just thought of a smashing question! has anybody ever asked their guide a really important question? eg. does god exist? why are we here? or who invented alcohol?

Seriously though has anyone asked anything and if you dont mind sharing what was the answer?

maybe its worth asking what the best way to project is? you never know they may give you such an easy answer you will kick yourself!

Just thought of a really interesting question, apologies if its been raised before in times pl (pre lysear)

Whats the first thing you will do when you have a concious projection? or if you've done it whats the first thing you did?

I am just going to open a topic about what people think is the best length of time to be relaxing, clearing mind etc before you get into trance or hypnogogic state?

I only ask because i normally give it 30 mins then give up!

 Any ideas?

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / relaxation
October 24, 2002, 13:43:58
I think the importance of a good relaxation technique cannot be stressed enough here and i am gonna make a wild statement and say that most people who try to project dont even get into the hypnogogic stage and get frustrated and give up too easily (me included!!)
Just getting to this stage is a toughie in itself! so i am gonna give a link to a site written by a fellow suffolk born englander which really tells you how to stretch every muscle group among other things!!

if you dont agreee with me then please say because I would love to hear other peoples opinions on this.

anyway thats my 10 quids worth if you read this robert bruce and all the other guys who run this forum thank you so much it has improved my life more than words can say.

    cheers guys, Lysear

is anyone like me? i find that the hardest part is relaxing to such an extent that your effectively in trance! anybody know any really good techniques that work for them relativly quickly?

I have only ever been in trance once, the first time I tried. Then I left it partly through fear and partly due to reading about taking it 1 step at a time.

I believe that if i ever get back to that state i will be able to project but its the frustration of it taking so bloomin long!

anyone else care to comment?

#131
how about that rope technique! if anything it relaxes me far quicker than any other method i've ever tried.

If only I had the patience to keep it in my mind constantly for 10 minutes or so i would be getting somewhere, perhaps my meditation techniques will help me there.

anyone else had any success with the rope technique? any tips

Just a quick question for everyone. How suucessful have you been in projection through lucid dreaming. I have recently been close many times to getiing out but I am stopped by fear. last night however I realised i was dreaming and began floating up but when i was buzzing furiously again i got to a point where i couldnt go any further. Anyone else have this prob or sollution or anything to say about it?

hi there, anyone know any good techniques to slow your breathing rate down ready for trance? i would really appreciate help here because there are times when i feel i am dropping into trance but then have to take a breath and it ruins my concentration.  thankyou in advance, Lysear.

I rally need some advice. I had what I thought was a projection the other night but when I woke up i thought it was a dream. Any advice? When I re-entered the body in my "dream" I felt very hot if thats any help. Thankyou for reading

hi I wrote a few weeks back about my heavily buzzing head and stuff, well something equally important has happened to me! i will start at the begining (as is the best way!)
I was dreaming and obviously my mantra is paying off about wanting to have a projection because In my dream I woke up and i felt what i could only describe as my astral body returning, I then decided to try and get back out again and try it. i then came out of my body and was facing the wrong way, my astral head was at my feet and i was face down. I then swung my legs round and came off my bed and wandered into the living room and tried to do a simple lesser banishing of the pentagrams ritual (i am a novice magician). I couldnt do it or more precisely I couldnt move my right arm properly. Next i decided to go back into my body because I remember reading some advice not to stay out too long on the first attempt! I thought to my self to get back in and i did. I was expecting slight pain but instead got a feeling of being very hot and again the buzzing.

I have had the day to think and have since decided it was a dream. What I wish to ask is does anyone think this was a kind of semi-unconcious projection? if anyone has had a similar experience I would love to hear it!

Sorry this is so long winded! i just needed to get it all out!
  Thanks for reading    from Lysear

I have recently been using a technique by Sylvan muldoon where I keep reading about astral projection and then before I go to bed I play out a scenario in my mind over and over till I go to sleep. Last night a strange thing occured, I realised i was dreaming and then started to try and induce a projection, this happened and my head started buzzing really strongly. Unfortunatley I stopped this as i was a bit scared. I was wondering if anybody else has had similar experiences and if they could tell me whats going on, and If mr Bruce is reading this, even better as I would really appreciate some advice as it is the second time this has happened. Thankyou for your help,  From Lysear

The problem with my accessing astral pulse in the states will not be one of a technical nature, rather a spiritual one. I am not sure if Occult or new age practice is accepted where I am going, I will test the waters when I arrive and then see how things go.

