REally? The Native American descent, and the flute playing, I mean.
What nation are you from? And the flute, do you have books you're learning from? Young men used to play a wooden flute outside the tipis of the young woman they wanted to court. Someone gave me a wooden flute, but I haven't learned to do a thing with it.
In the spring, we have a bird that really sounds like it's playing a few notes on a silver flute.

Flute music is PURE love, And so is the harp. And drums and ... music.

I love you!!

Nazi wannabees!! Holy! That is hard to take. I'm thinking if my parents were Ku Klux Klan, and promoted hatred, and thought they were the superior race, I'm not sure what I'd do. But, I'd have to understand the hatred started somewhere. There had to be a starting point. And, I would refuse to carry their hate. In fact, I'd go overboard being compassionate. Do you channel your anger at them in some positive way, rhinegirl? Or just refuse to admit they exist in your own life, like kiya? And what about your own kids, will you let them know about your parents?? Maybe you don't want to talk about it, but it can be healing to look at that shadow.

Now, you guys are making me think. I just threw that statement off: like, they are your parents, you're stuck with them. Not literally, but by blood. But, in rethinking this, no, you don't have to love them for what they did to you, but just love them by being nonjudgemental. If you carry their "lack of love" and all the hurt and anger that goes with that, then you carry on the chain of pain.

I do hypnotherapy with people who've been molested, by their parents. When they look into their parents' lives, they invariably see that their offending parent was molested, and their parents' parents' etc.

See, we have a choice to heal and refuse to carry the poison, or we can just feel hate and pass it on.

Hate can hold you prisoner. You don't have to "LOVE" them and show up with gifts, just wish them well and find another family, or, parent yourself and love yourself. I guess I'm talking about forgiveness. It's a big one to do sometimes, but then the person you forgive doesn't hold you down anymore. And you are free to feel love.

Just my thoughts ...

I hope this is still on topic ... but speaking of the power of love. Just after I posted, I picked up a kids' book on the Ghost Dance. It was introduced to the Paiute people when the settlers were moving in and killing buffalo, ripping up the land to farm it etc. Anyway, Wovoka had a vision, and he told the people to dance, to hold the dream, and the magic would be strong. To do a sacred, nonviolent dance. That the people could have back that which they they thought had become ghosts, but that which they loved the most: sparkling water loaded with fish, the herds of buffalo and elk would come back, miles & miles of waving green grass. They danced and danced, but the settlers thought they were doing a war dance. The Ghost DAnce was strong, but the bullets sang more loudly. Many were killed.
Now, the earth cries again, and if we all love, if we all dream, if we all sing, if we all dance, the magic will be strong. We will keep what we love, what is good of the new, and weave the old and new in harmony. The big picture is, Wovoka's vision didn't fail. It is one yet to be realized by us!!!!! If we commit to what the dance means: committment to personal integrity and nonviolence, passionate concern for social and environmental health, & joining of purpose across political and cultural boundaries.

Also, I think you could stun that wicked person attacking you with the power of love.

Wishful thinking??

Beavis, you're so lucky to have parents like that. You're all psychic? You could be the Travelling Beavis Family Psychic Show.
Seriously, imagine the abilities you can have if your parents structure your belief systems right from birth that everything is possible. And they also teach you respect and how to handle your abilities humbly. I'm trying to teach my son thoughts come true, but he doesn't believe me. He's 10.
My friend taught his daughter she can make it rain. She can do it, because she was never told she couldn't!!!

And Rhinegirl, I can't believe other entities can direct our lives. Isn't there some kind of universal law being broken there?? Prod them a little more on it, they shouldn't get mad to discuss it.  Maybe the Greeks and their Gods were right!!! We are just pawns.

But, back to parents, you gotta love 'em. They brought you here!!

Blessed be, I have such a love vibe going here, I just feel incredible. It is possible to just love, for no reason at all. Just the act of loving is amazing. I have never posted so much in one day. Guess it helps that I've gotten my work all done for today and I have time to spread love.

