K but what if one has trouble relaxing does that mean they cant project? (possibly because of a fast heart rate)
it's much more difficult to project with a faster heart rate unless you're over-tired.

i've experienced the same thing many times, and it's common with astral projection.  sylvan muldoon mentions it quite a bit in his book: 'the projection of the astral body' by sylvan muldoon.

So, has anyone seen anything like what's pictured below while astral projecting? (artist's conception)
The picture's kind of big and I do not have the original here so have a thumbnail. These things are slightly longer than a tall man's arm though significantly thicker. If you see one, try talking to it -- see what it has to say.
rats and snakes are much prettier.  have you possibly considered meditating on rats and snakes instead of summoning giant worms?  they may be more pleasant.

There is a lot of False information and services out there. I still haven't figured out a way to separate them.
I was wondering what you think about this guy, Evernewjoy.net

Thanks
i believe that just about everyone would be healed of their afflictions if they removed themselves from society.  my main obstacle is real estate ownership.  it'd be difficult for this guy to heal other people if they still remain in a corrupt society that produces illness.

Any tips for how to hold on to minimal consciousness required for OOBE without succumbing to sleep?
you have to cause your psyche to be awake while your body is fully asleep.  in astral projection, the body (as opposed to the psyche) must fall right below the sleep threshold versus remaining right above the sleep threshold.  it's essentially the opposite of meditation where a person tries to stay physically awake while relaxing the psyche.

sleep deprivation and/or fasting may be the most effective method to get your psyche into a wake-dreaming state (ideally coupled with sensory deprivation for amplification purposes), afterwhich the body will eventually fall into a very deep sleep.  it's okay to physically fall asleep if your psyche remains very active.  you want your psyche as active as possible with your body as passive as possible.  again, it's the exact opposite of meditation where people try to relax the psyche but stay physically awake.

I never connected sleep paralysis with astral projection at all, actually. It's always been a totally random event for me, never connected with any of my conscious astral projection attempts. In fact, I think it started before I'd started reading about astral projection. I've known people who've experienced sleep paralysis and have never heard of AP. I did a little online research, and it seems like nearly every culture in the world has its own name and folk legends associated with sleep paralysis, while I think it's safe to assume that astral projection isn't quite as well known among the masses (at least, that's what I judge from personal experience). One thing I have noticed is that I only experience this when I'm sleeping on my back. I suppose I could stop it on my own by switching to my side, but I find sleeping on my side rather uncomfortable, so I was looking for alternative solutions.

What little experience I do have with astral projection is rather limited, though. I have, on a handful of occasions, while following the basic tips of lying on one's back, relaxing completely, focusing inward, etc, entered the vibrational phase. However, it took what felt like over an hour's worth of concentration to achieve this, so much that I thought to myself "Well, I've proved that I can get this far, but I'm tired, so this is as far as I'll go tonight." Of course, I could kick myself now for not taking the opportunity to go further. :P It can also be somewhat discouraging for me, since I can't count how many times I've tried astral projecting that way, only to end with me falling asleep, exhausted, due to trying not to move in spite of being hyper-aware of everything in my concentration to stay awake.

I do admit, though, that I have a certain fear of the unknown which could further hinder my attempts. I once entered the mind awake/body asleep faze totally by accident during a nap in the middle of the day (funny how I got the furthest I've ever been without really trying)! I had my right arm covering my eyes, with the bridge of my nose nestled in the crook of my elbow, which probably sounds bizarre, but it's just another way that I block out light so I can sleep. A tiny speck of light was visible though, through a small gap between my inner elbow and my nose, and I distinctly remember watching it as I felt myself slowly rising up out of my body, through my own arm! It was really weird. I didn't feel any vibrations at all this time. I was excited and really wanted to totally leave my body, but I heard weird sounds and noises that scared me, so back I went. :|

Erm, I'm afraid I might have strayed a bit off topic, but I hope this helps give you a good idea of my background in the subject.
:-) i still experience sleep paralysis from time to time during my astral projections, but it's not something that i really fear anymore.  think of it this way.  the physical body has to go into a state of sleep paralysis before we can astral project.  we can't very well be out-of-body and moving around in-the-body at the same time, although we may still experience dual sensation at times if the energy body is still half-way in the physical body.  it sounds to me like you will have to combat your fear of sleep paralysis as opposed to the sleep paralysis itself, if you still wish to astral project.

so again, i might ask you to determine for yourself if you still want to pursue astral projection, even if it means continuing to experience sleep paralysis.

by the way, the people who haven't heard of astral projection, but who still experience sleep paralysis, are likely astral projecting without identifying and/or remembering it.

Well, both, if possible. It's quite unpleasant, and I can't see anything very productive in letting them continue.
1. sleep paralysis is a natural part of astral projection.  the only way to avoid it would be to avoid astral projection also, if that's what makes you feel the most comfortable.  however, if you prefer to pursue astral projection, you will then have to combat the fear involved with sleep paralysis instead of sleep paralysis itself.  this is entirely up to you, and it's not my place to persuade or dissuade you.

