Great article Jeff, thanks for the link!!

You can use the Search utility on this website to search the forums for projection techniques as many of them are very helpful. Your purpose for projecting sounds questionable and I doubt very much if you can affect your enemies' dreams in the RTZ to further your intentions of "scaring" them while they sleep.

I can only speak for myself, but when I have lucid dreams I am completely aware that I am dreaming and am awake in the dream and there is never any doubt in my mind when I wake up that I had one. I always seem to know when I wake up in a lucid dream because I always test them by jumping to assure myself that I can fly and I am always in complete control of the dream from then on and can direct all the action.  If I had to guess, I'd say that you had a regular dream where you kind of phased in and out of lucidity, but it's only a guess.

I bought the book and then took the free on-line course and found the course to be very helpful.  I believe that the course is better because it has been up-dated since the book was printed and seems to be more current than the book, plus on-line Instructors make themselves available to answer any questions you may have as you progress thru the course.  Hope this is helpful. Good luck.

Hello Ligeorange, and welcome to the Forums.  One thing to remember about "expectations", most of our disappointments in life occur when our expectations are in conflict with reality.  You can't do much about changing the reality of the experience but you can certainly change the way you choose to view it and as it is your first projection I think you did very well to remain calm and to have remembered how to trigger your return.  By keeping the projection short in duration you assured yourself of remembering it in detail, and that is very important.  It's a great start with many pluses and you will be able to build on it and don't worry, you will have many very memorable ones in the future.

Hello Trin.  Thanks for taking the time to answer all my endless questons.  Your answers were very descriptive and inciteful.  Has it ever occured to you that you may have somehow entered a parallel universe during a different time frame, possibly the distant future? You know Einstein wrote somewhere that a parallel universe is theoritically possible.  This would explain many things. Interesting that you never projected into any of these dreams intentionally. During any of these dreams did you ever encounter any, for lack of a better word, dream portals?  Not having any dreams for 4 years sounds like a very rare thing, could it be that you dreamed but just didn't remember any of them?  I have never heard of dream deprivation lasting for that long a period of time. I'm going to go scratch my head and study some more on all this. Take care and keep us posted, you story may ring a familiar bell with one of the posters.

Astral Projection is pretty much like anything else that is worth while striving for; you get out of it what you are willing to put into it.  Once you have your first OBE, and it will probably just be a short one, you will then have all the motivation you will ever need!!! And remember that there is more than one way to get there. Even if yoor AP practices fail at first, as most of them do, you may very well phase into Lucid Dreams which can be very exciting and helful to your practice.  You might want to go back into the Forum Archives here and check out some techniques that have worked for other members, and don't give up on them to soon, try them several times first as you  may profit from the conditioning. Once you are completely relaxed prior to an AP attempt you will find that your imagination can provide an extensive variety of exit methods, like bungee jumping off cliffs, etc. and if you design them then they are much more likely to work for you. Keep trying and you'll get there. Oh yes, I got my Astral Dynamicas copy thru Amazon Books dot Com. and Robt Monroe's first book got me hooked too.  Good Luck!!

There may not be a "quick fix" to dispel the random thoughts that seem to be constantly bombarding us but a good start would be to practice awareness on a daily basis. Get in the habit of fully focusing on each routine task that you perform each day to the total exclusion of any other thought that doesn't pertain to that task. If you can become really involved with each task then it should work. Just like getting absorbed in a good book or watching a favorite TV espisode this blocks all other thoughts.  Eventually your mind will get used to this conditioning and you should rid yourself of much of the chatter.  I agree that focusing on your breath is a good method and you might use it to fill in the moments between tasks. Awareness works quite well when eating as you can focus on the joy of actually tasting your food instead of wolfing it down while thinking about some activity that is scheduled for next week.  You get the idea.  Good luck!!

Hello Trin and welcome to the Forums. It sounds like you have had some very interesting experiences in the dream world.  You mentioned that these sequential dreams started about 15 years ago, but are you still having them?  Were you interested in and reading or viewing any Sci Fi or futuristic material before they began? Hope you don't mind the questions but I'm just trying to get a better fix on your position.  You describe the dreams as OBE's and Lucid Dreams which is a little confusing for me.  Did they start out as dreams and then you became lucid while in them?  Did you intentionally project to the Astral and into the dreams or was the projection spontaneous?  You seemed to say that you could manifest esoteric powers while in the dreams which sounds like you had the ability to direct the dreams.   Did you create or manifest these powers thru your thought
processes?

