Welcome to Members Introductions! / Hello
February 28, 2006, 17:39:45
Try to focus on the experience itself (see my nickname) rather than your expectations of it.

It really doesn't matter whether you are on your back, side, or stomach. Most of the projections I've had have been from dreams, while sleeping on my side.

The Permanent Topics and FAQ sections are a gold mine of information. The simple act of reading those threads can do a lot to increase your chances.

I wouldn't say that this is good or bad, it's just different. I'm going to keep an eye on it and continue my usual practice.

Thanks to all for your advice.

Welcome to Dreams! / Having Sex in My Dream
February 27, 2006, 00:08:49
Quote from: El-BortukaliBecause i don't want to succumb to my Animalistic desires.

And mainly  because masturbation leads to ejaculation,Ejaculation leads to pleasure. And pleasure leads to wanting more, thus creating desire.

Desire is the source of all suffering .by not  knowing any pleasure i don't and thus i don't suffer.
You are adding another, more stressful attachment to the existing one (sexual desire). Be like a rock, and the water will carve you out.

On Feb. 11th, while in a light trance and having trouble deepening the relaxation, I decided to relax my energy centers rather than bring energy into them. There was much less tension in my legs upon relieving pressure in the base center, so I continued up to to the heart, but didn't notice any other immediate effects.

The next day I felt emotionally, mentally, and physically dull. I figured this was probably due to relaxing the ECs, so I raised as much energy as I could during meditation. That made me feel better, but now (2 weeks later) there remains a lingering physical effect of very slight numbness, or lessened sensitivity.

Could this be harmful in some way, and can it be reversed?

Look into Tantric sex, it involves moving the energy out of the base center.

Guys, I sucked at Math- And for the life of me, I've read every topic about the focuses but I still can't seem to get it.  Is there an 'Idiot's Guide to Focus Levels?'  :nerd:
This post by Frank is fairly in-depth, but it doesn't include FZ -- focus 0, a border between all the states.

Thanks for your responses. I think this is a good indication that if the astral body is at all reliant on the brain, it is at least using different parts of it.

I am curious if anyone has noticed changes in their left or right hand dominance in the astral. Do you use your dominant hand out of habit, or because you have to?

Check this thread in the faq section. Keep in mind that F3 is not the same in Frank K.'s model:

Monroe C1 – Phasing Model Focus 1
Monroe Focus's 3;10;12;15 & 21 – Phasing Model Focus 2
Monroe Focus's 23; 24; 25; 26 & 27 – Phasing Model Focus 3
No direct translation with Monroe – Phasing Model Focus 4

If you are floating in mid-air, then wouldn't you be having an OBE?

Quote from: Sepultura123And why doing meditation ?What it bring ?
For me, it contributes to a clearer and more disciplined mind.

Quote from: WillisI'd like to ad this... For some people it can be a fairly quick process, but for most, it can be extremely difficult and only occur after months and months of practice.
I would be in the latter group, it took 6 months before I got any results, and I still haven't projected at will. The wait is worth it!
#238
You don't need to fear sleep paralysis, it's a good sign of progress.

Quote from: Sepultura123I would like to try but I dont know very much about meditation.
In order to be aware of something (a thought, feeling, sensation, etc.) you must first perceive it. Take yourself to that point in your mind where things are observed.

Most methods stress observation of one object, usually the breath; I haven't found this to be as important as remaining an observer. It is too easy to become engaged in a struggle where you try to focus on one thing, and the mind focuses on something else. In my experience, it's much easier to work on observation in the beginning, and then focus on the breath once the mind is calm.

There are other styles of meditation that don't stress observation, but I don't practice them so I can't say much about them.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Re: RTZ OBE

Quote from: SelskiFirstly, I put my head through the door.  I lost it and came back to full consciousness.
I've had this happen in LDs. What solved it was having an expectation of what I'd find on the other side.

