You just have to stay focused on your breathing (or blackness bhind eyes, or sth else) and don't get distracted by heart beating. I found that counting breaths helps me, "1" -breathe in, "a" - breathe out, "2" - breathe in, "b" - breathe out, and so on or concentrating on the stomach going up and down while breathing.
In time it's getting easier, but still I consider it to be quite uneffective for me, and I resigned from this method of achieving OBEs.

I hope you can go further than me. Good luck! :)

I have the same problem :|
When I reach deeper trance the (physical) heart starts racing. After some practice I managed to stay focused even longer and then, after the heart beating, I heard strange high-pitched noise and felt pressure in my head.
I couldn't pass that so far, but I guess more practice needs to be done. Then after these symptoms occur you may lose consciouseness for a second, "click", and regain it flying over your physical body. ;)

Btw. reaching OBEs via meditation is quite difficult as far as I know. Beginners are usually recomended to try other methods (e.g. LDs).

Looks like someone just chose a wrong name for this kind of experience.
When energy centers are open you don't call it stigmata. It may hurt a bit if there's a lot of energy kept inside this center but its usually temporary, so what does it have to do with wounds, Christ and suffering?  :?

Quotehy the left one is larger then the right?
Because each side of body may be developed energetically at different rate. Is it brain that matters? Probably so.

The longer I read this article, the more I disliked it.
It presents some "universal truths", but still, it contains a lot of childish thinkg and sayings "get me a rifle and I will shoot you ^_^". This makes it all less credible.

This table made me really irritated:
QuoteObject | Auric Color
Red    | Green
Orange | Pale Green
Yellow | Pale Blue
Green  | Orange
Blue   | Yellow
Indigo | Gold
Violet | Pale Gold
Pink   | Iridescent Green
It's easy to notice that those are not auric colours, but colours experienced after long, straining looking at something (what was the scientific name for that? :P)

All in all, the content is nothing new and the form could be better. Maybe the author will improve it when he gets older.
