Welcome to Dreams! / WILD help
December 30, 2003, 21:11:25
Hey lateralus897
Ive had many MILD's in the past but only one WILD and that was after waking up in the middle of the night and falling straight back into the dream so to speak.

I was wondering if you could possibly share your method to getting to the stage your at currently. The deepest meditation ive had in the past only helped me to get the odd very vivid image but this was brief and faded fast.

Do you sit up meditating or lay down? and how long does it normally take to get to the mind awake/body asleep state? also do you use any imagery when getting to the state or do you just clear your mind or something?

Sorry (and feel free not to answer)if the questions are too personal but the answers would really help :)..
Goodluck

volcomstone: for example the more accuratly you can measure the speed of a particle (electron, atom) the less accurate you can predict the position of the particle, and vice-versa

I may be wrong but i heard that the reason the act of measuring a particle to predict position or speed makes the alternative measurment less accurate is because in the act of measuring e.g. the position of the particle your using light. The photons bouncing off the particle can alter the speed and direction, so the second you recieve the position the speed reading is then unreliable.

I agree though that quantum mechanics is an amazing subject and may produce some crazy findings in the future.

Congrats users_net. good feeling aint it :D.
I often try to achieve OBE in lucid dreams but so far ive never succeeded. It always just changes the dreamscape to my bedroom as if ive projected but im still in a lucid dream.

dkj400 have you ever just stopped while lucid and thought about the situation and what you want to achieve during it?. I normally come up with tasks to do during my next lucid dream and then carry them out when i have it.

Welcome to Dreams! / death in dreams

I know where your coming from and i agree to some extent but could you honestly celebrate if your best friend died?
Its selfish i know but the reason most people mourn is more for themselves, for the fact that they wont be able to see the person for the rest of their lives (at least their current life). After all its the ones left behind who suffer, not the deceased.

Yeah I think I will. Although I dont get lucid dreams that often, maybe once or twice a month, and as my latest was this morning i might be waiting abit [:)].

Hey Coffee and all.

I too have died in a dream which i described in a previous post. I would think alot of the people who say you die in real life after dying in a dream have also died in dreams, just there dream recall isnt good enough for them to remember.
Firetoice lol, if your not already i suggest you begin practicing lucid dreaming because the sooner you learn to teleport to you house in dreams the better. :P

lol.. no i dont think your disturbed.. dream kids can be very evil :).

That reminds me of another experience i had not so long ago though. I had a dream where i was on the top of a huge building. On it was an artificial beach with water n everything. I was part of some organisation that was apparently at war. As i was looking around a group of men ran onto the beach shooting with machine guns. After trying to find my weapon and failing i let the other members of the team take the enemy out. One of the enemy turned on there own men and killed them all.
After it was over i went over to the guy to shake his hand and thank him but as i did about 4 more men ran from a doorway. The friendly guy shouted run so i did.. as i was running i turned around to see what they had done to him and there where 2 of the enemy right behind me. I turned to continue running and i felt myself get shot through the back of the neck.. then the back of the head. I heard the gun shots.. and i lost vision. It was a horrible feeling lying on the floor.. like my life was draining from me. I tried to gain conciousness and stay aware but i lost the battle. Then i woke.

And you say your disturbed lol.

LD2
The second big/bigger one I had today and am very pleased with. As I said above by watch it lasted about 1.5 hours but im not sure that's even possible for one dream? (Comments welcome) all I know is it felt like it lasted at least an hour.
*Note the first bit of the dream before the OBE bit seemed to last ages and I've forgot quite a lot of it but the main bits I remember are below.
After getting up at 8 I then went back to bed. I was thinking about OBE's as I fell asleep and almost immediately seemed to enter a dream.

I was stood in a street; it looked like an Italian street or something. It had narrow roads and alleyways and there were many people in them. I knew I was dreaming and actually said to myself "its good to be back". I began showing off to people in the street doing back flips, front flips and weird side flips lol. I also flew quite a bit in the beginning. When asked the Inevitable "How are you doing that?" I told them either they were dreaming or they were just a part of my dream.
Im not sure why but in this dream I kept telling people that a possibility was they were dreaming along with me and we were just meeting in this dream land.
Yet again after being in the same street and at one point on a bridge for ages I then started to get bored of the place. I was shocked again at how long this was going on for and decided that instead of being in a dream I wanted to have an OBE.
I can't remember the transition period but the next thing I know im in my room, I tried to walk through my bedroom door but I couldn't. I decided to see if I was in bed. I got a strangely intense feeling looking at myself in bed (and no. it wasn't sickness :P).

I must say at this point that I don't think I was actually having an OBE looking back into it I think it was part of the LD.

