Welcome to Dreams! / Flying in a Lucid dream
August 22, 2004, 11:50:13
congrats seraphis [:D]
I too had a really cool lucid dream today, i wont go in too much detail on here but at one point in the rather long dream i was jumping from building to building as is done on the matrix. From one of these jumps i started to fly, it was night time and the streets and a harbour where lit up by many street lights. I can honestly say it took my breath away at how real everything looked, i could see people walking below under the street lights going about there business. Also no matter how high i would go the clarity and realism stayed perfect.

I havn't practiced for lucid dreaming in along time but this has re-kickstarted my need for more [:)]

What an amazing experience, just wanted to thank you for sharing it. Ive never had a dream as potentially life changing as yours but i do know the vividness and clarity that we can experience in dreams. Ive had many lucid dreams where i was literally stunned by the beauty of the scenery around me, the type of scene where for a second you just dont believe your mind could create something that real or amazing.
Ive never been the type of person to get stressed about things, to worry about things that i have no control over, to easily anger or hold grudges or to take the things around me for granted etc, and dreams like these only go to strengthen those personality traits for me.
Thank you

Welcome to Dreams! / Lucid Dreams

Hey Sinestro,
I believe you have every right to doubt and every right to start a discussion on that doubt, but your approach is completely wrong. Aggressiveness doesnt get you anywhere on these boards (apart from probebly banned). Id also like to know why your so offended others believe that your willing to verbally attack them. Its the same state of mind that causes most wars.. sad really.

As a person who's had many lucid dreams i can tell you that, at least to me, lucid dreams are very real. The lucidity institute has also gone a long way in lucid dream research and you might want to take a look there for info. As alot of people get told on these forums, if you want proof the best proof you can get is to actually experience it for yourself. Lucid dreams arnt that hard to accomplish.

Welcome to Dreams! / the sky
July 08, 2004, 13:44:11
Sounds like an old manga film i once watched. In it theres a big sphere shaped building floating in the sky and 2 people spend there days looking up at it wanting to get there (cant remember much more than that about it).

I try not to analyze dreams too much so i cant really help you on the meaning, but it sounds like a cool dream to have anyway [:)]. dreams of objects in the sky have always interested me.

RooJ

p.s. dont know if your interested but I have alot of dreams about the sky aswell, thought id share one:
================
Theres one re-occuring dream ive had where im in the middle of a huge field and i hear a noise, a huge rumbling sound. As i look up i see 1 or 2 small aircraft flying above me and as i turn around i notice behind me the sky is filled with hundreds of aircraft all flying in my direction, each type of craft looks to be in its own group and its own formation. All formations together however made up a huge armada of craft. There was lots of strange spaceship style aircraft from small fighter style ones to what looked like giant carriers.
In the middle of this great mass of aircraft there was one that stood out. It had the shape of a USA shuttle but was unbelievably big. It was surrounded by scaffold fixed to its side and its thrusters were mountainus in size.
They all pass over me and head into the distance, and i always get a strong emotion of wanting to follow them.

Welcome to Dreams! / Pain anyone?
July 04, 2004, 17:15:09
I was the same Rastus. Never felt pain.. Ive been shot in the head, i flew into the side of a building at mach 3 and ive had numerous lucid dream fights with multiple people at once (aswell as many other injuries). Thats what shocked me about this pain.
To be honest i never thought id ever feel pain while lucid, i mean as i know im dreaming i know getting shot wont hurt me. Apparently there's still many things beyond my control in my lucid dream world.

Welcome to Dreams! / Pain anyone?
July 04, 2004, 16:28:45
Thanks all for the replies.
Manix when you had the similar experience was it also completely unexpected? I can see how you could feel pain in a dream if your experiencing something such as being shot and expecting pain, just cant see why it would happen completely unexpectedly.

Welcome to Dreams! / Flying in a Lucid dream
June 18, 2004, 06:32:59
hey all.. I had a great flying experience today.

I was dreaming that i was walking in my street, after a few seconds i realised and the world suddenly sharpened as it does when you become aware in a dream.. i could see clearly the brick work on my neibours house etc.. Instead of jumping and willing myself to fly, which usually just frustrates me, i just began running towards the house and with complete belief i said "i can fly" and took off in superman pose..
At first i began drifting up almost uncontrollably.. but i wanted to fly properly and began to imagine propellant coming out from behind me (took the form of blue jet streams spiralling out from behind me).. i suddenly began to get faster and higher.. i was half expecting white space when i got higher than the houses but there was non.. just houses tree's, roads etc as far as the eye could see.. i then really did pickup speed and height.. the land was just flying by below me.. id estimate well over the speed of sound.. i decided i wanted a low fly-by of houses so began dropping in altitude but i got too low and bang.. hit a house and woke [:D].

