I get have a song in my head at all times, so it's natural for me that some of the songs I get in my head might coincidentally come on the radio soon afterwards; but the other night at work, it happened 4 times.  That was a big against the odds.
The only other thing I notice is that I sometimes get a sense of what people close to me are feeling, even if they're not with me at the time.
As for heredity, it beats me, this isn't usually talked about in my family.  I don't come from a particularly spiritual background.

Hello Ginny, thanks for sharing this experience (I love accounts of retrievals), and welcome!

I figure I'll just throw my 2ยข in here:
I took it for a month or so to try to increase my concentration (it was said to have properties similar to gingko in that way), but it didn't work (possibly I wasn't taking it long enough or in high enough doses) so I stopped.  If you're worried about affecting your body with "drugs", don't worry; you'll probably be lucky to feel anything at all.

John Edward says the same thing regarding vibrational rate of the living versus the dead, and how we have to speed our rate up to communicate with them (and vice-versa).  He says the two big ways to do that are prayer and meditation, which he does before his sessions.
I'm not sure how eye movement relates to this type of vibration, but if it does indeed raise it then it only makes sense that one would become even more sensitive to "the other side" when using it.

Every time I have sleep paralysis, it's upon waking from a dream (or what I assume are dreams, they're always pretty surreal).  So I'm never 100% there, and I get scared instinctively.  It's worse lately since so many of my dreams are nightmares (it happened twice last night, a nightmare followed by paralysis).  Also, when I get what I assume are vibrations, my ears don't just ring, they scream.
So I wake up scared, but I'm not totally back to reality, plus I can't hear, and I can't move.  Naturally it disturbs me.

If he typed it all, he wouldn't have repeated some quotes two or three times.
As for my own sanity, I "only" read about 3/4 of it (but I can only laugh so much in a given time frame, and besides, my brain hurts now).
I'll finish the rest later.  I left off at the thingie about Urkle. http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_dead.gif" border=0>

Bob Vila was on This Old House several years ago, but they canned him after he started doing Sears commercials.  I don't know the name of the guy who does it these days, and I also think Bob Vila is doing a different show now (Home Again?  That sounds familiar).

But back to the topic:  I'm new to "sending energy" but I'll do what I can, Tisha.http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

Fascinating, John!

I have 2 or 3 other experiences I'd like to share in this catagory but I have to go home from work, (nice job, huh?!). If you are interested, I will be glad to share!

Please do!
I've recently become interested in Past Lives myself, because I wonder about phobias (etc.) that myself and friends have, and because sometimes when I watch a Discovery channel program on ancient civilizations, I just get the feeling that it's so familiar to me.  But alas, I live out in "Amish Country" (conservative, rural section of PA), so there's no one out here that I'm aware of that does past life regressions.
quote:
The fear of thunder and the rememberance of this silly behavior as a kid, remembered and GONE!

If some of my problems (or more likely, a few key ones of family & friends) are due to past-life trauma, it would be great if the healing is so complete.  Unfortunately, my problems caused by traumas suffered in this life are still with me, despite having discovered their source.
Maybe problems can have multiple, identical sources, from multiple lives?  Maybe, our last time around, we didn't learn our lessons but still got scarred, and now our life is taking the same path to teach us what we missed before?  Hmm.

I think it was mainly a knee-jerk reaction to the title of his post more than anything else.  In it, he wasn't just being pessimistic, he was saying that for some [actually, for most] that OBE was impossible.  And here's why it's impossible for you.  Implication?  Just give it up right now.
There's certainly a place for staying realistic, and I appreciate lots of the discussion that's happened in this thread.  But it started on the wrong foot I think because it was pessimistic to the point of being untrue (as I believe the consensus is that even the "65%" with brainwaves that aren't naturally conducive to trance can still learn to achieve trance, with practice).

Thanks, I'll definitely check that out!
(P.S. - that site name sounded familiar, and I just realized why - someone signed me up for daily spam from them once, and I couldn't figure out how to get off their list, so I blocked their address.  So just to be on the safe side, I don't plan to actually sign up with them, I hope they let you browse articles w/o it!)

Personal thought, put a check on your emotions when that happens, as you are heading down at that moment.

Yes, I'm aware at those times that I'm not "vibrating" in a good way. http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_blackeye.gif" border=0>
In that way it's been a good phenomenon.  I just had no idea that the chakras (esp. the "higher" ones) would react to those kind of "base" emotions.

