Boydster - thanks very much for the tips, I'll try those out.

Rakon - thanks for the confirmation.  It's a relief to know there's nothing wrong, isn't it?  I was getting quite worried, occasionally wildly thinking I may have damaged my pathways somehow. [|)]

Marker, that alternating thing is an excellent tip, thank you very much.  I'll definitely give that a try until I finally manage to achieve the discipline to devote some time throughout the day to energy work.

As for concentration exercises and focusing on the energy movement sensations - would you mind being a bit more specific please? [:)]

Thanks Rastus, I appreciate it. [:)]

I've never been afraid to "go all the way", the problem is that I only ever do energy work in bed so I don't have much time to do much before I fall asleep.  I really need to start devoting some time to doing it during the day.

I read somebody saying on this board, a while back, that he found NEW useful when his feet were cold in bed.  Same here!  My feet easily get cold if my girlfriend is hogging the blanket, and NEW works wonders for it! [|)]

You're welcome, Nay. [:)]

To answer your question about sleeper classes...actually, I don't think it's a new idea.  I'm sure I've heard other people say that we go places in our dreams to learn lessons, learn from mistakes etc.  Monroe was quite specific though.  He didn't say how often we attend the classes, but does say that it happens to all of us a great deal.

Being the expert that he was, he was able to attend classes whilst conscious (and projecting, of course).  He doesn't go into too much detail in the books (I think Far Journeys contains the most info, if memory serves), but he definitely recounted one time when he visited one and someone (the "teacher") recognised him.  The teacher offered Monroe a chance to sit a lesson even though he thought that he (Monroe) didn't really need it.  Sadly, I can't remember what the specific lesson was right now.

Hi there.

Manuel - you're very welcome. [:)]

Sarah - Whilst I can only guess at what led you to attending that particular class (which is what I'm convinced things like this are), it definitely served a purpose, didn't it?  These things tend to be a little bit more than the 'average dream'.  Did you, like me, strongly intuit that you were actually meant to be learning something?

Nick - I agree, things like this are quite puzzling.  As I just said in my message to Sarah however, in this specific case I'm almost positive I was meant to learn what I learned about being in a combat situation.  This is why I so strongly believe that it was a sleeper class.  I wish Robert Monroe had written more about them in his books...or that I could project at the incredible level he was able to achieve, so I can find out for myself. Thanks for your comments, everyone.

I've seen that happen to a lot of boards.  Doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen to this board, of course, but if not then it'll be the first time I've ever seen a segragation work.

The more I see posts like this, the more I appreciate Adrian's idea.

You will not need to pay to have access to the original board!  Payment is for the subscriber section ONLY.

I also think that its somewhat unfair to start suddenly charging for a service that was free before.

They're not proposing to charge for all access!  Just access to the focused, more closely-moderated section.

Nagual, who says you have to have goals?

There must be certain activities you enjoy.  Photography, flying, feeding ducks even.  Whatever.  You apparently enjoy surfing the Web.  My suggestion is not to have a goal as such, but to aim to bend your life towards being able to participate in these activities as much as possible.

If I were so rich that I wouldn't have to work again (one day, one day), I would no longer have any goals.  I would simply spend my time doing what I enjoy.  None of us needs to be rich to do that, though - unless your hobbies are collecting private jets or something, heh.  So do what it takes to be able to maximise the time you can spend doing what you enjoy.  These ideals are all that get me through each crappy job I get. Crysania - because sleeping projections are natural, whilst conscious projections are almost entirely different.

Robert Bruce says that such 'portals' exist in Astral Dynamics.  He also goes on to list several different techniques for finding and traversing them.

"He thought that after all, the very meaning of life is to find an ideal partner(ideal for us, because we want to reproduce his/hers good qualities – see them in our children) and reproduce humans."

HA!  No excrement, Schopenhauer!

birm, thanks for sharing your experiences.
There seems to be different levels of the astral sex experience- the writhing piles described by robert monroe, genital level experiences and the experience of onneness  with another soul.
Maybe there is some of each in every experience, and the more the oneness the more satisfying the experience?

The Human sex pile that Monroe wrote about has little to do with astral sex.  It's a belief system, one that is inhabited by people who apparently were - whilst still alive in physical form - very preoccupied with sex.

The more I consider that, the more I'm tempted to throw away all my porn...

I would have thought that two projectors willfully meeting up would be very difficult to achieve.  They'd need to be able to project at pretty much the same time and be skilled enough to be at a specific place at that time.  Also, I'm given to understand that OBEs are vary variable in length.

However, projectors have widely reported seeing the astral bodies/real-time doubles of sleeping people and even animals.  So what you're asking should be possible - just unlikely.

Robert Monroe mentions many similar occurrences in his first book.  He later found out what had been going on, but that's covered in his second and third books so I won't say anything more here, in case I spoil it for someone. [;)]

He was never able to resist either, or at least he chose not to.  No harm ever came to him.

"pink floyd - still first in space"

...isn't that a reference to the fact that Pink Floyd's music was the first music to be played in space?  I believe it was DSOTM, but I have no idea which mission it was.

Robert Bruce and Robert Monroe both agree that your many astral bodies tend to copy whatever the body you're focused on is doing, so to me it's not unreasonable to suggest that the reverse may also be true.  That means, in theory at least, a somnambulist's physical body may attempt to copy whatever a projector's 'active' astral body may be doing.  Of course I could very well be wrong, and I hope for your friend's sake that I am.

During such times, try using mental awareness hands to massage the painful area.
#44
I'm no expert but here are my thoughts.

For a start, the choking feeling you experienced has been described by Robert Bruce as one of the symptoms of your throat chakra being activated, if memory serves.  It definitely means something along those lines anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I also don't believe that physical mass has anything to do with it.  You only have to relax your body completely, and then it's out of the equation.  Anything after that concerns your subtle bodies, which have no mass.

The feeling of the cover rising on your bed is probably attributable to the fact that you were slowly reflecting your consciousness into the first subtle body within you, giving the illusion of shrinking.  It's not difficult to see how this could be perceived as the covers on your bed moving away from you (rising).

I don't know about the Aztecs, but I know a lot of civilisations have done that.

"what was his experiance then?"

I couldn't possibly post that sort of thing without his permission.  Let me just say that he perfectly described the experience of an OBE without any prior knowledge of it.

Of course, your easiest defence to this is "well, he might have read it somewhere", and you'd be right.  That could very well be true.  I know he hadn't though, because he's my friend and he wouldn't lie to me, but I wouldn't expect you to believe it.  However, we seem to have reached an impasse in this discussion, don't we?  Tell you what - you can keep on believing that LSD or other drugs can't have an effect if you like, but I, for one, will continue through this life with the belief that they do have an effect.  No harm done. [|)]
#47
He wouldn't lie to me.  His proof is his experience - there is no greater proof.
#48
"the 'experiences' you have on drugs are not real."

Excuse me for being argumentative, but...BOLLOCKS.  A very good friend of mine has experienced very real, very lucid OBEs whilst taking LSD.  He has hard evidence.  Do you?

Yeah, according to Robert Bruce that's what it feels like as your projectable double is generated internally.

Perhaps it's due to a sleep deficit?