The moral of the dream, dont spend your dreams TRYING to fly.. just know you can and do it (dont even think about it). [:)]

Welcome to Dreams! / Help on Lucid dream.
May 30, 2004, 10:07:11
Hey, Congrats on your first lucid dream. [:)]
Ive had the same thing happen to me in the past, sometimes your just not as lucid as other times. I find that commenting every now and then while in a LD helps you to remember when you wake. For instance if im having an LD and the clarity is amazing (as it normally is) ill comment, describe to myself how it is and how amazed i am by the whole thing. If your memories not as good thinking back to the dream then you can normally remember what you said while you were in it.
Ive also found the more lucid dreams ive had the clearer they seem to be when i wake.

Welcome to Dreams! / This is CRAZY!!

A runa-way flock of suicidal arsonist turkeys with a hatred of harley riders... [:)]. Seriously cool dream. Im not gonna even try to work out what that one means.

Hey,

bmw
Interesting thoughts, it hadnt occured to me that this could be a possibility. When id actually woke up my family where downstairs but they wern't in the kitchen.. and it did feel weird actually telling my mom about the dream after all of that [:)]. Im really not sure about your theory as it felt alot like a dream to me and i havnt had alot of experience with astral projection. But its definitely an interesting thought anyway, cheers.

Wisp
Thanks for the input.. and sorry to hear about your waning dream recall, do you have any idea of the reason for it?. Hmm.. To be honest i try not to figure out what my dreams mean most of the time. I dont like those books that try to tell you what your dreams are about, such as one i read that said if your teeth fall out in a dream your gonna lose a member of your family or someone will become ill etc. I suppose I try not to over analyse and just enjoy them. [:)]

Welcome to Dreams! / Reality Checks
May 05, 2004, 08:54:36
Isnt the idea to actually question whether your dreaming or not. If you say over and over "I am dreaming" like a drone while awake, you'll probebly do the same while dreaming but not actually realise your dreaming. I think the idea is to get into the habit of actually questioning reality and checking to make sure.

Welcome to Dreams! / never dreaming :(
April 30, 2004, 07:13:00
Although it can be annoying you can try setting your alarm to wake you maybe an hour and a half before it normally would. Spend about 15 minutes awake and then go back to sleep for the remaining time. It seems to be alot easier to remember your dreams in that situation.
Combine this with writing down the dreams and it may kickstart you into remembering them from normal sleep.
Oh and another technique i used to use to remember my dreams was when i would wake up id just lay there and think to myself, "what did i dream about", dont let the real world flood in just lay there and concentrate on trying to remember.

Hope this helps,

Congrats Draege [:)]. I know exactly how you feel, its the most amazing feeling, I suppose especially the first time.
Im always suprised how real they are, if you take time to focus on things as you did with the blackboard you realise the clarity is just as it is when awake. One of my dreams in particular i remember looking up at an overcast rainy sky in amazingly real detail and as i looked down a paperbag blew past across the road, moved by a car driving past... This might not seem like much but it was completely unexpected and i questioned reality for a few days afterwards lol.
Interesting insight into the closing of eyes in a lucid dream, ive had the same thing happen but i never really linked the 2 things.

And as for the possibilities inside a lucid dream, i spent quite a few lucid dreams doing experiments and things on that (still try to). I think it depends on person but ive found you can do almost anything from changing dream scene to flying, making people dissapear and appear, moving superfast etc. You can also have amazing conversations with dream people even though there in your head. Ive been very suprised in the past at some of the things they have come out with, such as a cloaked guy who spent a good 5 mins of my dream telling me that earth was once a moon of jupiter and somehow, (something to do with saturn), it was dragged away from jupiter and ended up in its current orbit, then ice on the planet melted kick starting life.

There also seems to be a strong link to your body while dreaming that i think could be exploited in some way (maybe healing or something) but im not sure how.

Anyway ive babbled for long enough[:P]

Id have to disagree. I like learning and i think in the world as it is at the moment its important that people go to school. Theres also the whole social aspect of children making friends and learning to get on with other children etc. Its probebly personal preference but i enjoyed learning subjects like science and such.