Spreading love, wouldn't it be just great to have a job, just going around and looking at people, right in their eyes, and saying "I love you! You are a beautiful and amazing human being!!!! That would be so awesome. Let's just love ourselves into a new world. Right into heaven on earth.
#32
But, twstdrge, think about it. I know you didn't have a great time growing up, but how will you treat your own kids when you have some? You know what it's like to experience lack, so won't you shower love when it comes to be your chance to raise someone?

We learn better from what we didn't have, than from having it all our lives and taking it for granted.

You are a great person, an excellent thinker and you deserve better. Start by giving it to yourself, re-parent yourself, so to speak, and you'll have people who love you around you. They'll be attracted to you.

Heck, we here at astral pulse all love you. We're your family. You're brave for saying sometimes you feel rage, and I respect that. It takes guts. Some people don't want to look at their shadow side.

Well said, Kiauma. What will it take for the world to believe this? The sheer power of love. I see the holiness in all, I don't see that you're different than I, or ugly, because I just don't acknowledge it.
They say Mother Theresa loved so much, she never got sick yet she was with the dying or dead all day long. Yet, if she would've tried anything with someone evil, what would they have felt, would they have blocked the light? I'm talking about Saddam or Hitler. And no, I don't want this to turn into an argument about "us and them", I'm just using those people as EVIL role models in our world.

ie. if someone's about to attack you, and you just blast them with all the love energy you have, put sparkly light around them and try to hug them, what will happen? Maybe they'd drop the weapon and run away, not knowing what just happened. Maybe you'd become invisible to them?

And hey, sending a lot of love out to everyone. Smile at someone who isn't smiling, because they need one of your's.

Love and laughter to all. Have a great weekend!!!!!!!!

I love the world too, and even you crazy astral projectors.
but, love means different things to different people. Like, it means sex to some, unconditional love to others, Jesus-love to others, and who knows how many other interpretations.

And, how come we find it easy to love pretty, good-looking things, and hard to love ugly, festering things. Like, I love you Lord of the Bunnies, you are so cute and cuddly, but I hate you snakes that are long and uncuddley. Can we look beyond appearance? This body is just FORM, we are really spirit!!!!

Like, if my face was harelip and I talked wierd, could you love me? And I had a huge, pussy pimple on the end of my nose. It's not who I am, I was just born that way!!!!!!!

Welcome to Astral Chat! / FOOD you hate to love
February 06, 2004, 10:35:30
I used to be vegetarian, for years. And then, when I got pregnant I started to eat a little fish, then some chicken, and now I LOVE a good steak! Barbecued, rare. And BACON, well, the other day I bought my son a hamburger, and they were two for one, so I thought, what the heck. And it had bacon on it, and it was DELICIOUS.
But, bacon just drips in fat.
You know, all the health reports say you're not supposed to eat this, or that because of your heart, or your high colesterol. But, I remember when I grew up, there was hardly any salad, people cooked vegetables until they were limp, and my dad smoked in the car and we didn't even put down the windows. Nobody wore seat belts or helmets, and we played around in the back seat and had a ball. Now, you just have to sit there belted in.
And I'm healthy. I wonder if it's a state of mind, more than anything. I always program for good health, and I eat a lot of crap, but I never get sick!!!
And then these health gurus, like Dr. Atkins (of the Atkins diet) and Adele somebody (famous for some other diet) die at 50 of heart attacks or something.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / CHINESE FOOD!!!!
February 04, 2004, 10:55:31
Chinese food is just fine, but if you go to China, it's totally different, in the common-man restaurants, I mean. NOt the touristy, big, shiny places.
BUT, have you ever had Thai food, MMMmmmm. Fresh salad rolls: Big rice wrappers around fresh shrimp, and mint leaves; then you dip it in hot chili sauce and a sweet & sour sauce. TOTAL NIRVANA!

