first of all, no those weren't vibrations.  when you feel vibrations, they feel like...well...your body is vibrating up and down, but you're not actually moving.  they've become so intense for me that i've actually exited the trance state shivering.  it's like you're sitting on a giant vibrational chair :)
the white flash of light could really be a number of things.  usually when i'm meditating, i tend to come across three different variations, and hopefully what you experienced is one of the three
1.) pulsing white rings from my third eye - these are usually at about 5 second intervals, and they float off into the distance without effect.  i used to think they weren't anything except trying to hard, but i think they're a prelude to further achievements
2.) swirling and bright white light, perhaps with patterns or colors - this is what i get directly before i project.  the light comes from the third eye, or simply swirls around in my visual field.  sometimes patterns appear instead, and yesterday the light actually took on figure forms.  after about 30 seconds, astral sight tends to set in
3.) sometimes i'll be laying there in the dark and all of a sudden the room will seem to get much brighter, and then fade back down again.  this sounds like what you experienced, and i don't really have any theories on it.  it's never helped me project, but it's always a nice feeling
of course, yesterday i saw a big blob of white light just out of nowhere, and it was the size of gigantic dinner plate, but this didn't end up doing anything for me
hope i answered your questions!

i'm going to say yes, you do need real-time sight to project into the real-time zone.  i would imagine if you were projecting into the higher astral planes that you wouldn't necessarily need it, but anyone can feel free to make me look wrong :).  i wasn't ever able to project until a few days ago, and it always starts off with being able to see through my eyelids before exiting the body - i mean, you have to have some sense of direction and reality, right?

describe it more...hmmm
well i pretty much lay down, and i have no problems letting all the muscles in my body be loose (after meditating for about 8 months, it comes naturally).  i let myself drift into a trance state, and don't move at all. during the trance, i either just stare into the depths of my eyes (poetic justice!) or make visualizations.  i usually have trance playing in the background, but i can meditate just fine without any music or with loud noise.  i'll feel myself start to sway, and i just focus on the meditation rather than projecting.  most of the time i'll drift in and out of sleep, and when i project i'll manage to bring myself enough out of it to see the white light swirling in front of my eyes.  at this point, i just concentrate on the light until i gain astral vision, which is usually after about a minute (this i actually pay attention to).  after i get astral vision, it's usually just a matter of seconds before i drift out - but don't rush this, because i did today and i ended up having dual perspectives, getting disoriented, and not being able to get far enough away because i couldn't move :)

yea except in this case, i really didn't have a lot to back up my case for some reason.  he tried to use the whole "you know if something's true, whether you believe it or not, it's going to happen" (in reference to hell) - i guess i kind of froze and didn't really know how to defend myself, and ended up being invaded.  he kept referring to the bible and all i had was this huge collection of books to my right hehe.  stupid converters :)

i like the posts earlier saying that you can't believe everything you read.  i remember early on i had a big fear of possessions while projecting because of stuff i read, and also read a lot of different theories on how to project.  through all this, i honestly i wish i had just read Bruce's book and then gone at it without asking anyone how, but just seeing how i was progressing.  Therefore, I think the physical/metaphysical analogy is pretty dead on - we don't know if it extends into astral, and if it does the people that have tried to enter one can't tell us.  personally, i wouldn't dare enter one, and i don't think it's worth taking chances like that even if they do turn out to be ok.  it's not worth risking your life, astral or physical or both, just to prove something.  whoever said that you could stand outside and watch other astral beings go into it had the right idea.  however, just because i say that doesn't mean you can't go ahead and try - i mean, reading everyone's theories on what "could" happen is pretty nerve-racking, and now i'm thinking about what if i accidently project to one the next time i get out?  it's that kind of negative encouragement that is a restriction on projecting, and i encourage no one to take everything they hear about OBE's to heart.  everyone experiences it different, and there are a million different ways to project.  perhaps if you projected a certain way or into a certain astral plane, the black hole wouldn't affect you.  or maybe it doesn't matter how you project, who knows.  i could go on with more theories, but i don't honestly have an opinion either way.  the point of this post is to let you know not to listen to everything you hear.  i'm pretty sure i rambled a lot as well, so sorry for that :)

