I wouldn't really worry about it Leyla.
You can be, without thinking.
When you look at a beautiful sunset you do not think that "it is beautiful", you know it without thinking.
Being comes from awareness, and you can be aware without thinking.

Welcome to Integral Philosophy! / Matter and Volume

If you divide 100m ten times you get 10x10m, so the runner would have to reach 10 points before he completed the 100m. If the number is divided indefinitely the runner would have to reach infinite number of points before completing the 100m, which would be impossible since the points are divisible indefinitely.

Welcome to Integral Philosophy! / Matter and Volume
December 24, 2004, 07:44:05
The philosophical conundrum that I'm facing at the moment has to do with spatial volume and *physical* matter. I am not experientially familiar with the internal worlds of the astral and higher planes but I would assume that physical matter would have the same spatial laws as higher dimensions (ie. astral, mental ect.). It would put my concern to rest if the problem only pertains to the physical plane of the 3 spatial dimensions and physical matter.

However the problem I have lies in the relatable argument of whether the universe is finite or not in terms of space. Imagine you have an unlimited amount of measuring tape. Could it be placed at the start of the universe and be stretched to the end of the universe to measure the diameter (assuming the universe is spherical)? I'm sure this could be verified in the astral and would appreciate others opinions on this.

The argument for this case asserts that in *the beginning*, or dawn of time, the universe was condensed down to an infinitesimal portion of matter the size of a pea. Shortly after the big bang the universe theoretically expanded and has continued to expand to the present day.

The case against this declares that the universe has no spatial limits and is infinite in every sense of the word. This theory at once seems more appealing and comforting to some because it means that the universe will not eventually contract back into nothingness. Although for some it would be quite ridiculous to conceive that all matter was condensed down to such a minute mass in the first place.

The problem with the spatially limited universe theory is the notion of implausible spatial confines.
Let's say that the universe is spatially limited. In due course the question comes to mind: "what is beyond the universe"? Or "what is the universe expanding into?" Next we can say that it is expanding into another universe. But then, someone will surely ask: "where is that other universe expanding into?" And so the questions become redundant as the result materializes as theoretically infinite exponentially expanding universes.

The problem with the spatially unlimited universe theory lies in Zeno's paradox. If we state that the spatial volume of the universe is infinitely large, therefore it must be infinitely small too. However a philosophical problem arises with this notion. Zeno's paradox states that from observational reality the notion of matter being infinitely small is unsustainable. Quoting from the site, a runner for example who must run a 100m race must face 1x100m. Or we can express this mathematically as 2x50m, or 4x25m ect. However if matter is infinitely small then we can continue making the number of meters that we are multiplying smaller. If this pattern continues it is evident that the runner will never reach his destination.

If there is an absolute smallest particle (such as an atom) that is no further reducible then obviously there are an increasing number of *atoms* in the universe as it expands. This is true in my opinion because as the universe is expanding now but matter is not being "stretched" as such, rather new matter is materializing. This would explicate the problem of all existing matter being condensed down to the size of a pea as the additional matter would simply no longer exist. This theory is quite lose as its straight off the top of my head but I'm sure its got some potential for investigation into the nature of the spatial expansion of matter within the universe.
Ultimately I don't find it feasible that the universe is self-sustaining and will one day collapse into nothingness. That would go both against philosophical principles and spiritual laws.

I have assembled a few methods for promoting the improvement of auric sight for anyone interested. These methods work by intensifying the after-image that can be retained in your minds eye.

Candle flame image
Sit at eye level from a comfortable distance away from a candle. Concentrate on the flame intently but do not strain your eyes. Do this for at least half a minute. Close your eyes and capture the after-image of the flame. Aim to keep it in focus. It may be easier to do this in the evening or with the lights dimmed. Once you capture the after-image you will notice that it dissolves quite rapidly. If you continue practicing this you will be able to retain the image for a longer period of time.

Object image
Make sure the room is as dark as possible while still being able to see what you are doing. Concentrate on an object (even though you can only just see it) for a few seconds. Position a camera above and to the side of the object. Put the camera on timer so that it goes off while your perception is fixed on the object. Exactly at the moment when the flash goes off close your eyes and make an attempt to see the after image of the object. If this is done correctly you should be able to see the object and everything around it just as if your eyes were open, but it takes practice to get this right.

