Those who are "positive" ride on the negative like surfers on a wave. You sound depressed. Don't let the "world" bring you down. The world is only a part of the whole experience. There are many of us who combat the negative by being that opposite. Duality lets us play. Play with us. Oil and water. Love and Fear. Don't fear.

I love this.

Specific circles go round and round. I want to accomplish something. Many years have passed through this website. Users have come and gone. People become familiar and communication becomes sacrosanct. What cracks me up is that if the "old fashioned" theosophists had not dared leave their "circle" then much knowledge would have been lost to the masses. To leave the noosphere to newbies leaves anything to chance. Experience dictates wisdom. It cannot be achieved without specific effort. "Only through the fire of acts is heaven brilliant and hell aflame" - just try to ply a young person with that and they will tell you "hell doesn't exist". They miss the whole point. I see a very young crowd here and I find that exciting. Problem is much of the incredible talent here hasn't actually forged their way through this maze sufficiently to espouse what they propose. Book smart is one thing. Getting your hands dirty is another. The more "we" stray from common terminology and develop our own linguistic approach the more ineffable it becomes - just like the "old fashioned' occult traditions. Everything veiled in florid language so that only those in the circle will understand. I want to change that. Or just leave it the same?

Yeah. I "applauded" you earlier.

I only meant Hermione because she is so ADEPT!

So yeah... Of course...

That link was to four years ago! Yeah, I am amazed at seeing the discussions that have taken place here. Things I would have loved to participate in.

I have never TAUGHT my children to project per se. I have told them about it to determine the level of interest and give them an understanding. My son is the only one so far who really thinks it is a worthy task to employ. My younger ones just think Dad is kinda crazy. Oh well, at least they are right about that!

In this post I was hoping to here of first time stories as I wrote. Hoping...

Not disagreeing. My last post was a weak attempt at humor...

I would like to add however that in "modern" quantum mechanics the term dimension is widely used. It's use IS fixed and that is why I have preferred to use it. I KNOW what it means and how to use the term descriptively. It is actually not "old-fashioned". The understanding of dimensional theory is currently being tested at CERN as I'm sure you enlightened individuals know.

Density is mass divided by the volume of an object. I guess I don't understand what the heck that has to do with consciousness. My understanding of consciousness is that there IS no mass nor volume. The comparison of consciousness to light is perhaps more relevant but once again, no mass, it is a wave when in an excited or higher vibrational state versus "particle" in the lower vibrational or "resting" state. Once again though, I have never heard of "density = dimension". Just sayin.

I am relatively new in these forums and certainly will not try to reinvent the wheel but sometimes the terminology here strays from my understanding of what I know to be true. This old guy didn't just fall off the turnip truck. I am somewhat of a rube though.

Correspondence and coincidence can both be signs of your guides. You can witness these things daily in your life. Especially when facing conflict, opportunity rises.

Please turn into Hermione, please turn into Hermione, please turn into Hermione!

Sorry, that was baaad of me
#134
Yeah I can understand density from the standpoint of matter. Consciousness, though, is a different matter

Always a new concept for this old dog!

Thanks

I am unfamiliar with the term "density". Where does this come from and what doe it refer to? I don't recall it in any of my readings.

Another of those interesting terms that pop up to confuse me!

Thanks, and nice diagrams! I don't get em...  Ive been up toooo long.

That's the kind of question I like to see.  :-)

I'm sure it didn't surprise you!

Yes I did swoop down. What is interesting is that my children know of my experiences and also have been attentive to my recent interest in this website. I believe in teaching gently. This was a prime "opportunity".

As an aside - when my son was three he explained he had been a "different boy". Quite out of the blue he told me he was a ten year old boy who "got shot in the stomach and died". Then he said he was "happy" he was a "new boy". At the time I wondered if he had seen some type of violence on TV or something but it just couldn't have been the case. I was raised with the belief in reincarnation and of course considered this. He doesn't remember this now, 16 years later.

No Xanth I didn't mean this was a surprise to me. Not really, I WAS happy to hear it though. For parents who are not experienced in matters such as AP, etc. this would have fallen on deaf ears I'm sure.

All of my children have been forced to grow up around a metaphysically bound father who insists on conditioning them with art and literature. They all read, do their own art, appreciate their own music choices and are free to express their feelings and imagination. Of course, I had all of this planned before the first was born. I do not believe in enforcing my beliefs on them but I certainly guide them when the opportunity shows itself. This was one such opportunity.

