In these days of gender perspective, I´d like to adress the subject of gender in terms of astral polarity.
Men and women are quite different in astral polarity, in short:
Men are positive+/electric/solar in their auras, whereas women are negative-/magnetic/lunar.
This brings also the perspective of archetypal associations:

MEN: Primary Planetary influence Jupiter/Sol (the two are much alike), Mars.
WOMEN: Primary Planetary influence Luna, Venus, Saturn.

Archetypically (using the term from famous psychologist C.G. Jung) women as a gender primarily echo the archetypal images of the Maiden/huntress, The Priestess, and The Crone/wisewoman.
Whereas men echo the archetypal images of the Warrior, The Priest-King and the Eternal child.

The structural gender problems in my opinion are likely to be part of a far-echo of  archetypal patterns that culturally have been unconsciuosly inherited models of identification, through "The Collective Unconscious".

To return to the discussion on astral polarity, men and women are mirrors of each other, men being electric in their outer being (outer aura) and women magnetic, thus both sexes have a need to share in each other´s energies, which might be on many levels.

The famous occultist Dion Fortune have discussed this toipc in one of her books, where she stated that women lack electro-magentism and thus they need a positive relationship to the other sex, whereas men have a physical need of women. Many feminists will probably throw up in disgust at this statement, but it do indeed give indications on why a physically abused woman may stay in a destructive relationship, she has somehow attuned herself to her man´s auric pattern.

This subject also involves the question of uncounscious energy vampirism, do men and women absorb, to the level of becoming addicted, certain astral energies of their partner.For instance, regular coitus means a harmonised energy exchange, but oralpleasuring by either of the partners, probably means that one loses energy to the other, unless they pleasure each other at the same time.

Of course this subject is a very complex one with many layers as it involves psychological  and elementary influences as well, and the psychological  influences or patterns that the astrological aspects indicate, a hard aspect such as a opposition or sqare between important planets may have profound influence for the auric make-up of an individual of either sex and his /her relationship to another person of the opposite sex.

I may have made several over-simplificactions here, and apologise if so, but this topic is an important one indeed.

I have been active on the PSD forum but I thought that widen my field so to speak.
As to Astral Travel, I have´nt projected consciously but have had astral experiences that have been very vivid, both in terms of what I call "mental projection" (entering the astral via the mind), I think Golden Dawn called it "skrying in the spirit" and spontaneous trance experiences of the shamanic/dervish type.

I intend to begin doing astral projection, but as I´ve had trouble with psychic attacks, I have put these exercises on hold, though I once nearly projected, using a technique suggested by W.E. Butler (the great occultist/pupilk of Dion Fortune).

I seem to have karmic ties to shamanism, as I have had numerous shamanic experiences spontaneously. A psychic healer also told me so once.

The latest one (some days ago) I imagined just before going to sleep that I swam in a lake and  dove under the surface, downunder the entrance to the Underworld opened up and I swam into it, at first a bit difficult, but eventually I reached another astral scene, I was down in a cellar and saw a hooded figure with a black and white painted face, like one of those black metal musicians, approach - then the experience ended.
I dón´t know if this is related to my psychic attacks and problem with negs, but I didn´t feel any hostility or evil atmosphere at this point.

I´ve recently commenced performing the A:S: SETTING OF THE WARDS OF POWER and I am very pleased with it, as it feels much better than the LBRP.

But I´m wondering how to best combine this ritual with CORE IMAGE REMOVAL, I´ve tried my hand on this technique a few times, and the problems I´ve had are the following:
- the difficulty in reversing the image
- the neg or neg connection behind the image has been too blurry and also the image is seen in the mind´s eye in a minimized version. Can the mind screen be made to appear bigger using some technique??

I recently read Robert´s article on core image removal and as I´m open to try anything that might help me get rid of the negs, I did my first try.
I concentrated on erotic images that I know have been used in attacks against me and then I pictured them as pictures that I tried to reverse, some as Robert says in his article, were hard to move, one pornographic one which seemed a bit magnetic when turned exposed a nasty head, I tried to hack at this with an imaginary sword, it was hard seeing if I was succesful at this, when I discovered that someone, probably the higher self, assisted me in sending a blast of brilliant light and the head started burning and melting.
 I haven´t seen any branches yet, but as my astral vision is rather weak, blac&white and the image is rather little. re there any specific techniques to improve on the astral vision?

