[But first let me say that I am not talking about day to day karma.]

For me, there is no question. I do not buy it. So what prompted this topic?

Karma as most people think of it, yes, I agree completely, I also do not buy it.

But first let me say that I am not talking about day to day karma. Sure that is real, as in actions have consequences. What you do in this life (here and now) most certainly carries weight, consequences (karma) that can and will affect not only your life but those around you.

We see this on a daily basis... someone does something bad and they have to carry that with them throughout the rest of their lives.  That's what I call the individual-level karma.

What is in question is cosmic karma that carries down through the ages. That whole concept makes zero sense to me. This karma (theory) hinges on a belief in re-incarnation. The point of reincarnation it seems is to clear our karma and karma hinges itself to that very thought.

This is what I call the consciousness-level karma.  I spoke about this in my post the other day about "Why Love? Love vs Fear".  I've also spoken about this before regarding the "bathtub theory of reincarnation" I have.  I feel that the karma we have earned at the end of our life, goes back to the consciousness system and either increases or decreases the karmic level of us as a whole.

Consciousness (the One) either reduces its entropy - or increases its entropy by whatever TEENY TINY little bit our bit of awareness allows it to.  What the end goal of this is, is anyone's guess. 

I see this as a flawed theory. For if we have to spend each consecutive lifetime correcting our flaws of the past we will surely never be free. And, I see this as the trap and the reason for this idea that we live on a prison planet.

Yes, and I completely agree.  It's the flaw I see as well in it, and it also entirely depends upon the suggestion that our individual awareness units actually do continue on in some manner - this is also something I don't really believe happens.

That's my thoughts in a nutshell. I understand I am going against centuries worth of dogma. Many lifetimes have been devoted to this very subject and it makes me weary of approaching this subject even now but I feel it is time to break another link in the chain.

Sometimes it takes just ONE person thinking outside of the dogmatic box for wholesome change to begin. 

I see. Does this mean the forum might have a new name as well?

Oh, no.  Definitely not.  I'm keeping things just the way they've been.

I was thinking of just putting a redirect in there pointing to the forums.
I did have it doing that for a few minutes, it worked fine for PC browsers, but my Chrome browser on my phone didn't like it, saying it was being redirected too many times for some reason.  So I removed it for now.

Well, ones like rolling over, climbing a rope, the feather one, imaging a vista to walk into. All require sustained concentration.

Those are all "visualization" related focuses.
They're good if you're a visual person and have little problems visualizing and engaging your senses within that visualization.

Other focuses can include:

Your breath.
A sound in the room - like a ceiling fan.
Even a sensation on your physical body - I like to use my third eye and focus on the pressure between my brows.

There's a post around here somewhere listing 1000 different methods - which is essentially a list of 1000 different focuses you can use. 

It's all about finding that right focus which works for you.

Thanks but I tried all the others also, and they were even harder to focus on. The Noticing one is the simplest, in theory, so I will just persevere with it. Maybe the more I try it, my brain will adjust to it in someway and make it less difficult going forward. 

*ALL* of them?  There are, literally, an infinite number of focuses you can choose from. 

I'm new to astral travelling experiences. I've read some of Frank Kepple's writings and am half-way through Robert Bruce's book Astral Dynamics, which is needlessly complicated and verbose. I'm thinking of not reading the rest of it.

I am finding it hard to "phase" using "noticing". I either fall asleep while doing it or lose concentration and allow distracting thoughts to prevent me focusing on the lights and shapes I see. Very frustrating.

Last night, I did begin to "enter" a sort of 3D blackness, or rather, the lights and shapes vanished to be replaced by a very dark uniform grey colour, that I interpreted to be the first stages "into" 3D blackness. This lasted about 30 seconds, then the lights and shapes came back. I was very disappointed. 

With me, the problem seems to be stopping the distracting thoughts and just concentrating on the lights and shapes to see if they "evolve" into any tangible images etc.

Is this a common problem with beginners?

 

Very common!

Perhaps the Noticing Exercise isn't the best focus for you.  You can choose just about anything you want.  Pick something which is easy for your to hold.

Breath works good for that.  You can also pick any number of methods out there.  They each offer a different *focus* for you to use.

So in effect there is no such thing as what we call lucid dreaming and astral projection, but rather a continuum of consciousness at varying degrees of perception. With the more practiced practitioners able to get the clearest perception of what they experience or "see" on this continuum?

