Interesting reading, Spectraldragon !

For me, (when attempting concious projection) the problems are always related to getting into the "B-type" trance you mention. Once I'm there though, its simple to get to the "c-type" trance.

A couple of questions, if you don't mind...

How do you personally define "background noise", & is it always present for you in the b-type trance ?

In my experience it starts as hearing things e.g. a bang, a pop, a door closing. Then there is a sudden loud rumbling sound like a locomotive.

kind regards,
Mark

I agree with Aileron... We should be actively concerned when individuals display signs that they might be about to bring harm to themselves or others.

Good to see you back here, Goingslow. Hope that you are enjoying your new line of work !

Every now and then, I read comments made within these discussions that appear to come from people suffering from "mental illnesses". Unfortunately, as you know, just saying "mental illness" in this context will probably provoke some readers - simply because it is a dirty phrase. People suffering from mental illness are often victims of prejudice.

As James has said, this is a grey area. Indeed, his comment, :
quote:
I have recently been learning more of the spirit world through direct contact with its inhabitants.

....might be just enough to persuade some psychiatrists that he is in need of medication ! [:)]

Most astralpulse members, including myself, are already well within this grey area. Is it because we are insane ? Or because we believe in things that go against the status quo ?

* even that last comment came out with a conspiratorial tone to it, hee hee. I didn't mean it like that, honest !

Welcome to Dreams! / Dreams = OBE?
September 11, 2004, 08:40:38
Hi beavis, I don't disagree with what you're saying, I guess my opinion differs in that I don't believe that the "neurons firing" means that the brain is creating the dream. Though I've got no evidence to support this (!), I believe these neurons are definitely involved in the act of perception of the non-physical, but the items within our dreams could be either a) objects in the astral realms (objective) or b) creations of our own minds (subjective). Our minds, being completely seperate non-physical entities, create dreamscapes, in part and often as a whole. I think that the brain is involved in interpreting and perceiving, what our minds (our non-physical part) have created.

Sorry about the bad grammar, hope you get the gist of what I'm saying !

Welcome to Dreams! / Dreams = OBE?
September 09, 2004, 23:09:03
Hi gemma, I believe that dreams = OBEs.

Imagine a spectrum of conciousness, like.... lets say a rainbow. Both the dreams & the OBEs are different colours on this rainbow. The different colours are synonomous with our levels of awareness / conciousness. Lets say that a dream = "red" on our imaginary spectrum. The red colour, at the uppermost part of the rainbow, indicates relatively little awareness. During a dream, we often feel like we are acting out a pre-ordained path. Sometimes we feel we are in control, yet when we look back on the dream, our actions make no sense !

Lets say that an OBE is the green colour, further into the centre of the rainbow. Here we have 100% full awareness, normally accompanied by most of our faculties (sight, touch, hearing). We are in control of our actions just as within the real world. In fact, it is impossible to distinguish between the reality of this experience, and our physical reality.

Lucid dreaming is part of the spectrum too....more than a dream, but not quite an OBE. Imagine it as the yellow colour, in between red and green. During a lucid dream your awareness is heightened. Although you are fully in control during a lucid dream, & very nearly fully aware, there is one major difference : you KNOW that you are in a lucid dream. You do not experience the sense of knowing that you are out of your body, in a whole new reality.

Just as these colours are part of a rainbow, dreams/ lucid dreams/ OBEs are aspects of the same thing....so IMO you are "out of your body" when you dream.

As the mind affects the environment we perceive whilst being in this "out of body" state, this could be interpreted as "hallucinating". Alternatively it could be viewed as creating your own reality. Some of the environment we perceive whilst out of body may be independent of our own mind, but it is likely that for beginners like me, the majority of my perceptions will be generated by my mind. As thought = action within astral realms, the way to truely perceive the astral, is to calm the mind to an extent that the "hallucinations" fall away.

quote:
If you're out of body when you dream, then how come we don't recall the exit and re-entry when we recall our dreams?

Simply because our level of awareness is usually not static during these experiences. As OBE, lucid dreaming and dreams are aspects of the same thing, our wandering minds will drift between them ( though I might add, normally we find ourselves drifting between lucid & regular dreams). Every now and then, something does happen in our minds whilst sleeping that is akin to a tv channel being changed : suddenly, we find ourselves OBE. Why this happens, I haven't got a clue ! But when it occurs we don't recall our exits and enries, IF they happen at all in the first place.....

Hope my opinions have given you a little food for thought, gemma !

These Betagen brainwave programs, are they any good?
Do they work?

Some called Guaranteed Astral Projection.

I have had lots of practice with "Gateway wave 1" . I purchased the CDs after reading that several members on the astralpulse had managed successful concious exits whilst using them. This was a good 2 years ago now, maybe even further back. I remember Frank outlined in great detail how he went about using the wave 1 CD, this detail was much appreciated by me ! ...The guidelines that came with the actual CD were sparse.

I haven't used these CDs in a while, though I'm about to embark on a more concerted effort in the near future. I must have listened to Monroe's monologue 2 or 300 times over a 9 to 12 month period, at varying times of the day and night. I noticed that more than 80% of the time, I would either fall asleep, or give up because something was "not right" e.g. I would be disturbed during the exercise, or my mind kept wandering. Approx 15% of the time I would notice strange things happening...sensations of moving in space, hearing sounds, seeing vague patterns and hypnogogic imagery. This was fun in itself & kept me inspired to continue using the CD.

Maybe 2% of the time, I would have an "OBE"...always ending up in an astral plane, never in the RTZ (real time zone). Usually, I would lose conciousness then regain it, somewhere in the astral. On only 2 occasions did I manage to conciously phase into the astral. Both were brief, but fantastically exciting; I had projected involuntarily several times before during my lifetime,  but now I had confirmed to myself that "OBE" was possible through my own intent.