Also I was attacked last night at bedtime and went up and sliced some garlic and rubbed it in my face, round the tmples, and it was a highly succesful defense, even better than the psychic efense etheric oil that I have. The only thing is that you smell a bit. Highly recommnded!

This post is in fact meant to be a reply to a previous post which discussed whether psychic attacks are connected to The Pillar of Severity or not, but as I had trouble locating the post I wrote a new on this topic.

In my opinion the connection with the pillar of Severity is not unlikely, but I would gather that the issue of psychic attacks is more complex than that.
The assumption that "evil" is connected to the Pillar Of Severity is much a view that seems to have been taken from the Orthodox Jewish Cabalists, which ascribed evil much to the feminine.

In my opinion although attacks have indeed a strong Martian element in them (and thus adhering to the fifth sephira on the pillar of Severity - Geburah/Madim) I think that psychic attacks are connected to several sephiroth, as well as many or all of the elements (though one element is probably dominating). An astrological birth-chart might be helpful to detect difficult aspects such as Oppositions, Quincuxes.

Largely I think that the psychic attacks are attempts of the Qlippoth (the shells, the unbalanced sephirothic powers) to gain entrance to our World, to manifest in this the lowest and densest part of Assiah- the World of Matter).

The attacks seem to be largely projected through the Middle Pillar: especially Malkuth and/or Yesod (which corresponds to the feet chakra andthe root/genital chakra) also Daath (the sphere  which is not a real sephiroth and is placed between The Supernal Triad of Kether, Chokmah and Binah) is also said to be a possible channel for manifestation of the Qlippoth, it is said to be guarded by the archdemon Choronzon.

Most of these qlipphotic beings, eg. negs, seem to be of the lower astral wildlife, I don´t think that more powerful qlipphotic beings such as Princes, Archdemons,etc. seek manifestation in the same way, it is possible depending on what the circumstances are, but their motives seem more to be on the grander scale, thus they would probably try to materialise and create imbalance through someone more politically powerful, like a mlitary leader and/or someone that can affect real devastation, such as a serial killer. Serial killer are often said to feel forced to commit these atrocities by inner voices/forces, though they assuredly are mentally insane, it is my opinion that they are largely controlled by powerful qlipphah as well.

As one line in the classic film "The Exorcist", Father Merrin says something that it is´nt the girl Regan that is the target, but other people in her surroundings (probably Father Karras who has lost his faith, as well as Merrin himself). She is merely the channel of manifestation.

It has been said that The Second World War in fact was an expression of powerful Qlippothic powers that found a channel (the Nazis) to both materialise and create grand unbalance, as we know that larvae feed on the wounded of the battlefields, this is not something that I find implausible.

The Qlippoth and the reverse side of TheTree of Life - the Tree of Death is a subject that is rarely studied in depth by White Occultists, dark Magicians though view this dark shadow tree not as "evil" in the traditional sense rather as the negative counterpart to the positive lighter side of the tree, and the true well of wisdom.

They use the Kundalini to gain entrance to the sphere of Lilith (the Yesod Qlipphah) and they say that the Qlipphah should be sought in the darkness, at night, during Waning Moon etc.

I have had some contacts with darker beings, but to me even though they can be fascinating in many ways, they are difficult to handle. One must take into account that they are great seducers, liars, illusionists and the one that ventures into their realm must have a lot of magickal expertise, backup power and wisdom.

But confronting The Shadow/darker aspect of ourselves is indeed very important, we have to know our imbalanced aspects to becomed balanced, as the Way Of Return on The Tree Of Life means both a process of cutting down and building up, something magicians of many orders such as THE Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn had to learn the hard way.Magick inflates ego and it also gives power to our unconscious weaknesses.