Quote from: Selskidecided to make a circle with my finger, going round and round, creating an astral 'hole' to go through. I started to step through my self-created portal, lost it, came back to full consciousness and knew that was it.
Monroe has a few journal entries in Journeys where he experiments with a vortex by sticking his hand through it:

"Carefully, I reached a hand through into the blackness. I was astounded when a hand took mine and shook it! It felt like a human hand, normally warm to the touch. After the handshake, I withdrew my hand quickly. Slowly, 1 reached into the hole again. The hand shook mine again, and placed a card in it."

Some nights I get into bed feeling like I'm climbing into a space capsule ready for launch.   It's good to have this enthusiasm and optimism, provided you can keep it under control once you start the AP attempt.

Over the years I tried quite a few techniques before settling on the one I use now. My thoughts are very persistent -- at the outset I can't concentrate on my breath or anything else -- so I observe the thoughts. It usually takes 10-15 minutes before the smoke/dancing flame appears, and then I switch my attention to the breath.

Welcome to News and Media! / Hearing Buzzing

There is a long list of anecdotes in this blog post relating to the sound of buzzing during paranormal experiences.

I 'woke up' from a dream after three hours of sleep last night, without entering F1.

My bedroom looked almost exactly as it should have (dark), but my eyes were not open! There was some lack of lucidity, because even though I knew my eyes were closed -- I shut them tightly, to be sure -- it didn't occur to me that it was odd to be looking through my eyelids.  At the far side of my room was a poorly lit, unidentifiable object; as I focused farther off, it split in two as a very close subject does when one stares into the distance. I felt as if I was moving my eyes to see, but it may not have been a sensation from F1.

When I entered F1, my eyes were noticeably heavy and scratchy from lack of rest (they hadn't felt this way in F2). I was still looking directly where I had been in F2; the poorly lit object that I had observed was no longer there, and the wall it was next to was much closer.

This is the third time I've been in this state after a dream has ended. I'm going to have to incorporate movement into my lucidity checks so that I'll remember to get out of bed next time.  :wall:

Welcome to Dreams! / Meditating in an LD
February 03, 2006, 05:24:16
I gave this a try last night and got strange results. In the dream, I sat down cross legged and cradled my hands, just as I would in F1. There was a fireplace directly in front of me which became my object of meditation. Almost the instant that I started concentrating, I zoomed up to within a few inches of the fireplace, then snapped back to my original position, at which point I began to rapidly pitch and yaw. :pale:

In an attempt to stop the roller coaster ride, I switched my concentration to the breath -- my physical breath. This resulted in a weird but short lived overlay of tactile sensations from F1 and F2 as the dream ended.

Could the loss of equilibrium have been a confusion of F1 (laying down on my side) and F2 (sitting upright)?

MPD is now known as DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder).

I would say that your friend has psychosis.  It could have be caused by any number of factors, mental and physical.

It does sound like phasing. This is one of Frank K.'s posts (sorry I don't have a link):

QuoteWhen you start your mental rundown, it will appear as if you are looking at yourself in mind from a distance. This is what I call 3rd-person view. During your rundown, you should engage your senses within the rundown as much as possible. In other words, don't just try to "see" but touch, taste, smell, feel... as much as you can. It's not easy but work on trying as much as you can. The more you engage your senses the more likely you will reach the next stage, as follows...

At some point, you get what I call, "the switch".

This is where you will switch from third-person, looking-at-a-distance to actually viewing what you were previously imagining as a first-person view. In other words, it'll be like it's you, Andali, looking out of your own eyes in your own body, but your environment will have changed. Note: when I say your own body, I don't mean your actual physical body. But it will be a replica of your physical and it will feel like your physical body in all respects.

Once you make the switch, you are now within Focus 2 of consciousness. (According to the Phasing Model that is.) As I say, there is no direct correlation to the Monroe Model. Once you are within F2oC you then decide where you want to go. You can have a look around where you are, or shift to another area, it's entirely up to you. I posted the technique of shifting areas from F2 to F3 just recently. Do a search on slat-effect and that should bring up the post.

Selski:

The stream would have felt the same to me if I pictured it in F1 -- I didn't believe I could interact with it. Next time I'll be sure to give it a try.

What I was curious to know about F3, is if the imagination works the same as it does in F1?