It must have been quite exciting for you to contact this person in the physical plane that could describe your dreams to you. Did you ask her how she knew these things?  Did these dreams just persist for a week or so or longer and are you still having them?  Sorry to be asking so many questions and had I known I would ask so many of them then I should have at least had the courtesy to put them all together!!  I have never heard of anyone having sequential dreams like you have had and it is very curious especially since none of the dream characters were known to you and if you hadn't read or seen anything of this nature thru media sources then I don't know where your subconscious could have obtained them. Hopefully someone on the Forum can help you with this although you may need to seek answers in another dimension.  When I have a dream that is kind of wierd and out in left field I try very hard to use my intuition  to determine its meaning as dreams are usually very personal and are sometimes conveying esoteric omens pertaining to future events.  Very few people can recall regular dreams in as much detail as you have so you  were more than likely awake in the dreams and along with that awareness you could try to fly into another venue should you start getting those same dreams again and want to break the cycle. Keep seeking answers and you will find them.  Good luck.

I am probably biased about this because my first projection was by rolling out.  Happened purely by accident as I was uncomfortable lying on my back and had been practicing about 40 minutes, was completely relaxed, and finally just gave up on trying to AP so I rolled over onto my left side to go to sleep and immediately found my self in the Astral.  You should start your practice in the standard lying on back position, you must be completely relaxed and be having all the normal pre-exit sensations that you are used to feeling and then just roll over and out.  If you have a narrow bed then start over on one side so you won't fall on the floor.  If you have gone through all the preparations and give it a try you will probably feel that you are moving with your physical body but if all goes well you won't be. Hope this helps a bit.

The first part sounds like a projection but the second part leads me to think that your may have phased into a RTZ Lucid Dream. Lucid Dreams are usually quite vivid and colorful.

It sounds like a dream to me too.  About 98% of the time dreams are just projections from the subconscious mind working out different scenarios which are mainly generated from our various egos.  You should really take the time to study your dreams tho because sometimes there can be a meaningful message for you that you should heed.  You are the only one who can do a decent job of interpretting your own dreams and for this you must use your intuition. Once in awhile a dream will contain a very subtle message, it could be something about the future or maybe just a number that is repeated and has meaning for you.  Some of those 2% messages may not make sense to you now but may be of significant importance and understandable at a later time. Your dream could have many meanings, maybe you should just be careful who you open the door to in the future and assure their identity before opening it, but no one can do a fair analysis of your dreams but you yourself.  Most people have scary kind of dreams like that all the time and nothing every comes of it, just try to differentiate between the meaningless ones and ones where your intuition tells you that they could be importatnt to remember.

I can't sleep on my back so my most comfortable sleeping positions are either my right or left side but I always do the AP practice on my back until I reach the pre-exit stage and then I roll over onto my left side and slide out very smoothly and naturally. I always have an exit strategy before projecting or phasing into a lucid dream. If I want to project directly into the Astral I will have a definite destination and mission in mind and kind of will myself there.  If I just want to phase into a lucid dream and do some non-serious stuff I fix a RTZ place and go into that. I know this sounds like easy stuff, but it isn't.  It has taken a lot of energy and focus and it doesn't always work for me and lately I've been missing the vibration stage and the stuff is fizzling out on me. I keep telling myself that if I can just get the right mixture of methodology then I can do it with regularity but so far it has eluded me, but I keep trying!!

Hello Impunity, and welecome to the Forums.  Interesting survey.
#1 Yes, I can pisture scenes in my mind at will.
#2 I have songs stuck in my mind all day long and it's like from a band and I have great difficulty eliminating them.  My feeling is that this is a challenge to coax me into staying awake and aware throughout the day but it can be very annoying. The annoyance factor has become even more exacerbated by my tongue which now seems to want to keep time with the beat and it is getting sore.  If you can think of a way to stop the musical madness please let me know.
#3 I would rate myself at about a 3 on the projection ability chart.
Thanks for your input Impunity.