Welcome to Magic! / interesting divisions

I aggree with Adrian, it is quite interesting that a lot of Wicca was derived from the Crowley/Gardner collaboration. But one more thing needs to be highlighted. Witchcraft in general is a whole different kettle of fish from Wicca. When people think of witchcraft these days, they more often than not, immediately think of Wicca. This is a bit misleading, as witchcraft was practised for centuries before hand, so obviously not all witchcraft is derived from 19th century hermetics.

thankyou,I will try and find some protection rituals involving the heptagram, or construct one of my own. Perhaps I will just use the Hexagram rituals but change the sigils to heptagrams.

Is it a sick little hobby of ceremonial magicians?
Playing this game of one-up-man-ship?
Is this an OTO tradition, snobbery?
WHAT IS THE NUMBER OF ONEUPMANSHIP?
WHAT IS THE NUMBER OF SNOBBERY

Tisha, I do not wish to argue with you, as I have a lot of respect for yor opinions and your tradition/methods. Although I do not class myself as a ceremonial magician, i use a lot of ceremonial techniques (i used to call myself ceremonial, but i dont really know what I am!) anyway, I speak to a lot of ceremonial magicians who do not show a hint of arrogance, and to generalise like this is bad form
#143
Since I have been using this new technique, I have onl experienced the neg problem once, but that was enough!!  I have never really felt any immediate results from my banishing rituals, but in the long run, I feel more in control, confident and various other feelings too numerous to mention.

I also have tried using it with the banishing ritual of the hexagram (golden dawn style) What is your opinion on this Alchimiste?

Welcome to Magic! / Chaos Magic?
August 13, 2003, 14:49:52
what do you mean apophis. I havent had much experience with chaosmagick, what I have heard though, is that chaos is the energy in everything (or thats what they labeled it.)
#145
I also practise ceremonial magick and over the last couple of days I have been very tired, I just woke up from anap in fact! perhpas its just the heat though, its very hot in England at the moment.
#146
I get what your saying, wards can be very powerful in terms of misdirection etc. The problem with the LBRP is that it tends to light up the astral plane with lines etc and this attracts negs and astral nasties (or so I am led to believe) as highlighted in my experience a few nights back! One protection ritual that works differently is the rose cross, its supposed to contain and curtain your aura, I may try this more often. However, I will not stop using the LBRP as I have used it for over a year pretty much every day and I dont what to stop yet. Lately I have been looking into more pagan methods of magick, witchcraft and druid bits and bobs and this all seems to appeal to me, so I may try to expand my experience into these areas.

thanks for sharing your experiences Tisha.
#147
Tisha, what kind of protection rituals do you use if any? This is the first time that anything like this has happened to me in over a year, I'm still not sure if the dream was related to the alteration of the ritual or not, I will have to do some more experimentation first.
#148
Dont get me wrong, I really appreciate your help. In fact, after trying the LBRP with you new pentagrams (with the line, and from the top) i had a really intense dream or nightmare. There was something outside of my bed, attacking me, I tried all sorts of incatations and got so desperate I even tried some from Harry Potter! When I woke up, energy was coursing through my body, I have never felt anything like it before. In fact I then got up and performed the Kabbalistic cross. Perhaps though, along with your advice, I need to learn these things for myself before I accept them, I have only been practising ceremonial magick for a year and 3 months so I am still a beginner.

P.S I havent read Bardon before, I started studying from D.M Kraig, and have used many variations since then, but pretty much stuck with "Modern Magick." I know this book has its weaknesses but I feel it has been an excelent introduction to ceremonial magick for me.

I disagree with your statment about the death card on a variety of levels. The card can mean Death in a physical sense, or the death of someone you know. It can mean the death of a way of life, and the begining of a new one. And I also believe the death card is bloody scary! whatever way you look at it, change is frightening and more often than not, you are not ready for it when it occurs, and this is a frightening prospect.

I agree with you about it being up to the intent of the user whether pentagrams are banishing or invoking, and what element it is. However, I do not agree when you say that starting at different points for different elements etc is complete rubbish! this helps the magick worker to focus by association, you recognise that a certain method of drawing the pentagram is associated with a specific element and this aids in the process of intent.

Also, I find you calling it complete rubbish very confusing, as it is clearly not. Very experienced and talented ocultists have been using these methods for a very long time, and they worked well for them. I am sure that You can assume that such people experimented with various methods and found the one that was more effective for them.

However, I will definitly try your extra line technique, it sounds very interesting. Thanks for that.
