When it happens it feels extremely easy and completely natural.  That was the impression I came away from my first short-lived spontaneous projection with, completely natural.  I suppose I had expected it to feel somehow unnatural because it was something I'd been trying so hard to do.

Hm.  It still doesn't show me anybody waiting for approval.  I changed the setting so maybe now it will work right.  Can everybody who tried to join try again? And anybody else who wants to join too.  Here's the link again.  http://lotterygroup.groupbox.com

Sorry

Counting you phxsun, 4 people have said they're in: Lexy, G.Blaze, phxsun, uhsumdumboy.  So including me that's 5.  No one has applied to join the groupbox though and that's how I was trying to organize our effort.  But maybe the site has a glitch or I just looked at it wrong.  Did any of you four try to join?

QuoteEnergy feels pretty real to me when I'm doing energy work in a normal waking mind state.

QuoteCould you tell me briefly what your energy work entails? thx.

It's basically Robert Bruce's NEW exercise.  I started at my feet several months ago and only proceeded further up my body as I became able to feel sensation there.  Now I do a full body circuit most every day.  It takes 20-30 minutes.  The technique is learned by touch.  Touch a part of your body and really pay attention to the sensation, then try to recreate that same sensation from memory without touching.  It's called tactile imaging and teaches you how to move your awareness/focus around in your body.  Moving the point of focus around stimulates the energy body.  As my point of focus is moving through my body I feel a mild...I don't really know what else to call it except energy, at that point.  I have to go slow and hold my focus to feel it.  Sometimes I feel spontaneous energy rushes which are stronger than the feelings I get while doing energy work, and sometimes a constant sensation in a specific random place will last several days.

QuoteHmmmm... I don't think this will work. Will that belief negatively impact the group's performance?

I think that it would.  Just wait until we start to earn money so your belief will change, and then join the group.

Energy feels pretty real to me when I'm doing energy work in a normal waking mind state.  I don't know how it affects AP but I think it probably does.  I don't think you should be too concerned with it for projection's sake though.  That's more of a mental thing.

Awesome :) Join the groupbox group and when we've got 10 or more people we can start.  Strange; I thought recruiting volunteers for this experiment would go faster, especially here.  Haha

QuoteJarrod what do you mean mind blank how do you do this sort of meditation?

No-mind meditation just means to quiet the mind, stop thinking.  It's very simple but many find it very difficult to quiet their mind, make it go blank.  The first thing to stop is surface thoughts like internal monologue, then recognize more subtle thoughts and stop them, like thoughts which don't take the form of words like wondering how long it's going to take or thinking about yesterday or tomorrow or that you'd like to scratch that itch.  The goal is to completely stop the mind and still be aware.  When I use it to put myself to sleep though I hold my mind blank but don't try to stay consciously focused.

QuoteI wonder if there is some-sort of meditation that causes sleep.

There certainly is, for me at least.  Unfortunately it also causes unconsciousness though.  If I can't get to sleep I just force my mind blank, no-mind meditation, but don't worry about staying aware.  That puts me dead asleep pretty quickly.

Okay.  Here is the link to the Lotter Group on groupbox.

lotterygroup.groupbox.com

I've made it a members only group so random people wont flood it.  Anyone here who wants to join just apply and I'll approve it.  I think once we have around 10 people we can start.  If you have friends who are into spirituality/OBEs/magic/etc, anything involving focused intention you can tell them about it.  I don't really know how many people is enough, but all the members should be willing to make a sincere effort.  No free-riders!  Haha

Awesome.  If more people say they'll do it I will start a group on groupbox.com and we can give it a try.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Lottery Group Idea

I had an idea.  I think it's true that the more people concentrate on the same thing the more energy is given to that thing/idea/goal whatever.  A friend and I once bought a lottery ticket, just picked random numbers and then continually concentrated on making those numbers the ones which came up until the drawing.  Three of our six numbers came up which I found encouraging...but it still only got us %5, what we had paid for the ticket in the first place.  Haha.  Anyway.  What if I got a bigger group together to do the same thing.  We'd randomly select somebody to get a ticket and then everybody concentrate on making their numbers happen.  If they win the prize is split among the group.  Even if we had a bunch of members everybody would still get quite a lot of cash and we could wash rinse repeat.  Does anybody think this is a good idea?

QuoteThe best way to breathe, is to do so as what comes most natural. I really dont even pay attention to the way im breathing except for when I first laydown and try to become relaxed. I will take a deep breathe in and as I let it out, I will create a sinking sensation. I will do this a few times till my body is at a dead weight feeling. Once it gets like that Im done using any muscles in my body, im done moving. Then just breathe however it comes natural.
The only other time I would focus on my breathing is when the exit vibration comes. That could get a little difficult tryn to master, trying not to breathe heavily when it comes, because of excitement/fear. But after encountering it a few times it becomes easier and will feel more natural.

