We'll start with the "training ground".  The training ground was the term used by Frank to describe an area of consciousness he believed existed (at the time, back in 2002 when he first joined the Pulse) which what you experienced was entirely driven by your conscious/subconscious mind.  It's a concept separate from the Void/3D Blackness.
As he experienced more and more he eventually figured out that the training ground wasn't what he thought it was and he began to quickly stop using that term.  I believe he replaced it with his own "Focus 2", but that was built up a bit more with more detail.

As for the 3D Blackness, I'll just provide you with the short article I wrote on the subject not too long ago:
http://www.unlimitedboundaries.ca/2013/07/26/whats-the-blackness-in-the-3d-blackness/

Hmmm, ok, I thought I wrote more on the void.  Oh well, that should give you an idea.  :)
You're pretty much correct in that I've found it to be a kind of "in-between".  I don't experience it too often going INTO an experience, but I experience it 95% of the time coming OUT of an experience.  I've also experienced it while shifting between environments.  Things tend to "fade to black" (the void), then fade back into the new surroundings.

Very interesting! What's it like? And does anything manifest, or is it just empty? Also-- how do you get out of it, do you just will yourself awake/to your body?

Hey all!

So I've heard talk about a 3D blackness sort of void. From what I have gathered, it is the area in between the physical and astral realms, correct me if I'm wrong. I've also heard people call it the "training ground". What is the 3D blackness? What is it composed of? Why has it been coined a "training ground"? How do you end up there? How do you get out, and into the astral? I would like to learn more about it.

It feels impossible to ap  :x

Trust me, I'm feeling the same way. But I believe it's worth it in the end. We can't give in to our frustration. I know I'm going to be hypocritical, but we have to be as patient as possible. An OBE might occur when we least expect it. How long have you been trying, if I may ask?

Sounds like a haunting, but keep in mind, it could be active or just an energetic memory of the person.

You might just leave it alone and accept the occasional disturbance.

If you try a sage-burning type of purification ritual, you might end it altogether; or it might stir sh*t up...

Interesting choice...I take it that wasn't mentioned in the sales brochure? I would call back to my realtor just for sh*ts and giggles...

I wouldn't burn sage just because I don't think it's worth unintentionally causing more of a problem. The occasional disturbance is nothing too awful.

Hello everyone! I noticed that there is a paranormal section of the forums, and I wanted to share a few experiences that I have had. The house that I moved into six years ago has always seemed somewhat "haunted" to myself, friends, and family members. I thought I'd post a few "happenings" here.

Within the first year that we moved in, three very large things happened. The first of which occurred outside. I was playing basketball with my brother and neighbors and we dropped the ball. It rolled into my garage and bounced against the laundry room door. I went inside of the garage to retrieve it. I chased the ball up to the door, and it bounced against the door two times. I picked it up and was about to return outside when I heard two resounding knocks coming from the other side of the door. We were home alone during the time of the incidence, and I called my friends and brother into the garage. My brother knocked on the laundry room door three times, and after waiting a moment, there came three very loud knocks. We all ran out of the garage, and to assure everyone that the noises were just from the washing machine, my neighbor went inside and down into the laundry room. (The door is locked, that's why we didn't open it). After entering he told us he didn't feel alone. We knocked on the door three more times, and my neighbor looked around, saw nothing, but heard three knocks right next to him. We all stayed outside until my parents returned home.

A few months after that, at around 3:00 in the morning, I got up to use our bathroom. Our upstairs consists of a hexagon hallway, with doors on each available side. There is a large chandelier that we used to keep on during the night so that my brother and I would have a sort of "night light". I walked out into the hallway, and saw my dog sitting at the top of the stairs. I heard my brother moving around in his bed, so I opened the door. He had just woken up too. When we turned around my parents were both in the hallway too. Something had woken us all up at the same time. If this wasn't freaky enough, my dog began to growl down into the darkness at the bottom of the stairs. Shortly after, he ran downstairs. Then, the light went out and we were all in the darkness. After that I had sleeping problems for a long time.

And THEN, one day later that year when I was home alone, something very scary happened. I was sitting in the kitchen, and I heard the sound of breaking glass from my basement. I assumed there was a robber, and I leashed up my dog and headed for the back door. As I was doing this, I heard pounding footsteps coming up the stairs. Then I saw the doorknob turning fiercely back and forth. That door was locked, so I took my dog and ran outside. I called my mom and she rushed home. (She was with my brother a few blocks away). When we all went inside, the basement door was thrown open, the locks broken, and yet all the basement windows were intact. We found no intruders, and no sign of a break in.