And coconut chicken. And Tom Yum soup!!!
Totally, to live for!

There was a projector named Chester
Who's technique continued to fester
When he started to fly
He was a regular guy
He returned as the Earl of Leicester

There once was a girl named Moontingle
Who wanted to hang out her shingle
Come to me, Learn to fly!
And you'll know you can't die.
In the astral, I'll teach you to mingle.

So, her classes became quite gigantic
To get into them, people were frantic
Gradually, the world became a better place
We're spirit, people cried, that's the ace
In love and war, we don't have to be manic.

Wanted: a better ending for this limerick. Hmmm ... panic, mechanic, bannock.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / regressions
January 15, 2004, 11:43:29
Guys, I studied hypnotism for 2 years and I have done many regressions. It's not to be feared, it's most insightful. And I remember thinking reincarnation is the great leveller, we have all been a thief, we have all been the rich king, the crippled beggar, the beautiful princess!
One time I was regressed and went into a past life as a black pirate on a ship. I was blamed for stealing something I did not steal. I was the scapegoat. I was placed on an island surrounded by salt water, and there I died a terrible, slow death.
In this life, I very often didn't trust people and I thought they were going to destroy me somehow. I don't think that anymore, because I did a lot of processing and therapy around it.
Past lives are amazing. If you can afford a phone call to Canada, I will regress you free of charge.  A good regression with a willing client takes about 1/2 an hour. I know, that adds up, but if I meet you at Mustardseed'd free astral projection workshop he's thinking of putting on, I'll offer sessions there.

Good one, Jeff! Like, whatever happened with "living in the moment" and making the best of it that you can, without worrying about the future. Masters don't worry.
Like: there were relatives who shared a family secret for cooking pot roast; it had been handed down for centuries. The stories about how to prepare the roast were whispered amongst the younger family cooks, and it was said to be a curious, mysterious thing, but if you cut off the end of the roast, the meat would turn out absolutely heavenly. One day at a special pot roast dinner, a child reverently asked the ancient grandmother who sat at the table, near death, why the roast had to be cut off. Finally, the big recipe secret would be revealed. The grandmother laughed, and in a croaky voice, said, "Oh, my dears, that's easy ... the first time your great grandmother made  the roast, her pot was too small, and she had to cut the end off!"

Okay, Aries, now I understand you're wondering what your totems are ... there are two ways as far as I know. If you have a guide you've been working with, you can ask them in your meditations. Or, years ago, I tried the shamanic method and found a horse was one of my animals. First, find a drumming tape or the "Alpha Sound" tape, just rapid beats that will put your mind into trance, or even better, have someone drum for you. After about five minutes they should hit the drum slowly for four beats, this signals you to end your journey and come back to waking consciousness. Go into the earth through a tree or a hole in the ground that you have seen at some time in your life. A pleasant  hole, if possible, as opposed to a manhole or something like that, maybe a geyser hole or one made by an animal. Anyway, visualize going down this hole, or down through the roots of the tree, and sliding down a tube into earth, when you finally exit the tube, you will be in the underworld, and an animal will come forth. Talk with it, interact with it, ask it what gifts it has to give you, ask for something you can bring back into the physical world with you. When you hear the four slow beats, come out of your visualization, and back into waking consciousness. Write down what you've learned about your animal.

This complete method of journeying to find your animal is written in Michael Harner's book "Way of the Shaman" - the book's been around forever. Lots of other books about working with animal spirits, too.

You can have many totems, or just one. Animals want to be our helpers naturally. Just begin building some kind of relationship and ask them to come to you. I think wolf resonates with you, so start to invite wolf spirit in. Even if you wonder that it didn't come into this world with you as a guardian spirit, ask it to join you now, anyway.