I then saw my mom come into the room and shout me, for a moment I wondered whether to re-enter my body but I decided not too. I then proceeded to walk through the wall with no problem. YEY! After going into the neighbour's house and seeing that she was in bed I then came up with a mission to go for a trek to a friends house. I jumped out of a near by window and landed a floor down outside. After walking abit I met my friends mom (the friend who I was trying to get to). She offered me a lift, after being frustrated about my inability to simply appear in my friend's room I accepted.
Half way through the journey I began laughing at how stupid it was. I was sitting in a dream car with a dream seat belt on. I pulled the seat belt back into me so it actually went through me and that kept me amused for a while. I then got out no-where near the place I wanted to be.
I don't remember my journey back to where I wanted to be apart from a few bits. I met up with a friend (peter) from work and we began walking down the road. I looked around me for a while. (And I suggest you do it in your LD's) I just looked at the tree's blowing in the wind, the cars n bus stops and the people walking about me. I said to peter "I must have a good graphics card to run all this". Couldn't and still don't believe how perfect it was.
-=A random act of violence=-
Peter told me he was making his way to college and I told him not to bother, as it's only a dream and to go do something fun but he insisted and in the end I decided it could be fun. As I was walking a guy came running infront of me really fast and for some reason I just kicked him as hard as I could (im not a violent person), The guy hit the floor very hard and a small crater was created around his body as he cracked paving stones going a good half a meter into the floor. He then got up and people ran over to his aid. I told them all not to bother as it was a dream but they began to get violent. At this point peter is still laughing about the guy being kicked. The guy I kicked began shouting in some language I've never heard and I remembered the scene from matrix 2 where neo takes on lots of agent smiths.
2 of them began throwing punches at peter and he blocked them all, Joining in I tried to do the matrix thing but I just wasn't fast enough. (I now have a new found respect for neo, it seriously isn't as easy as it looks :P)
After the fighting had ended, im proud to say I won, I met a woman and decided to do the pervert thing and started to kiss her but I got a really strange taste in my mouth and the clarity began to subside, I knew I was waking up and the woman just started laughing at me. I decided the dream had gone on long enough anyway and let it happen. I watched everything begin to turn grey until it could almost resemble an un-tuned TV, I then woke.

Sorry it was so long but I was writing it up for my journal and couldn't be bothered shortening it.

Im still way excited about this dream, just the length of it mostly, that and its been nearly a month since the other above. Has anyone else had LD's where it seems to last 1 hour +? I once heard that every dream lasted a maximum of 10 mins but I now know that can't be true.

Ah,
By "when its on your mind" i meant when it gets to be habit. not when you think you might be dreaming.
#160
I found the best method that started me off lucid dreaming was to simply think alot about being lucid during the day, read the forums often and also to do reality checks every now and again saying things like "Am i dreaming".. Dont just say it though, actually look around and think about it. I used to try and change the colour of something like a wall.
When its on your mind to do reality checks you will eventually do one in a dream and you should become lucid (if you realise).

Good luck anyway.

entry from www.dictionary.com --> search word = Djinn...

"In Muslim legend, a spirit often capable of assuming human or animal form and exercising supernatural influence over people."

I suppose these shadows also take on human or animal forms aswell, so could well be what your looking for.

p.s.
I also agree with JustLikeThePill there cool little animals with magic powers from golden sun :).

cheers greatoutdoors, i wish you the best of luck aswell.

Heh, might well be, i was too high up at the time to be able to make out if there was a pyramid or not, and ive never seen that picture so i wasnt actively looking for one. looks about the same size though.

I've had alot of islands in my dreams lately.. infact i think its the same one in each dream, its alot bigger than the one on that picture and in my AP though.

Cheers for the reply, there was enough info on the forum and what Ive read in the past to make me instantly realise what was going on at the time but its good to get opinions of others on the matter.

Im just happy it happened. Its like conformation to me. And now ive got alot more motivation for the subject.

Yeah,
i know the feeling, distractions get annoying. i hate the random itches that come from nowhere seemingly just to annoy you. I dont know about me doing good, im kinda new to all this. I did have an interest in the past but during college i decided to focus on college work, and alot of things got left behind.
Its only reading up on lucid dreams that has got me back here, i think its a great idea to work on remembering dreams and building on having lucid dreams, i think they could be a very useful way to get an OBE.
And as i said previously i had very little training.. just thinking every now and again about the question reality technique got me 3 lucid dreams and i found i could remember dreams alot better. Imagine having complete control over all of your dreams :D, ud never really sleep, live life during the day and night, think of the time we waste while sleeping :).

while im on i was meaning to ask, what technique do you use Nay, i mean through the day (such as meditation) and when you come to try and OBE? im imagining probebly many different ones? if you have answered the question in another post then just say and ill go look.

Anyway. must be going.

Congrats Nay.
Its people like you sharing your experiences and progression that help keep others (such as me) motivated to practise.
I agree with your previous post about how important it is not to think about your physical body while in a lucid dream.

I had an experience not long ago where i half woke in the middle of a dream and then realised and fell straight back into the same dream.
i was standing in my kitchen and i said to the other people in there "im lucid dreaming", i got the same negative disbelieveing remarks as i had gotten in my last lucid dream (im not a lucid dream expert or anything.. ive had 4 in total but lately after reading and focusing so much energy on it ive had 3 in a month, the other i had as a child.)
I decided to prove it to them and proceeded to fly around the kitchen spinning in the air. i then decided i wanted to astral project from this dream but stupidly concentrated on moving my astral body without my dream body :S. as if in the dream i was in the physical, I woke up real quick after i did this.

On a side note does anyone else find that they arn't quite as bright in lucid dreams lol.
For instance my second from last lucid dream when i realised i was dreaming i used the look at a wall and try and change its colour technique. when that didnt work i was still sure i was dreaming, for some stupid and unknown reason i decided i would go to my house and see if i was inbed :S. so there i am in my house (in the dream) and the beds empty, i couldnt understand it, so i asked my friends and they told me i wasnt dreaming. i decided to believe them and thats all i can remember.. i must of drifted into dreaming normally.

ive drilled it into my head now that when i think im dreaming i just try to fly, it seems to get more results then trying to change things in the dream.

PS Keep up the good work Nay, your doing great.