Everything calmed down after that, but two more weird incidents occurred this year. The first of which, happened in the morning. I have a window in my room that doesn't have a screen, so I keep it locked all of the time so bees don't come in. I got up one morning, went downstairs to eat breakfast, and my mom came downstairs and yelled at me for leaving the window with no screen open. Alarmed, I went upstairs to find that my closet door was thrown wide open, and so was the window with no screen. That really freaked me out.

The last thing that happened was when my mom was home alone a month ago. She works from home, so she is always there all day. She passed by the stairs and saw a light coming from my room. She went upstairs to turn it off, and right as she did, all the doors upstairs slammed shut. It was very cold out, so all of the windows were closed.

What do you guys think? I find it interesting, but quite horrifying. I think after six years we don't really have much to worry about.

Hey all! I recently sent a letter to someone about an experience I had the other day, but I wanted to get some more opinions. I'll post what I sent here.

Just a few minutes ago I did my second Astral Projection attempt of the day. I lied down on my bed as I normally do in a comfortable position. After doing that, I repeated my mantra to myself "I am astral projecting. I am completely safe..etc etc". I've been reciting that mantra in my head, and verbally for the past few days. Next, I plugged in my headphones and began listening to a theta wave binaural beat that someone recommended from Youtube. I haven't experimented much with these, but I've heard that they may help (And I think it did).

After I got settled in, I did my regular meditation technique, and became very relaxed. Shortly after falling into a trance state, my body began to vibrate. Normally I get very strong vibrations in my arms and legs. My first concern is that I never really experience any vibrations above my neck. Is that a problem? Anyway, it seems that each time I enter a trance state I see a different visual each time. Today's visual was very interesting. The background was just a single color, starting off deep blue, and it would shift to pink, red, etc almost like a lava lamp but only one color at a time. On top of the background colors, was a very strange sight. I saw what looked like a completely black, very large, house centipede with hundreds of legs. The centipede kept walking in a spiral into what seemed infinity, neverending. I'm very afraid of house centipedes (I'm a wimp I know  ) but I told myself not to let it bother me. Soon after, these images kept on going but I noticed that a single eye would appear occasionally in the center of my view. The eye looked quite angry, and it scared me briefly but I kept going.

Oh! I forgot to mention. Before any of the following in the last paragraph occurred, I felt a falling sensation and for the first time I managed to keep my eyes closed. Horray!

Anyway, now for the WEIRD part. I still cannot tell if I was actually partially out of body, but the following happened: I could tell that "just relaxing" wasn't exactly getting me anywhere. So, I tried lifting my "Astral arms". To my surprise, I felt my arms move up and they vibrated more intensely than I have ever felt before. And I can't be sure, but I believe in the back of my mind I also could still feel my physical arms lying on the bed. I can't be completely sure, but my arms may have gotten out. Anyway, while this was happening, my head was still lying on the bed, and I was still just seeing the centipede color configuration. As much as I tried, I couldn't get my head up. I eventually tried thrusting my head up, but then I just woke up.

So here are my questions. Sorry this is such a mouthful:

1. Is it possible my arms were out? I cannot be quite entirely sure, as I couldn't see. (Only colors and such)

2. I can never actually see my room or "open my third eye", I only see patterns and colors if anything at all. How can I open my astral eyes without opening my real eyes and waking up?

3. What do you think of this experience? Is it progress?

Thank you so very much for all of your help. I think I may be close!

There is no wrong or right.   What works for me may not work for you.   You have a lot of opportunities to get out of your body so experiment and see what works and what does not work.  Try different things and work out why it did not work.   I learnt from my own experiences.   I did not learn from a book or from anyone else.    It is best to learn from your own experiences.   I worked out what worked and what did not work.   Every time it did not work I would think why and I always got an answer.   I kept practicing until I got it right.   It did not happen overnight but eventually I was able to ap without any problems.    You are the best person to figure out why it did not work.

I'm beginning to see what works for me and what doesn't. It all just takes some time as I have seen.

Seems to me you are experimenting with partial separation, piece by piece, subconsciously, like dipping a toe in the water.

This is part of the internal discussion I suggested, in another post.

Just let the process unfold naturally, as it is doing.

You might want to keep these related thoughts in just one thread...easier to keep track that way. Just sayin'.

Interesting! I guess it's all starting to come together slowly. And I'll try to be more organized with my threads aha.

Hey all!

