Welcome to Metaphysics! / Ouija Board
October 18, 2003, 00:34:00
A tool is a tool.
A telephone can't get through if it isn't answered, a ouija board can't be a link if it isn't in use... no more than anything else can, at any rate.

Welcome to Magic! / consecrating altar tools
October 17, 2003, 14:46:20
Actually, consecrate means to make sacred.
[;)]
For simple cleansing, there are several ways... basically using the elements.
Running water, burying in Earth, salt is a purifyer as well, passing through flame, leaving out for Moon and Sun to irradiate.

which you use depends on what you want cleansed, of course, and do be careful with stones; a friend cleansed a selenite(?) wand in salt water and destroyed the finish.

Use intent when you're doing it, whichever course you choose, for best results... but the elements themselves will do the trick whether we want them to or not.
[;)]

To consecrate, speak your charm or prayer during or after the cleansing.

Welcome to Magic! / The Pooka
October 17, 2003, 09:50:41
Then it's a problem of terminology.
The name 'Pooka' has been taken from it's original or common meaning and given a new age interpretation.
The Pooka is an established figure from myth/folklore, here's a straight link;

My Elders said that a tool is a tool and it depends on the hands it is in.
[;)]

Although I'd still say it'd be worth a try to use a pendulum or rods with it, if only because I've always had better luck with a pendulum than a planchet, and maybe you will too.
[;)]
I'm in the middle of reading a treatise on pendulum use here on site, you might be interested in it too, as it's kinda related; http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/portal_articles.asp?catid=16&cattitle=New

Celeste's advice seems sound, but I think that if the 3rd from the left is blue/bluish-gray, it's probably sodalite.
The reddish brown one is, I think, jasper and the orange beside it might also be carnelian... I hadn't thought of it being orange calcite, because that's so much more expensive than carnelian but you could be right. I don't think it'd be citrine, 'cause citrine is (usually) more translucent than this one seems.
Black tourmaline is also more expensive than either onyx or obsidian.

Every Chakra kit I can remember has had common, inexpensive stones in it, though it's quite possible you've got the exception.
[;)].

Tortue... do you have a local shop that sells the individual stones?
If so, try going and comparing your stones... it's much easier to tell in person.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / SEX!!!!!!!!!!!
October 16, 2003, 19:59:11
<grin>
Well... I sat my kids down (and very uncomfortable they were, too, heheh) when they were in their teens and had The Talk with them... actually several talks, but there ya go [;)]... and I taught them when and how to use a condom and supplied them with a box on the bathroom counter.
I'm pretty sure more condoms went over the bridge filled with water than were "properly" used, none got STD's or unwanted pregnancies, and all have a healthy respect for the opposite sex.
I thought perhaps they might have been embarrassed to use them for fear I would know, but they're grown up now and they tell me no, they just didn't have sex except in those few monogomous relationships they had - 2 for my son and one for my daughter.
I had managed to convince them that sex was more than just fun, and the condoms didn't go to waste - even the ones that went over the bridge.

One of the effects of marijuana is loss of focus and attention span.
I've found that trying to do any aura or chakra work while under the influence tends to get side-tracked and/or ends up poorly done.

(I'm old, with a wonderfully mis-spent youth.[:P])

Actually, Tisha, I finally have something to disagree with you on.
[;)]
Do not carry your condoms in your wallet, the compression tends to break down the rubber/latex 'cause most men carry their wallets in their pocket and thus sit on it.

Fat_Turkey, with all due respect, you're wrong.
Africa is home to something like 70 - 80% of all AIDS/HIV cases.
Television and media are not responsible there, neither is sex education.
Ignorance is.
Knowledge is power, and ignorance isn't bliss.

And while it may have been close, many Nations have retained enough of their culture and Spirit to be far from assimilated.

Who is Nigel Heavens?
I'm unclear what exactly you mean by "channels", but that may just be a communication gap.

tsk tsk
Your question was answered before you asked... you would know that if you were less eager to practice your goading and more concerned with the knowledge you feign to seek.

You seem threatened by my lack of wisdom... actually, from reading your replies to others, followed by your behaviour here, you appear to be threatened by women... are you worried about being Dis-illusioned?
[:D]
don't worry, be happy.

To prove your superiority?