your problem is probably that you're trying to pull yourself out
i've had a decent amount of experiences where i think i can physically "move" myself out of my body, and i always ended up failing or just moving my physical self.  my suggestion is next time, let yourself fall into a deep trance, and just focus on the meditation itself rather than trying to force out.  i think the main trick to projecting is to not focus on the projection itself.  use your mind to get out, and thought/force to move away after you're out.  the reason i don't think pulling or forcing works is because you're almost physically moving, and you need to be bodily asleep for everything to go right.  i hope this helps, sorry if it's gibberish :)

i get the "sinus headache" feeling about 50 percent of the time myself, and occasionally when i'm falling asleep but not meditating.  i don't actually focus on chakra development, but it's nice to know it's a side effect :)

TorosDead is right - simply remaining neutral is the perfect method of OBE.  Of course, i've been trying for about 8 months now and i'm just reaching the point of being able to remain neutral (and i was naturally able to almost project as well).  I'm not going to throw more advice at you because the last thing you want is to be overloaded with info when you first start, i know it happened to me.  Just be careful about not moving your physical body, and just letting everything happen as it should.
It sounds like the "full body orgasm" feeling was probably a rush of energy that often happens during meditations and projection attempts.  Completely normal.  I think everyone has something in their sessions that feels extremely good to them, and the rushing energy through your body might be that thing for you.
Overall, that does sound like a good first attempt, and don't let anything stand in your way from achieving a projection.  Don't take everything you hear about the process to heart :)

good point dino - i usually always get the white pulsing rings from my third eye, but this was different than that.  even though i was still in my body, it could have been part of the cord.  it was pure white light, so my guess is as good as yours.  either that or, as i said in my explanation, it could've been part of the patterns or bright light that seem to surface around the time of exit

uhhhh alright...
i just posted what i already had
with a warning that it was from my astral journal
sure i could've taken 10 more minutes but this works fine i think

as a visualization exercize once, i managed to escape earth and keep going, past all the planets and into the depths of space.  granted, this could have been a projection - but either way, it was an amazing experience.  one time i just floated in between earth and mars soaking up universal energy, which was also quite interesting, especially trying to imagine what dead space would feel like.  keep in mind that i'm not sure if i've ever projected, so i tell both of these stories as though they could be visualizations or actual projections.

fredhedd it kinda sounds like what i had.  i could clearly visualize the person in a particular experience, and it left some odd side effects that i won't go into lol.  but the woman in my dreams was my friend, only like 10 times more erotic.  the entire situation i think left me shaking, and yea i did have a pretty intense orgasm, and it was during a trance

i'm not responding to answer your question, unfortunately, but i've had this happen to me before.  There was no possible way this person could know these things about me (i won't go into detail).  However, I will say this - block the guy, and don't talk to him anymore.  I'm assuming this is over the net - if it's not, just try to avoid him.  I'm not really sure what else to say - in my situation, just changing some minor actions stopped the "stalking" and I haven't heard from the person again

lol i just figured this post was going to get lost in the midst of the rest, but i came back more than a week later to see that my post was still in the top 10 - go team!  and thanks for all your advice - i managed to pick up a copy of psychic self defense and it's a really good read

I don't ever feel vibrations
I don't know if that's wrong or not but
I projected the other night but now i'm starting to question that
I always get to a stage where I'm laying in my body, and it doesn't feel like any more visualization is necessary, but i'm stuck there anyway
are vibrations required to project?  what am i not doin right?
i'm getting all the other signs of a projection, even being able to hear myself breathe directly into my ear :)

It was really hard to ignore the vibes coming off that guy - I tried acting disinterested and it only made matters worse lol
i'm thinking of picking up a copy of psychic self defense tho - if anything, this experience has taught me to be cautious, especially when traveling to regions unknown

yea i think I've had the full blown 3d experience before once - it was weird, because this was flat but that was just like, i knew it was definitely an OBE/Astral projection - i hope to have more in the future, and i look forward to more meditation :)

I used to have a job as a porn star, and to this very day I still know how to ... i don't think it's appropriate, actually ;)!

I used to have a job as a magician, and to this very day I still know how to pull rabbits out of my a**!