Anyway, having a mood disorder makes it difficult to fully control these episodes, but at least this early-warning system makes me notice it before I've brooded over the issues for too long.  I wish I wasn't exposed to such constant stress, but maybe it's part of some grand scheme to get me to develop "thicker skin."

quote:
Call this power what you will, kundalini, the Holy Spirit or whatever you are most comfortable with.

I understand that people from different religious backgrounds would call the same thing by different names, but from everything I've read on kundalini, it's not something that can be mistaken for anything else.  I don't think anyone would say that the "Holy Spirit" could cause you physical pleasure or pain, but that's a common theme expressed by people who've had kundalini awakened (along with, of course, the spiritual feelings).  That comparison confused me a little and got me thinking that maybe we're talking about two different things.  If the type of kundalini you're talking about isn't like the kind discussed in the other big thread on kundalini, maybe the below doesn't apply, in which case forgive me and ignore it.

quote:
Perhaps our greatest personal belonging is free will.
...
But if a person is not spiritually minded and not wanting to practive the advanced spiritual abilities that come with it, then all must be considered. Choose with your own free will.

I believe that, for myself, I'm not ready for it yet.  Partly because I need to prepare physically (it seems one has an easier time of it if one has good "grounding" skills), but also because I believe I'm not emotionally mature enough to handle something as big as that.  But will everyone know whether or not they're ready?  Sure, it's their own "free will" to choose whatever they want, but if that choice isn't an informed one, they can't be wholly responsible for the consequences.
Here's the best analogy I can come up with:  There's a place where people gather to talk about their insomnia.  Then someone comes into the room and sets up a table with free sleeping pills, with the instructions "Take them to get some sleep if you want, but don't take more than you can handle".  Most people take one or two and are fine.  But some people say, "I've got insomnia really bad, I'd better take five," and get liver damage.  One guy who's been drinking heavily takes 3 and dies (Who knew they'd interact?  No one said anything.)  Some kids think they're candy and eat some, and some of those kids never develop properly.
It's just a stupid analogy, but you get the idea; one shouldn't provide potentially harmful material without knowing who will get it and how they'll use it.

Sorry if I've offended anyone here, I just don't want anyone to get hurt at the expense of others' spiritual growth.

Is it wise to have Kundalini "induced"?
Shouldn't it happen more-or-less naturally when you're "ready" for it?

Welcome to the Healing place! / Maoli's Message
October 30, 2002, 17:54:54
Although I never knew Maoli-chan, I still feel like I connected with her in some small way while she was here, just from reading about her treatment and seeing those pictures.  I looked at those pictures often and prayed as well as I could for her.
I've cried a few times since I heard the news, as I'm sure most everyone else reading this has.  We all feel the loss, and we probably all wonder if we could've changed the outcome if we'd just prayed harder or more often, or sent more energy, or whatever.
But at the same time, I know she's in a better place now.  This past year was surely no fun for her (not talking because of the trach tube, not being able to run around like all toddlers do, etc), and to some extent she's better off where she is.  Those who watch John Edward will know he often talks about how those who have passed don't miss us, because to miss someone means you don't have them, and since they can still see us and be part of our lives, they don't feel that.  We, however, miss them terribly.

I will continue to pray for Maoli as she gets aquainted with her new home, and I'll pray for the comfort of those of her family left behind, as they continue to live their lives for whatever purposes God has for them here.

re: Galvanic skin response...

I remember seeing a TV program on ghosts/etc, where this one woman had all kinds of weird things happen in her house (mostly poltergeists, but stranger things too), and they found that 1) Her house was on a leyline [see the "voices and wetness thread"];  2) Her brain was capable of going into deeply-relaxed mode very quickly (they had her hooked up to an EEG), and when she did her Galvanic Skin Response measured zero.

I didn't realize the two were more-or-less interchangable, they just mentioned the two factors so I thought it was a coincidence.

Sounds like a decent idea for getting you out the first time.  Once you have that boost in confidence, then get some sleep and try it more naturally.  http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

Same for me as with MartyD and Paukki:  Confirm that I'm out and then get back in ASAP, with the knowledge that this is real and I can do this.

Tom:
quote:
Zen meditation is usually done with the eyes open, and over time they develop alpha frequencies with the eyes open.

