Greetings!

I think if you are wondering if you are ready, then you probably are!  I don't think it works for you if you aren't ready anyway - so there is no harm in trying.

As for the links to more info on this, sorry can't help you.

Have fun!  :D

(sorry for the delay in my reply)

I think that Hagcin has some great advice! I'd also like to add that it probably isn't so much your body that is "weak", as you put it.  I find a lot of people have trouble maintaining focus through any kind of meditation process - particularly meditations that they are having to maintain all the focus themselves (ie not guided by a tape, etc).  Unfortunately, in toady's society, we are so over stimulated all the time, that when it comes to something like slowing down and going within, we find it a hard thing to do!

May I suggest you do your meditation in a sitting position - maintaining good posture, (head up, etc) with palms upwards on your lap.  I feel you should start by finding a good guided meditation tape to use in the beginning - this helps to give you more of a focus or stimuli to maintain an alert mind.  I know Doreen Virtue has a good chakra clearing guided meditation, which works well (I'm sure there are others out there too).

If this doesn't work then I would consider starting doing some short exercises on focusing your mind, and maintaining that focus.

Wishing you luck in these endeavors.

Thank you all for your insights.

I feel that you might be onto something Vvid, this was my feeling too.  It seems to me that there is little difference between phasing and meditation.  I just wondered if perhaps I was missing something, which had therefore given me the wrong impression.

I apologies, Frank, if I got the terminology slightly wrong.  I meant no disrespect.  :D

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Money for your Gift
July 12, 2005, 09:40:13
Hello all,

Just wondered what other peoples opinion is about being paid for using esoteric and psychic gifts?

You hear of people who bad mouth those like John Edwards and the like for using their psychic gifts to get them ahead in life.  Apparently, with a gift from God such as this, you should be offering your services to the masses for nothing, so that all may have access to it.

This seems like such a fine, every thing's roses kind of idea, however how is the poor person who has such an amazing gift supposed to live in the meantime?  I mean we are living in a monetary based society aren't we?

Also, if not money, then shouldn't there be some kind of energy exchange?

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / guides?
July 12, 2005, 09:21:34
Hi there Froglet,  :D

I would like to move the thread back to your original questions about guides.

I work with my spirit guides and believe that everyone has at least one spirit guide of their own, often more will come in and out of your life as you need them too (however you should focus on just one main presence when you begin, develop the bridge of communication with them and you will likely find you develop a sensitivity or awareness of other guides as time goes on).

Our guides know when we are trying to make contact with them, and are often trying to make contact with us even before we get this idea into our heads!  They usually guide us through our life's challenges in subtle and often unrecognized ways (like through the "coincidences" in life).  But  we can seek out our guides and obtain more specific and conscious contact with them (which I believe is what you are wanting to do!).

I have found knowing my spirit guides has helped change my life.  Spirit guides encourage us to see ourselves as co-creators in life.  They can help bring us a structure that enables us to put the events of our own lives, and even things that are happening on the wider dimension of humanity, into a meaningful context.  They help us to know that we are important to the whole, just by being, and that we do not have to earn our right to existence.  They will teach you that there are no mistakes - only experiential learning opportunities and challenges.  Spirit guides are non-judgmental, comforting and supporting.  And with this kind of comfort and support we can be inspired to make those big changes we have always wanted to make, but have put off.

With all that in mind the way that I have learned to best contact and begin working with my guides is to use the tool of meditation.  There are various meditations available for such a task as contacting your guides, which I would be more than happy to share.  A big rule of thumb, like most things, is not to try too hard to make it all happen.  And regular meditation before even trying to contact your guides will help tremendously, as this clears the "clutter" and allows for the channels of communication to be open and able to flow more easily.

I hope that I have covered what you were after, and wish you much luck in your endeavors for the future.

I have been busily reading posts, and just need to get something straight in my mind.  What is the difference between meditation and astral phasing (I hope I've used the right terminology)?

I here people mention they visit different places in the astral plain and can come across beings that they can communicate with, etc when astral phasing - but this all sounds like what you do in meditation to me.

Someone please explain!?

Welcome to Dreams! / I died.
July 11, 2005, 20:25:45
Death is usually some kind of transition.

You are right, it is unusual to actually experience death while in a dream.  I know myself that I might be about to die, in a dream state, but usually wake up before actual death.

The feeling that I am getting is that perhaps you are not too far off some type of transition yourself.  Perhaps a spiritual step upwards is on the cards?  Perhaps it is anger, remorse, loneliness that hold you back from making this transition.  You may have some issue(s) that you have not been prepared to face which is now coming to the surface.  This may be your wake up call - your higher self telling you to stop hiding and face this stuff now, so that you can move onwards and upwards!

Welcome to Magic! / HIV
July 11, 2005, 20:11:40
Could you talk your friend into going for regular healings?  I would highly recommend this - like a fortnightly type thing - if there is a healing practitioner around your area.  Someone that works with the subtle bodies and energy centers as that healing would be really good for her I feel.

As for magic, this is a tricky one.  Mainly because of your friends attitude.  You can do all the right, strongest and best types of magic, but if they are all set on getting sick and dying then that is some strong magic in itself.  I think you have to start changing the attitude before you even attempt some magic - which is where the healing may come in handy.  I have seen many a case where the unwilling participant goes for healing, and actually feels some changes happening (ie warm hands on them, maybe a headache is relieved) and walks out feeling that maybe it all isn't impossible after all.

But let me guess, you want a spell anyways, huh?

