Perhaps I can use that to make some of my work disappear tomorrow in the office !!  :D

Hi Solid magic,

What kind of program is it ? What is the site that will be advertising Astral pulse ?

oh, and is the advert merely a link to the astral pulse forums ?

Kind regards,
Mark

Hey there Brad,

How do you differentiate between concentration & focus ?

hey there Izalco,

well, the thing with the "card trick", is that there are several aspects to it that we don't consider at first glance.

I used to think along the lines of "why can't it just be proven with a card experiment ?"

However, there are several points to consider :
a) It seems that people who can regularly project, do not wish to seek this kind of proof.
b) Several people (including some on this forum... I think Selski did it a while ago? maybe I'm wrong) have conducted the card experiment successfully. Not under rigorous scientific conditions, mind you... but they have proved it to themselves. Or at least, claim to do so !
c) More often than not, the card experiment seemingly cannot be replicated in lab conditions...When success does occur, it is discredited anyway.

I'm going off topic... Suffice to say, the issues we have been talking about (e.g. RTZ dissolving into Astral) are major problems when attempting the card experiment.

I've often contemplated the nature of the real time zone as opposed to the astral.

However, I wish I had more experience of it. I've stayed in the RTZ for 1 or 2minutes at most, but without fail, the RTZ will become the astral - the familiar surroundings dissolve away, or change and suddenly the differences are everywhere.

The question of the RTZ vs Astral is closely linked to subjectivity vs objectivity in this environment....which is an extremely complex subject, to say the least.

One thing I have noticed - Astral experiences are very sharp, and real....sometimes, more than 100% real (if that makes sense). Whereas, RTZ experiences (for me anyway) are typified by a very clear, awake mind, but slightly fuzzy vision/movement/other senses.

Kind regards,
Mark

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Edinburgh SCOTLAND

Hi Lydus, you are not alone....

I believe that my fellow moderator Douglas (Gandalf) is also from Edinburgh.  Oh, and so am I, before I forget !

Only difference being, I think Douglas still lives there, whereas I'm a few thousand miles away, so might not be able to make your gig on the 21st !

Talking about OBE / astral projection is hard. It is all too easy to enthusiastically bring up the subject amongst friends, and find them staring back at you in bemusement !

All I can say on the matter is good luck and choose your words wisely !

Hi there,

I don't believe that the massage therapist intended this to happen.... It was most probably a stroke of good luck !

The massaging of the feet did remind me of the "christos" technique. If you are unaware of it, see here...

I'm sure you'll find it interesting !!

Welcome to Magic! / Beginning alchemy

I'd recommend reading the theory section of Franz Bardon's "initiation into hermetics".

Also, try reading the Kybalion http://digital-daybook.com/eBooks/hermetic/001/

As for learning the basics of alchemy in 3 weeks before school starts - I don't think this will be possible !

Hi there Goldsplinter,

When reading "astral dynamics", try skipping the exercise section of the book, & read the rest of it.

Once you've finished, go back and do the exercises. You'll have to practise daily, & really want to acheive your goal. It seems that a lot of people, when faced with what looks like a big task, fall by the wayside....try breaking it up into small tasks.

Mark

Hi there Jay dawg,

Making a distinction between lucid dreaming & astral projection is not easy, IMO... It is a very interesting subject.

Consider this - how do you decide that physical reality is the "real" world and a lucid dream is a "dream" world ? What are the observations you make ?

Kind regards,
Mark

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Visualization
July 22, 2005, 02:32:32
Yes ! But as with everything, the key is to PRACTICE.

Try doing it for 5mins in the morning, & 5mins at night, every day for a month. At the end of the month, look back and see how much you have improved....

10minutes a day sounds easy - but I guarantee you'll find excuses like "I'm too tired - I'll do it tomorrow" or "I haven't got the time".

Give it a go.

Hi there Jay Dawg,
Quotei cant accpet that there is LDing and astral projection. it has to be either one or the other right?

could you accept, that lucid dreams and astral projection are aspects of the same thing ?

I have had many lucid dreams, & several "OBEs" / "astral projections"  - call them what you will. The difference, in my opinion, is that when you are lucid dreaming, you know that you are lucid dreaming.

When you are projecting, you know that you are in a different reality, so to speak... No more or less valid than our physical reality.

Lucid dreams & astral projections are part of the same thing, in my opinion - not mutually exclusive.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Visualization
July 22, 2005, 00:18:14
Hi Sarrk,

there are many ways to "visualise". Here are a few methods that have common themes but differ in terms of the physical senses employed. There are also many reasons why people "visualise", ranging from day-to-day living through to magical practice.

1) Stare at an object (e.g. an apple) for 2 or 3 minutes, study every detail. Now, close your eyes and imagine the apple, in your mind's eye. Try and imagine every detail, & also how it looked as a whole.

2) Imagine being in an elevator, on floor 100. The elevator doors are open, yet you are going down - you can see the bricks of the lift shaft passing as you descend, & you can see the floors change "100 - 99  - 98". Try and imagine how the bricks look as they go past, & try and sense the sublte feeling of the elevator heading downwards.

