch' is used to study involuntary reactions within the body)

I typically find that the sensations are at the most extreme when the physical body is unrelaxed. Sometimes there are spontaneous astral projection experiences, in which the body is unrelaxed (not completely prepared for sleep). Of course, the body relaxes naturally through sleep. The key is to learn to stay awake as the body goes to sleep. A mantra (a phrase that is said repeatedly) can help to do that.

Mantra FA-RA-ON

Mantra - A phrase that is ordinarily spoken prolonged to produce specific effects.

Pronunciation:

FA (as in far)

RA (as in far); the R is trilled

ON (as in stone)

1. Sit or lay down in a comfortable position to prepare for sleep.

2. Inhale. Upon exhaling [mentally] chant the phrase FA, prolonging it: FAAAAAAA

3. Again inhale. Upon exhaling [mentally] chant the phrase RRRAAAAA

4. Once more inhale. Upon exhaling [mentally] chant the phrase OOOOOONNNN

5. Say the mantra on and on continuously, for what feels like about an hour or two. The application of the mantra improves with practice. It also has the effect of stimulation lucid experiences in the night.

FAAAAAAA...
RRRRAAAAAA...
OOOOOONNNN...

FAAAAAAA...
RRRRAAAAAA...
OOOOOONNNN...

FAAAAAAA...
RRRRAAAAAA...
OOOOOONNNN...

Note: Astral projection can be learned quickly with the application of mantras, though they have to be said generally for a good interval of time. In truth, the only true way to learn  to astral projection is by astral projecting every day.

Do you use a method to astral project? It can be easier to sustain consciousness while falling asleep when the attention is directed somewhere. Spontaneous astral projection experiences can occassionally occur, but real astral projection (doing it all the time) can require mental attention. Some people visualize objects or places, some say phrases over and over again in their minds (mantras, I posted one in another topic), some tune in to astral or bodily stimili (heartbeat, etc.), and so on..

In my experience, the "hum" is not an hallucination, but it is the sound of the active chakras of the astral body. This might happen whenever someone has been using a mantra in which stimulates the chakras of the astral body, though occasionally the chakras seem to be mildly active in some people without a known cause.

I previously posted a mantra called FARAON, which has the affect of stimulating a certain chakra of the astral body and 'stilling' the mind so that sleep--astral projection--can be approached consciously. The mantric method of astral projection, itself, is fairly simply; the discipline that is required is the continuous chanting of a single phrase.

The muscles relax naturally in the process of sleep. So, there is no need to intentionally attempt to relax them. I know people who have been relaxing their muscles for years and still can not astral project (fall asleep consciously) every night.

A mantra might help to get past the subconscious creations. What are seen in the transition phase of astral projection as images and sounds are the actual dream occurrences that take place in the astral plane--the reason why most people have vague or semi-real astral experiences. The astral can appear far more substantial with the removal of dreams.

With a mantra it is possible to fall asleep consciously. An estimate of how long it might take to do a mantra is around an hour. Also, mantras can have the effect of causing lucid dreams.

Mantra FARAON

Pronunciation:

FA (as in Far)

RA (as in Far); the R is trilled like a motor.

ON (as in Stone)

Each phrase of the mantra is said prolonged:

1. First, lay in a comfortable position, or sit in a comfortable posture or chair.

2. Inhale slowly and deeply. Then, slowly exhale saying FAAAAAAA

3. Inhale again, and again slowly exhale saying RRRAAAAAAA

4. Once more inhale, saying OOOOONNN upon exhalation.

5. The mantra is said on and on repeatedly.

I used to say a mantra for as long as I could just before going to bed. It had great results as far as maintaining my attention as I fell asleep.

Well, the case is that everyone has an Astral body. Not everyone has a Causal body of course. And, of course, lucid dreams and regular ones occur in the astral plane.

I recall an experience that I had as a child. Laying down in bed I decided to instantly fall asleep. Immediately I felt the throbbing vibrations that come when in the transition of astral projection. Paralysis occurred with this sensation (I tried to scream but couldn't). The sensation passed. I again decided to fall asleep instantly. The same thing happened.

What I didn't understand then was that all I had to do to get in to the astral was to get up.

I recall another experience of unexpectedly falling asleep and being grabbed by a hairy green entity while in the bed.

Of course, for someone to understand that they leave the body as sleep occurs, they have to experience the whole process of falling asleep consciously.

Something that will help with maintaining attention while falling asleep is to chant a mantra just before going to bed. One famous mantra that will aid in this purpose is called FARAON.

Heat sensations can occur before astral projection. Does the heat intensity come from the area of the back? Pulsing feelings, or vibrations, are also common. They occur in the transition phase of astral projection.

Between the transition phase of astral projection paralysis is common. So, there might be difficulty with moving parts of the body; and sometimes the astral counterparts of body parts will move on their own. E.g. the legs will bob up and down, the arms will move, the head might be in a different position, etc..

Relaxation of the brain and muscles is not very important. In any case, they relax naturally in the process of sleep. The key is to fall asleep consciously.
