Thank you for the list. I will try to pick one up soon. So many books, so little time.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / dreaming

When I have time to actively project and meditate frequently I find that I have more lucid dreams. For the past few months I have not had time to do either and I rarely remember any dreams much less have any lucid dreams. I think there is a connection.

If I had the time that you do I personally would not devote all my time to meditation and trying to project. Exercise would be a good thing to add to your schedule. Not only is it good for you and helps you stay healthy but it can relieve stress and tension in your physical body which can help you relax more. Also by doing physical activities it will tire the physical body but not usually the mind which should help in projecting as well. I believe that moderation is the key to a healthy life, both physical and spiritual. Neglecting one for the other is not a positive thing (atleast to me), though I know that there are those that believe in both extremes. While you are meditating look for what you need to do to progress. You should know more about yourself than anyone else and should find the answers within. Of coarse it does not hurt to ask either and most people on here are always willing to help. I wish you lots of luck.

The voids are places that seem to be nowhere. It was described to me as being between planes. It is like you are definitely out of body but are not actually anyway, just sort of in a void. It can be pitch black but the times I have experienced it it is usually sort of foggy.

There are many places in the astral, infinite really. Some of which are totally different than anything you can imagine.

It was not uncommon for early Christains to fast and meditate. This to would most likely lead to OBEs, and in fact many are recorded in the Christain Bible if you look, though it is not spelled out directly as being astral projection but there are references to being out of body.
Also look at it like this, how is going to the spiritual realm to better expand and explore your spiritual growth wrong or evil? If we were not suppose to do it I do not think we would be able to. It is not the act that is wrong or evil. AP is just like anything else we do, it is a tool or skill. It is how we use it that makes the difference, if you wish to place good or evil values on it.
I suggest you read "The Secret of The Soul" by William Buhlman. It is a good read and he suggests that AP is a natural part of our spiritual growth and that early religious founders did it all the time and were actually reporting their experiences.
Your fears may be a little difficult to get over but you can if you work on it.

You have nothing to fear but fear itself.

vk:
Question: I understand your analogy, but similarly, just b/c a child has a curious mind, does that mean that the parent should allow the child to explore his or her surroundings without reservation? Serious injury and/or death could occur, it seems to me. Your thoughts?

Well do you think that God would allow you to get into something that is dangerous? There are safe guards that you must overcome to grow before you can continue to explore futher. Fear is the first and one of the biggest of these. Once you have dealt with your fear then things will become much easier.
Your astral body is invulnerable. You cannot be hurt unless you allow yourself to which is mostly by allowing your emotions to overtake you. Learn to control your emotions and you will be ready to explore the astral. Just remember that you truly have nothing to fear. Fear is lack of knowledge.

By false heaven I mean a place on the astral that people think is the end all, be all, highest you can go, this is it heaven. Looking at it like that it is a false heaven if it is just on the astral and not on the highest plane, assuming there is such a thing. It is also harmful if it is a false heaven because these people think that is all there is and are not seeking out more.

An example: Lets say a group of people believe that when you die you go to a nice shiny bright city, "Heaven". So these people die and find themselves in a shiny bright city. They think this is it, this is heaven. They set up residence in this place and prepare for eternity there. While the truth is that there is much more to that plane, and many more planes, many more existences beyond what they think is the one and only place to be. So their spiritual growth, or evolution, has stopped.
This is not to put anyone's beliefs down. But if you are close minded about what exists beyond the physical then you can find yourself trapped in a place that is not really what is appears to be.

Another example: A christain dies and goes to a place that is on the astral that is much like he/she thinks heaven is like. They accept it as being the heaven their religion talks about, set up residence and stop their growth. They may have been a true seeker on the physical and grown a lot but because of this they have stopped. If they continue their searching they may find the truth that they seek, the highest possible spiritual growth or evolution.

If you are refering to heaven in the sense that it is somewhere nice and a place you would like to be for eternity then I guess false heaven would be the wrong term to use, but that is not what I was refering to.

I do not find it that impossible to see a child having this gift. After all children have not been on this plane as long as adults so they are more likely, depending on how they have been brought up, to less materialistic and possibly more intune with spiritual energies. Children seem to be a lot more likely to experience OBEs, astral sight, and see auras than adults. I have read that they almost have a natural ability to do these things. So maybe it is not as impossible as it may first seem.

Though I do think that your emotions for your child have something to do with it as Tisha has stated. It might be a mix of both.

It sounds to me that one of a few things happened. You might have been in a void area, or a place between planes. Was it sort of like the black voids only it was hazy? I have been to such a place before. It felt like I was in a fog or something and that nothing else was around. You might have been out of focus with the place you were at and only needed to tune into the place more. Or you might have just gone to a formless plane. Something that I see talked about very little on here and have been meaning to bring up. If everything is just energy then there is really no form only the forms we wish to project. So maybe you were in a an area with on form.

1. When did you start having OOE's? (i.e. age)

I had my first OBE when I was around 16 (don't remember my actual age).

