Adrian,
I was only commenting in reference to the bible in which Allanon is fond of quoting. I'm fairly new to the spirit world outside of mainstream religion and don't have much experience with the astral in general but I'm learning.[:)]

Yep, looks pretty bad when passages are used out of context of the message. God will punish his children for their disobedience like any parent should punish their child for disobedience. We correct our children out of love. It is man's pride (ego) that leads to disobedience and putting his will above God's. Love of anything or anyone more than God is disodedience. By the time Revelation speaks of, God has lost his patience with mankind.

goinslow,
If I sounded like I was preaching, I apologize. My comments are my views and were not meant to step on anyone's toes. I don't know everything and am fairly new (about a year) to this spiritual stuff outside mainstream religion. I've always resented anyone trying to shove something down my throat. I totally disagree with Allanon's methods and hope people realize not all Christians force it on others as he/she has tried.

goingslow,
If it were another religion it would not be an issue and it wouldn't be a news item.

There are biggots and hippocrites in all religions, it's not just a christian thing, it's human nature. You seem bent on blaming Christians for everything. I stay in church and follow christianity because the root of Christ's teaching is love. It's also the reason I'm interested in the astral. I don't let people get in the way of my spiritual growth. I understand people leave the church and christianity because someone treated them in a way they shouldn't have been. I've seen it, it's happened where I attend. You have to step back and realize their heart ain't right (the offender) and move on. Love them anyway.

fallen,
I see, you see "respecting an establishment of religion" as "paying homage to" or "Congress shall make no law honoring an establishment of religion". I see it as "Congress shall make no law concerning an establishment of religion". This is the meaning I have always gone by because it makes more sense to me in the context of the document. If they had intended the way you're saying why did they hold prayer sessions during congress on numererous occassions? The evidence is in congress' own records which are available to the public.  A lot of the founders were Christian. Though they weren't perfect, they held a vision that those to come after them would be better. The sticking point seems to be the context definition of "Respecting". I do see where you're coming from now but I still stand by my view. Any english teacher's here?

An aftertought, "respecting an ESTABLISHMENT of religion" not "respecting a religion". To me it still doesn't fit. Establishment of religion = officially sanctioned religion (for lack of better words).

A basic assumption is that Christians are perfect and don't make mistakes. They are not. They make mistakes and go through troubling times. They have problems and bad habits. Just because you do wrong does not mean you're no longer Christian. It just means satan got the best of you that time. Fact is Christians grow spiritually at different rates just like anyone else and none are infailable.

Novice,
I see your point. Towards your point, Judges, and for that matter, lawyers are supposed to lay aside personal feelings and deal only with the word of the law. Does that happen all the time? No. I personally see no problem with something in his chambers but I feel it's inappropriate in the courtroom. I believe we cannot legislate morality hence my stance against making abortion illegal (its a moral issue and another can-o-worms I don't want to open right now). If the 10C are this judge's moral compass then he should be allowed to have them. Its a two edged sword. That's another form of religious descrimination. We have to rely on the rules that govern him while performing his duties to conduct those duties appropriately. That's life, we have to trust those with the responsibility and if they abuse it, remove them from the position. Just because the potential exists does not mean others can infringe on his rights. Where do we draw the line?

" I must agree with no_leaf_clover and goingslow. The government is suppose to remain separate from religion."

No where in the Constitution does it say seperation of church and state. The constitution states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." For 150 years it meant the government cannot dictate what religion you must adhere to. Then all of a sudden, someone with an agenda decides it means religion has no place in government. BS! No matter what your religious beliefs, this country was founded on Christian principles with government and religion existing together. To me it means, plain and simple, that the government can't tell me what religion to follow or interfere with my worship. That's it.