The balanced aspect of Geburah  means cutting out the cancer of ills in our lives as well as breaking down the imbalanced Chesed bulidings that bars our growth.
Thus we must awake the Elohim Gibor in ourselves to fight the imbalanced negs, as well as YHVH Eloah-Ve Daath of Tiphereth as the balancing/harmonising godforce.

I often feel like I´m standing between The Balanced and the Unbalanced and that both sides try to make me side with them.
Though I have felt that the psychic attacks are the unbalanced forces attempts to both hinder me from advancing in Theurgy (White magick) and seduce me to join their Left-hand paths.
The problem of choosing side is also a moral one, The Theurgic means that you have to adhere to high morals, whereas The darker means negelcting morals, or doing whatever you want basically.
Crowley described something similar: "The good forces and th evil forces fought over my soul but in the end who was the Good and who the Evil?"

As I have had my share of nightmares, that are clearly in retrospect, made to make me feel dread, guilt, (before the attacks intensified in 1994, I hadn´t had nightmares in ten years, and I´m not easily scared, also  I´m a horrorfilm buff ).

Do negs have the ability to shape dreams to fit heir attacking purpose, e.g. control the astral light, or is this the making of another type of attacker?

I encountered a mantra that is said to be effective for celansing and exorcism; I present it here for you: NE-HA-EL, for me  i could feel the psychic ties to the negs stirring so it must be effective. I don´t know what tradition it corresponds to, but what the heck, as long as it works

It would be very nice if this forum could in the future, as Robert has mentioned, be a sort of web-place where you could find various helpful rituals, suggestion for remedies etc, etc.

My experience with negs has been mainly mental/sexual, e.g. that they have tried to either induce erotic images, using either images from TV, magazines etc. and/or inducing a kind of magnetic drowsiness that makes you want to lie down and rest, and then the erotic images  are induced. Or they have tried to make me to masturbate. Sometimes using the link in the solar plexus I have done even though it has been against my will, but I have then tried to ejaculate as fast as possible, to lessen the energy leakage,as prolonging the masturbation seems to generate a higher amount of energy.

The attacks  have also been during sleep/or between dream and being awake, either these dreams have then been of the lucid type, where I see them as greydark oval spheres pressing on to either head, face, chest or solarplexus. But also they have taken the forms of an attractive/sensous female images, though their masculine predator-like nature has quite rapidly been revealed(?!).
Once in adream I encountered a beautiful woman that kissed me and while doing so there was a kind of chaotic slimy-sticky amobalike energy covering my face.

Or the attacks have been some kind of nightmare where there is a disturbing element, such as a house that appears haunted by a malignant influence that is clearly felt or the scene is arranged as if to make me feel "gulity", to make my aura weaken.

Those times where I´ve had the strength to defend myself in dreams, and project banishing pentagrams, or even almost complete a banishing ritual, the negs have reacted as a wild beast would do, with a sort of animalistic rage.

The herbs, etc, that me for me has had some defensive effect, for a while at least, is salt, garlic, rosemary and st. john´s wort. I haven´t tried cinnamon or angelica.

It seems that certain types of food are more likely to attract neg attacks, such as spicy meat, after having eaten a thai dish I was attacked during sleep, quite ferociosly by a group of negs.
Denning & Philips in their book "Psychic self-Defense and Well-Being" arguse for vegetarianism as an aid in avoiding psychic attacks, also they suggest raw carrot-juice for lessening the sex drive.

Two days ago I felt that the astral defenses I´ve had which have succesfully shielded me for about a week, were cracking. These defenses are not of ny conscious making, I´ve got help from somewhere. Anyway, I decided to try and contact "the occult police" using the black calvary cross on a scarlet circle. I mean if you have had psychic attacks for at least ten years, you are willing to try almost anything.If they really do exist I´m sure that they ought to be interested in my case.

After having visualized the symbol, something slightly odd happened.It felt like spiritual energy were going down through the crown chakra and energizing my aura, also I felt a sudden slight pull on my solar plexus, which gave me almost an vomitive feel, in my third eye I saw a beastly face reacting to this pull. Then I felt an urge to go into the center of my room (which I know from psychometry is energy-giving) and I felt like I was in a banishing ritual, like LBRP or Setting of the Wards, it was partially acted out , I could sense the guardians of the four corners (the ones visualized in LBRP/Setting of the wards of Power), after that I felt like having undergone a banishing ritual.