2. Did your experiences start spontaneously or were you taught/teach yourself?

My first experience was spontaneous. I was sitting in class in high school and felt this strong energy or vibration. I concentrated on it, not know what it was at the time, and I was suddenly on the astral standing in this field surrounded by a forest.

The rest of my experiences are sort of a mix. Mostly they happen when I want them to, though sometime they happen when I am just trying to meditate. It was a few years after my fist experience that I learned what it was and started studying how to do it. I took what I learned and experimented to get what works best for me.

2. How often do you have OOE's? (i.e. once a week, once a month, once a few months with difficulty, whenever you want.)

Well due to lack of time lately I have not had one in several months, probably around April was the last time I had one. When I try I can usually have one about every day, atleast a few times a week when I have practiced and have the time.

3. When is the best time of day for you to perform OOE's?(i.e. First waking up, before bed)

In the afternoon or evening is the best for me. The morning in not good as I am either too tired or too awake to try then. At night I am usually too tired and fall asleep. The afternoon or evening is best as at that time I have got some things done and feel I can relax better without being too tired and fall asleep.

4. Do you lay down or sit in a chair while performing OOE's?

When I am trying I usually lay down, but I have projected a few times sitting up, such as with my first experience.

5. How long does it take you from initiating a trance to projection-exit that becomes OOE?

15 -  30 minutes is usually a good time. A few times it may happen sooner, but I am usually not relaxed enough if I do start to leave that soon and it does not usually last but a few seconds. If it takes longer that 45 minutes then I usually take a break or just try to meditate.

6. How long does your OOE's last?

Any where from a few seconds to a few minutes. I have not had any long experiences yet, but hopefully I will be getting more time to practice soon and can improve this as well as my over all projecting.

Here is a link you might find interesting. The book mentioned is a good read as well.

When I said that what footage they showed on tv was not the actually landing I did not mean that the whole thing was fake. I have heard that what they showed the public at the time was footage from other missions where man did not actually set foot on the moon. Atleast some of the footage, but not all of it. I think it was my parents that told me this who were actually there to see it on tv. Maybe someone who watched it can confirm this. I do not know why the government would just say that man has been to the moon when he has not. But then again I do not know why they do a lot of things. I still believe that man has set foot on the moon, though I would like to watch this show so if anyone knows if it is coming on again let me know. As for fake footage, I think it is possible that there is footage of the astronauts practicing in a similar setting on Earth before they actually went to the moon. From everything I have learned about NASA they put them through lots of training. So maybe this show got a hold of this footage and is using it to proove their point.

Some of you sound just like the people that refuse to believe that OBEs are real.

The Astral is so much more interesting.  I think I might want to visit the Heaven belief-systems.   It would be interesting to see how many there are.  For instance, Islamic men supposedly go to heaven and are serviced for eternity by 70+ "houris" (women).  So what happens to muslim women?  Do they become the houris?  Just think . . . there is no escape for the Muslim woman.  In servitude in life AND in death.  I might start a women's liberation movement there (HA HA just kidding).

I wonder how many versions of Heaven there are.  For instance, how do Christians reconcile where they go . . .?  There are Christians who believe all Christians go to heaven.  Then there are Baptists, for instance, who only believe Baptists go to heaven.  So do they get their own Heavens?  Do the inclusive-Christians ever wonder where the exclusive-ones went?

I think I might want to visit the spirit of Jesus and ask him what he REALLY thinks.

"As Above, So Below"

I would think that there are infinite "heavens" as there are pretty much infinite believes throughout time about the afterlife. I am just wondering if you could start any kind of movement in a false heaven. I would think that the people there are there because they are so consumed with their belief that they would not even consider your ideas. Those that do question the "heaven" have probably already been "thrown out" and looked for the truth. Could be interesting though.

You need to learn to deal with your fear. I have had experiences where I will feel like someone/thing is around and I would become afraid. I have recently realized that if there was anything to fear it would have certainly happened by now. There is nothing to fear. Fear will paralyze you and ruin any experience for you. If something is going to happen it will happen, how the experience goes is up to us. If we allow ourselves to become engulfed with fear the experience will not be very pleasant and will only cause discoarse in our lives. But reguardless of what happens if you stay positive and open you will learn from it. Except what has been happening and do not fear it. Ask yourself what it is that you actually fear? Is it the events that have happened, or is it the unknown? Is your fear actually based on anything with merit or is it just being paranoid?

I know nothing of any meaning to life or such terrible acts. But the whole world is not just terrible acts. The news seems to want people to think that things such as this is all that happens, but it is not. I suggest you stop watching/reading the news for awhile and take a break. I know I have to do this at times. Instead look at all the possitive things that happen around you. There are probably more than you think, you just do not pay much attention to it. How many people have been nice to you today? Anyone let you out/over while driving? Just yesterday I was standing in line at the store with just 3 things to buy. There were two ladies in front of me with many more things. They were nice and let me go in front of them. At times like that I feel reassured that there is still good in the world. Though their act was nothing big, it still was nice. If you want the world to be a brighter place you must do your part. You cannot expect others to be nice if you are not. If you want to make the world a better place be nicer to people and look towards the positive and try to ingore the negative.