It's actually much easier for me to "picture" something with my eyes open, I've always assumed that this was unusual because people always say to "Close your eyes and imagine..."
The standing meditation I like to do is an eyes-open one, too.
Maybe I should just start from there; who says I have to have my eyes open for meditation / projection?
quote:
I tend to sit in the alpha no matter how deeply I relax. Either that or I fall asleep. Hypnagogic imagery is highly unusual to me.

Ditto.
I guess I'll have to try to be one of the "65%".  Not that I necessarily believe that number or that it's as hard to train the brain as some may think.

They're both sides of human nature with regards to money.  They assume you have the same values as them, and wouldn't give away anything of value. But what confuses me is, it's not like by "giving away" an attunement you actually lose anything, so their argument about it not having value doesn't make sense.
The only reason I wouldn't take you up on such an offer at this time is my lack of trust in outside energy sources.  I'd love to learn to heal, but only with my own energy (even at the expense of my own health).  Maybe somewhere down the road, when I have a better understanding of what reiki is, I would trust it, and then I'll certainly let you know. http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

I seem to recall reading that ley lines can sort-of dimensionally "link" the places along that leyline, so even if nothing eventful ever happened in your house, if there's another house further along the ley that something did happen in, that it might affect yours.  Or, there was speculation that perhaps the leyline was just causing a fluctuation in time & space so that the voices/bumps you're hearing are really yours but from another time.  (i.e., maybe you are talking with your father in the kitchen, even when you're not home).

Also, I've heard it's not healthy to sleep over a ley line.  Someone posted awhile back about the "Holy Hand Grenade" device that purifies energies (link: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1779 - page 2), and the link they gave (http://www.metatech.org/cloudbuster_&_orgone_generator.html) suggested that over a ley line would be a great spot to put one.

I do know I sense a little extra nudge in my brain when my will pushes some mental words into spoken ones. (Sometimes there's a long pause between the two because I need to gather the mental strength for that final push - do you know what I mean?  Like my mind is saying "Is this worth the effort to say out loud?")
Anyway, maybe for some people, that extra effort (same as "intent") is enough to push them over the edge in something (like OBE).  For others, maybe not. *shrug*

It's much easier to talk yourself into/out-of something if you do it out loud.  "I will ask my boss for a raise!."  "I don't need another piece of cake!"

I just wanted to say:  The kinds of things talked about in this thread are exactly what I aspire to.  I want to be more "aware", I want to heal, I want to make people aware that there's more to this life than meets the eye.
That's all, carry on.  http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

Lots of great comments here.  This is something I've thought about as well...
I've pretty much disregarded the TMI approach because I can't afford it.  But also, what James said about how RB's approach of doing what he does for humanity's benefit make me appreciate anything he comes up with, regardless of which methods may be more "advanced".  Also, like Tia, I raise energy for all the other reasons as well (my own health, possibly healing others, and I'm sure there are more).
As for the money issue: I understand that everyone needs to make a living, and even writing an e-book costs money (time spent in writing it).  The issue to me is how much of a profit people are making and whether the money is their main motive.  And I don't know these answers, so I reserve judgement in this area.
Oh, one good thing that comes from charging for something:  Since everyone values money to some extent, and has a limited supply of it, it becomes a way to judge how important something is to someone.  So, for example:  Even though one can argue that Reiki attunements should be passed on for free (since they cost nothing to provide and they advance humanity), but then, if you make it free, everyone would want it, including people who have no intention of ever using it.  By tying money to it (just a little), you can make sure that only those seriously interested apply.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / dentistophobia
October 23, 2002, 13:05:21
I had the same thing; after two consecutive hellish experiences from my old dentist, I developed the same "phobia" and stopped going to the dentist for quite a few years until I had some teeth positively rotted away.
Eventually I only agreed to go back to a dentist that gave Nitrous Oxide ("laughing gas") beforehand.  Though insurance doesn't cover it, it's only about $50.  It doesn't make you as out-of-it as I'd thought (and hoped) it would, but it makes you slightly disconnected from what's going on as if you're half-awake and floating, just enough to take the edge off.  That, combined with basic meditation stuff [and of course, Novocain] got me through it.  After I realized how little the Nitrous did, and when I realized that I could have a good outcome from the dentist, I can now get work done without any problems (and without the Nitrous).   For those who've done any meditation, it's surprisingly easy to blank/focus your mind to ignore the prying hands and buzzing drills.  http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_wink.gif" border=0>