The slight irony of the situation was that I was at that time listening to Prokofjev´s opera The Fiery Angel (which deals with magic, demonic possession and exorcism) when this occurrence happened.

The question is did I manage to get in contact with The Occult Police or was it someone helse and/or the higher self giving aid??

As I´m new to this forum; i´d like to introduce myself: My name is Mathias,`I´m 30 year old university student. My interests are the occult/magick/mysticism, egyptology, literature, music, film, art.
This forum seems very fitting for me, as I have been having psychic attacks since 1994, actually it first started in 1984, but in -94 when I was studying ceremonial magick (using D.M. Craig´s book) the attacks got much more intense.

In 1997-98 the attacks were so intense, that I can almost was becoming different in personality. I took a break from my magick studies, and the attacks got less intense, but they continued. Since then I have been reading various books on psychic self-defense, including the ones by Denning & Philips, Dion Fortune.

Last year I found an AD that offered distance exorcism, removal of psychomagnetic links, etc. The therapist behind this, claims to be connected with a UK organisation, the name escapes me now, specialized in Spiritual Releasement Therapies and Regression Therapies.
Anyway the work this therapist provided for a rather costly sum (amounting to about $ 80) was effective for a short time, but the attacks returned some days after. At least I got confirmation on waht had caused these attacks.

According to the psychic therapist: the attacks were made by vampiric entities that were draining by inducing thought-images, these entities  seemed to reside in the astral sphere under my bed(in the west) and the cause for the attack were karmic, in a former past life I had been a shaman that misused his powers, and thus these attacks were some kind of retribution, perhaps a type of curse.
Also the therapist noted that I had a kind of steel-like looking web around me, and something darkish on the aura on my left leg, like something missing, plus there was a word on my right arm that is Björn in Swedish, which is a Norse name meaning "Beer" (!?)
I have definitely felt that I have shamanistic ties, I have experienced shapeshifting into beer form on at least two times , as well as contact with a tiger totem. This totem was beside on the astral plane whilst the exorcism was performed.
At the present the attacks have decreased, perhaps my astral defenses are stronger now.
What I would like to find is someone that could help me find a final soloution to this proble, as well as finding the answers to what lies behind these attacks.

What I can't understand is that dark magicians (let's not get caught up in left-hand semantics now) praise the individual Ego/lower self, yet when you die the Ego dies (or at least it gradually fades off in the astral), the only thing that survives and evolves is the Spirit/the Higher Self. So what you going to do to keep the Ego only, the only way is to vampirize a living being (similar to one of Dion Fortune's case studies in her classic PSYCHIC SELF DEFENSE).

The main general problem with magick is that it inflates the ego, that is, the force that you channel and build up, is mainly energy from the higher self.
PF Case (of BOTA) stated very wisely that a magician should be like a piece of glass, he/she reflects and channels the light above.
So identifying with the Ego  (cosnciously or unconsciously) is a common magickal problem (also for white magicians).

As for dark magicians view of the cosmos: they state that the cosmic order (the balanced Tree) is something evil (in a kind of gnostic way), and the averse tree (the qlipphotic) is something beneficial. They use the kundalini instead of the crown chakra as main power supply (and Qlipphotic entrance), and focus solely on the dark spheres.

Also they use the Eastern symbolism - mainly of tantra and tantric buddhism - to justify their direction. Add to this some Crowley influence, some Church of Satan or Temple of Seth influences,some Nietzchean elitist ideas,some of Kenneth Grant's ideas and some chaos magick ideas, some Gnostic and Yezidi ideas, and your dark magick direction is complete.

To conclude this, to think that you are creating your "own world with qlipphotic builfding blocks" to me seems like a major spiritual delusion, and qlipphah, probably doesn't say no to some willing human mediums to help their manifestation of unbalanced energy.

I know some will be ticked off by this, so please understand that this is my personal view. It is finally up to everyone to choose his or her own path.