During my regular daily meditation I experienced one of the weirdest sensations I have ever had. To start off, I had a series of three sets of vibrations on and off. (This normally happens each time). As this is happening, I begin to feel that something is very wrong. The only way I can describe it is like a scene at a magic show where they "cut" a contestant in half and separate their legs from their upper body. My legs were vibrating and I could feel them lying straight on the left side of my bed, while my upper body was vibrating and lying straight on the right side of my bed. They felt very far apart, yet I felt no pain, and it was quite pleasant. I remained relaxed, and eventually this subsided. I got up like usual because my meditations haven't lead to anything out of body yet. I feel completely fine now. Thoughts?

Hey all!

After practicing each day for the past two weeks, I have made a little bit of progress. My reports are a bit scattered throughout the forum, so I just wanted to compile a basic summary here. So far, it would appear that I have become very good at reaching a deep trance state. When I had very invasive sleep problems as a child my parents took me to a therapist who taught me different ways to practice meditation. This never really helped my issues sadly, but my sessions did give me a lot of practice with meditation from a young age. Anyway, after meditating each day I have reached a point where I can completely tune out everything around me.

For example, the other day as I was meditating my landline phone rang (which happened to be in the room adjacent to mine) and it's very loud. After that happened, one of my parents came home and slammed the door. I heard neither of these things, and only learned about them when I came downstairs after to find a message on my recorder that had come in just minutes before I came downstairs and my mom had just come in.

I've experienced different sensations each time that I meditate. Sometimes I see colors, and other times I feel vibrations. Other times I hear and see nothing but I feel like there is a lead blanket on my chest. I have yet to have a conscious projection. When I'm in a trance state I stay for what feels like about ten minutes but I'm usually "under" for an hour. After trying different exit techniques, trying nothing, reveling in the sensations and such, I still have yet to make any projection progress. I guess I will keep trying each day as I normally do, and continue my affirmations.

Just a quick question...

What does being wealthy mean to you?

To me, being wealthy means doing the things you love while you can. If you have a job that you love doing, not for the sake of a salary, but because you enjoy it, then you are wealthy. If you have a family, or choose to live alone, and you are happy, then you are wealthy. Whatever makes you happier makes you wealthier and wiser each day you do it.  :-D

That sounds to me like you were seeing a Portal. When you see one, will yourself through it. An exciting adventure lies at the other side!   "Trippy" would be a good description as well!  :-D

Let your curiosity lead the way!  :-)

Interesting! Maybe I'll experience it again sometime in the future.

I should make an edit to my "today's experience". After coming downstairs I saw that there were two missed calls and I happen to have a very loud phone. Huh! I guess I really tune out easily  :-P

Hey all!

So I was just wondering if anyone here has used binaural beats. Are they effective? How does one "use" them? I understand that you play them in the background, and I have some, but do you pay attention to them etc?

Your description is very similar to a method of obtaining a concious projection into the bodyless environments. Its all light and sound, mental communications are the only way to interact with the environment.
It's a realy pleasant experience too.
Not easy to do early on but not impossible.

You'd have said "Wow" if you continued lol.

Interesting! My attempt today yieleded nothing sadly. I had just come home from work and I was hot and sticky. Not ideal conditions. (I work outside all day)

One other thing I would suggest you be aware of is this:

Making the decision to AP is not just a conscious choice you make and that's the end of it; other aspects of your psyche may well have a say in this decision-making process. Your conscious self, your subconscious self, your ego, your higher self probably...you may need permission from one or more of these aspects.

This internal discussion may take an hour, a day, a week, maybe months. You can't see the discussion taking place; maybe the evidence of it is partly shown in your reaction to some of the exit sensations you are experiencing. Understand that this is an ongoing, unfolding process.

You can't see how the discussion is proceeding but you can give it some encouragement through affirmations.

Something like-

"I give myself permission to have an OBE. I know I am safe and protected. I want to go out of body."

Say it three times morning, noon and night for a week, then reword it for another week. This is a subtle yet effective form of programming/communicating with your inner selves that can come in handy at times.

I will try this and report back with results. Thanks!

Well, I believe you have the relaxed part right.
I believe it's because you're consciously aware of your body being so completely relaxed... the "lead blanket" effect it causes is interpreted by you as something on your chest (this is the source of the old hag syndrome) and as such, you begin to hyperventilate.  Just stay relaxed and trust that your body knows what it's doing.

Afterall, it has been automatically breathing for you every night of your life for as long as you have lived.  I think it knows how to breath better than you do.
Hell, you probably still breath through your chest!  ;)

That makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Focusing too much on my breathing is probably part of what throws me off.

I'm essentially an idiot.  :)
So, if you're smarter than me... and let's face it, you probably are... then you'll do it waaaaay faster!   :-D
I kinda wanted to add an observation to that point Lionheart made.