Hope this helps...

quote:
So maybe the way you shape shift is sort of a super fast Biokinesis. After generating so much energy the body proballiy could change under the will of the spirit

That's it, Clow! I mean, all we hear about is of the mind/body connection and we can heal ourselves through our thoughts. There's a saint in India who once was fat, and she was tormented by her mother-in-law about it. She meditated/prayed and now she lives on a miniscule amount of food and water. We can cure nasal conjestion by seeing it as a logjam and visualize it being blown up in our minds.

So, since we are SPIRIT first, why couldn't we assume another body at will. Of course it likely takes superhuman focus and concentration, but the most complicated metaphysical feats do. I also think we must be working in cooperation with the spirit of the animal, too, to shape-shift into a particular animal and also have knowledge of, say, flying, before we try donning an eagle body.
Make sense?

Ozzy is very cool! And what a personality. Like, he still has that streak of "wildness" in him, but what a gentleman. Carrying that rabbit away in his jaws, but dropping it unharmed.

Something interesting: my husband has seen 3 lynx since Dec. 1. Lynx medicine is kind of like having X-ray vision, knowing the inner workings of people and things. With lynx, you have to have concern about sharing secrets, since it can have consequences. Last week, my husband shared one of my "secrets" -- my interest in posting on astralpulse (too  much, in his opinion) and astral travel -- with my family. My mother sat me down (something she's never done) and told me she's worried about this, and that I'm neglecting my responsibilities, namely, my family. I'm feeling a little scorched over that one.

On the brighter side, this conversation about shape-shifting has awakened my love for animals and I'd like to volunteer at our local SPCA, or take in wounded animals. BTW, we have three dogs and two cats, the latest cat came to us before Christmas and has taken over our house. He's such a rogue!

Happy 2004 Everyone! Doesn't this year already seem auspicious? Four is such a good, balanced number. 2004 rolls off the tongue nicely and it just feels good saying it. It's the year of the monkey in Chinese astrology, and I love monkeys, they are so agile and fun-loving. Went to the zoo over the holidays and watched the monkeys for a long time. Esp. the spider monkeys who swung by their tails and chased each other around the trees having a blast.

Aries, start to work with Wolf -- it sounds like you resonate with wolf spirit. If you feel it's right in your heart, study the true nature of wolf. I have been told that each species of animal shares one spirit, so if you see a wolf in the physical and decide to talk to it, remember, you are not praying to the animal, you are praying to the spirit of wolf, that which is the animating force behind the animal that has the aspects of the entity we have named "wolf" in the english language. Pray to have the spirit of guardianship, ritual, and loyalty. You represent the true spirit of the free and unspoiled wilderness. Be smart, friendly, family-oriented (or clan/community oriented which I think would translate as giving back to your family or community).

Wolves are so highly misunderstood as cold-blooded killers. Yet, their sense of family is strong and they live by carefully defined rules and rituals. Each animal in wolf society hierarchy has its place and function. There is an "alpha" male and an "alpha female".

Wolves rarely fight - a glance, posture or growl often ends any contention. They don't have to demonstrate their power, but they are capable of wielding it if it comes down to it. Wolf teaches you to know who you are and to develop strength, confidence and surety in what you do so that you don't have to demonstrate and prove yourself.

Wolf is reminding you to keep your spirit alive. It has keen senses, especially smell and hearing. Listen to your inner thoughts and words. As you develop wolf spirit, you develop capacity for making quick and firm decisions, and secure your emotional attachments. Learn to trust your own insights. Wolf can help you to hear the inner voice, and guard you from inappropriate actions. When wolf shows up, maybe it's time to find a new path, take a new journey, take control of your life. You are the governor of your life. You create it and direct it. Do so with harmony and discipline, and then you will know the true spirit of freedom. This info about wolf comes from Animal-Speak by Ted Andrews.

Wisp, while you were describing your "wood" apparition, a thought came. A friend of mind found himself fetching water by himself on a windless morning, at about 5 am. He was just dipping his pail into the lake when an old man rose up out of the water and moved toward him. My friend screamed, dropped the pail, and ran to his mom (he was about five at the time). When he got to his mom, she shook her head and said his grandfather was trying to give him his medicine power. Because George became afraid, the power turned away.

