Welcome to Dreams! / Re: had my first lucid dream
October 04, 2006, 03:24:42
Next time I would post this in the dream section. you will most likely get more responses in there. I'm interested though so I'll tell you what I think.

First of all you said Lucid Dreaming wasn't a big deal... Well thats all to do with what your focuses are upon. If you have your mind set purely on AP then having a Lucid dream won't be your goal, in which case it wouldn't be a big deal. However if you, like me, are open to any sort of experience then you should take it as it comes  Besides Lucid Dreams are pretty fun, who doesn't want to live out any fantasy they've ever conjured up in there minds??? Lucid Dreaming gives you that chance, It can also be used if you want to act out a real life scenario before it happens. e.g. Asking someone on a date.

I'm not too sure on the transition from LD's to AP's. If I was you I would have a try at conscious projection. Then again if you find it easy to induce an LD then just go for an affirmation of some sort.

Keep trying and you will get it all sorted . Peace, LL 8-)

Can't say i've heard of that before. Not saying they can't though, if they can then soon enough they will be putting it in food to make us forget events e.g. 9/11... then again could just be my mind running loose :|

KnightLight said some true stuff there. Go with the flow of it... and you will gain experience. With practice comes control. And with control comes better experiences  Just keep at it mate.

Theres no right or wrong answers... the whole experience is personal just to you so don't worry if your vibrations are severe Are even if you projected as an elf from the moon or whatever.

Perhaps your just a natural at AP. I've been attempting for several months now and the furthest i've got is the vibrations, but we will all get there in the end if we perceviere.

I agree with ET. Also do you keep a dream journal??? You should do, at least until you can remember at least one a night. Also when you are goin to sleep affirm to yourself that you will remember your dreams upon awakening. When you wake up try and piece the dream together. Ask yourself questions.

e.g Who was I with? A man... What did he look like?? etc... until you've remember as much as you can.

Yeh I think your prolly right SilverSlider. I'll give your method a go. it seems pretty sly and perfect to get away with in a lesson

I had a hard time convincing myself that it wasn't just after images I was seeing. I did a few experiments until I couldn't disprove it. Now I'm going along with it, trying to take it to the next level. Which for me is seeing colours.

Try looking at your astral hands so you remain "awake". Also if it's going into a dream don't get angry, just go with the flow and see where it takes you.

I'll run you through my relaxation technique. It's pretty standard but providing i'm not "too tired or "too awake" then it will usually work. I have to be tired enough so that I will go to sleep but not so tired that I'm constantly yawning and can't think straight.

Firstly I settle into bed and do some simple stretches and whatnot just to make me comfy.. Then I decide whether I want to have my arms on the inside or outside of the covers. (Sometimes when it's hot and I have then on the inside it gets too uncomfortable because of the heat and I have to abandon it for the night. So I make a decision before I start.)

Once i'm settled in I do muscle relaxation. Simply tensing the toes hard for about 8 secs then letting go and feeling they are fully relaxed with no tension. (Not really a visualisation, just affirming without a doubt to myself that they are relaxed.) Then I will go to my: Ankles, Knees, Hips, Buttocks, Fingers, Wrists, Fore & Upper Arms, Stomach, Shoulders, Neck, Jaw, Mouth, Eyes, Ears. Then I imagine tensing the area just above my head (Crown Chakra) and on release all the tension disappearing. Don't worry if you don't want to do it in that order. It's just my modified method... you change it how you like because it's made for you.

I'm not really a visualisation person, sometimes I picture myself on an island and try to focus in on detail, I will only do this to try and catch my mind out. What I mean here is, the mind tends to try and drift away from the visualisation. It will make you think about whether you locked the house or whatever. Anything it can to get you away from your focus. If I don't feel like visualising then I will either concentrate on my breath or on my heart beat. Anything to focus on. If you keep catching it out, by the time you fall asleep you will think hang on.. i'm not thinking about my visualisation/heart beat/breath. Then you will stop the mind from going to sleep.

Once here the vibes usually kick in without a few minutes of being in this state. I normally just focus on my breath to stop me going to sleep and then they will come in.

I've not gotten further than this so you will have to improvise from here.

Hope this helps. Peace, LL 8-)

The mind cannot handle the astral dimension at all. As I've stated earlier: Your mind is not capable of speeds over 24 frames per second and cannot handle analyzing the astral realm while you are out. It does not come a long for the ride. You mind begins to interpret and analyse the experience once you re-enter.

Meaning that what you re-enter your mind makes you doubt what you saw?? Maybe try and make you think it was all a dream.

Also theres all that stuff about how an hour in the astral can be a minute in the physical and vice versa. It sure is very unpredictable, guess you gotta take it as it comes.

I've heard that the astral realm is the 5th dimension... Is it true you can see 360° all at once? surely the mind wouldn't be able to handle that. :|

Okay you have a fair point there. I think that through astral projection you could "find yourself" and because of this it could improve your martial arts, at least the mental side of it. As i'm not a martial arts practitioner myself I can't say much as it's pretty much over my head.

You could learn lessons in the astral that would aid you in martial arts... does that sound better?

Schizophrenia sure is a weird thing. I wondered whether it was the two hemispheres of the brain that had different personalities. Also I wondered whether it was more than one spirit sharing the same "Physical Shell".