Suite Madame Blue - Styx
Written by Dennis DeYoung
Lead vocals by Dennis DeYoung
Time after time I sit and I wait for your call
I know I'm a fool but why can I say
Whatever the price I'll pay for you, Madame Blue
Once long ago, a word from your lips and the world turned around
But somehow you've changed, you're so far away
I long for the past and dream of the days with you, Madame Blue

Suite Madame Blue, gaze in your looking glass
You're not a child anymore
Suite Madame Blue, the future is all but past
Dressed in your jewels, you made your own rules
You conquered the world and more ..............heaven's door

America....America...America..America..
America....America...America..America..
America....America...America..America..

Red white and blue, gaze in your looking glass
You're not a child anymore
Red, white, and blue, the future is all but past
So lift up your heart, make a new start
And lead us away from here

Interpretation
Suite Madame Blue is about the decline of America told using the analogy of a woman. It was written as a wake up call in 1975 as the American Bicentennial approached. Note the line "You conquered the world and more...heaven's door" referring to America's accomplishment of landing a man on the moon in 1969. The theme of this song was revived in 1980 as the basis of the concept behind the Paradise Theatre album.

HAVE YOU EVER REALLY LOVED A WOMAN ? (Bryan Adams)
To really love a woman
To understand her
You gotta know her deep inside
Hear every thought
See every dream
And give her wings when she wants to fly
And when you find yourself
Lying helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman
When you love a woman
You tell her that she's really wanted
When you love a woman
You tell her that she's the one
She needs somebody
To tell her that it's gonna last forever
So tell me have you ever really
Really really ever loved a woman
To really love a woman
Let her hold you
Do you know how she needs to be touched ?
You gotta breath her
Really taste her
To you can feel her in your blood
Then when you can see your unborn children in her eyes
You know you really love a woman
When you love a woman
You tell her that she's really wanted
When you love a woman
You tell her that she's the one
She needs somebody
To tell her that you'll always be together
So tell me have you ever really
Really really ever loved a woman
You got to give her some faith
Hold her tight
A little tenderness
You gotta treat her right
She'll be there for you
Taking good care of you
You really gotta love your woman

Like I said 6 pages ago, Allanon, You're being judgemental.

I recently finished a two year study of the bible. I accept it as the word of God. We found many inconsistancies in translation of words which could affect interpretation. Also I'm convinced there is information that has been left out by those wanting to serve their own purpose. To say that the above did not happen is to say the holocaust didn't happen. There are too many crossreferences between many of the books to say that the book has no merit. The bible is not an easy book to understand, people spend their whole life trying. To dismiss it as fiction, to me, is ludicrous. No one even mentioned the most obvious (to me) example of OBE/AP was John's vision of Christ's revelation in the book of Revelation. He was truly having an astral experience. Does God not want us to AP? He gave us free will, we could do it for bad if we choose or we can use it for good (loving, helping and taking care of others).
Remember the ten commandments in everything you do.

I only have a few words on this. I'm a Christian and attend a good size Church of the Nazarene. I believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I believe that all things are possible with God. Christianity teaches this but has trouble accepting the "ALL" part. Why is it so hard? Christianity and the Bible, I believe, were tainted, from the time the Romans made Christianity the state religion and also through medieval times as kings dictated the translation of books and scrolls. Martin Luther disregarded the book of Revelation altogether (I was raised Lutheran). God gave man free will so why is it so hard to accept that man, for ulterior motives, altered the word. Man has disobeyed God since Adam and Eve. We are also taught to glorify God in all we do. I'm not justifying anything here but if our heart is right and we use these experiences and skills for good and to his glory then I believe there is nothing wrong here. It's when we have the "Love" of money, or career, or AP, or sports where it becomes more important than God, that it becomes a tool of the devil. We are eternal beings, that is in the bible.

Allanon,
I see a lot of judgement in your post. FWIW, Love as Jesus did.

I enjoyed traveling and exploring in the past, though I don't get to do much now, and I'd like to do more astral traveling and exploring. Traveler fit better than explorer or adventurer and it just sounds good to me.

Sorry for the double post, when I submit it goes to a blank page. I guess I have to go to favorites and get back to the homepage.