This was just one example of many such experiences my children have had. My oldest is 19 and the stories I can tell about him!
Just curious if there are any other parents/aunts/uncles/sibs around young ones who have heard such tales  :-)

I think it is important to remember the sensations you were experiencing. Sounds like you were in or near to the appropriate state for projection. Remembering these sensations helps to familiarize you with the key time to project, like a signpost. Time to work out a technique for projection. More than half the battle is getting to that state in the first place and realizing you are there.

Good luck and enjoy!

Read "My Platonic Sweetheart" by Mark Twain. It may influence your feelings about these relationships.

Or it's just a cute tale. Either way I have always said "if it feels good, do it; if it doesn't, don't."

Couple days ago the youngest of my three, eleven brilliant years old, told me she had just awoke from a "scary dream". I asked if she remembered it. She told me she dreamed that she got out of her bed and went to her bedroom door. She said the door was slightly open and when she reached to open it further it suddenly slammed shut. She said this scared her and she looked back to her bed and saw the covers moving and someone was in her bed that "looked like her". She said it scared her so much she "woke up".

I told her it sounded like she had an out of body experience. She said she didn't want to do it again :-(

Anyone else with children or know of kids who have related similar tales?
#142
Sounds like you had a bad dream.

Tell your parents you love them and give them hugs everyday. Thank them frequently for the things they have done to help put you through school. These positive actions will help YOU feel better and help relieve some of the tension you feel is coming FROM them.

I have sent out some positive vibes. You should feel them right about..............Now!

The more you pay attention to something the more obvious it becomes.

I'm not so sure that "paralysis" should be included in any type of "technique". It may be an opportunity if one realizes you are in that state but "paralysis" is generally a side effect of REM state and is mostly very brief and really should not happen often. Others may disagree of course. Google sleep paralysis and read some scientific articles about it. The studies generally came about in the study of narcolepsy.

I generally prefer to "roll" out for an OBE. This requires conscious effort and a sleeping body. I generally put my body in that state through meditation and relaxation. I hold my consciousness through the intention of projecting. Once I realize my body is asleep, ie. I become unaware of my physical senses, I "wriggle" without moving. Hard to really describe but I can feel part of me moving but it is not my physical body. Once I am satisfied that my "etheric/astral" body is sufficiently loosened (?) I simply roll out just as if I were getting out of bed. There are too many other techniques to list and I would recommend picking one and staying with it. Too me the key is heightened conscious awareness with a total disconnect from the body and physical sensation.

This I use for OBE. There are many other methods specifically for "astral projection" or you may project astrally from the RTZ once you are OBE.

Hope this made sense.

Enjoy!

Wow. I remember those days. I would lay my head on a pillow and immediately be off in a rush of vibrations and whoosh I'd be off. This actually became burdensome for me. I started feeling like it was not in my control. After a few years I started moving away and resisting. Now after about a ten year hiatus with only a couple experiences a year I wish it would come back strong like that. It isn't. Getting back does become harder, I guess for me it did. My recent successes have been very pleasant and memories are flooding back. Perhaps you could find that happy medium which will keep it readily available. I hope it is like that for you.

Sorry. I am only briefly familiar with this site. Used it at work for a little patient information. It has more about "sleep" than anyone might want to know. Don't know how technical you want to get.

My interpretation of what Frank wrote about meditation was that he preferred the scientific approach and did not wish to be bothered by new age gimmicks. Why would you, really, when you have a natural talent though. Plus the observations he made helped me pull through some of the doubts I have had. The way he described focus 4, I have been there. For years I have had no real way to compare my experiences. It always seemed it was nothing more than a very lucid dream. The OBE's I never doubted though - too "real". I always doubted because I had no real validation. To me, someone who has experienced something and it matches my experience, that is the validation I needed. I had read so many astral travel books and while some of it was similar, I have to admit the skeptic in me was hard to stifle.

In my teens I learned a trick from my mother to wake myself in the morning before school. While preparing for sleep I would repeat a "changing" mantra - "at five o'clock I will wake up, I will wake up at five o'clock, I will be awake at five o'clock" and so on. This almost always worked. I used to brag about it to friends and I would change the time sometimes just to see if it worked. My internal clock is pretty well primed because I occasionally reset it by testing whether I know the time without looking at a timepiece. I still do not need an alarm clock to wake me although I set one just in case.
I see no reason why a person could not do the same with waking in a dream. I certainly don't see any harm in it. I believe consciousness is pretty easy to program with a little training. You might program a queue like "when I see a (queue) in my dream I will become lucid, I will wake in my dream when I see a (queue),etc." I'll give it a shot. Never really thought about doing that. I usually just awaken in the dream when I realize I'm dreaming but it can be pretty hit and miss. Wouldn't hurt to bolster the process.

Thanks for the great idea.
