Alright, my newest attempt... I woke up early like normal, but this time, in doing my usual thing, I fell asleep again... the result? I thought I was still awake (false awakening) and wondered why I couldn't move (I also wondered why when the "vibrations" started, I couldn't rise up and out...) I in the end started to panic, when I finally woke up for real! :D

At this point, I am considering learning how to LD as well. ;)

Very interesting experiences sir! Seriously, well done on getting past those awful episodes! I haven't had any, but there have been a couple of mornings where I have almost exited intentionally!

And you know what? I am actually going to give the "I'm conscious" affirmation a go, along with what I am doing passively every attempt I make. (It's not hard actually; I simply shift my focus upwards slightly, and while holding it there, I then listen for the ringing, all the while, I actively fall asleep)

Ok, I was able to wake up a bit earlier this morning, and try again; I GOT SO CLOSE!!! I was simply lying there (I did have to change position beforehand though, as I woke up lying on my stomach... :D) listening to the natural static in my ears, when after what felt like 10 mins, I heard the strangest noise and felt the vibrations start! After a while though, they faded away and I woke up normally.

Likewise, I am making progress! :) Hopefully, one day, I can achieve a full-blown projection... ;)

EDIT: Forgot to add too; after the vibrations faded away, I simply went back to sleep, and had a couple of false awakenings of playing my N64 at 5:30 in the morning... :D (I also had a couple of weirder ones, but more on that later!)

Hello people! :) I haven't long joined this forum, however, I have been trying to leave my body since the beginning of this year. As a result, I have had some weird experiences I wanted to share and get opinions on. Before I tell my tales though, I will point out one thing; none of these seemed to end with a successful projection. Now, onto my experiences. Hopefully, you guys can point me in the right direction:

My first attempt seemed to be by accident, due to the fact that I had awoken in the middle of the night. At the time, I simply wanted to just go back to sleep, so I did. Well, I thought I did. I first had a weird dream, then I heard a HUGE breeze in my ears (There was also some random shouting "FREEDOM!!!!" in the background, the breeze itself sounded sort of like the sound you hear when you yawn... :D) Then I woke up normally, wondering 'what the heck was that all about?!' I then made another attempt to fall asleep. This time, I was just going about my buisness in the dream world (It was of my school) when things started going a bit weird. Then something popped into my head from an article i read once: "what if I could turn this lucid?" With that in mind, I ran as fast as I could and jumped... and immediately took flight like a bird. I then landed on the roof, and willed myself to see my bedroom, of which resulted in me being able to see around my bedroom, but unlike what it was in real life, it was all dark, and the edges of my vision were blurred. After a while of seeing weird things in this state, I woke up normally, and thought "Nah, not successful..." and finally got to sleep properly.

The attempts that followed ranged from binaural beats to all the techniques I could try out (My favourite's the rushing tunnel) and had no success. And then, one early morning before I was ready to get up for school, I decided to try and lapse into the "mind-awake, body-asleep" state. It seemed to work... I sort of felt something click in my head, and I tried the rushing tunnel technique again, and got the "wind in my ears" sound and a feeling like extreme shivering! But when they stopped, I thought the projection was successful, but upon directing my focus to an old friend far away, I found myself in the weirdest place that looked nothing like where they lived, and after returning home, everything was out of place. Then I woke up, realising that had to be a false awakening of some kind... :/

Then a few days ago, I signed up to this forum upon coming across this thread: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/how_i_got_out_for_the_first_time-t30942.0.html
And realised that perhaps my way of doing this wasn't quite right. So a night later, I gave another attempt at projection... and fell asleep... (DOH!) But then I woke up early again the next morning, and decided to try out the technique again while I was lying still. To my surprise, ONE EAR closed up after a minute of listening to the faint whine in my ears and started ringing like crazy! But then I had to go to the toilet, and likewise, I stuffed the opportunity again, and since then, I haven't found a good time to make the attempt again.

So, after having the experiences I have had, I wanted some advice on which direction I should take next. atm, I really feel close to successfully projecting, but I still think I am missing (or stuffing up) something crucial!

Thank you so much for this! I knew something wasn't right with what I was doing. Will combine this with personalreality's method and see how it goes... :D

@Xanth: Fair enough then, you're probably right. :D Speaking of which, I plan to attempt again soon. Wish me luck! :)

@IsayWhat: Actually, I can tell you firsthand that a clock doesn't work in a dream; One time when i had a false awakening, I went out to the kitchen to check the time, but the numbers on the oven were gone! :D So yes, a pocket watch, especially a digital one, will work as a reality check. Of course, if your oven has a clock on it... That works too. :)

@Szaxx: Not sure how that would work, but fair enough... it was more for energy exercises. :)
@IsayWhat: "Fuel? What fuel?  huh Mah, nevermind.