It's a strange form your grandparent took, but maybe they were trying to pass along a gift and were testing your bravery? Just a thought. Maybe with one stick you can't do much, but with many you can make mass and form something of it, even an entity that moves. With little practice or few people, not as much can be done as with practice and many people of one heart working together.

About shape-shifting. Try reading "Called By The Spirits" by Serengel, a Siberian Shamaness. Very simply, she tells you how to call in a principal spirit who will then assist you in attracting an animal spirit. As your relationship with this animal evolves in a loving and creative way, the animal spirit may move in to protect you at times, or do a piece of work for you. Serengel has many stories of seeing Mongolian or Siberian shamans changing into the animal needed for a certain healing.

Study your animal, learn about it, leave it gifts, make a totem (small replica of it for your altar or medicine bag) and dance it's dance. Respect it and feel what it would be like running like a wolf. One day, you will be, perhaps,  dancing around a fire like you think a wolf would, losing yourself in its nature, and suddenly you are wolf, leaving your footprints in the snow.

The symbiotic relationship with an animal must be one of respect, and being a shaman means working to restore balance to all of life. The spirit will leave you if you work from ego and for self-reward.

I highly recommend Serengel's book.

Tsk. Tsk. I'm pecking away at this message with one hand. The wrist of my other is black & blue with a bad sprain. There I was yesterday -- total blue sky, mountain ranges towering on either side of me, and beams of sunlight laser-ing through the pine trees. A glorious day for cross-country skiing. Everything is great, except I keep losing my balance on these skinny skis and wiping out HARD. I want to quit, but I rally to the sound of my husband's insistence that I'll never learn to ski if I quit now. He says it's only fear that is making me give up and go home. He even tells me if I ever want to be a good astral-traveller, I need to overcome my fears.

Halfway around the track, shaking with fatigue & fear, I place my skis in the ruts of the track-set trail and let 'er rip down a steep hill. My brother waits at the bottom of the hill to catch me in case I wipe out at a corner and hit a tree. Big Mistake!!! Sure enough, I
lose control big time, plow into my brother, take him out at the knees, and he falls on my outstretched hand which I'm trying to shield myself with. I end up laughing, then crying, cause I'm cold & it hurts, then I start the two-mile trek back to the lodge, leaving them to deal with my skis and poles. Moral of story: if you're a fledgling at anything, don't let other pro's talk you into trying too hard at something that is way over your head.

Hmmm. Maybe this is another thread. I'm thinking: sometimes, if I wasn't pushed into something, I'd never have tried it and would have lost out on a great experience. Other times, this little voice of intuition inside tells me not to do something, but I ignore it & go along with whatever it is, feeling strong & devil-dareish, only to be met with utter disaster. Know what I mean - fear - It's a big test all right. And, isn't it often annoyingly humbling to be the only beginner amidst a group of experts. Like reading about astralpulse island & wondering if you'll ever get there!!!

Anyway, back to shapeshifting. Wisp, that's a great story of the dog/bird. I love both. I really hope to fly with the birds some day. I met someone from New York - Birdwoman - She had huge wings - one gigantic tatoo, that started at her backbone, spread down her shoulders, with feathers ending at her knuckles. She told of incredible experiences she'd had with birds.

[/quote]This is GREAT stuff! I've always believed that since the industrial age, western man has palced more and more reliance on technology and the sciences to explain this world we live in. Sure there have been great benefits, but there has also been great losses, as superstitions and mysticism have been forced out of our way of thinking. We have lost instinct to deductive reasoning, intuition to logic. What can't be measured or reliably observed mustn't really exist.

James, you hit the nail on the head. We rely on technology too much. Why check up on someone psychically, when you can pick up the phone and talk to them. But, perhaps the present interest in all things  metaphysical is the final great journey, the journey within to the greatest truth about our true nature & capacities, that leads us away from the arrogant, detached technological society we have created.  Still, not to slam technology, we wouldn't be communicating globally like this if not for technology, but can we find the middle road?