I definately think theres more than meets the eye with schizophrenia... perhaps it's different for different people (Just a guess).

It came to my mind that if there is instant manifestation in the astral then you could mould the landscapes with your thoughts... I just wondered, what if your subconscious thoughts expected a certain landscape and you changed an entire "Astral Town" with this thought..

Would it permanently be changed or just while you were there?... thats if you can change places simply like that.

Yes lucid_learner!... lightning, thats a good description, thanks!.. like your muscles are twitching when being shocked but it isnt your muscles its like, everything. :)

It shocked me a lot when it first happened... I suppose I read about vibrations as if they were never going to happpen to me and when they did it was a big surprise.

They happened to me last night and I noticed a weird feelign in my body, I couldn't put my finger on it. Almost like a temperature change but it wasn't. Felt like I was somewhere other and my bed anyway :|

Did your eyelids twitch when you were having the vibes?? Mine twitched rapidly.

So far I've not managed the split, I spent months and months working on deep relaxation. Until one day I decided to deep relax and go to sleep... I caught myself In the process of going to sleep and bingo, in came the vibes. I under-estimated them and it came as a bit of a shock... a lightning shock .. scared the crap out of me and I abandoned it for that night.

I stopped doing it for a while and focused mainly on Lucid dreams... until last night I gave it a go and managed to get the vibes but I just observed them rather than going any further.

I've told my parents about what I do, they respect what I do and I re-assured them (and myself) that it's a completely natural process that happens every night but we just aren't aware of it. As for friends I kept it on the basis that I might mention it subtley.. if they ask questions I answer them but as so to never reveal more than they need to know. Then if they carried on asking me questions I would link them up to a forum and some of them got into practicing it thereselves... seek and ye shall find

As far as I know OBE covers all kinds of out of body projection... astral, etheric, mental etc...
whereas Astral Projection refers to the Astral Plane only. (Just a guess)

I practice on a night before I go to bed. I've found that it helps to be drowsy but not so much that I'm constantly yawning.

If you can get into a trance state already then I would say your making astounding progress, it's taken me many months just to get to the vibes stage and like I said it's only happened to me twice. Once your in the trance you can use any of the methods you've read to do the split.

Good luck to you. Peace, LL 8-) (hope this helps)

Very interesting extracts there. The vibrations I felt were pretty much like a jolt of lightning... and the heart pounding at what seemed to be as if it was going to burst.

The blurry vision through closed eyelids in the first extract sounds very much like Astral Vision, not experiencing it myself I can't be sure but from what I've read it seems like that. Perhaps your body had split but you were still lying in the same position? Maybe next time if you roll over or focus on floating you will fully seperate??

As for the second one it's a complete mystery to me. perhaps you projected to a higher plane? Not much knowledge about those though.

Either way I wish you look

I have to say I've never read a technique like that before. It's not the kind of technique I would use but it does seem very interesting. I was wondering whether the colour stimulates the third eye or anything like that? I'd like to hear results from anyone who has been trying this. +1 Karma.

Persevere mate... I'm in a similar boat to you and at the moment I'm trying to induce lucid dreams and then I want to turn it into a projection from there. Just experiment with different techniques, you never know what might or might not work. Plus the desire to astral project might show in your subconscious and appear in your dreams, then you could go from there

I agree with A_M.  I would much rather achieve OBE without the use of drugs to induce it... surely you would feel a much bigger sense of achievement if you knew you did it all on your own???

Most hallucinogenic drugs can induce AP can't they? I know Acid/LSD can open up your chakras.

I'm reading Practical Psychic Self Defence by Robert Bruce He mentions Astral Snakes in his book... eek I hate snakes. I know the chances of you coming into contact with something like this is rare if you don't think about it. But as a child I used to have bad nightmares about snakes and I was wondering whether my subconscious could make me come into contact with these?

If you expect the unexpected does that mean you can unexpect the expected??? Cos I expect to see some snakes  ... Plus I'm not letting it put me off I'm still going to persist with the OBE.

Well theres a forum right here for your support man. Welcome

Here is a free ebook by Robert Bruce, he is a good author so watch out for him, his stuff is worth reading  :-)

http://www.astraldynamics.com/download/Treatise.pdf Be careful not to look at too many techniques at once. When I first got into it I read a ton of techniques all at once and they all blended into one and I got all confused. I'm still having trouble with deep relaxation. That eBook should answer most of your questions. However if you have one then search on the forum for it and if it hasn't already been asken then start a new thread. Everyone is here to help each other.

(If you ant more eBook's just PM me, i've got loads )

Interesting... just a random thought here but do you think you could have your third eye so open that you could actually see astral entities? I know psychics have an open third eye but I'm not too sure how they actually percieve the astral world. Is it like they are looking out of physical and astral eyes at once??

Just because no-one has used it before doesn't make it a bad idea... or maybe they do and keep it quiet. You could start a whole new form of training in the astral realm. The fact is that if you can OBE successfully then why not apply it to martial arts? It may just work. Theres no point in following your idols either.. I wouldn't want to be remembered as a repeat of the first. I would want to be the first, with a new style... the astral could be the key. I mean you could communicate with deceased masters of martial arts.. then from that form a whole new martial art maybe :-o who knows. The possibilities are endless but without trying your not going to get anywhere.

So overall... give it a shot you never know.