2. unwelcome entities can be avoided by staying away from mystical experience altogother, or if one wishes to pursue mystical experience, purification of the psyche is then necessary to attain higher dimensional frequencies, wherein one will not be subject to nightmare-type mystical experiences or exposure to invasive lower entities.  this involves cleansing of the psyche in the sub-realms of thought, emotion and conscience.

i'm being a bit general.  does this make sense so far?  please feel free to ask more specific questions.  are we headed in the right direction?  is astral projection something that you really want to do?  or do you prefer to avoid it altogether?

what specifically are you trying to reduce?  sleep paralysis or little animals walking on you?  and why?

Quote from: ashriee on November 17, 2008, 19:02:56I have a question. When travelling in the astral planes, I know you can meet other people also travelling, but can you see and interact with other living beings that aren't travelling? I wouldn't think that they could see you because you aren't really there.
not generally, in my personal experience.  i've had about 2000 projections.  the dimensions exist on different frequencies, and the individuals would have to be particularly sensitive to see you and vice versa.  and if you did perceive each other, you wouldn't likely be perceiving physical bodies themselves.

QuoteBut, say, if you were to travel to your classroom could you watch your classmates and learn while you're there? or would you walk into a deserted classroom?
you wouldn't even see the classroom itself.  i've instead seen entire alternate reality panoramas that don't remotely resemble the physical plane in many instances.  occasionally the psyche of the astral projectionist may generate an illusionary hologram resembling the physical plane, but it's not necessarily the real thing.

Thanks for the help!
i attempt to embrace the good in all religions, although rejecting the violent aspects which are merely created by humanity.  therefore, i don't feel any express need to classify myself, even though others may wish to classify me.  the same is true of political party affiliations.  i'm not strictly one thing or another, and that will frustrate some people who demand that i be classified.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: Blankets!
November 17, 2008, 09:02:14
Quote from: Shin on November 17, 2008, 07:51:37
Once again a weird question x) If I'm lying in bed, covered by a blanket: Is it harder to induce an OBE that way?
whatever temperature is the most pleasurable will relax your body the most, whether hot or cold.  during a hot summer, an air conditioner might be preferred if it makes you feel the most pleasurable.  during a cold winter, a heater and/or blanket may be more suitable, if indeed it makes you more pleasurable and therefore more relaxed.

with all of this said, this still may only be effective after some degree of sleep deprivation and/or fasting.  it's a bit of a trick to get oneself into a lucid trance state, and may take years of regular training to induce anything beyond a projection which lasts only a few seconds.

QuoteAnd what if I only cover my feet?
one helpful method that i've used is heating the lower half of my body with an electric blanket, while simultaneously cooling the upper half of my body with an air conditioner.  it seems to do something with the blood flow, generating a lot of inner physical activity during the sleep state.  thus the body becomes rather alert, even though it's asleep.

in the end, do whatever makes you feel the most pleasurable in regards to temperature, insofar as this will relax your heart rate more optimally, so as to induce the deepest possible sleep state.

QuoteAnother question: Is it easier to get out if I have my eyes opened or closed?
closed is generally best.  sensory deprivation will put you into a potentially deeper state of trance and/or sleep.  environmental sights and sounds may merely wake you up.

- with all of this said, my suggestions will only apply 90% of the time, and reverse conditions may actually apply in rarer circumstances.  there are multiple complex factors to consider.  the trick is to become mentally alert while physically asleep.

1 - Have you ever encountered more evolved beings?
- a: yes, some more evolved and some less evolved.

1.1 - If so, describe the place:
- typically in my bedroom while out-of-body or otherwise astrally aware.

what were they like:
- one being was semi-angelic in form with glorious countenance, many beings seemed like average humans assembled in large groups, other beings appeared alien with advanced IQs, and a few beings seemed half-human and half-beast.

what have you learned from them:
- I learned that many of them are just as ignorant as we are, while others are more enlightened.  Some are benevolent with words of encouragement concerning health, while others are hostile and demented.

2 - What have you found out about life on other planets?
- a: I believe that planets are multi-dimensional in nature, and that multiple physical dimensions exists along various energy frequencies upon our own planet earth.  matter is ultimately composed of energy, just as energy particles are composed of very fine physical matter.

3 - What was the most interesting conversation you had?
- my mother came to me for help about a month after she was deceased from cancer.

What did you ask/say and hear?
- a: about a month after her physical death, my deceased mother told me that she was being indwelt with lower frequency entities.  i explained to her that she should take my hand and i would direct my life-force energies into her astral form.  i explained to her that the energy would feel hot like fire but not as severe as fire, and that the lower frequency entities that were indwelling her would be more sensitive to the pain of the fire than she was herself, and would thereby drop off.  as i released the energy into her that she perceived as fiery, she asked how long that she should hold on to my hand, because it was burning her.  i told her to simply hold on until it would reach the limits of her toleration levels.  the invading entities which were indwelling her eventually dropped away from her, and she was able to ascend to a higher frequency in a context of purification which i had newly sensed in her.

