I like to think of science and the supernatural as the same thing. The supernatural is simply unexplained science or vice versa, science being observable supernatural. :)

People will have differencing opinion and maybe they will not agree with you, as for me, your theory is just as valid as any other.

kidvisions, Welcome! It's always nice to see new people here.

I started experimenting with Astral Projection and energy work about 2 months ago for many of the same reasons you did.

I am on my 4th OBE book and I must say that the more read the more I want to read more. "Ultimate Journey" is a great book as Stookie mentions, it was the first book that I read.

I have recently bought a video on saltcube.com called "How to Lucid Dream". This is a very good video that will walk you through the process and it's only 19 dollars. It's worth it.

Just thought I would share some info with you and good luck!

Best Regards

David

I would define the only difference as being your state of awareness.

Every time I have projected or was very close to it I get the color effect. Basically it resembles the colors that appear on an old TV if you stick a magnet on it, the colors start out by covering my complete field of vision and then move inward to single point, disappear and then repeats.

I would say to observe and be aware of anything "out of the norm".

Well it should be pretty easy to test once I become proficient enough. I will make entering a blackhole in the Astral Planes one of my new goals and will update everyone once I figure it out.

QuoteI do not remember where I read it, but I have heard that sometimes we can project without knowing and something that can happen is that we think we are not breathing because we have projected unknowingly and the astral counterpart does not breath. Not sure of the validity of this argument though.

I have seen it in the Monroe books and in the saltcube videos. Next time I will just go with it and see what happens.

Congrats on your success, and I think that once you have your first OBE there's no turning back :)

QuoteHahaha i just had one question is there an easy way to go through walls because bugger me if i could get through any lol   i read about willing it to happen works?!?! maybe i just wasnt strong willed enough

I have read several books now and I would say that walking through walls depends on what type of environment you are in. You need to know if the wall is just some wall that you created for yourself or is the wall part of some consensus dimension that you phased into.

I guess it all depends. Experiment and have fun :)

First of all, I just had my wisdom teeth all pulled out at once 3 days ago and I am completely drugged up, so if this post makes no sense, you will understand why.

I have been having issues with "stopping breathing" when falling asleep for over 10 years now so I may be able to share some valuable insight.

I still remember the first time this happened to me, I was living in the woods of Chickamauga GA, about 5 miles southwest of battlefield. Chickamauga is a Cherokee word meaning "river of death" and the bloodiest two-day battle of the Civil War was fought at Chickamauga on September 19th and 20th, 1863. More than 35,000 men were killed, wounded or missing out of 120,000 who engaged in the battle.

I had laid down to sleep and just as I drifted into sleep I got the sensation that I had died (stopped breathing). My brain not fully comprehending what was going on panicked and I ended up jumping out of bed and running out into my front yard at like 12 AM where I ended up standing alone in the dark trying to catch my breath.

This has been a common theme in my life ever since that day some 10 years ago. I have no idea what triggered these events to start happening but I do suspect that if they were linked to some serious illness I would most likely be dead by now.

So what are these events? Why can't the plethora of doctors I have paid figure out what's going on? These are questions that I can't answer. I participated in two sleep studies and was told I have sleep apnea however when I wear the CPAP I still experience the exact same symptoms. I tried to explain what was going on to the doctor but he / she didn't get it.

When I have my episodes (which happen about 5 days a week), I get really relaxed and can feel myself fading off into a dream state. I usually take note of the time that I drift off because I have a nice bright digital clock right beside me. Right after I drift to slep, what seems like 1 second later, I jump up in a panic and have to tell myself to breathe. My heart is usually beating like 180 BPM and it normally takes me about a full minute to get my mind and my lungs in sync and for my heart rate to slow. This happens while falling asleep only and it can repeat itself several times in a row.

The left side of my brain has tried to make sense of these events for years but I have have no explanation.  Here lately I have started thinking that maybe I am actually having short OBEs and I am actually noticing my astral body not breathing and not my physical body. I just don't know.

I think it's worth 19 dollars :). There is very valuable information there that may help you. I will make sure to write about my experiences here on this forum and on my blog.

Let me know how it goes if you decide to buy it.

I will watch the second part of the DVD and let you know. Based on what I saw on the first video I was able to learn several things that I did not find on this forum. although this is a big forum though and I may have missed things.

The nice thing about these videos is how professionally Matt presents the information with all of the illustrations.

Hi MinstruelZ,

Well, I bought it and have only had one chance to try it so far. I was using the resist the urge to roll over or move your eyes technique around 12:30 PM and I entered vibrational state. I was not able to go any further because I was taking a nap with my 3 year old and she was rolling around :).

I will let you know how it goes. I have created a timer with Audacity where I overlayed a timer over Hemi-Sync Condition C. The track is 2 hours long and I have not tried it yet.

Hi roygbiv,

If you are seeing through your eyelids you have already projected. You just need to will yourself away from your body. Just feel yourself rolling or floating out.

I went ahead and ordered saltcube. It was only $19. I am sure I will learn something from it and will let folks know how well the techniques work.
#215
Practice and persistence.

One technique is to hold your arm up while laying down to sleep and every time you drift off your arm will fall and wake you up. There are also audio tracks available that will wake you up every 20 minutes or so.

