This is my opinion on what a Lucid Dream is:  http://unlimitedboundaries.ca/2010/11/04/what-are-lucid-dreams/

The problem, I believe, when people try to define a lucid dream is that they do exactly what you said... they call it "more than just a dream".  Well, to me, that's a massive understatement... because really "what is a dream".  To say that your experience was "just" a dream isn't giving the experience the due consideration that it requires.

I'd call them "non-physical experiences of differing levels of awareness".
I no longer agree with the term "dream" anymore as an objective experience.

Thats fine, i agree

IMO, let them live out their own path.  If you don't like the drug aspect, find new friends.  I have a dear friend of thirty years and we've had to break our connection because she has moved onto such a path that I just can not go with her.  I love her and I will be here for her when or if she needs me, but sometimes you just have to get away to save yourself.  People must be able to learn from their own mistakes.  All the talking in the world will not help.

I see what your saying, but it doesnt bother me that they use drugs, i my self use to do mind-altering drugs about 2 years back now but i have stopped and been sober now off them for a year. I pretty much put all that behind me.

Its just i dont want them trying to do this because their viewing it as just "controlling your dream!"

and thanks everyone for your alls opinions on this

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Gotta Question

A lot of my friends have took interest in lucid dreaming(OBE) and the concept of it all, Point being is theyve been asking me all about it and i was curious, whats the best way to explain to someone exactly what their getting themselves into? for example explaining how its more than just "you can control your dreams!", pretty much saying its more than just a dream. Reason im asking this is because i feel what their doing right now in their real lives will have a major-negative affect on them when their trying to do so, for example a few of them do a lot of mind-altering drugs frequently and thats automatically probably not a good decision

I think their just caught up in the whole idea of "I CAN CONTROL MY DREAM!" and how it can relate to not being in the normal mind state.

I dont know where to start?

I never had to look for my dead pets, they all came to me.  So, maybe that will happen to you.  :-)

id love for that to happen, hopefully it will once i get projecting down
#154
So if im trying to find my dead cat, I can find it. But is it just a projection of the memories of my cat? Or Is it the actual cat afterlife.

Robert Monroe gave a few in his books... if you're read them.
They're quite good.  :)

Dying in wars...
One person got shot robbing a store...

etc...

But regardless, everyone gets out of their "loop" their stuck in sometime right

Because some people die under such extreme circumstances that when they actually DO pass... the act of passing goes completely unnoticed.
So, now they find themselves, unknowingly, in a realm where what they think, feel and expect to happen DOES happen... yet they have no knowledge of this.
So they keep interacting with their environment in their rather unstable state... and yeah... it's easy to see how they get "stuck".  :)

What are some examples of extreme circumstances? I was confused after I read about all of franks focus levels. I have so Many more questions now

#157
I don't understand how you can help someone who died and they not realize it themselves..?

As a beginner... chances are VERY GOOD that you won't have it that easy.  :)

I mean, I might be wrong and you're a natural... but, it's just that the odds aren't with you on this one.  LoL

evidentially hahahahha

I would say that time isn't as important as the effort put forth. If your not putting the needed concentration into visualization, it won't go anywhere no matter how long you do it. And it's really hard to visualize for an hour straight. I'd start off with maybe 30 - 40 minutes in mind, and then adjust to suit your progress.

Oh i see, I guess I was misled because the book I have about OBE the guy makes it sound just way to easy. This is an exact quote

"I lay down in bed and start saying my affirmitives until I slowly drift asleep..minutes later im awoken by intense vibrations and I slowly picture myself just floating out of my body"

This is how most of his OBE start, making it sound like you can just go to sleep with visualizing and saying, then he manages to somehow wakeup minutes after

So are there "kingdoms" that more than just 1 person claimed to visit? Or is every kingdom different because their your own "projections"

I sometimes start with breathing exercises and/or chanting to get me relaxed and the trance started, then when in a light trance switch to visualization. I have several that work for me. You know it's working when it starts to get hard to hold onto. The longer you can do it without drifting off or thinking about other things, the better. Even if nothing immediately happens, it'll improve your concentration and visualization skills over time.

So pretty much dont let your mind get bored and wonder, and fall asleep. Any visualization or affirmative would work as long as you do it long enough correct? Everytime I practice I'm going to now atleast give it an hour or so.