Also negs may enter via Daath, which is also said to be an entrance to the averse side of the Tree.
But Malkuth is probably more neg-related as negs belong to the lower astral.
Also there seems to be different theories as to whether the higher sephiroth have qlipphotic equivalents or not, the G:D: tradition says they have, the A:S: that they don't have.

No I haven't. I know so much as when it's raining and I'm outside (for instance riding an bus) there is no attacks at all.
But I've experineced attacks while taking a shower in a bathtub.
So running water do help at least temporarily.
But making an telluric spring is I guess rather an expensive ordeal and I'm not that handy person.
I'm going to try to find a new apartment that is less influenced by neagtive leylines (which is tha main reason negs can manifest).

What do you call a piece which you iron clothes with (my english escapes me at the present)... anyway I have such an item, an antique one, that is made of iron.
It is very heavy and magnetic. I tried holding it to me neg-infected areas and I felt almost abit nauseous.

I've tried using putting it under my bed (where my negs reside) well, it helped for some nights, though my stubborn negs have certainly found ways to circumvent this also

I have tried almost everything by now agaisnt negs: various protective
herbs, garlic, camphor, incense, seasalt, iron, having light on during the night.
Also I do banishing rituals frequently.
The neg problem I have have decreased some, yet it is a damn nuisance .

Just to add to my previous comment:
Some left hand magicians state that demons are misunderstood powers, their dark imagery is just a result of a negative notion of them, and that if they are revealed or manifested by the magician, they will become completely positive. Hence their evilness or unbalance is just an illusion made up by the Christians and other religions.
This positive view is similar to the kurdish Yezidis who view Lucifer as a positive spiritual being.

In my opinion it may be true of some dark/qlipphotic entities, but not all of these type of entities, and I see it as a mistake and spiritually misleading to view the Qlipphotic Tree as positive.
One has to treat it for what it is.

Also demonic possession do exist even if it's rare, and to say that someone possessed is'nt suffering would be an insult to the sufferer.
If demons would be positive beings then they wouldn't attack or possess people, or make them do acts of violence.

I have heard one story from an occultist in Sweden who was sought out by a group of girls for help, they had experimented with an Ouija board with really disastrous results, they all had suffered violent attacks and partial possession when using the board.

Yet, perhaps we are entering into a karmic phase where we have to start dealing with unbalanced energies on a grander cosmic scale. I have heard some esotericists saying that there are darker energies that try to get a "karmic hitchhike".

There is probably a great deal to learn from the averse side of the Tree, the problem is how to integrate the energies in a way that harmonizes with the balanced Tree.

Yes, several of these planetary powers have similarities, such as Jupiter and Sol.
If the Rosicrucian tradition was an alchemical offshoot? Well, it's hard to know what was first the hen or the egg.
In my opinion magick and alchemy are both hermetic sciences/arts, they are two sides of the same coin.

And the use of alchemy in dealing with psychic problems have started to interest me more and more, as it seems more of a harmonising way.

The question is where negs fit in the alchemical scheme of phases, probably as part of nigredo, which corresponds to Saturn.

I have studied texts by dark magicians who are solely working with qlipphotic energies and say they are benefiting very well from this type of studies. Fine, yet, this is somwhat of an uncharted territory, even they, the dark magicians declare it as such. Few have really been there.

I respect those who have the ability to deal with Qlipphotic energies are learn from it. Yet I confess that I hold a prejudiced view that there are some dangers involved, based on the experience I have of negattacks:
The question is how related negs and qlipphotic (or dark; whatever you prefer to call it) energies are related, my experience say they are related. And so does others like RB.

So thus my biased view. I also feel empathy for those people who suffer from negs and /or possession, and I want to help if I can:

Do you?? Maybe you consider these people who suffer from negs are to blame themselves,and that if they can't handle it so let them perish??

And yes I haven't invoked a demon or a goetic spirit.  Have you??? I really suspect you haven't. I've had contact once or twice with what looked like a demon or satyr, that appeared clearly outside my circle.
I respect all these powers for what they are. But I won't start praising them.
The only force to praise is your higher self!!!

