Hey Grey, congrats on your OBEs and thanks for sharing.  I wonder why you couldn't go past the trees.  Long time ago, when I thought my OBEs were 'realistic' flying dreams which I 'directed', I used to come across barriers which were usually rooms occupied by people.  I have since learnt that humans are able to subconsciously create energy fields that serve as barriers, if they require privacy (know what I mean?). But I never came across barriers outdoors.  Interesting.

Thanks all.  I'll go get Far Journeys.  I was so impatient that I bought The Ultimate Journey on Amazon.

Silver, yes it was a complete surprise to find myself at the entrance of this stunning portal.  It was breath-taking.

not sure exactly what you mean but that's what consciousness schools do. They teach and guide you to leave your body.  Check out IAC (international school of consciousness) proojectarium in Portugal, the only one of its kind on the planet!  http://www.iacworld.org/English/Sciences/Research/Projectarium.aspx

Grey, please could you recommend a book (by Monroe?) about such meeting places?  Or whatever you learned about it from?  Thank you!

Colden and Grey, what wonderful insight!  You said some things I didn't think about before re: the woman as my guide, and a reconfirmation from Robert Monroe's work about the hallway.  Very helpful.  Thank you so much.

Vitru - yes I am still in physical life! One thing I learned from this OBE is that death is not something to be feared. But of course you knew that already!

I was unable to sleep after waking up at 3am, so walked around, did some reading, and back to bed around 4.30am.  I was not planning on projection (been trying for weeks without luck)

My body went to sleep quite quickly, and I caught that crucial moment when the mind falls asleep along with the body. I kept it awake a bit longer and then opened my eyes.  Couldn't see much, so closed and opened them again.  Then I realised they were not my physical eyes!!!  I had opened my astral eyes, but they strangely felt exactly like my physical eyes.  Amazed, I asked myself, where do I go now?  I thought of my guide and I immediately felt presence.

I was overjoyed that I was projected, and at the same time very careful not to wake my body up.  I don't remember what happened in the first few seconds, but I found myself at an entrance of a ornate golden tunnel or bridge.  It was a round tube but not fully solid - it had lots of golden spirals that allow light through, so it didn't look like a typical tunnel. It was beautiful.  Fascinated, I started moving into it, and gradually increased speed.  I then knew that it served the same purpose as any other tunnel, i.e. a portal.  I also saw that it was a long tunnel, just like the ones I've been in before.  I flew in full speed until I came to a big hallway.  Again this hallway was painted in gold and bright colours.  When I got to the other side of the hallway, I decided to go back and look at the paintings on the ceiling.  I couldn't just turn back because there were lots of others behind me - there's a huge traffic in this place - people coming and going through the tunnel (but strangely enough I couldn't see anyone, just felt and knew there were others).  So exactly like an airplane, I turned slowly to the right, upwards and backwards to the ceiling.

The paintings were of different men in traditional English outfits (17/18th century).  There were lots of them.  The paintings seemed like memorials to honour individuals rather than expression of pure art.  There were several doors to other places from the end of that hallway so I didn't know where to go. But I was in one of my curious and playful moods so decided to follow a woman and a child to wherever they were going.  They went to a room where the woman sat her child at a dressing table and started combing the child's hair.  The mum said to her daughter something on the lines of "I told you to keep away from that reception room for the dead (and the living?)".  I smiled, funny name that.  I smiled some more because now I know what that hallway is!  It's where people who passed away pass through.  I wasn't afraid at all, and wondered why.  There was a lot of positive energy, no fear.  Then I came back to my body.

Can anyone relate to this?  Any thoughts?

Very interesting topic guys.  I'm so into this kind of stuff - which means I've read a lot about it and had several discussions with people.

My final analysis is that there is an intelligent "is-ness" that exists outside consciousness.  This is-ness is everything there ever was and is, but needs to experience 'life' to know itself.  It creates neutral energy, assumes and splits itself into several consciousnesses (ref: Mobius Ring method in Sacred Geometry).  Consciousnesses create the right environment for this process, i.e. physical life.  The result being life through reincarnation in the many universes, galaxies and solar systems as we know it today.  Our planet is one of many, our physical form (humaniod) is one of many (there are also non-physical worlds - mental or emotional).

