If those are your normal hours, then yes you could, the important thing being to sleep for 4 hours straight, getting up for an hour, going back to bed, and not moving.

I'm speculating but it could be the case the we several bodies all layered like an onion. There's the physical, the etheric, the emotional, the mental, on and on with each one operating at a higher frequency than the last.

I've heard this theory many times over the years, the idea being that you can project from each 'body' into progressively higher planes, leaving each body behind like an empty husk.

Hey Mar10fl, I'll have to re-read my Monroe books to see what he was referring to. As ex-pres Clinton would say, "I feel your pain" because as brilliant as Monroe was, he could be downright confusing at times. [:(]

Hmmm, it's too early to tell just yet as it's only been a week or so since I first started and want to give it at least a month before giving my verdict.

I have a small book which offers a technique for working with the subconscious and it says that acquiring material things is supposedly easier than acquiring mental or spiritual qualities, or dealing with health issues. Don't know if thats true or not.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Maitreya
June 03, 2004, 20:00:04
Hi Stillwater,

From what I've read about Maitreya over the years, especially when I first started reading Krishnamurti's biography back in '82, he seems to be a major personage in the Theosophical hierarchy. He's supposed to reincarnate at particular moments in time to help speed the spiritual evolution of humanity. The Theosophists believed this wholeheartedly, only they felt that he would 'take over' the body of a highly evolved, suitable person ALREADY living (Krishnamurti), and operate through him.

Beyond this I know next to nothing except that Krishnamurti himself broke away from the Theosophial Society while still it's leader in 1929. His reason, based in part from what you already stated, was that truth had no path to it, nor should anyone set themselves up as a 'leader'. He felt that everyone had to seek truth without the constraints of organized religion, and consequently discover it for themselves.

Hi MaDroX,

about the Interrupted Sleep Technique:

1) Go to bed at say 9 or 10 pm

2) Set alarm to awaken you after 4 hours sleep

3) Get out of bed and find something to do (e.g. watch tv, work at computer, etc.)

4) After 1 hour go back to bed

5) Relax and get comfortable. Once positioned do not move under any circumstances since this will discourage the vibes and keep you in the physical.

Thats pretty much it. If you're really interested in this technique I recommend reading Albert Taylor's book 'Soul Traveller' which you can find on Amazon.

Good luck!

I've started practicing this technique several nights ago and am eagerly waiting to see what happens, though I'll definitely give it time to work.

BTW if anyone's interested here's the website itself,

Hey Birm,

thanks for sharing your experiences.

Many of the writers (Monroe, Buhlman, Taylor) speak of astral sex as an exchange of energy. If that's so then perhaps on an energetic level the polarity between men and women are equalized or exchanged so that men take in the feminine (yin) energy, and women take in the masculine (yang) energy, causing a polarity balance between the participants. I've heard that this experience is very blissful. While Buhlman spoke of the great joy and ecstasy he felt during these encounters I can't say I've had the mind-blowing astral sex that he had. (darn it!!!) [:(!]

Hey BOATS, me too! I've often thought about bringing my micro cassette recorder to work and see what happens. I work in a hospital and can say that I've heard of many ghostly happenings in the place since I started working there in 1993. Maybe oneday I'll take the elevator up to the mostly unoccupied 6th floor (at least at night), talk to the empty rooms, hit the record button, and see what happens...

...as soon as I get the noive! [:O]

Hi Yothu,

I don't know what these people's politics are, who they support, what organizations they belong to etc, nor do I care, I'm sure you can always find SOMETHING to discredit someone about if you look hard enough, but if there was anything 'questionable' about their work I don't think they'd have been invited on Coast To Coast 5 or 6 times (and possibly more).

BTW, it isn't my intention to convince anyone of anything, you're perfectly free to draw your own conclusions about what you see or read, but I don't think a person's politics (or whatever) should be a factor in deciding if their work is genuine or not.

Another brain enhancer, this stuff sounds almost too good to be true but I'll post it anyway...

Nice site BOATS, here's another one. I've heard these people on Coast to Coast at least half a dozen times, and they've got some very interesting (and scary) stuff.

Hey Kazbadan, way cool site! I'll be doin' a lot of downloading over the next several days.

BTW, Tartini lived from 1692-1770, and the name of that little ditty he wrote was 'The Devil's Trill Sonata'

Here's a nice station that has something for everyone, including some great jazz violin.

Hey Runlola, you mean there's more? [:D]

That's a good question, but I haven't the slightest. You could probably find your answer in Stephen Laberge's book, which is excellent. He's also got a video that looks pretty interesting.

LOL

Ahh, so that's the ticket eh?

Your mom is right, 'Mannix' was the name of a very popular show in the 60's, but of course if you're under the age of 40 you probably wouldn't remember it, in fact I as about 7 or 8 when this show aired on television.

This guy made me want to be a detective BIG TIME. [:D]

That's absolutely right, the more you try to make it last, the quicker it fades out, but if you relax and flow with it, the experience lasts much longer.

I agree, some of these experiences I feel ARE the product of the experiencer, especially when as you pointed out, you can shape the melody, etc, but I'm not so sure of the expeiences where the melodies don't respond to a person's will.

Looks interesting Darkheaven, did you get this from a book, and if so, what's the name?

I'll try it out soon, thanks for sharing the idea.
#46
Just curious Manix, you wouldn't have happened to get your moniker from this guy would you?

This guy played a detective on a very popular show in the 60's and 70's, 'cept I think he had 2 N's in his name.

Yeah, I read LaBerge's book on Lucid Dreams a loooonnng time ago. IMO Stephen LaBerge is the Robert Monroe of Lucid Dream research.

I have an audiocassette package I bought from Amazon 2 years ago that has LaBerge, Monroe, and another guy who talks about astral projection. LaBerge is terrific!

Hi Manix,

In addition to what Shaman suggested you might also want to try taking herbs that nourish the brain such as Ginkgo Biloba or Gotu Kola. Rosemary, besides inhaling it as Shaman suggested, can also be ingested. It's a terrific brain stimulator. I suggest taking all three of these herbs if possible. If you have to take one I'd go with Ginkgo, though you can always experiment to see which one works the best.

Another excellent brain food is lecithin granules. If you go here (Swansons Vitamins) you can get the stuff very cheap.

My brother, who is also a member here (elbuscador) has had pretty good success with taking supplements for dream recall, as well as encouraging lucid dreams.

Exercise can also play a factor in memory, in fact whenever I had my experiences I was almost always on an exercise program (usually running). Aerobic exercise has a tremendous effect on the brain, not just the muscles.

I see you're an avid dream journaler! I wish I had your patience, because I've never been able to stick with it. If you get tired of writing try using one of those micro cassette recorders.

And then...there's the Shakti Helmet [:O]

Emmanuel Swedenborg was a true renaissance man. If memory serves, he was a master of several sciences as well as a gifted psychic. He claims to have visited the angelic kingdom where he had conversations with angels. Many of his books are still in print and can be easily found, which says a lot about his writings since he lived around four hundred years ago.

When I was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha Nebraska (1980-1982) I met a young Airman who was into Swedenborg big-time, in fact he'd read most of his books and recommended which ones to read. I'd only read a little about the guy, but was very impressed with his abilities.