A couple of points :
1) generally speaking, you can't just turn on the CD, stick the headphones on and wait for a projection. The sounds are, if you like, helping you to create an environment that is conducive to OBE. They may actually be adjusting frequencies within your mind / brain that will help you project, but this is debatable. At the end of the day, CD or no CD, YOU are the one who has to exercise his mind in order to project.

2) the gateway CD was extremely expensive; I think I paid $100 for a 3cd set ! (those were the days, when I had money to burn !) However, I hear rumours that these kind of things can be procured for "free" via certain file-sharing sites. Not that I'm advocating that, of course...

Andrew, I'd give them a go. Its one of many techniques that is known to work. Remember though that different techniques seem to work for different people, so I wouldn't use it exclusively.

Kind regards,
Mark

Its a good film, I really enjoyed it....a few scary parts too, which I always appreciate.

....and afterwards, if you're as childish as me, you'll be teasing your other half with comments like "you're wearing the bad colour!"

(the movie explains all)

Back to the original post...Varner-LaPrade, did you mispell "Brian" ?!

I think people are aggressive towards conspiracy theories for many reasons...not least because they upset the status-quo. Its probably valid to get aggressive about this kind of "conspiracy" theory though, because its so easy to disprove. All the authors did was pick and choose what they wanted to show...conveniently leaving out the evidence that showed it was a 757. Even going so far as saying no such evidence exists !

Whilst one internet search can turn out a conspiracy like the one at the head of this thread, another google search can just as easily reveal the flip side of the coin.

Welcome to Magic! / Magic Discussion Group
September 06, 2004, 04:21:42
I was wondering if anyone else here is engaged in working through Franz Bardon's "Initiation into Hermetics" ? Or perhaps there are astralpulse members who have completed this work.

I only started a month ago, & I am still practising the 3 thought control exercises at the beginning of step 1. I can honestly say that these exercises alone have given me a lot of food for thought ... I am looking forward to progressing through the coming exercises.

After reading through many of the practical exercises, I recognised many of them immediately. Take for example, Monroe's Wave 1 Gateway exercise. The initial breathing exercise is the same, though the intention differs slightly from Bardon's "Magical breathing". Another example that springs to mind is Bardon's Soul mirrors. The exercise requires one to ruthlessly identify every positive and negative facet of the personality. This compares with Rick Stack's instructions within "How to acheive an OBE in 30 days", and also Castaneda's description of contemplating one's own life experiences.

I guess that I'm slowly realising that the "magic" we refer to with different names, techniques, etc. is one whole, with varying interpretations.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / the aeon of lucifer
September 06, 2004, 03:01:18
Hi there Aryanknight666, I think that people might be perceiving your posts on satanism as....how can I put it...the inverse of "bible-bashing" ?!

Believe me, you only have to look through the christian forums within the religious sections to see the "form-book" ... when an Astralpulse member is perceived to cross the line between talking about their religion, and preaching, they aren't looked on too fondly by the masses.

Anyway, steering this back towards spiritual development, I don't believe that "satanism" has anything to offer over-and-above that which an individual could grasp through his own personal development. I also have to take issue with it being referred to as a religion !!

kind regards,
Mark

Great website !!

It seems odd that a passenger jet would tear through 3 sections so neatly. I'd guess that it would crumple on impact.

But then again, I'm a sucker for conspiracy theories...I've stood by them in the past & been proven wrong. So, I take anything like this with a pinch of salt.

Having said that, the US govt would never admit that a fighter jet (possibly even a stolen jet) was flown into the pentagon....

Mikel, this is the 2nd time in this thread that you have claimed Jenadots has called everyone "stupid". However, her posts don't say anything of the sort ! I'm sorry that you have got this impression.

In fact, she makes an important point - we do not really know who we are communicating with over the internet, which makes it fun, but also dangerous at the same time.

Both you and Jenadots are entitled to agree or disagree with anyone on the astralpulse - I only ask that you do so in a respectful manner.

Hope this has answered your query,
kind regards,

Hi there Jason ! As you can see I moved your post to the "intro" forum, hope you don't mind.

Anyway, welcome to the astralpulse. I'm sure you'll have fun searching through all the info here & meeting some great folks along the way.

Keep at it, regarding the practise... It might take some time, but its worth it ! In my experience the key part is to get relaxed...get to that area just between being "awake" and "asleep", and try to stay there. Whilst others have found that the NEW energy system is the key Again, this system requires plenty of dedication.

Hi Michael, welcome to the forum !

Whilst I'm not familiar with the zeta literature, I'm sure your post will interest many on the astralpulse. Perhaps you would be kind enough to copy this post into the forum "members book reviews" aswell, for reference ? Whilst at the same time, keeping this post in "communications" section for discussions etc.

Kind regards,

I tried it yesterday but with no luck. To be fair though, I was fully awake at the time, & could

Will give it another go, though...

The reason for the increased dream recollection is enhanced concentration and the resulting reduciton in unnecessary dreck in our minds. That leaves more room for the interesting bits.

Reminds me of Franz Bardon's comments on mastery of thoughts from Initiation into Hermetics :

"Above all you must become accustomed to performing all tasks with complete awareness, whether it be in your profession or in your private life, regardless of whether you are dealing with something major or not. This exercise has to be practised for the rest of your life, as it hones the spirit and strengthens the conciousness and memory."

I can see that "living in the now" shares aspects of "performing all tasks with complete awareness".

wow...I've never read an account of sleep paralysis serious enough to disrupt your everyday life ! I'm afraid that I've got nothing to offer in terms of help, as the standard "wiggle your big toe" has always worked for me in the past. Perhaps some others might have some remedies ?