Just some thoughts.

I know it's beyond belief, but old Tibetans and First Nations people have multiple stories about people who shape-shift and their spirits are able to take on different physical bodies. I've never met anyone who could do it, but have it on good authority that a certain old man on a local reservation could change himself into a black dog when he needed to get somewhere fast. There are Skin-Walkers in the Navajo society who change into animals, and in the Chippewa Nation, there are multiple stories of people who can change into antelope.
If you've ever seen a movie called "Thunderheart" with Val Kilmer, a wanted man "Jimmy" hides in a trailer and the policepepper it with bullits; a deer jumps over the fence and runs away. His friends tell the police Jimmy can shape-shift. It's talked about all over Indian country, with such intensity, that I'm sure it's possible. And, do you remember the movie in which a princess changes into a falcon by day, and her lover changes into a wolf by night, so they can never be together. Can't recall the title of the movie ...
Anyway, it's something I'm looking into with my friends and I should have more info on it in a while. But in the meantime, I haven't a clue how shape-shifting and I agree with a past-poster that it is no easy feat. It is definitely high magic and only extremely advanced adepts undertake it.

Yes, Sunrise, they still make the Tea Dance, but it's rare nowadays and with everyone not in the same frame of mind that they used to be in. So many things have happened, just as to the world's many Aboriginal people, to destroy cultural beliefs, by the church and government. So, it is only the old people who still believe in the metaphysical things and who can still do them. And you must take much time and care to befriend them before they will let you in on their secrets. I am getting to know my aunt better -- didn't know her well before this trip because she lives so far away -- so that she might share her knowledge with me someday.

James, you hit it on the head. Technology is great, but at what cost? I've been researching the fur trade here in Canada which had a huge influence on our Aboriginal people. You have people hunting to subsist, and then all of a sudden you are killing hundreds of wolves, beaver etc. to trade for metal pots and guns that make your life so much easier. And you forget the rule of life that states "take only what you need".
People used to be so psychic, they had to be, in order to exist. They used to know when someone was coming to visit them -- but why develop that capacity now when we have telephones? Those abilities we had atrophy with disuse.

Anyway, I am going to find the old ways as much as I can and use them to empower my people to find their old strength again. As much as possible. Sadly, the town I was in up north has much alcoholism. In fact, I learned 90 percent of the kids in the school there are affected by Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, because their mothers drank when they were growing in the womb. Their brains are like swiss cheese and many faculties we take for granted are impossible for them to use. I don't know what things will be like when these youngsters become adults. Many of them end up in jail because they have no reasoning of cause and effect. If I steal this, I will get into trouble -- this doesn't occur to them and they just pull the crime. Sometimes, I think we'll need a miracle.

Ever optimistic,

No, I don't think bi-locating is off topic. If you can be in one body one place, and another in another place, it could be an animal form you take as your second body, could it not?
I just popped in. In an hour I'm leaving for a nine-hour trip toward the Arctic Circle. Wayyyy up north. I'll ask my aunt about shape-shifting. She is Dene, and they are very traditional there with little contact with the modern world. The Inuit are even more magical. With the harshness of the weather, almost total darkness 7 months of the year, you can imagine the psychic powers they've developed. Will report back on what I learn.

So, Nagual, is what you're talking about the archetypical battle: the powerful have's ($) vs. poor (but spiritual) have not's? Sauron vs. Frodo. St. Francis vs. the Bishops. Power!!! Is it the great race, and the powerful are way out in front? Would you say we have to learn in this school of hard knocks (greed & ego) the meek way so then, and only then, can we ascend to a realm that operates on love? Is that the only way to leave the hamster's wheel and experience it. I know we can have heaven on earth here individually, but what about collectively?

~Regards, moon