It *IS* very important... (there's also a note here for spiritual growth and losing your attachments)
For example, I've read a lot of people on this very forum who have stopped their projection attempts because they felt intense fear when they found that they couldn't breath.
Fear got the better of them.  Fear won.

If you want to project, you have to be willing to give up your very life for it... you have to be willing to risk it all against ALL YOUR COMMON SENSE.
If those people I speak about above had TRULY wanted to project, they would have TRUSTED their bodies, and against all their common sense pushed on through.
EVERYONE who goes on to great things has had to learn to LET GO of everything in order to succeed.

In the end, you will always be safe... you'll always be fine... nothing will harm you... you won't physically die.  But you do need to venture forth as if your life is worth the risk.

You never know, you might make the discovery of your lifetime and learn that you're a HELL of a lot better at this than you even know.  ;)
That's only a small part of what I've learned.

Thank you for sharing. And while the thought of "risking it all" in a sense scares the crap out of me, I know that I am safe. I read somewhere before that the inability to breath well is in part because while we sleep our bodies are relaxed to the point of not requiring as much circulation. Anyway, I'd say my intent is where it should be, but practice is key.

Some authors of AP have stated that you need to have a "mindset" that if you don't return back to your body, then so be it.

That's pretty extreme, but I can see what they mean by it. Some of the signposts can get pretty extreme. Especially the "exploding head syndrome", where you feel like your head is being pressured. I had this a couple of times and it was very difficult to ignore and just stay the course.

But, this all got better with further practice!

Ah, I understand. I find the lead blanket feeling hard to deal with. I always find it hard to breathe. I'll continue practicing!

This is what you need to work on here. You MUST be patient with this entire process.

Think of it like you are learning how to play piano or any other musical instrument. After the first week or two, how good would you be? I know I wouldn't be very good at all. I would have to listen, learn all I can and practice regularly to get better.

I'm sure you have read posts here from people, like Xanth, for instance, who say that it took them 10 years, yes that's right, 10 years to have their first conscious AP. That doesn't mean it's going to take you that long. But it goes to show you that he had the patience and perseverance to see it through and he is still here today teaching others how to do it.

You say you want to do this. But this practice takes mentally conditioning to achieve success with. You need to have an attitude that if I don't come back, then so be it. Are you ready to ALLOW that kind of sacrifice? Many aren't and so their fears still grip them. Some will catch a "sneak peek" and their excitement will shoot them back to a physical focus. Some people will just lie back and ALLOW what's going to happen to happen. These will be the ones that find quite a bit of success with conscious Aping.

That makes a lot of sense, and I had seen that it took Xanth ten years. What do you mean by "not coming back" by the way?

That's another "signpost" known as a Hypnic jerk/Hypnogogic Jerk: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk

How long have you been attempting conscious APs, Darkdog?

Honestly, only for a bit more than a week. I know I'm expecting a lot more than I deserve in a short period of time. I learned about AP a year(possibly two, I can't remember) ago, and until the summer started I had put off really trying. Now I really, really, have a strong desire to have a conscious AP. I admit that I'm not a very patient person. What has been annoying me is that I have made it very easy for myself to reach a state where I encounter all of the signposts, yet I can't get out.

Well, sadly today's attempt had no more fortune. I got two sets of vibrations, just allowed them to happen with intent in the back of my mind, and as they subsided I felt a falling sensation that jerked me awake. Oh well  :-(

Mirrors you see are a manifestation. These will bend to your suggestions, if you've read and believe something you've read then that too can manifest.
A standard mirror for me, casts no reflection, I decided this in the early 70's. It still occurs today unless I want to use it as a portal.
There is another special mirror in the darker places I've visited. It shows you the truth of what you are not what you've become. It's also a portal to many environments that are dependant upon the one looking into it.
I named it the mirror of souls, it was seen initially during my early days in the Badlands.
It apparently exists to others too in a similar way to my experiences with it.
Google it for more info. Watch out for the overly religious comments you may find.
I encountered it 40+  years ago and recently found it on a Google search.
A skrying glass is a black mirror and used in devils work. That's the info I was given when young. Typical comment for the religious people I met. It's part of the family of devices all of which are utilised in spirit communication.
I've held one and had no bad vibes from it, quite the opposite.

This has to be one of the most interesting posts I've read on here! I'll have to look into this more. Thanks for sharing.

You can do what Xanth said, focus on the rocking movement.   Imagine you are rocking more and more until you are out of your body.

Okay! I'll try that next time.

I told you, you spiritually move away from your body.   It is like your physical self moving but it is not.   If you cannot see anything, you say I can see.    You usually know when you are out of your body.

Right, well I just meant was there something that you have to do in order to spiritually move away. Do you just use your mind and have intent?