Generally from what I've read many moons ago Frank labelled level 3 consciousness as an experience totally unlike the typical experiences we expect eg lucid dreaming. The 3 experience is on another level. Example, a state of mind where you are a point of conciousness and you perceive your environment as pure white light. You have no body and there's nothing there to see but this light. However, what you feel there is absolute bliss. There's nothing on earth like it. The purity and intensity overwhelm our human minds. The bad point is you don't want to return, its that intense. There are other examples but you need a lot of experience to become one with Frank's level 3. They are quite rare too

I believe you're referring to Frank's F4oC.  That's the point he described where what you explain occurs. Apparently.  👍

This makes me wonder if blind people from birth could astral project at all, seeing as most of the techniques to do so involve visualising, which blind-from-birth people wouldn't be able to do, as they have no concept of shape or colour to create visualisations.

What you experience while projecting is based upon your life experiences.  Or at least the subjective nature of our projections draw from our life experiences.

As such, it would depend upon when someone became blind or if they were born blind.

If you were born blind, then you would no concept of *seeing*.  That doesn't mean you ciios t dream or project, you would experience within the confines of not seeing. That's all.

This is where Frank and I go our separate ways.  I don't view consciousness as being so neatly divided between a personal area of consciousness and collective area of consciousness.

Consciousness is a whole, you perceive what you experience and that's it.

The question I feel you're really asking is what is the difference between a lucid dream and an astral projection.

To that I answer the difference is only the level of awareness you have during the experience. The closer you can get to having the same kind of awarness you have now (I call it a waking awareness), the closer to a full projection you are.

I was reading about the science behind the various lights and shapes we see when Noticing, and the science says they are caused by Phosphenes, which are visual perceptions caused by various stimuli, such as pressure, electrical stimulation, or mechanical stimulation of the retina or visual system. Essentially, they are perceived visual patterns or flashes that occur when there is some form of mechanical or electrical activity affecting the visual system, even in the absence of external light.

Correct, so it's those patterns you're "noticing".

Given this, would a blind person be able to Notice, given the necessity for a functioning retina to Notice?

That's actually a really good question!  I'm not sure.  I guess it would depend upon how blind someone is maybe?

I've just started reading Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics. I hear he uses mystical language to describe his experiences which some people in various forums don't like.

Some people love Bruce, some don't.  I like some stuff he does, but I mostly see him as a fear monger.

As for Tom Campbell, he worked directly with Robert Monroe before TMI even started.  Check out his youtube channel.  As for books, he has only the one big work called "My Big TOE" - which goes over his TOE (Theory of Everything).

I had a look on the Net and found a site that has all the presets you are looking for (Free download).  They are for the book Mastering Astral Projection.  When you click on each file it opens the audio on a separate web page.  You can than right click on the audio and save to your computer.  I had to change the name of my download so the file ends with an mp3 extension.  I can than play them and they work.

I remember messing around with the bwgen program many years ago.  It was okay, it really allowed you to mix together any frequencies you wanted.  I had put together a few binaural beats of differing frequencies rather easily if I remember correctly.

If I was you, I'd check out youtube, there are quite a few good binaural beats there. 

You're in "the zone"!  Lean into that.

You really can focus entirely upon that and use it! 

This goes awhile back. From what I remember, I would use a command as I was entering the tunnel. Usually I went back 300 or 400 years as that was the most that would work. I would often end up alone in a field of brown grass, few to no animals around. One time I got such good control of my surroundings I was able to lay in the grass.

That's pretty cool. 

Should try to develop that ability again if you haven't lately.

Sounds like you might have healed on an intellectual level, yet on a being level, there is a little bit more you have to do regarding this former residence and those two individuals?

According to all the accounts I've read of people who have experienced NDEs, they all mention being met by someone after death and experiencing a tremendous feeling of love emanating from this person and the surrounding environment. As if "love" is the energy that fuels the "after life". 

Yet in Frank Kepple's writings he never mentions love at all, or rather he mentions Monroe's description of it as an experience, but dismisses it, saying it is just a figment of Monroe's imagination.

This makes me a bit sceptical about Frank's experiences in Focuses 3 and 4.

As I said, all the NDE accounts (from every culture) mention this love, but Frank doesn't.

Damn, you're right, he only mentions the word "Love" three times in the entire Frank's Posts PDF. 
I'm sure had he lived longer he would have eventually included it into his experiences and lessons.
It's a natural progression. 

You should look up Tom Campbell, the base of his entire message is that Love > Fear. 

Well, I don't know about the specifics of HOW it all happened... but yes, my view is that each of us is a bit of the consciousness called an "awareness".  That awareness is derived from consciousness as a whole, so that is how we are all connected.  We are all aspects of the same consciousness interacting with each other creating this reality as we all experience it.

Essentially, for lack of a better term, yeah, we can be considered "gods".  You only have to look as far as our ability to create life here to know for a fact that we are gods.
