I'm afraid that when they are already beating up Buddhist monks, then the situataion there is not very good. Sorry for the monks.

But I guess they could have kept out of politics. It's a dangerous game.

I have heard some say Jesus was a homosexual.
Some even say that is the real reason he was crucified.

<<clipped article>>

Was Jesus gay? We don't know. But it is a possibility that cannot be ruled out. One version of St. Mark's gospel - which is still the subject of academic dispute - alludes to Jesus having a homosexual relationship with a youth he raised from the dead.

According to the US Biblical scholar, Morton Smith, of Columbia University, a fragment of manuscript he found at the Mar Saba monastery near Jerusalem in 1958, showed that the full text of St. Mark chapter 10 (between verses 34 and 35 in the standard version of the Bible) includes the passage:

"And the youth, looking upon him (Jesus), loved him and beseeched that he might remain with him. And going out of the tomb, they went into the house of the youth, for he was rich. And after six days, Jesus instructed him and, at evening, the youth came to him wearing a linen cloth over his naked body. And he remained with him that night, for Jesus taught him the mystery of the Kingdom of God".

The veracity of this manuscript is hotly contested by other Biblical scholars. This comes as no surprise. The revelation of a gay Jesus would undermine some of the most fundamental tenets of orthodox Christianity, including its rampant homophobia.

But even if the text is genuine, does this ambiguous, elliptical passage offer evidence of Jesus's homosexuality? It is hard to say. The precise nature of the relationship between Christ and the youth is not spelled out. Sexual relations are suggested but not explicitly stated.

The Morton Smith document is, in fact, irrelevant to the vexed issue of Christ's sexual orientation. What we can say for certain is that the standard, accepted Biblical narrative gives us no information at all about Jesus's sexuality.

This absence of firm information does not, of course, mean that we can take it for granted that Christ was heterosexual. Far from it! The lack of information about his erotic inclinations begs more questions than it answers.

The truth is that we simply don't know whether Jesus was straight, gay, bisexual or celibate. There is certainly no evidence for the Church's unspoken presumption that he was either heterosexual or devoid of carnal desires. Since nothing in the Bible points to Christ having erotic feelings for women, or relationships with the female sex, the possibility of him being gay cannot be discounted.

In the absence of any evidence - let alone proof - that Jesus was heterosexual, the theological basis of Church homophobia is all the more shaky and indefensible. How can established religion dare denounce homosexuality when the founder of its faith was himself a man of mysterious, unknown sexuality who could, for all we know, have been homosexual?

The Bible tells us that Jesus was born a man and therefore presumably had male sexual feelings. It would have been more or less impossible, biologically, for him not to have an element of erotic arousal - even if only having the normal male response of waking with an erection.

Oh JESUS!
What is this???

Leave the man alone!
He was just a guy! Who cares whether he had sexual relationships! I mean, IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. AND ALL IMPORTANT MEN ARE NOT GAYS. SERIOUSLY, PLEASE!!!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND PEOPLE WHO, WHILE SPEAKING OF ANCIENT PEOPLE (GREECE, ROME TOO) THE ONLY THING THEY SHOUT OUT LOUD IS: "THEY WERE GAYS!!!!"

And Lola, by the wa, there where lesbians too you know. Maybe mother Therese(or whatever) was a lesbian. Eh?

Actually, I don't care. I'm not a christian. So for all I care, the christian god may be a homosexual too.

Lola, do you think that God is a hetero or gay?[:D]

Actually,
I still didn't mean anything mean,
Forgive me and the best[;)],

It started...well, more-less certain number of billions of years ago. OK, yeah, human brain can't comprehend that. But there was another explanation. According to theory this will happen again, but in the other direction e. g. you know the universe is widening. At one point it will star to get smaller. And then maybe all over again. Will your elements start to dissapear and then come back agfain? Or what?

I don't acutally get the meaning that universe is endless. Something can't be endless. And then again, what starts from where the universe ends? If emptiness, then somewhere emptiness has to end? What is left behind, when universe starts shrinking?

OK, whatever. Anyways, What will happen to your elements, when universe starts shrinking? I think the sun was to kill us in 5 billion years[;)]..