About false awakening. It's not easy to just try and push finger through your palm, I mean, if I believe in dream I'm not dreaming then obviously I won't be able to push the finger through my palm even if I'm dreaming. (I hope this sentence makes sense)

I was thinking a watch maybe? Like pocket watch or something that I can look at for around 20-30 seconds and if nothing happens I'm awake, if it does I'm not. I never tried it, but I read that it's really hard to see numbers when dreaming, even if you focus hard and try to see them? Is it true?"
Well, the reading whatch thing works because the brain's reading/writing parts shut down when you're asleep, likewise, you can't read stuff in a dream... :D
@Xanth: What I meant was something personalreality said; he was mentioning a car's fuel tank as an analogy to using energy exercises to boost the amount of time one can be out for. Just head to pages 5-6 and read them, this is where I got my info from, and yea, it probably is just focus, I just like to call it "fuel" as that's how PR explained it. ;)

Ok, once I am home, I will try again! :) (And that's in about 1 1/2 hours! :D)

As for why I am posting anyway, been considering an energy crystal like some others have been using to help them project longer. Didn't even think such an object could help amplify your natural energies. Also had no idea AP/OBE had a 'fuel tank' like how personalreality described it... :D

Now obviously, a dedicated gemstone is probably going to be better, but if you simply came across a particularly unusual rock and it had the right qualities, would that do the job as well? Would rather "find" my special rock than have to purchase one, that's all. ;)

Ok, here's what's happened to me so far doing this one:

Basically, I attempted it last night, but was too tired and fell asleep (Wrong timing... :D)

But then I woke up fairly early this morning, and thought while lying there that this was a perfect time to try again. I did... and after a couple of minutes, ONE EAR closed up and started whining, so I was close!

But then I had to go to the damn toilet, and after that, I was too awake to be able to get back to what I was doing, so... At least I made progress! :)
#135
Welp, when I finally head out for the first time, I shall tell my experience here. (Could be VERY SOON, or a year away! ;)) And that way, I would be able to help you a bit more. Good luck! :)

Hopefully I can get out soon as well... :D
#136
@BranStark: Well, I did read that happens sometimes! :) Must be annoying when you think you just hit a gold mine of an opportunity for something then you wake up... :D
#137
I haven't been round these parts for very long either (Heck, I can't even project yet! :D) But just as I was scrolling through posts, I found this thread...

...and thought of another one I had read a couple of days ago: It was a beginner explaining how he got out. It's actually quite good, and he mentions Frank in there. (Yet to try his technique though, haven't gotten much time to myself lately...)

Anyway, once I go fully astral (Probably a month away, but no one ever knows really until they do it for the first time!) I was thinking of going and finding him if possible. As for physical records, has anyone bothered checking other places, such as Australia (Highly unlikely, but who knows!) Africa, Japan, etc. to name a few?

On that note, I am thinking of searching Australia's records right now... ;)

Can't say I have experienced this, but what you're describing sounds similar to a near-death experience, IMO... :D
#139
There's a huge thread over here that might help you: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/how_i_got_out_for_the_first_time-t30942.0.html

Not sure how long it's been going on for, but I am trying this method soon! :) (Or, as stated, "not a method" ;))
#140
That sounds REAL close to projection! :) I actually wish I were you right now... :D
#141
For reality checks, I read somewhere you can try forcing your finger through your palm... ;) Doing that in the real world wouldn't work, but doing it in a dream with enough effort proves to be effective in deciding whether you're in a dream or not! :)

I actually can feel if I am in a dream, and there was one time where I tried to slap myself awake from a false awakening, but my body's energy must have shot up because before my hand connected with my face, I woke up for real... :D

As for how I did this technique, I haven't been able to do it properly yet. (Fell dead asleep last night, and this morning I didn't have much time to do anything!) When I do get an opportunity, will report back! :)
#142
Thanks for all these good tips! Will try when I get home. (Or, like others have said here, "Not try!" ;))

I have gotten close to it before, but more often than not, I end up falling asleep and having a false awakening instead! (The times I tried were all early morning, and annoyingly, all of my false awakenings are of me trying to project out... :D)

Again, will see if I get good results with this.

I reckon this quote describes your method well:
"Do or do not, there is no try..."