(So my friend, you have nothing to worry about.  If our planet dies, our consciousnesses can continue their evolution on another planet!)

My conclusion is that there is so much more to is-ness/consciousness/energy/creation that we as a human race, can grasp at this time.  But asking, reading, discussing, and learning is certainly the right way about it to help us 'know' ourselves, and go back to where we came from - the is-ness.

Hi both, I had the same experience a couple of times some time ago and talked about it on this forum.  Quite a few people have posted similar threads as well.  I was just glad to know that it was 'normal', but still frustrated that it prevented me from projecting.

Someone commented that the pounding happens when it's a 'heart chakra projection'.  So maybe you might want to activate other chakras and consciously intend to project from other chakras.  Just a thought.

Good luck.

Interesting Grey.  We learn new things everyday, eh?  Thanks for sharing.
#135
It would appear so, Stooky.  I just wanted to encourage people to continue exercising because sometimes when projection does not happen it could be quite discouraging to keep on exercising.  I myself have had moments of doubt when I have not been able to project.

So there you go.

I am gradually finding new uses to AP.

A couple of days ago I was walking in Milan with a backpack and luggage, trying to find a taxi.

I still cannot explain how I saw (in my mind's eye) a pair of slim hands behind my back, and something/someone telling me I am going to be surprised (more in a nice way, though).

I turned to find the hands still up in the air.  The young girl didn't know what to do with them as I turned so swiftly to catch her opening my backpack.  For a brief moment, we stared at each other.  She was obviously quite surprised as well, as she had been so quiet, tiptoeing behind me, for the last few seconds or minutes.  I noticed she had an accomplice so did not do anything more than gasp in shock, check if she has any of my items in her hands (she had none), zip my bag and hold it in front of me, and walk away quickly to a taxi rank.  It was a close shave, and I have been spared a lot of distress - I obviously had help from beyond, but I am sure that my daily exercises have opened me to receive emergency messages like this one.

Keep on doing your energy exercises everyone!  You never know when it would come in handy.

Thanks Stookie.

Ok, this happened a few weeks ago but since I haven't found a solution for it and I'm still thinking about it I might as well post it here.

While sleeping one night I sensed my neighbour's black cat hiding behind my living room's curtains.  The feeling was so real that I thought it was real, until I woke up.  I didn't bother to get up and check if the cat was behind my curtain, because I knew there's no way it could get into my place.

I then went to my neighbour's for a chat later that day, and she casually said to me "sorry about my cat, she was in your balcony and messed with your plants".  And I was like "huh?".  I said to her that the cat was in my dream last night, but she said this happened during the day when I was at work.

So I'm thinking it could be clairvoyance.  But how would you explain the time gap?  Or maybe I don't know how clairvoyance works. hmmm...

what do you think?

To me, a lot of the power to do it is within the mind. If your skeptic and believe you cant do it, I dont think you will be able to.

KaOs, exactly what I wanted to say.  As with everything in life, if you are sending the energy to the universe, that you can't do it, that's what you get. That's how skeptics get into catch 22.  On the other hand, if you are truly open to it (i.e. not half heartedly open and not pretending to be open), then there's no limit to what you can achieve.  A magical place, we live in, eh?

Hey Angie

I would say option 2.  Everyone is able to do it, but it requires not only willingness and hard work, but also (and most importantly) determination.

It certainly comes naturally to some people, probably because their life purpose has something to do with OBEs or their evolutionary level allows them to easily project.  But we all have the potential, and we can all get there if we really want to.