Sneer away, if it helps you bolster at all.

Welcome to Magic! / The Pooka
October 16, 2003, 14:30:22
I read the site.
quote:
pooka is a small imp-like, mischevious creatures, about 15 centimetres tall when fully grown. The oldest pooka I know of lived to 152 years, which is quite amazing, and I've been told that some are even older.
The Pookas came over to Britain with the invading Saxons around 450AD to get away from the land in which they were being hunted as lucky charms. Now you see, pookas, however wiley, are very lazy. So they travelled with the Saxon imigrants across land and sea in order to make full use of their oblivious companions' rubbish (the strangest things can come in rather useful, not to mention the fact that pookas like nothing better than new born weevils and maggots for their tea... mmm).
Unfortunately all the pookas that were left behind have long since died out, but the British climate is just right for them and they have thrived. Pookas live all over the British Isles. They can't swim because their legs are too short, and until quite recently (when the ferry came into use) there were no pookas on the Isle of Whight at all.
To begin with, travelling was fine, but when they reached a place that is now known as Ruddington, near Nottingham, they decided to settle. The mixture of climate and perfect solil for their dens was just what they were after, and to this day, the highest concentration of pookas is right there in Ruddington, living in back gardens, churchyards and the country park.

I saw nothing about them being manufactured by spell... all information I've ever gotten about Pookas points to them being a species of Fey, not a construct.
Perhaps there's a mis-communication because of the name, though.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Ouija Board
October 16, 2003, 10:27:14
Well, you can access good entities with a Ouija, but you generally don't get to pick who you talk to when you use one, you open yourself to whoever or whatever happens to be available, watching, or near.

I would think that a pendulum could be taken over by a neg, but just because anything is possible.

When I use the pendulum, it feels like an extension of myself, whereas with a Ouija you're specifically calling out to spirits or entities to answer your questions.
Perhaps it's as simple as the perception of accessing eterior or interior for answers.

I've asked some Elders their opinion on this, though, and I'll let you know what they have to say, if anything interesting beyond what the great minds of this place have to offer.

Welcome to Magic! / Astral Symbols
October 16, 2003, 09:34:07
Nagual, no disrespect intended, and it might be a communication error, but you seem to be missing my point.
Doing without the use of symbols is your absolute choice, and I do understand that you're talking about the deliberate usage, like in meditation and whatnot.

I also hear what you're saying, that people can easily beleive what they want, and if what they want to beleive is that they can't cross the street safely without their lucky rabbit foot tucked safely inside their left shoe... then they're likely to "jinx" themselves without it... create a false dependancy.

I agree. However, the point (one of them) that I was trying to make is that even when we decide to forgo their usage, symbols can and do influence us, and unless we actively explore our reactions (or lack of reaction) to them they will still influence us, perhaps in unusual and hidden ways... there are tons of every-day symbols that affect you without your active permission, because it needs your active efforts to negate their influence.

Alongside that is, when a symbol is actively used, as in meditation and such, we need to have real information of the meaning and nuances of that symbol because while the surface may seem clear and straight-forward, there might be unknown (or unwanted) depths to it.

Good discussion, not meaning to drag it out, though... sorry if it appears that way.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Ouija Board

If it helps at all, I agree fully with both James and Tisha... stay away from that sort of divination.
If you really want to go that route use a pendulum with the board, at least you're accessing your own higher self that way and not just inviting any old neg who feels like it to come hang out in you.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Tarot Spreads
October 15, 2003, 23:32:10
The Celtic Cross spread is standard, and should be included in your little booklet that came with your deck.

A 3 card draw is good for getting insight.

A quickie spread is;
Centre card, the querent
Below that, family
To the left, friends
Above the centre, love/romance
To the right of centre, work/finances.
Try to put each one into a single sentence, telling a story of the complete reading.

A good Tarot site is http://www.wicce.com/tarot.html
She has lots of spread descriptions, as well as other information.

Reiki energy is Pure.
You can't use it for "impure" practices or thoughts, it just won't work, it won't flow.
Reiki does not judge, it is Love.
Best not to try to place human morals or judgements on it, all that does is try to contain Universal Energy within human parameters... a frail fence at best.
[;)]

The best thing to do is to use your Reiki, every which way you can.

I have my Reiki II and am working towards my Master.