Rarely in life do we get to have everything the way we want it. You have been given the change to make a new life, but you are not willing to leave your current life behind. When you are ready to move on then you will find this new life that you seek. Yes it will be difficult leaving your daughter so far away, but it is not like you are leaving her for good. You will still get to see her. On long weekends 350 miles is an easy drive. And your daughter will probably want to come see you on her vacations as well as you going to her on yours. And one thing to consider, in a few years your daughter will be wanting to find her self and her independence. She will not be wanting to spend as much time with you (sorry that is just life). Just some things to consider.

You should look within and see what it is that you really want, and what you are really willing to change to get it.

You know, if the networks air stories like these it might actualy deter crime. I know I would think twice before I broke into someone's house or walked into a store to rob if I knew I might be killed. But instead tv protrays the criminals as being powerful and the citizens as being weak and bending to their will. When will they stop idolizing crime and start giving lawful citizens more respect?

This was a race. This was brought on mostly out of competition because of the cold war. The Russians were the first into space so the US wanted to be the first at some other greatness in space travel. What is greater than reaching out and touching the moon. I am sure it does not seem like something great to us today, but at the time I bet it was quiet an accomplishment. I cannot imagine what it was like living in a world that man had not been to the moon. By the way, when is the last time that anyone has been to the moon?

I agree with you on this. Everyone who owns a gun should be educated on how to use it properly and safely. This I believe is probably not enough though and really should have some kind of counseling or classes about anger and urges. This might help people remain calm or atleast walk away and cool down before doing something foolish.

It depends on how you use sex to help you project. I would say that it can effect projecting in one of two ways. First as you have mentioned it can help with relaxing if you release your energy, and ejaculating can cause you to feel relaxed, drained and disconnected from your body. But at the same time it can cause you to be too relaxed and fall asleep. From your post I assume that you do not know about Toaist sexual practices and cultivating sexual energy. In this practice you pull your sexual energy through your body and store it. This not only leads to better feeling sex it also makes you more energized. To me this can help you feel your energies bodies better, which when trying to project can help you move your consciousness more easily to your astral body, and not feel drained while doing it either.

When I posted I was not thinking about sneaking into movies but instead going some place that you could not afford to go to, or for political reasons are not able to go to. Like taking a trip to some tropical island or going to China, Iraq or some place like that. Seeing a movie would not be high on my list of things to do while out of body. In fact I actually doubt that you could as when we watch a movie we tend to loose awareness of our enviroment and get into the movie. If you were out of body and could see a movie I would think that you would most likely drift out of the RT zone and find yourself actually inside the movie on the astral.

As for astral friends, I have never really meet anyone while out of body. But some have and I am sure you could make friends with them or they might be your guide and help you with your astral travels. I still think it would be cool if we could all meet up out of body, but I do not think most of us are that skilled yet. I know I am not. Hopefully I will get some more time to practice soon and can start working on that. Then I can come pick you all up and we can go to Saturn or some place. Welcome to Astral Chat! / Do You Believe in Guns?

I strongly believe that people kill people, not guns. Guns are only a tool. If someone wants to kill another they will reguardless of the tool. Guns like other tools can be dangerous and need to be handled with care and intelligence. I likewise strongly believe that everyone has the right to bare arms. If it were illegel that would just allow criminals to have guns and not the lawful citizens. So why punish those that have been obeying the law? Guns have useful benefits that can range from self defense to sport.

Something that I am interested in is how banning them actually effects life in countries such as the UK. clandestino, and others that live in such countries, have crimes involving guns decreased a lot? Are they still used by criminals? If someone has a shot gun in their house and say several men break into the house, they are not allowed to use the shot gun in their defense? Are people suppose to sit by and let the criminals have their way with the man's wife and children until the police arrive? Just curious how things are over there.

How was the incident in Scotland resolved? If a teacher or principal had a gun they could have quickly removed the threat this man posed instead of having a bunch of people that could do little to stop him.

You hear all the time on the news about how guns are bad and how some man or woman went to a school or park and open fired. The thing is you never hear about the person who was standing by and happen to have a gun and shot this maniac before they could kill everyone there. Most governments and organizations spread this propaganda so people will want to ban guns. People without guns have less power and are thus easier to control.

Flag fluttering? I do not recall seeing the flag flutter in any of the footage I have seen. I am pretty sure we have landed on the moon. I would think that if we had not other nations, especially the USSR at the time, would had prooven it otherwise. I find it kind of odd that they would have a show on this as I think most people believe that we have been to the moon. Though I have heard that the footage shown on tv during the first landing was not live but recorded stuff from other missions. I do not know I was not around on then. Sounds like it was an interesting watch though.
