I'm working on affirmations to go along with my goals, which to with is to project.  Ultimately, I'd like to be able to use an object to trigger it during the day.  I read about this in one of the guides I picked up.  They have a lucid experience whenever they eat.

But to start:
I am dreaming, and I recall my dreams with total clarity.
I am dreaming, and I know that I am dreaming.

Feel free to pick this apart.  When I achieve this goal, I'll work on a new set.

On occasion, I've enjoyed relaxing while the waves push me back and forth.  This visualization I created based on some of the exercised from the book I mentioned.  Psychic Development for Beginners by Hewitt.  One of them is walking down steps to get to a deeper psychic level.  I go there to do my exercises.  Writing on chalkboard, visualizing my name being sky written, and letting flow away.  Visualizing my body for the purpose of calling out to others.  It overlooks the sea and a beach, and a mountain, which come from his beach of time and mountain exercise.  I won't deny that I've often thought that I was close, but up until now, I've not managed to project.  If I get frustrated, I take some time to distance myself and calm down.

Btw, the sources I've read have stated that it is better to attempt to project in the morning.  What's your opinion?  Does it matter?

I made a few attempts.  I was dozing, while making attempt and when I tried to get out, I woke up.  Still in bed in the dark.  It was weeks ago, so I'm not sure if I tried to roll out, but I tried three separate times

Up until now, my primary mental exercise is to close my eyes, descend 10 steps, inhale fully, hold for 2 seconds and exhale completely.  Let the vision of grated floor with picture window revealing ocean directly below, mountain in the opposite, and sandy beach to the side with forest beyond, as well separating beach from mountain, there is also a rock wall behind observatory.  to the right is a tunnel, and when I touch the door knob, I generally feel vibrations.  I noticed the vibrations before I even started trying to astral project.  I haven't been able to increase the vibrations.  The door leads to a tunnel.  Sometimes I have rope there and sometimes I try flying straight up.

I will be practicing 'noticing' today.  When I'm confident in my ability in my proficiency, I'll start on the next training.

I've read up on it, but as you've stated, I haven't studied as much as I may have to.  I'm familiar with rope climbing, levitating, rolling out, as well as visualizing, listening (which I think is my strongest point) phantom wiggling, and few others.  I try to train these, but usually, I end up not getting the opportunity, or forgetting.  I have at times kept dream logs.  When I was younger, I would usually remember all my dreams, but it has been years since I did that, and I usually forget them.

As far as meditation goes, I'm not really sure how to do it.  I'm aware that it can take as little as ten minutes.  During the day, I do like to practice phantom limb exercises as I feel my arm reaching for a cup while I have my arm resting.  I can feel my hand grip, but I can't feel the cup.  I tend to sleep from night til morning without interruptions, but I'm willing to get into the habit of waking up just a little earlier to do frequent awakenings.  I don't think I've ever had a lucid dream, but several months ago, I was in a dream where I was flying around and controlling where I flew.  Just flying around and landing on buildings and coherently thinking, but I didn't really think about whether I was in a dream.  Then again, I probably wouldn't.

QuoteOn this board are two good ones to start with: Everything you could want to know about Sleep Paralysis, and personalreality's How I Got Out For The First Time.
I have read the second one a couple of times, but I only gave Sleep Paralysis a curious glance at this time.
QuoteNext, on the third board, Consciousness, you will find Xanth's 60 page Primer and Szaxx's Astral Blueprint; both highly recommended.
I will find this in a minute.

QuotePersonally, I would add that the simplest thing you can begin with is to use simple affirmations every night to remember your dreams and to increase your awareness of your dreams. Think about the awareness or mindset you have had within your dreams. This awareness is the starting-point with which you will develop an OBE or Non-Physical awareness/mindset. Think about the varying levels of this dream awareness you have experienced in the past. This is what you will be working on developing. The level of awareness can be increased equal to your physical awareness and even beyond this in amazing ways! But you have to start somewhere and this is where most of us start. Begin a Dream Diary, write them down; this will show you patterns and themes.
Lots of questions, but I'm not sure what to ask.  Would you mind expanding on some of these points?

I've actually considered starting a blog to document my attempts.  Haven't tho.

I'm currently reading The Phase - A Practical Guidebook.  It details a varied method system which I have tried.  Usually, I fall asleep trying the methods or finish without feeling anything special.  Reading it, it might be a worthwhile book, but I think they give certain details in the wrong order.  For instance, it states early that you will have trouble if you move when you wake up or are too alert, and I just reached a point where it states that it really isn't problem, but most people think it is.

This all started a year and a half ago when I ordered a book by William Hewitt.  It gives exercises and example stories, some of which I've tried.  Haven't gotten through them all.  He touches on OBE, and I'm currently on the psychometry exercises.  I can generally tell color, but I'm not so hot with suits.  At the very beginning of practicing these exercises, I would get physically ill from them and would hold off the next, but that eventually stopped and I can go through the deck four times.  Once color, once suits, then other one more suits and varied or both varied.  Thinking on it, I eventually came to the conclusion that what I wanted was to perform OBE, and that was maybe a year ago now.

A little about myself:
So, reading through net resources, I read about hearing sounds like a sort of ringing, which is different than THAT ringing.  So I turned off my music and listened to the silence.  It was easy enough to Identify such a sound in the air.  Once I heard it, I found I was able to identify it even while listening to music, or during conversation if I really wanted to.  Or, it'll fade into the background until I listen for it again.  During one of my more recent attempts.  While I was waking up, I noticed images, not unlike movie reels, but whenever I'd try to focus on them, they'd go blank.
I haven't tried this yet, but at times, I'll wake up to music, that I should recognize, though I can never remember what it was after.  The phantom wiggling exercise I do.  Just at this time I can extend my hand from the keyboard and feel my fingers curling.  Not as intensely because I'm actually using my fingers actively.
I also perform an exercise, descending into the outlook overlooking a beach and rolling sea, mountain and forest.

Any advice would be appreciated, and please ask questions.