I know exactly what you mean Kenshi. I sometimes feel like im in a constant battle between what the system and others expect of me and what i want with my life. Its sad but the large majority of people are slaves to money.
I agree its all about happiness, the way the systems set up now means you have to be a slave to money, you have no choice in the matter. The best bet is finding a job which you like, too many people i know are spending 8 or 9 hours of every day (the sunniest parts of the day [:P]) doing the same repetative job which they hate. The most important thing is fighting for a job which you like and are happy doing, if this is traditional chinese medicine or working with computers it doesnt matter, aslong as you dont regret everyday that your doing it [:)].
I also agree with the learning although school is necessary, children these days seem to miss out on childhood starting school earlier and earlier. Sad really.

Dont worry about the amount lol. Astronomers estimate there are about 100 thousand million stars in the Milky Way alone. Theres about 50 - 100 billion other gallaxies in the universe each containing about the same amount of stars (some alot more and some less). If you do the math you'll notice that theres bound to be more up there than you can see [:)]. Not sure about the four bright stars though.
Ohh and with all of those stars, with each having the possibility of planets around it id bet theres more than a few that could resemble earth.

Welcome to Dreams! / Amazing Lucid dream or OBE??
February 18, 2004, 19:00:53
Hey Mustardseed,
Firstly excellent experience [:)], ive had a fair few lucid dreams from sleeping but only one wild and that was just after waking up from a 6 hour sleep.
I have a few questions though if you dont mind answering.

Had you not had any sleep in the previous 4 hours before the wild? as you say:
"and at no point was I ever even close to sleep at all"
Its just i wasnt sure whether you needed to have had some sleep beforehand or not to experience a WILD and everyone talks about interupted sleep etc. So im hoping with your answer i can put this question of mine to rest [:)].

Also i was wondering if you had some technique you used for the other 2 you mentioned and whether these happened the same way.

Thanks for any input on this, i know how amazing and real lucid dreams are when experiencing them from sleep, so i can only guess at how crazy it would feel to, as you said "wake up to become lucid".

Yeah agreed ill leave it out :). ive just read that apparently the opposite of zero is zero.. although i do believe it came from an insane mind:

As i said in the previous post i think it depends on perspective. with a dictionary entry of "Altogether different, as in nature, quality, or significance:" then when viewed from the perspective of binary couldnt 1 and 0 be said to be opposite?
#149
fireprooflighter: The opposites of 1 and 2 are -1 and -2. So they can't be the opposites of zero.

I disagree the opposite of 0 can be 1.

I hate this type of thing because it always makes me rant. ahh well here goes.
My answer:
I think everything can have an opposite, but the catch is many things have more than one opposite.
the rant:
It all depends on the way you look at things and which dictionary example of opposite you use. e.g. in binary the opposite of 0 is 1 and vice versa, in many instances this can also be true such as when 0 and 1 are used to represent off and on in things like light switches.. but the opposite of 1 can also be -1 when looking from the perspective of normal numeracy.

We get taught in school that the opposite of light is dark but if you put it in the perspective of day being light and night being dark then darkness is just an absence of light. can you say that light is the absence of dark? well not really because if you could somehow move darkness it wouldnt reveal light because light is "something" (photons) and darkness is "nothing" or no photons. so is something opposite to nothing? ill use beavis's example:

beavis: The opposite of ZERO (nothing) is not something because "something" includes white and black, which are opposites.

so is light actually opposite to darkness? well according to the dictionary yeah.
one of the dictionary entries:
"opposite: Altogether different, as in nature, quality, or significance: "

lets say we follow the absence trend anyway then the opposite of your right arm would be no right arm and the opposite of north could be any direction aslong as its not north(i think :S).
So we have given a name to the absence of something and then declared that as the opposite. In this case everything will have an opposite. Ok so whats the opposite of gravity? anti-gravity or no gravity?. the answer is both because both meet the requirements in the dictionary lol.
What if scientists find some new energy equivelant to anti-light? (and for the record i want an anti-light torch).

Conclusion:

If light is the opposite of darkness from the perspective of day and night then everything has an opposite :). And many times an opposite heavily depends on the perspective you view it from.

Happy new year all and thanks for the replies.

holy reality, im guessing NREM is non-REM sleep?

Hmm.. what a contradiction lol. So either some people just get to REM sleep easier than others because as i said in my first post ive personaly witnessed people dream after only 10 minutes of sleep. Or people can dream in other states apart from REM sleep.

Im wondering, can people have WILDS during meditation without having slept just before? e.g. has anyone reading this had a busy day then settled into meditation and had a WILD without sleep first?

p.s. sorry if that question is answered on the site u gave Nick but when i tried it the site was dead.
Thanks