3) Think of your favourite song.... sing it in your head, but include all the instruments. Make it as clear and accurate as you can.

4) Think about what you did when you awoke this morning, and replay every single tiny event, every detail, in your mind's eye.

Kind regards,
Mark

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Problem
July 21, 2005, 23:53:03
Hi Kitsune,
you will need to continue practising regularly in order to become accustomed to the sensation you are experiencing. Once you are fully aware of what it feels like, & when you might expect it, it will no longer surprise you to the same extent that it does now. This could take some time to get used to !

At this point, when you feel the "tug", your concentration will be disturbed but not fully broken. You can then attempt to relax and focus again. This again needs to be practised regularly.

Now, you can work towards the point where the "tug" is no longer a surprise - it just happens in the background, or goes unnoticed. Your concentration remains unbroken during practise.

Kind regards,
Mark

Well, einstein proved long ago that time isn't simply something that flows - instead it is an aspect of a space-time continuum that goes largely ignored during our waking hours.

Quantum theory is very relevant to us, we who are interested in OBE. Do a google search for John Bell's inequality. Also, have a look at Gisin's CERN experiments.

The current lead article in New Scientist discusses both. A pair of entangled particles (e.g. photons, or electrons) can be seperated, & when we change the properties of one, the other changes instantly. This has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt at CERN..... under special circumstances, sub-atomic particles appear to "communicate" instantaneously, with information travelling 1000's of times faster than the speed of light. This strange property of the universe we perceive is now called "non-locality".

However, it is the implications that are very interesting.
Either :
a) There is an energy that travels so fast that it can carry information in an instant.
b) The universe is not "out there" for us to measure / perceive... it is "in here".
or c) We have no free will.

Hi NickJW,

Sit down and examine what changes, if any, have occurred in your waking life.

1) any dietary changes ?
2) any general behavioural changes (work, play, relationships, exercise)
3) any psychological/emotional changes (family, relationships)
4) changes to sleeping patterns.
5) changes in belief systems.

If any of these have changed, you might attempt to revert back to the previous situation, if possible.

Hope this helps, or at least gives you food for thought.

Kind regards,
Mark

Hi there,
This topic looks a little more suited to "OBE discussions" - I hope you don't mind me moving it !

I agree with souljah's remarks. I believe that Bruce Moen describes this effect as "unconditional love".

In my experience I simply know that the threatening entity cannot harm me, and I come to no harm. However, if any fears crop up in my mind, these are reflected back at me, & quickly multiply.

Sending out "unconditional love" will conquer any demons within the astral. But sending out unconditional love + a tinge of doubt / fear, won't get you very far !!

Kind regards,
Mark

Although I haven't been in the "astral pulse island" forum for a while, (this is the first time I've read this thread) I awoke on Sunday with a strong feeling that I'd just visited the API.

Now, my recollections of this exerience are mere fragments, yet I am certain that I saw Adrian, sitting down. Yet, he was moving.

Hmm... Given a bit more thought, perhaps it was me moving, Adrian sitting still ! that would make more sense.

Other than that, I cannot recall anything about the API environment, which immediately causes me to question the validity / reality of my experience...

Kind regards,
Mark

That girl has passed so many tests of her ability over the past few years, you'd think that there'd be some kind of "Newsflash : Mainstream science proven wrong !", with a top scientist proclaiming that we need to consider that the fundamentals of our scientific knowledge may be a wee bit shaky.

Yet, this hasn't occurred...and isn't likely to occur either !!!

why not ?!!

Welcome to Magic! / Controling energies...?
May 27, 2005, 21:28:13
Well, controlling energy & will are simple concepts, that apply in our everyday lives, & within magic.

Writing an essay is a good example. Most people will take a break, or allow their minds to wander slightly, whilst writing an essay. Even during an important exam, very few people will not let their minds wander for a few seconds from the subject matter.

In terms of visualisation / thought control, very few people have the ability to hold one single thought or image in their mind for an extended time, without letting other thoughts wander in on them. This kind of control takes practice.

This is the 2nd exercise of step 1 in Bardon's IIH, which should give you more food for thought :

QuoteThe next exercise will consist in not giving way in our mind to thoughts obtruding themselves on our mind, unwanted and obstinate. For instance, we must be able not to occupy ourselves any longer with the tasks and worries of our profession when we come home from work and return the family circle and privacy. All thoughts not belonging to our privacy must be set aside, and we ought to manage to become quite a different personality instantly. And just the other way round: in our job, all thoughts have to be concentrated in it exclusively, and we must not allow them to digress or wander home, to private affairs, or elsewhere. This has to be practiced time and again until it has developed into a habit. Above all, one ought to accustom oneself to achieve whatever one does with full consciousness, whether in professional work or in private, regardless whether the point is a big one or a trifle. This exercise should be kept for a lifetime, because it is sharpening the mind and strengthening the consciousness and the memory.