Welcome to Astral Chat! / purpose of life
June 09, 2004, 12:07:59
[:D]

I know you all wanna kill me for saying so, but naturally the purpose of life is to give life.

BUT THAT'S NO PERIOD! That is the purpose of human as an animal! Now the question is ARE WE ANIMALS?

If you say that those who have no children are better than those who have, I can't agree with you.

The purpose of life of a human as A CREATURE ABLE TO THINK AND CREATE is to be happy and become wiser and wiser and wiser. To understand things clearlier. TO SEE THE WHOLE PICTURE!

That's what I think. And also, we will never get the whole purpose of ourselves, but we have to try to understand as much as we can..

The purpose of life is not to die. That's noone's purpose. Then we would all just kill ourselves and our purpose would be done.

[:D]

NO, sorry.
Actually it's just that in our world the best selling thing is: SEX
That's  just the way it is. Nothing more. It's our world and we are all humans!

However, don't get me wrong. I support you totally. THis topic is a good one. Haven't tried the thing myself, but who knows, maybe someday. By the way I read Schopenhauer, the philosopher, recently. He's really interesting. His thoughts on humans, love and sex. He thought that after all, the very meaning of life is to find an ideal partner(ideal for us, because we want to reproduce his/hers  good qualities – see them in our children) and reproduce humans. It's not idiotic. Yes, there's love too. WE can't say, it's all about sex. I guess it might be said that love is a way how nature decides which humans will survive(you can't explain really how you fall in love, can you?)...

OK, that's a bit off the topic, but the point is that the topic is [^](that means appropriate) and astral sex sure is fascinating.

All the best,

I think attraction comes with this certain paly between a man and a woman. This game is everything. Man somehow has to create the tension between himself and the woman. I think the two people should entertain each other. Like dancing - the man leads, but if the woman does nothing... it would be quite boring, wouldn't it?

Well, its ok Gwathren, I do know, esp. since my Grandfather was born and spent his childhood in Riga, Latvia, before being forced out by the invading communist army in 1917-19.

He went back for the first time upon independence in the early 1990s; that was some trip down memory lane!

Yeah,  I guess your right about the voting, I think its just that some countries tactics are more obvious than others!

The most anoying thing about Eurovision is how all the Baltic countries always team up and vote for each other in order to boost their chances, this has been going on for the past few years and was on full display tonight!

I'm sure you don't know that Estonia is one of the three Baltic countries and I'm also sure that you haven't noticed that neighbouring countries give high points to each other because they have close ties. The similarity of cultures!!!
And it is not only with the Baltics.
You don't have to even watch the thing to get that[;)]

Talk aboput messing with history. Sorry but the reality was that japan DID go looking for a super-power to model itself on in the late 19th century, but it sure as hell WASNT the US, the super-power in the 19th century was Britain. Japan on purpose modeled itself on the British parilamentary democracy system. The idea that they would go to America for advice (which was still a backwater at that time) is ridiculous.
In fact, Japan's political system is STILL based on the british system.

Yeah i know, i understand it's not historically accurate, but that didn't matter to me. It was good regardless of being fact or fiction. For me anyway [:P]

I would vote for "the lord of the rings". Because it was really a challenge to make it and it was a success. (I liked the first part the most though).

Everything depends of your point of view, but "evil" is a needed term for describing things that are not ethical and "good", evil are the things that are unmoral – "bad".

What makes things even more confusing is the fact that people are not the same everywhere you go. Especially in maters of love. Around where I live there is a very unbalanced ratio of males to females and it's made for some very disturbing trends.

Women can be just as uncaring and unfaithful and do all the things you see men doing in popular media in relation to sex. Most of you would be completely shocked to hear women say the things I've heard them say let alone see all the insane behavior.

I can truly say that there are men and women who have no respect for anyone but themselves and treat their fellow people as toys to be broken and tossed aside.

And women can put their own special spin on it that makes it extra hurtful...

You are completely right. Don't think that only men are able to act like idiots. Women are just as much capable in doing it as men are. Men have their special way to make things worse, but women have it too, and both can be equally hurtful.