Object image (eyes open)
This method may only be effective after you complete the previous visualization successfully. Sit close to a light such as a bedside lamp. Ensure that it is the only light on in the room. When I experimented with this I used a touch light on the dimmest light settings. Bring your focus to the light and concentrate on it. You do not have to concentrate directly on the bulb. Turn the light off after about a minute without shifting your perception. If you retain your perception correctly the light and some area around it will materialize into your line of vision for a few seconds even though the room is totally dark and nothing would normally be seen.

Continuing these methods to do them more effectively and retain the after image for longer has improved how well I can see auras and visualize in general.

I don't think it would be too hard to add this feature. The admin would have to install this script if he wanted to add it. That's as far as I know anyway, I don't know phpBB very well.

catsyniki:

I've experienced the same thing but I can't focus enough for the images to materialize.

I actually only noticed it after practicing the techniques on this page.

I don't know if it will help you but I'm quite interested too in what significance it has if anyone else has had a similar experience.

It's interesting that the singularity effect often appears to be self-constrained. New technology is being developed faster and faster but no means to sustain such technology exist. For example, flying cars were developed some years back but no road infrastructure exists to sustain them. A 64-bit microprocessor was developed a while back but still no Windows OS exists to make use of its processing power. It's true that technology is accelerating at an exponential rate but the speed at which we are seeing the output effects in actual reality is not congruent with the rate of acceleration. Until we escalate above this apparent lag in my opinion there will not be any absolute point of singularity in the future.

Perhaps very soon we will slow down research speed as has occurred with space exploration and research into life extension. Just because something "can be" researched doesn't seem to merit its research anymore.

Telos, what are the two concepts you mentioned about?

Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / Polyvision
December 17, 2004, 04:26:29
Thanks bmw. I've been experiencing strange phenomena, after looking at the same spot for a while my eyes "zone out". I also mentioned in another thread that if I concentrate on my reflection in the mirror it disappears almost completely, which is quite strange. Polyvision may not be what I'm looking for, but it's the only explanation I came up with.

Hi

Is there any good links about using polyvision to see into other dimensions from the physical that anyone knows of? Can anyone explain how polyvision works?

Thanks

Also, in regard to any books or links that are available on the subject.

I couldn't think of any at first but if you are interested in understanding the mechanics of why people act the way they do it would be beneficial to study spiritual psychology, namely the "Searching Within" course here has been most eye opening for me on this subject.

Also this article and further articles on the same site may be useful.

And lastly it would be beneficial to meditate as it will lead to a greater understanding of yourself and will hopefully provide you with more wisdom to understand and better deal with the actions of other people.

Continue stealing stuff and after a few times you won't feel guilty anymore. Like serial killers who eventually loose all remorse for their victims. If you steal something and don't feel bad about it then who is to say that it is wrong? I am not condoning it and yes it is wrong. But the reason lies in our societal conventions, shaping by modern culture and most importantly our psychology. So we say "would I like this to be done to me?" and surely you would not want someone to steal what is yours so don't do it to others. This is a basic system of attaining a good sense of what is right and wrong without societal prejudices.

Herein lies the key to what you should expect of people. So let's say "I expect someone to be polite to me". Then you notice people are being rude to you. Now, much of the time in their mind they are being polite, it is just their way of talking. Too many times I have gotten offended to later find out 'that's not what someone meant at all'. It is useful to let go of any rigid beliefs or expectations of what other people should be like. Why should we expect someone to do something anyway? If they do not act in a certain way isn't it to their own detriment?

It's important to remember that not everyone is bad. I have often not listened carefully enough to my friends with problems. I have often not acted as I should have to defend my friends and values in particular situations. I have often being impolite and made many mistakes. It is important to let people learn from their mistakes and hopefully they will act more wisely next time. Of course I understand that at the moment the person may appear to be mean or rude. Therefore you could point out their wrongdoing to them, politely. I'm not saying to not to do anything about it, defend what you believe is right by all means. However, don't go overboard. As I said, it is not up to us to dictate how other people should act. Obviously in such situations as you mentioned I would try to fix the wrong done. Take into account that people have a right to act how they wish. In spite of this you can show them how you think they should act.

Quote from: JAWI'm mid 20's now and find myself increasingly frustrated and stressed out due to my own expectations of people, what they should be doing, or how they should be, and I get very riled up when things aren't the way they're supposed to be.