I want to clarify my stance in the issue.
I don't object to adepti using spirits of various kind, Goetic or Qlipphotic.
I like Crowley, and well he had his share of dark streaks
But ultimately magick and mysticism are two rivers that flow together.
I really think that Crowley foremost saw himself as a mystic, more than a magus.
I think it was PF Case who said that a magician should be like a glass window^, if you understand the metaphor. Magick do inflate the ego,hence the many historical in-fights in orders such as Golden Dawn.

This is also detrimental as the goal of mysticism and magick is to let go of the ego. Once you reach the Archetypal triangle you have to let go of the ego.

Magick is yes  as commented here deemed by Christians as anti-Christian yet the greatest magickal traditions where esoterically Christian! Both Rosicrucian (Golden Dawn, OTO, BOTA, etc) and Ogdoadic (Aurum Solis) have been largely formed by Christian adepti.
Magick unfortunately has become a shadow (using a Jung concept here) of religious people's fears.
Most magick students are confronted with these fears if their activities should be known.
So I suggest to better call it "personal development". as many perosnal development, mental training courses as used by most athletes are Occult technniques!!

But there is also a esoteric trend to seek out esoteric dangers and wallow in it. This mayt be a danger in that qlipphotic mighty energies might find a suitable channel for manifestation.
Can you as a left-hand magician deal with a Demon King??? (the equivalent of a Archangel).
There are few high grade white magicians who can. Romero here at Astralpulse can.

I don't condemn calling up demons (if you have the true skill to do so), but you have to know what you are doing and how to control whatever answers your call. Also do you really know their agenda of answering?? This is of course a danger in all types of magickal evocation and I'm not being paranoid, I'm just calling to attention important points.

I'm interested in demonology and other dark aspects, but I would never turn to just work solely with Qlipphotic energies.
For me the Qlipphah are aspects that one has to face in one way or other. They may be illuminating, but I wouldn't praise them.
But I guess whether one turns left or right in magick is a matter of taste.

There have been many crimes where mentally unbalanced peole have told of being controlled by inner voices that urged them to kill.
Perhaps just acute psychosis/mental stability you might say? I'm not so certain.

This may not be dark/left-hand magicians but there unfortunately other people that turn to Satanism (not Church of Satan or Temple of Set-type satanism), I mean the real low type, and they fall to easy prey to negative energies that prey on the unwary.
There must be a reason that so many people on this board have experienced neg problems.
Then one can debate whether negs are qlipphotic or not. I would say they are to some extent.
But even if they aren't we have to learn how to deal with their type of energies.

I recommend using herbal soaps, especially Sandalwood. Sandalwood is known for expelling negs, it is also grounding and connects to your higher self.
Shower gels with Eucalyptus oil can also help, eucalyptus is known for cleansing the aura.

Other helpful herbs:
Rosemary, Cinnamon, Sage, Angelica, Marjoram, Lavender, Dill, Ginger.

I'd say "know thy shades, but do not let them swallow you".
We all have to know about our dark sides, what Jung called "The Shadow", and to explore the unknown may have a value.
But to devote oneself entirely to the Qlipphotic Tree to me sounds as if one would easily get lost spritually, without the guiding light of the higher self.

Also what many left-hand path workers do is calling demons beneficial and misunderstood. That to me is sugar-coating potential dangers.
These are great powers that want to turn all spirtual balance over.
They may appear as beneficial so as to be able to get a connection on the etheric plane.

Also there are many who when venturing into magic think it is much more cool to try and call up Lovecraftian entities than "ordinary planetary spirits". Well, let's see how cool it is to later be possessed by a demon and be locked up in an institution as a rambling psychotic.
I'd like to quote the great occultist W.E. Butler, the founder of S.O.L.:
"Never, ever overestimate your occult powers!"
Butler in one of his books also likened the channeling of dark forces as channeling sewer water, it is impossible not to be tainted by that dark energy.

As a general response, I can say that I've tried many of the methods mentioned by RB in his book, but most of these seem only to work temporarily.