Thank you all for your helpful and inciteful comments. And DOA: I think that you are right on track with the need to shelve the sexual desires in  lucid dreams. Not much sense in getting into a lucid dream if you are going to sabotage yourself and abruptly end it!! Since discovering this my lucid dreams have been longer and much more productive.  I am now able to persue my orginally desired aim of learning and expanding my knowledge of the the higher realms and seeking the true spiritual path.

Each of us must open our minds to the infinite possibilities that exist, but have not as yet been revealed to us. Many of the people on these forums are here to learn what they can from the experiences of others. Some seek a spiritual path that will allow them to form their own truths thru factual experiences. Projectors have pretty much proven to themselves that their consciousness can transcend their physical bodies. You can draw whatever conclusion you wish from that. I don't know if there are 7 planes of existence and will have to reserve my opinion on that if or until I can experience each of them and then that will be my truth. Each of us who read a lot and form opinions based on what we read must determine for ourselves what we wish to believe and interpret as facts.  It is a sifting process that takes time and a great deal of thoughtfulness. Think of yourself as a huge sponge just soaking up all the incoming data and then meditate on the most important elements and discard the rest.

Hello js, and welcome to the Forums.  I think that just about all of us would like to be able to project on a regular basis and it is a real challenge to try to attain it.  As with most things it is constant practice that bears the greatest success rates.  You should have a sequencial routine starting with your relaxation process which is probably the most important of all and then follow-on with your exit method.  Try to AP as often as you possibly can even if it means drinking some water at bedtime so you will be sure to get up during the night.  By using the same routine all the time I think that ones body gets used to it and will sense what you want it to do and is thereby conditioned to the practices.  Also, you might be better off if you tried a new method for at least a week or so before switching to another one.  It's difficult for your body to start responding to a routine if you are constantly changing it. It is also good to have a firm destination in mind before you practice.  Try to visualize the place and truly believe that you are going to get there. Keep up the good work.

Focusing on your breath during the day is an excellent way to block out your thoughts. This should create for you a quiet mind which will carry over into your night time AP practices and will be very helpful. When you first start the relaxation process before a practice it would probably be OK to focus on your breath to stay centered and block random thoughts, but once you are relaxed try switching your focus to a Mantra or visualization and see how that works.  Good luck.

Since, from your description, this was a "real time" projection, you might ask Mom if she has any recollection of your encounter with her.  There is no telling what she was so alarmed about.  Could be she had a bad feeling about "those other places" you wanted to go to or it could be an evil entity that took on her appearance and was just trying to deter you from continuing your Astral travels.  It seems to me that you might try using your intuition to determine the meaning as best you can as you are most familiar with you own internal thought mechanisms.  Good luck.

Politics and Religion. It's always a "No Win" exercise in futility.

Welcome to the Forums.  It may just be that you are a Projector without a destination.  It is possible that if you could decide on a target area you wish to visit before you project that you might be able to avoid all that confusion and yo- yoing. You have already passed the sometimes most difficult part - you projected, so now you must try to fine-tune your post-projection routine. Just a thought. Good luck.

I think that most of us are in the same boat concerning people around us not understanding what we are doing.  It is normal for a person to want to share their persuits with those they care for but sometimes people get a bit closed-minded when it comes to things they don't understand so just continue with your work and remember that each of your friends and relatives are following their own paths.

The first projection is always an important milestone but is not always the most difficult as it can happen when least expected.  The previous posts are excellent and should help you a great deal.   Sometimes it's good to just sit back and be the Observer during these practices.  Projection is actually such a normal and simple thing. As you no doubt know, every time we go to sleep our astral double leaves our physical bodies and all we really need to do is stay awake long enough to hitch a conscious ride with it. What I will sometimes do, and it may be a bit sneaky, is to go thru the relaxation part and then just mentally sit in a corner and observe the entire going-to-sleep process with all the attendant sounds, etc., while not getting attached to any of them.  Just be the Observer.  And don't feel any pressure to have to succeed each time you try. Consider each try a learning experience. Good luck.

If you can get a copy of Astral Dynamice by Robert Bruce he gives the method for projecting consciously into a Lucid Dream on pages 330 and 331. It's kind of long to go into here but I did another post today on another topic giving an abbreviated version of it. I can't remember the topic off hand but when I finish this post I'll look it up and post it here.