Let me know if you need more info.

atraveler,

How are you progressing with the saltcube DVD?

Actually I have found that if I focus on anything exclusively, I can reach out of body state.

Quotewhat would happen if you went into a black whole while astral projecting in space?

I think that Lighten is correct partially. I don't think you would be sucked into to it never to escape but you should pick up the book "Adventures Beyond the Body". I assumed after reading this book that he must either be a physicist or have a very strong interest in the subject. He actually goes into explaining what he thinks blackholes actually are. He claims that they are energy conduits for the astral plans which help to move energy around to different places within the astral planes.

I am not even going to get into the details here because he fills up like 100 pages in his book about this. I suggest you buy and read this book if you are interested in knowing more.

Regarding blackholes being a physical thing, I don't think that even the top physicist have a good understanding of what a blackhole really is at this point much less whether or not they are physical things. This is definitely a question into the unknown.

QuoteI start trying to project, and I relax my body.  my mind thinks as much as possible right then.  is there any way around this?

Practice.

Quoteif I can get past that, I feel rocking in a hammock, which leads to seeing it, then i think.  if I feel my bed rising up from the feet, i think about it...

I know this sounds odd but don't think about what's happening, just observe it (which is thought). Meaning don't have any thoughts that create a reference point back to physical. That's what I try to do and sometimes I hit and sometimes I miss. It's basically practice and trial and error.

QuoteAn interesting part in Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce explains how one of his friends being blind, describes the ability to sense the astral environment with tactile feeling that even extended to the  horizon and in 360 degrees.

I think I might read Astral Dynamics to get a different perspective astral projection. I have been reading Robert Monroe's books in reverse. I started off by reading "Ultimate Journey" and then I read "Adventures Beyond the Body" by William Buhlman to pick up some good techniques. I then read "Far Journeys" by Robert Monroe.

I had planned on reading Monroe's first book next because I really like Monroe's writing style however after seeing Robert Bruce being mentioned here so many times, I may read it next. It's always interesting to see how differently people view things, but at the same time enjoying the challenge of pulling out the similarities.

What are some of the highlights of Astral Dynamics in reference to people at a disadvantage?

Since we are being honest, I think reaching success, OBE related or not, all depends on your attitude. You can't lie to yourself either, if you think you will succeed you will, if you don't think you will succeed you won't. It's that simple.

Go to bed knowing with 100% certainty that you will have an OBE and you will. It's that slightest doubt to holds you back, and I am guilty as charged.

I am simply saying that a total absence of movement, sight and hearing may amplify the urgency to be more than just body. I am not really calling the ability to project a six sense :), but for someone who has no sight or hearing it might be better than a total void of anything except for touch and taste.

One of the keys to meditation or astral projection is to clear your mind of thoughts, whether these thoughts be stored in memory as auditory or vision, for someone with neither it seems it would be easier to control and clear thoughts. This would be an advantage I would think.

I will give you an example. When I project, right before I leave my body I notice colors moving around in the blackness behind my eyelids. This is always a trigger for me to get prepared to exit. I never noticed this before because it was so subtle. Now for a blind person would it be so subtle, I seem to think no, but then again I may be wrong, maybe they don't notice colors at all. Maybe there's not colors for people who are blind?

Another interesting point is that I firmly believe in the existence of "past lives" (you may not, so this may be pointless). Someone might respond to me with something like, "Blind people would not see colors because they have never experienced colors". Then I can't help but start thinking that who we are at the present is directly linked to who we have been in the past and who we will be in the future, existing outside of time and space. This would be our collective consciousness which is much more than just our physical life / soul in the present. This consciousness can literally contain billions of separate souls.

Ultimately these things will remain unknown until a blind and deaf person or someone with a similar disadvantage responds to my post here :). I do think that astral projection could be a great thing for people with these disabilities.

As far as intelligence not being linked to astral projection, I have no idea.

Best Regards

David

Quotejust a note. You probably projected because you were taking a nap in the afternoon. for some people it works much better in the afternoon because they are to tired at night. So if you want to repeat the results you might want to try at a similar time.

I think there is a lot of truth to this simply because I am always able to project early in the morning after sleep and always fall asleep at night. I think that through experience and energy work, I will be able to do it at night.

I have also been doing some reiki work and will soon start kundalini yoga which should help greatly. I think the results are directly proportional to how much effort and dedication you apply.

Practice makes perfect.

QuoteHave you had OOBE both with and without using the binaural beat cds? Just courious because I have been thinking about using them.

Yes, I think the first 3 I had I was using nothing. Some people may disagree with this, but I have experienced a permanent change while listening to beats, and not just in the realm of astral projection. I started listening to Brainsync tracks such as "High Focus", "Brain Power" and "Super Learning" in 2007 and have seen drastic permanent changes in my ability to think. I am super focused (even with migraines) and am able to score 120s - 140s on IQ tests (148 best) depending on what day I take it. I have no doubt that this number will be bigger with time.

In conclusion, there is much more to these tracks than what you might expect and I have noticed permanent changes in my mental capacity, even after not using them for a while. I would say go for it and look at it like training wheels on a bike, you eventually learn to ride that bike without training wheels.

I thought the same thing when I started using beats for astral projection, so you are not alone.

Best Regards