Cheers

I started off much more like stookie above (hey stookie, I thought you were telling my story! lol).  Basically I'm constantly looking for new challenges and changes in my life so I'm always on a learning path (in other words, I get bored easily).  I went through the New Age stuff pretty quickly, read the books, attended the seminars, did the courses etc etc.  Then I was up for my next challenge.  I had known about AP for a while (approx 3 years), since I was handed a leaflet at an exhibition, after which I attended an open day.  I must say I wasn't all convinced at the open day - guess I wasn't ready for it then!  However, at the beginning of this year, I decided to go further in my personal development as I needed something new, i.e. other than courses on psychic ability, reincarnation, meditation etc, all of which I have already done.  So when I ruled out everything, I was left with AP.  I took the plunge and got booked on the first module at the IAC.  Wow, it blew me away - everything that I've ever wanted to know about, and more.  Now I've done all 4 modules, had two amazing OBEs and some interesting experiences during and after energy exercises.  I'm on a wonderful journey, still have a lot of ground to cover, and I'm very much up for it.

sorry I got carried away, good question, thanks for asking.

hey guys

I have been thinking about this for a few days now.  Do you think one of the purposes of sleep was to serve as a transition to the other dimension?  That is, in addition to resting the body?

Because if we can put our bodies to sleep and instantly become conscious on the other side - every night and every single time, which some people are able to do, then that is our natural portal to the astral, and we were always meant to do this, all of us and not a select few...

what do you think?

Venus :-)

Wonderful.  Thank you both.  Feelings are important.  They are indicators of what is going on with us and around us on an energetic level.  They also tell us whether we are moving towards or away from our main purpose.

I would like to encourage all readers to share their thoughts please.

Best wishes

Hi all

I hope you don't think this is patronising but I would very much like to know how many people are aware of the energy shift in themselves and their environment 24/7.  What makes you 'aware'?  What physical symptoms do you have, if any?  Are you constantly thinking about these changes - in the planet's energies, your immediate environment and your own projections or attempts?

Please let's discuss!

Thanks.

Alan, do not worry at all.  The hypnagogic state  is a bit of a grey area; i.e. neither scientists nor OBE'ers know if anything is for real or not.  I personally think it's a combination of astral and hallucinations.  Dr Waldo Vieira's book Projectiology defines it as (Greek: hipnos, sleep; and agogos, conductor) - "the transitional twilight condition of the consciousness that characterises the somnolent interval between the ordinary, physical waking state and the state of natural seep; the altered state of consciousness introductory to natural sleep, characterised by oneiric images, hallucinatory visions and representations with visual and auditory effects, due to exacerbation of the imagination".  He also goes on to say that the hypnagogic state is an ideal opportunity to project.

I used to have loads of them when I was younger - like someone or something heavy pressing my chest.  My teachers at IAC recently told me that it's when your body falls asleep before your consciousness leaves it - because as you know we leave our bodies every time we sleep, most of the time just hovering above it unconsciously (and for the lucky ones like yourself consciously astralling around the universe!).  I recently had an unpleasant hypnagogic experience and posted it on this forum which you might be interested to read http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_experiences/trapped_inside_my_body_by_an_astral_being-t27653.0.html;msg228752#msg228752

The way I comfort myself is that I should not expect this journey (of enlightenment) to be smooth sailing.  There will be unpleasantness and obstacles in the way but through determination I will get to a stage when I will happily project every night!

ok, I got it. It's all in good fun.   :-D

Wow you really are very clairvoyant rocky.  My experience was certainly not in the physical because I somehow knew that they were "flying" before stopping on my balcony.  I live on the top floor of an apartment building so there is no access for the public - unless they dropped off from the roof which was my initial thinking.  :-o

I was fast asleep last night after some energy exercises.  Then I saw 3 men in dark coats arriving on my balcony while I was still sleeping in my bedroom!  I knew it was not a dream because I was conscious and actually thought they were real 'physical' people.  So I was scared that they may be here to attack or rob me so I wanted to call the police.   I then realised that I couldn't move - I was having a sleep paralysis.  At that moment it struck me that I was in my body and the only way I could have seen the men was because they were non-physical, and I was remote-viewing them.  Somehow I knew that they had just stopped on my balcony in the middle of a flight.  They were not interested in me at all.  So I went back to sleep.

Interesting experience, but I wish I had gotten out of my body!