I don't really get vibrations usually any more.  It's more like all of a sudden my whole energy body or just a part of it shakes.  It's startling.  It makes my breath quicken and I have to try to control it like you said.  This always happens if I meditate but it's never lead to a projection.  I've had several spontaneous projections but not when I try.

Yeah that is a good idea.  Seems better than meditating on the breath because I'm not sure whether I should breathe in a specific way or just relax and let my breath become shallow like in sleep.  But the heartbeat can't distract you with that concern.  I wonder if I can feel it well enough to hold my focus on it though.  I shall try as soon as I have a little time to myself.

I just lay down and let go.  Usually I don't have any problem sleeping.  Sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes for me to completely lose consciousness while quiet random thoughts play out in my head which I'm not very focused on.  If I've had a stressful day it can take longer but only on very rare occasions do I actually have to force myself to go to sleep.  I can hold my mind blank and just allow myself to fade away.  It's rather uncomfortable to be exerting that effort when I just want to sleep but it works pretty quickly if I can't sleep otherwise.

I've never experienced sleep paralysis.  I've had all kinds of vibrations and strange sensations and some spontaneous projections, but I've never not been able to move my body if I wanted to.  I can tell when it's entering sleep mode; all the functions switch over to automatic and I'm not as aware of my body in general, but I can snap out at a moment's notice and get up quickly.

I read the Kybalion a few years ago and remember understanding most of what it talked about...but now I can't recall a thing.  Makes me want to read it again.  Haha.  I just remember that the writer struck me as a little close-minded and presumptuous.  I remember I found the book's content very profound but didn't really like the writer.

QuoteTry this Jarrod.

Take your thumb and press it on the spot where you think your third eye location is.
Remember and memorize the sensation where it happens.

Then, remove your thumb and try to duplicate that feeling without it there.
That will be you focusing your "vision" at your third eye.

It has nothing to do with your physical eyes.

Robert Bruce's awareness targeting technique.  Over the past several months I've worked my way up to a full body circuit, though I still don't include the arms.  I have to go slow to feel the energy and along my spine I only feel it sometimes.  When I get to my forehead I brush my point of tactile awareness up and down over where I think the third eye is and I can feel the sensation pretty well.  So you focus on a static point of tactile awareness as a means to keep you lucid for phasing?  Does it actually make a difference where the point of focus is?  I'm not really sure how the third eye chakra correlates to CNPEs.

When you say focus your vision at your third eye do you mean some imagined point in front of you and slightly up or actually trying to point your eyes at your forehead...cuz that kind of hurts?

I'll start using CNPE "snippy" in my posts and replies and see if it catches on. :)

What about CNPE (Conscious Non-Physical Experience)
#46
I forgot who made the post but somebody mentioned on here several days ago that simply daydreaming was a good way to turn the focus inward, and if you do it while falling asleep and stay conscious it puts you in a very deep state.

I had kind of the same effect once when I was little having a nightmare.  I realized that I was dreaming, only time I remember that happening when I was little, and shut my eyes as tight as I could and when I opened them my physical eyes opened and I woke up.  I read a lot about people talking in their OOBEs though and they usually don't say it was just mental.

I was lucid dreaming and started asking to see my guide.  I've never met him/her/it/them whatever and was curious.  I was inquiring mentally and after a few tries and nothing happened I decided to speak the request out loud.  As soon as I tried to talk either the sensation of my mouth moving or hearing the sound out loud or both brought me back to my body.  Does talking out loud have this effect with anybody else?
#49
Yeah.  The first time feeling sensations like that will leave you breathless :)  People are divided on their opinion of the relationship between astral projection and dreams, but I'm of the school who view AP and lucid dreaming as two different methods to get to essentially the same place.  So if you're a naturally gifted lucid dreamer I would go with that less jarring method over trying to learn how to consciously project.  You just need to learn to turn your lucid dreams into whatever you want your out of body experiences to be.  Normally when dreaming your environment is mostly self created; You're experiencing your own mind objectively.  If you want to explore the physical world (real time zone) simply stop the dreaming process, stop reacting to whatever's going on around you and increase your lucidity as much as you can, and maybe try to come look at yourself sleeping.

And if you have any trouble with your active imagination, just remember that nothing can actually hurt you in the spirit world.  Don't run from, fight or resist anything that scares you.  Just be still and let it come.  It will flow through you and as you realize that nothing terrible is happening it will lose it's power that your fear was giving it and fade away.  I've used that trick to overcome a nightmare before and it's a very freeing feeling.  You can actually use the same method in waking life to dis-empower your scary thoughts.  Just follow the thought through and don't resist it.  Nothing bad happens and the mind realizes that there is nothing to fear.

Another movie that just isn't accurate at all is Inception.  It's fun to watch but it probably gives people the wrong idea.