Welcome to Magic! / dark magic
July 11, 2005, 20:00:12
Hi electronic pulse, :D

I feel that you need to fill us in on this black magic stuff that you did prior to now, I am feeling that this is likely the key.

Have you been doing much magic work since then?  Or is it only recently you started practicing some form of magic/energy work again?

The interesting thing is, you make a deal with something like a demon and they don't tend to just go away -  whether or not the bargain was called off.

Do you do much protection work/Psychic self defense?
#135
Just wanted to add something that I have heard is very effective, in relation to the mirrors.  If you place a mirror on the wall facing your front door, it reflects all negative energy that might try and enter back outside.

Glad to here that you have started doing some self defense stuff xander.  I think maybe you should ignore him if ever he mentions that kind of stuff again - you are only giving him the urge to want to do it more if he can see that he is getting a reaction out of you.

Good luck
#136
As I said, often it is subtle.  When you start to notice the subtle stuff, that's when more things start to happen.  (you'll probably be rolling your eyes and groaning at this, sorry  )

I know that sometimes I only experience a warmth, or a light tingling sensation at each chakra point.  I've had times when I don't experience anything at all, and then gotten to my crown chakra and felt light headed.  At times it can just be a wondrous sense of deep relaxation, and nothing more.  You need to be open to anything, and try to not force things to happen (when we want things so badly, we usually miss the little stuff because we're so hell bent on how we want it to come in!).  Be thankful for whatever you get - even if it seems to be nothing at all.

You might even find that it isn't the chakra point itself that you experience something at all - it may be a related body part which feels light, heavy, warm, cold, etc.

Good luck!

Thank you for the welcoming!

I tend to stick my fingers in many magical pies (so to speak)... work with whatever seems relevant at the time.   Use elemental magics, summoned spirits, candle magic, etc.

Are you a fellow magic worker?
#138
No surprise on the fear front - I don't know many people who aren't at least a little afraid of the spirit realm!

There is usually a reason a ghost hangs around.  It would be really fascinating to find out why they are still there - maybe get some more background information on what has gone on there in the past (who has died there/how etc)?

Would love to see the pic you took!  Let me know how it all goes!

Hi there!  :D

Anyone can channel energy so don't discount yourself so quickly!

You mention that a friend tried to open your chakras, have you ever tried working with your chakras yourself?  If you want to do energy work, this is an effect way to begin!  You will find that any energy blocks in your chakras will stop you feeling as much, or being aware of as much.  I find that working with your chakras yourself is much more efficient and beneficial than having someone else do it for you.

A lot of people go looking for the bells and whistles, when they start doing this stuff, and it is generally not the case - at least not when you are first beginning!  You need to look for the subtle, remember that this is a muscle that you haven't used for a long time, you need to tune yourself back into the energies and sensations.  I guess it is like turning up the volume slowly - if it were to hit you all at once you would likely be given a huge jolt/shock and be hesitant to go back for another try.

I use crystals myself and find them a great companion in any kind of work.  Have you woken your crystals up?  They may be sleeping and therefore won't be emanating as much energy as if they were awake.  This is done easily by using bells, or a gong, or a Tibetan singing bowl.  You sound the bells (or whatever item you use) over your crystals, and the vibrations wakes them up.  Do it while holding one in your hand, and see what you can feel!

I'd recommend a meditation working with and aligning the chakras - and you can even use your crystals while meditating.

There are also some basic exercises that you can do to start to be more aware of the energies around you - rub your hands together for like thirty seconds and then hold your hands facing each other about a body width apart. Then slowly bring your hands in towards each other and see when you can feel some resistance, or force between your hands.  This is your energy field!  You can do this same exercise with plants and crystals, to see when you become aware of the chosen item's energy.  These are just basic ideas to get you started, and begin to notice the stuff we usually only unconsciously register.

Hope this helps!

Hi pl, :D

I think some questions need answering before one can really answer your question.  What is it that you are doing when you get sleepy?  Do you do any chakra clearing at all? (this helps most energy work, if you have blockages, these will hinder your efforts)

Greetings One and All, :D

I was just cruising around the web, looking for some interesting sites, when I came upon this one.  Have read some very interesting posts and feedback, so thought I might join in!

I practice magic, but generally on a solitary basis, so it is nice to have somewhere to go and speak with people who have similar interests and varying background (makes for more ideas and points of view!).

Hope to get to know at least some of you, and be able to stick my two bob in here and there!

Welcome to Healing discussions! / Heal a wart?
July 11, 2005, 01:41:06
Hi Faceless,  :D

Just curious, but what would make you think that healing energy wouldn't work on a wart?  If it can work on stuff like cancer and colds, why not a wart??
#143
Did you try to communicate with it at all?  Get any feelings while out with it??   :P

Welcome to Magic! / Air Magick
July 11, 2005, 01:29:52
Hey OrionsDream,  :D

I could see that you got SO much feedback with your question, that I thought I might as well throw in something!

I have worked with all the elements, and YES air is one of them.  What book is it that you were reading which called it "glue"????  That's just crazy!

Have you ever done magic which effected the weather - maybe moved a storm on so that it wouldn't affect what you were doing that day, or raised the wind?  This is some of the magic you can do with air!  Also, the element of air has a lot to do with wisdom and knowledge and intellect.

Hi there General,  :P

It is very possible that this purple haze you saw is related to some kind of spirit around that area.  Ghosts and spirits choose to show themselves in many different ways, so you won't always see them as a person.  Often they do show themselves as some sort of light or mist.

It is great that you have confirmation that someone else has seen the same thing too - often you walk around after seeing such things wondering if it was all just "in your head"!