4 -  Describe 3 things/creatures that you saw there, but never saw here:
- one entity looked like an angel without wings, a white male about seven feet tall with curly blond hair and extremely toned muscular condition with no body fat, wearing a white robe and exuding an aura of white light with a gentle and unthreatening countenance. another entity was cloaked in a dark robe and hood, so as not to startle me with it's foreign appearance. and another entity seemed half-human and half-lion.

5 - If you've been able to read, what did you read about? How many consecutive words do you remember?
- a: i have vague memories of reading foreign texts, but their interpretations would slip from my memory upon awakening.

5.1 - Have you read words you haven't seen here before?
- a: yes, but i would forget their meanings afterwards.

6 - Ever learned special tricks to be used there?
- a: once i levitationally spun in place like a top with my energy body at a hundred miles per hour without getting remotely dizzy.

7 - Ever received a solution to a problem?
- a: yes, i encountered my deceased mother at least a dozen times to see how she was doing.

8 - Describe the most amazing thing you saw:
- (as above) one entity looked like an angel without wings, a white male about seven feet tall with curly blond hair and extremely toned muscular condition with no body fat, wearing a white robe and exuding an aura of white light with a gentle and unthreatening countenance.

9 - Describe the most amazing thing you did:
- (as above) about a month after her physical death, my deceased mother told me that she was being indwelt with lower frequency entities.  i explained to her that she should take my hand and i would direct my life-force energies into her astral form.  i explained to her that the energy would feel hot like fire but not as severe as fire, and that the lower frequency entities that were indwelling her would be more sensitive to the pain of the fire than she was herself, and would thereby drop off.  as i released the energy into her that she perceived as fiery, she asked how long that she should hold on to my hand, because it was burning her.  i told her to simply hold on until it would reach the limits of her toleration levels.  the invading entities which were indwelling her eventually dropped away from her, and she was able to ascend to a higher frequency in a context of purification which i had newly sensed in her.

10 - Describe your most amazing validation:
- i learned the strategic methods regarding how the energy body becomes physically materialized, although i still require the discipline to perform it.

11 - Ever had your astral body malformed or defective?
- yes, in the context of identity distortion, but i've since corrected this.

What was it like?
- a: the energy body appeared in a degenerate state when operating along lower energy frequencies, as if it were extremely aged, but i've since corrected the issue through purification methods.

13 - Describe the 3 strangest sentences you heard:
- i was greeted by an intercessor for my mother who was requesting me to become reconciled to my brother.  i was called a messenger possessing the path regarding the re-acquisition of physical immortality for the human species.  i don't recall the exact wording at this late date.

14 - Describe 3 things that you still want to try in the astral:
- i wish to physically materialize the energy body within the waking state, purify myself enough to dimensionally ascend to the higher frequency planes, and merge the physical and astral dimensions within a ten foot proximity of my physical body.

12 - What interesting things have you found out about the Universe?
- a: that the metaverse is infinitely eternal and eternally infinite on both macroscopic and microscopic levels.  the metaverse is composed of infinite universes which may be likened to an infinite number of rooms within a very large house.

15 - If you believe in a God, what clues have you gotten about it's existence?
- a: Godhood has traditionally been defined in a myriad of ways, but it seems logical that only consciousness can create consciousness.

16 - Ever been lectured on the process of Creation?
- a: not a lecture precisely, but i've developed various beliefs (although not in the direct context of astral experiences) about the origin and evolution of the human species.

Levitational Guidance of my Energy Body from Astral Entities:

One time at the age of 15 (roughly in the year of 1983), when my energy body was already spontaneously separated from my physical body, I astrally awakened to find myself levitating above my bed, aimlessly out of control, much like an astronaut floating around in space or in a simulated NASA weightlessness environment might feel.  The astral planes seem to have different gravity environments as otherwise compared to our material plane in this context.

Suddenly, a series of gentle hands from perhaps a half dozen invisible entities steadied my torso and limbs.  They were guiding me how to levitationally balance with purposeful direction, instead of simply allowing me to float wildly out of control.  I didn't feel threatened by this outside intervention, but instead felt like I literally had guiding hands made available to me.  I reasoned that if outside entities were willing to lend assistance in my astral endeavors, then the experiences must have some inherent value that I was not fully aware of.  I became pleasantly excited that my pursuit of astral consciousness was progressing in a greater universal context.

I had a Q about heart beats.

Before one tries to AP does it matter how fast ones heart is beating beforehand?
accelerated heart beats prior to an astral projection may cause a person to physically awaken.  if the quickened heart beat causes you to physically awaken, then it can be a problem.  just my personal experience.  a slower heart rate allows for a deeper trance.

hello, i'm new.

i've been engaging in astral projection for about 25 years now, with maybe 2000 out-of-body experiences, from age 15 to 40.

i originally learned about astral projection through Sylvan Muldoon's book: The Projection of the Astral Body.

thanks for having me.