How can you decide what people "should" be doing?

Someone may be equally unhappy with how you are and how you act, and may be feeling the same way. It's important to keep in mind that each person in their own mind thinks they are "right" and their actions are "right". Remember when someone is being rude to you they will not see it that way. If they do, most of the time they will regret their actions straight away or at a later time.

At the start of my philosophical endeavour I had a completely relativistic mindset. This essentially means that no objective reality exists. Which hence means that any idea of "right" or "wrong" is completely subjective or relative. So what is good for someone is bad for someone else. Although I no longer hold this belief system absolutely it is useful to keep it's mechanics in mind as it often applies to life situations. You may see your self as "good" and everyone else as imperfect, but I assure you this is the wrong mindset to have. The reason is that most people feel the same way. Many people have a mindset such as you and it is defiantly hard to break out of. Our general human nature is to see ourselves as right and all else as not quite up to that standard. The only real important advice I can give you is don't judge.

From a more practical position I can say that I can truly relate to what you are saying. But only now that I have read your post I have become really aware of it, because as you said I have "lowered my expectations" of people over time. Because of similar experiences I expect people no longer to do things, and consequently take people less seriously in general. Often I can recall memories that many people do not remember and so they seem to no longer be significant. I ask someone to go to a movie with me repeatedly and they keep forgetting, so eventually I stop asking. I ask someone to do something consistently and they do not do it, so I stop asking. Sometimes I try to go inside their mind and question their actions, other times I can't be bothered and just let it go.

My best explanation for the problems of people acting the way they do is the demands of modern lifestyle. The forceful contempt and ignorance of spirituality has lead to people living their entire lives in a state of overpowering sleep. With a limited awareness of self and surroundings people no longer see the truth or act wisely as they are driven by desire and not will. The ongoing degeneration into materialism would explain why things "aren't going the way they're suppose to be". For things to change as such people must learn to live their lives awake.

Obviously though, the most helpful advice I can give you is to accept people as they are and not to get too frustrated with how they act. Things may not always be right just because you think they are right or wrong. But even so it is not up to you to force people to act in a particular way, the only thing you can do is act how you believe is right and let people follow (they will). Finally, consider how much critism about you exists in other peoples minds. No-one is perfect.

Try cleaning your cache.

In Internet Explorer:

Tools >>> Internet Options >>> Delete Files... (under "Temporary Internet Files")

I had this problem a lot under a slow internet connection, its very annoying.

Good luck.

The file is awesome btw. I had the same effects as The Night Mist except I fell asleep instead of falling off my chair. =P

Yes, it's a good movie and considering the points made above is valuable to watch.

"Time" in my view is a fantastically complex issue. Stephen King's "The Langoliers" is another movie which is quite eye opening on the subject of "time". The complete scope of time is very difficult to get ones mind around taking into consideration all the implications.

Events supposedly take place in the higher planes such as the astral, mental ect before occurring here in the physical. You may make a decision in a higher plane earlier than it manifests in the physical so it would be predetermined to an extent (by your [higher] self). Accordingly events would be predetermined to some extent.

The implications of actually going back in time are unfathomable. Every step you take would have the potential to alter every individual person's reality on the planet upon your return to "present" times. Although it is questionable if such is possible, perhaps this was an OBE that merely mirrored a time travel experience, which would solve the conundrum.

I've had the same thing happen to me a while back. I was looking at someone and an intense purple "cloud" formed around their head then disappeared.

Rastus could you please post the sites you mentioned in this thread?

Rahzul I have had similar occurrences happening lately. Recently my base chakra has been very active. One time focusing on this chakra brought about tiredness which caused me to sleep for more than 15 hours a day for several days. I have also considered that this could be kundalini energy as sometimes it causes sharp pains at the base of the spine. My third eye chakra is also very active during most days. Both of these chakras usually automatically activate as soon as I think about them.

I have heard that as long as the chakras are in balance there is no danger of over energizing them. Seemingly the Kundalini rises only when a certain level of spiritual maturity is attained. I have heard that the force cannot rise barely by energizing the base or crown chakra. However I am not sure how reliable this is.

NEW completely confuses me. For a guide that claims to be simple it is very difficult to understand. Although the fault it on my part to an extent.

However I just want to know how energy is moved. Is it done through visualization?

Thanks