My apartment has two strong negative leylines, I can feel them clearly.
A friend who is a sceptic came over to my place, and I told him to try a stand where these lines go (one crosses my bed) and he said that he experienced fatigue and he said that his knees felt weak.
When I stepped on to the place which I have found to be positive, he felt a marked change.

Negs do use negative leylines to attack on. The psychic healer I consulted told me that there was a disturbed place in the west also, and that is where the negs reside.
My regular performance of SWP (Setting of the wards of power, the banishing ritual of Aurum Solis), brings a clam to my apartment but the negs just keep waiting for any crack in the defense to attack.
I think I've got alot better in handling the obsessive thoughts as well as turning round induced images, one of them revealed a horned very ugly neg that looked like a cross between an ape and an butt.

Also I've recently discovered that I have an attachmnet point in my perineum.
While vibrating SHADDAI EL CHAI, as well as forming a pentagram on the area, I experienced spasms, as if something was disturbed there.

I've recently used the Enochian First Call of the Aires (the english translation) and it seem to have effect on the negs.
Just commencing with the first lines have effect.
This call is used to invoke the Angels relating to the tablet of Union (the sphere of spirit).

Denning & philips in their book make a point that there are elementals who vampirize humans unknowingly as they are drawn to an obsessive individual. Though this may be valid for some cases, most astral vampires (negs) do indeed know what they are doing, being conscios astral predators feeding on certain energies (mental, sexual etc.).
However, in their excellent book MYSTERIA MAGICA, the problem of negs is labelled (in the AURUM SOLIS sytem) under the category Kappa phenomena - "forces of spritiual evil that has found a channel of manifestation of such grossness that they directly impinge on the material plane".

What I would like to see the problem of negs is from a purely Qabalistic view; are there ways to discern if there are certain paths of the tree of life which is involved, and if so are there ways of regaining balance, harmonizing them, such as via pathworking meditations or combining pathworking with RB's methods??.

Also can negs be categorized under the Qlipphotic classifications given ??
Succubi for instance is often related to the path of Daleth (The Empress).
Also evidence (as RB states in his book) has proven that negs do re-act to hebrew power-names.

I've also found that Enochian functions equally well, for instance the Enochian word for God IAD (pronounced EE-AHH-DEEHH) do effect negs (weakening them).
Enochian (the language of the complez magickal system discovered by the Renaissnace scholar and occultist John Dee &  the seer Edward Kelley, and popularized by Crowley and others). It is indeed very powerful.
So there are definitely more occult research to be done in finding ways of utilizing magickal methods in restraining negs.

In the book, PSYCHIC SELF-DEFENSE & WELL-BEING, D&P state that there are elementals that vampirize humans that indulge in obsessive fantasies, they are drawn to this energy and starts attaching to the person. I'm not discrediting D&P, they are very renowned in the occult field and they have written brilliant books on magick, but not calling things by it's proper name is not  a very helpful remedy.One shouldn't scare people to become paranoid, but it is better to say it's negs if it is. Also strengthening the aura is very helpful, but it isn't helpful enough.
To me for fighting negs you have to:
-perform banishing rituals regularly and other aura strengthening exercises. However i id wise not to start doing MPR and similar techniques as these can make the attacks worse.
-do self-analysis: observe your own thoughts and thought patterns
-pray and read psalms
-read poetrry and listen to classical music and watch great classical art
-meditate on high ideals, such as if you obess about sex, mediate on selfless love and compassion.

I agree that the subject has'nt been fully explored, but I do know that there are magical orders who have extensive info. on the neg-type phenomena.
One being the order AURUM SOLIS (I study their system), they call it "kappa phenomena" (see Denning & Philips' book MYSTERIA MAGICA, also their book THE SWORD AND THE SERPENT present a case history of a woman who was attacked by a negative being.

However in Denning & Philips' book PSYCHIC SELF-DEFENSE & WELL-BEING, they say that these "astral vampires are elemental forces", which I don't really agree with. Negs are not elementals in the same manner as undines, etc.
I don't want to appear "esoterically conspirational paranoid", but to me, Robert's book is truly groundbreaking, signifying that the human race has reached a new level of consciousness when we are able to deal with these "hard truths".