Counting to 200 could only be about 4 or 5 minutes at the most, and it will probably put you to sleep. Any vibrations at this point is probably just light stuff that indicates you're starting trance. The real vibrations are unmistakable. I suggest learning to deepen the trance while staying passively aware and learning to stay in that state for a period of time. Trying to exit before will probably stop the whole process.

I see, but there has been times where ive layed there for 45mins-hour but majority of the times i could def. wait a little bit longer. So if you say my way will probably end up putting me to sleep, which it has before lol how do you deepen your trance?
#163
what are your best ways the vibration stage? im curious because my way i just always end up falling asleep and entering a normal dream.

the past weeks ive just been counting to about 100-200 and with every exhale i say "now im out of my body". once i start to feel any sort of vibrations and try to wheel myself to floating, i can literally feel myself almost getting out during floating but it will just stop.. and then i try to get back to this stage and i fall asleep :(

So here's what happened

I had a dream where I was walking outside my house and I just stopped and said I'm dreaming, right when I realized this the entire scene faded away and then the next thing I know I find myself opening my eyes in my dark room(I normally have a blacklight, tv and a lava lamp on in my room) and i was hearing the loud buzzing noise. But as I was opening my eyes I saw a pure white, character standing right beside my bed looking down at me? When I tried to focus on it I actually woke up the next second.

Why was this person in my room, and my room being completely altered to pitch black?

is it possible to astral project, come back to your body to recall everything, and then leave again directly after? as in have 3-4 experiences in lets say an hour?
#166
wow yours and personalrealitys story were both very intense, and he seemed to cover what needs to be done pretty much. i read this story last night before i was going to try and project and it scared me to where i didnt want to lol.

but i hope everything works out for you
#167
Ive done DMT a handful of times, you leave your body but not in the same sense of an AP.

Drugs such as LSD,Shrooms,Peyote, ETC will give you effects of feeling out of your body, but regardless your still in reality awake.

I wouldnt try doing drugs to get on the astral, that just doesnt sound like good idea lol

I see two trends in your experiences- your attempts to get out of a specific area/focus and your inability to stay in the experience.  Perhaps you need to develop more in the area you're in (explore it more, see what it's trying to teach you) before you try to go further.
Also, I notice you want others to interpret your experiences, and this may not be helpful to you- maybe you need to try to figure out what the symbols are trying to show you in the experience, and if it doesn't make sense to you, then ask for help.

i see, appreciate it by the way

but i was only lucidly aware for a few seconds it felt like, i just cant stay in it for some reason. i figured asking for clarity twice would of did it but instead woke me up?
#169
So i had some crazy dream recall last night, i remembered about 3-4 dreams... The very last one though i became lucid in it but ive never had this happen yet, i became lucid in a nightmare-type dream. But i was at one of my friends house and i was being held hostage or something like that? and every time id try and escape id fail but it was kind of like the whole dream would restart after i tried to escape and failed. After like the 3rd time i eventually got out of this house that i was at and i was running down this hill at like super-sonic speed hahahha. i started to jump and ended up being able to float up in the air which made me realize i was dreaming. i continued to do this until i was able to control my flying, but then once i got that down i was still kind of scared of what happend before, but i asked for clairty twice back to back, and it just made me wake up. why?

#170
Yes the past few times I've attempted I've had weird random Body itches, and also some muscle twitching. And sometimes i feel like my eyes are flattering, why?

Maybe you became very self-aware of what you were doing and it shocked you out of it. You're not used to walking through walls, so the experience was a little overwhelming. I'm not sure, just throwing it out there.

Yea i really don't know how to explain what it felt like when I hit the wall, it wasn't like solid it felt like mush or something lol. But I remember after trying it being like "huh?" and waking up.
#172
Anyone?

When your lucid dreaming aren't you in astral.. Which means you are projecting when you realize your dreaming.

Well i had another lucid dream last night and it was great, didnt try to have one or anything at all.

The only thing i ran into that was a problem was that i tried to walk through one of the walls in my downstairs living room, and i woke up after trying to do so. Why couldnt i go through? i really believed i was going to go through it, not "can i go through this wall?"
